I was on an extended Myrtle Beach vacation and had time to check out some game stores. Interestingly enough, Player's Choice seems to be a trifecta for your video games, comic book, and manga needs. I'm not personally big on manga, and I have a pull list for comics back in my home state, but could have easily spent hours thumbing through back issues. Video games though...A perfect range of common - rare titles not bogged down by filler. If I'm ever back in town, I'll definitely have to dump some quarters an
I honestly don't get the handful of bad reviews. I visited for the first time two days ago, and the experience was fantastic. The store has a wide selection of items, and the displays are really fun to browse through. I was especially impressed by the old consoles they sell in like-new condition at surprisingly low prices. I bought a PlayStation 1, and it looks brand new, even without the box. Though it is true that some game cases were reproduction, at least appreciate them trying to make these 20 yr old+
Phenomenal arcade and game selection. as for the cards, they get their trading cards from a wholesale distributor and they charge to scalper market prices. It's absolutely crazy that somebody with a retail account is acting like a scalper. If it was like a 10% markup, sure, no problem. But it's not, it's like 10% percent under scalper, which is absurd Avoid business with them for trading cards. I don't see a reason to do business with this lgs if they're going to act like a third party scalper. if you dont
This store is bursting at the seams with nostalgia. So much to see, do, and buy. You can even bring in certain things to sell for cash and store credit. They offer: Games from cards to console to table. American and Asian comics. Figures big and small. A good selection of arcade games in here and in the adjoining arcade to play. Something for everyone.
I was surprised to find such a cool store in such a dead mall. Can't speak for the prices on video games much as I didn't browse them, but I found their prices for anime figures to be very fair. Maybe a little bit more expensive than what you'd see online but you gotta keep in mind you aren't paying for shipping and you get your instant weeb gratification. Fun selection of arcade games too. I'll definitely be back!
I've been here once which was a year ago as I like to come here when I visit Myrtle Beach on vacation! Upon entering I got greeted by a friendly older gentleman who I assumed to be the owner. Right away got me the controller I needed and he did assure me the controller was not a crappy knockoff LOL, so right there I knew this guy knew his stuff and that makes the experience a 10/10! I also saw they are beginning to ship online which will come in handy for me! Very friendly staff and a bit of everything for
Reviewed as a pinball league player. The good- Pins were in good shape, a bit dirty but I've seen worse. Only a quarter per play which is great! The bad- I played for almost an hour and not once did I get an in game warning let alone tilt. I did use some slap saves but again no tilt warnings. After another free game earned the owner comes up and tells me to take it easy at a quarter a game its hard to make it. He said that if I kept it up I could take my quarter back and go. He was not polite about it at
Players has been my store of choice for a hot minute. Love the products and the staff greatly. Offers many TCG events, I'm a big fan of one piece. Has been plenty of times where due to work and getting off late I would have not been able to make it to the events. Lucky I have gave them a call and they were Abel to hold the doors a little longer for me to make it. Never disappointed
So be glad you read this review because I'm gonna cover a lot of parental wins here! First and foremost if you are a kid/teen of the 80s/90s you are like me and get nostalgic a good old arcade that isn't a ticket money grab. God bless the fellas who run this place because it was awesome and like stepping into a Time Machine! First dont miss it. Located in the defunct mall next to Bass Pro Shop this is a nerd paradise. The actual store is filled with Funko Pop (anyone wanna get the Orin Scrivello for me jus
Player?s Choice is an absolute must-visit in Myrtle Beach. This store is a treasure trove of everything pop culture: nostalgic video games, comics, manga, movies, collectibles, and more. We came to attend their Magic the Gathering Friday Night Draft. As someone vacationing from out of town, I was blown away by how welcoming the community was. A special shout-out to Roland, the store manager, who made sure we felt right at home. The draft was a blast, and the vibe was competitive but friendly. Don't miss t
One of our Realtors has a son and they constantly talk about Player's Choice. His son has bought and sold games and gaming systems multiple times. They have always been great talking with him as they work through the process. They have also played every pinball machine in there, which is a lot. They highly recommend "The Stranger Things" and "The Dude" pinball machines! It is great to see a store like this with some great people running it.
If you grew up in the 80's or 90's, you will probably love this store! My husband was so excited to see a bunch of arcade games that he played as a child! He was also excited to play them with our children! I loved how every game was just a quarter! This store also has lots of old Nintendo video games, comic books, figurines and many other neat things!
There is a variety of items available at reasonable prices. I even found something that has long been out of print and expensive everywhere else, but Player's choice had it at less than msrp. The only real downside to this place is how crowded it can get and the shelf/display layout can make it hard to maneuver. The staff is very friendly and always willing to answer questions and help you find what you are looking for.
Great experience!! Very satisfied!! Felt like a blast from the past everything vintage and definitely brought back some childhood memories!! 10000/10 recommended all my gamer lovers come check them out Asap definitely a hidden Gem !
Dude this place is amazing. Great experience. Tons of comic bins to go through. Lots of cool or school arcade games to play (love the 6-player X-men game). Many modern comics to go through with plenty of older comics to go through as well. They also are the only place I've found that sells Pok?mon cards at normal price. Plus tons and tons of video games from all sorts of systems. Keep being awesome dudes.
Player?s Choice might just be the heart and soul of Myrtle Beach! The selection is always great, and the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. The store itself is well-organized and welcoming. I've never had a bad experience here. Highly recommend!
Best store left in the mall. If you like video games this is the place to be. All video game system and game they seem to have. If you like funko toys they have lots of them. They also have some arcade games you can play. Check it out.
Took my son to the arcade and had a blast! Was super happy to play games from my childhood with my child. Games are all 25 cents and in wonderful condition. Will go back again and again, thank you for having this blast from the past!
Fantastic getaway spot to relieve the glory days. Most games are only .25 and are all working!! Everything from the 70s and up is there. Can't go wrong here.
This place is super cool and well worth the visit. We're from out of town and wanted to visit the mall. While this mall is recovering from COVID, we found this gem of a store. 10/10 recommend the visit. The arcade games are 25? to play. The merch is cool. And they have the biggest TARDIS
Excellent place old school arcade in 2 spots and toys new and old. Been coming here for a long long time. Thanks for everything
Awesome store!!!! This place has a little bit of everything for every type of geek. Arcade machines to play, video games to buy, all kinds of collectibles from different fandoms. Comics, shirts, action figures, DVDs, and more I could spend so much time in here looking at everything, it's pretty good-sized store
We absolutely love this place! We live in PA and come to Myrtle for our family vacation every year?we never miss stopping in! Kids could spend all day looking around and spending their quarters. We love that they have opened their eyes to this era and have taken us back to ours! ????
This place is spectacular!!!! Arcade, Pok?mon, Nintendo, SNES, D&D, Anime, comics, plushes, collectibles, Funko Pops, it's basically this nerds paradise!!! Friendly staff and reasonable prices! We come here every year when we are on vacation!
My father has been taking me here for years and I have never left empty handed. So many great games at prices that are worth it. Owners are very nice and personable. I have so many gamecube and Gameboy games from here. They have new things every time I go.
Great store, if you are around you should stop by. Picked up a game and spent some time in the arcade, it was amazing.
Love coming here! They have a super cool shop, with many comics and handbooks. Everything from kids toys, horror comics, old video games/consoles, to prints of games/anime. This place has to be the only thing keeping this mall open. The staff is ALWAYS so friendly and helpful! Love it here
This is a fantastic arcade. Almost all of the famous games from the 80s and 90s are represented here across the two stores, and all of them are only a quarter to play. Several pinball machines are also there to play as well. It's good to see all the historic machines in playable order, even some rare machines.
My husband fell in love instantly. He felt like he went back to his childhood. All games 25 cents. All games worked perfectly. We will be back again soon
I drive past 3 different game stores from conway to show my support! The last 3 times I've been, the staff seems....... stressed/rude when asked a simple question. Love the store and still recommend going.
The main reason I visit that area of Myrtle beach is because of this hidden gem. Players choice is a lot of fun and an affordable option for kids and adults to play games for just a quarter.
It was a fun place to stop on a rainy day of our vacation. Heard about it on Facebook, and am happy we checked it out!
Awesome selection of retro games and collectibles. Very cool arcade next to the store (same owners). Only gripe is that they print out replacement game artwork without notifying the costumer; at least I didn't see a sign anywhere.
We make sure to visit at least one time during our family vacation each year. People are friendly and the selection is always nice. ??
Great place to take your children. They have a retro arcade that takes quarters a lot of 80s 90s games.
They had a great selection of a lot of really cool stuff, I got an awesome Luffy figurine for $25, and a couple things for a few friends. The staff are great to talk to as well, all the ones that were there when I went were really chill and interested in their own specific little category of the store. I even had a nice chat about some anime with one of the people, I sorta regret not asking them if they'd want to watch the new season of something that's coming out eventually, but it's alright, I still got s
I stopped by the store today and picked up some comics. The store really has some great stuff I highly recommend people stopping by!
The place is amazing!! It has retro video games, comics, anime, posters, a chance to play arcade games and more!! The person at the register, Josh, is a kind person to talk to. The people there are helpful and you will have a great time there. The prices are reasonable and not too expensive.
Lots of stuff to choose from in comics, games, movies, figures, etc. Everything I saw was either fairly priced with what the market was at, or a great deal. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You can spend all day here and keep finding new things but the store is not confusing. It's laid out really well with plenty of room.
Such an awesome spot. They have everything for your gamer needs, I even managed to snag a Geto and Sesshomaru funko pop, I have never seen them before. They have shirts, funko pops, plushies, artwork, figures, anything you could think of. My boyfriend stops in every year and this was my first time coming along, so I had to visit this place twice! Also Josh is so sweet! He was helpful and you could tell he loves gaming! All the staff is attentive to the customers and ask if you need help. Def a place to st
If you love old gaming consoles, video games, comics, and card games. They have it all. The owner and the staff will do whatever they can to help you get what you want. Very helpful and friendly people.
Player?s Choice is the best place in Myrtle Beach/North MB for all your retro needs from old school games, comics, toys and they even give you the most top dollar for you traded ins. The bonus are 70s / 80s ARCADES you can play .25 a games like back in the days. So please stop you'll be happy I told you so.
Huge selection of games, systems, DVD's, comics, collectibles. A few dozen coin-ops and pinball machines. All a quarter. Next door is there arcade. Lot of fun. Staff was ok.
I got my gameboy color here three years ago, and I got my gameboy advance sp here. I love the amount of vintage items in this store. :) But a question I've had for a while, do they do reshells?
Great staff, friendly. Lots of items you wont find elsewhere. Great selection of cards, comics, memorabilia.
So much cool stuff! Games, movies, posters, anime, manga, and more! And the retro video games in the arcade are a great way to spend an hour or so. Definitely gotta check this place out ????
Best videogame store in sc. Prices are on the higher side but everything else is perfect.
Nice staff, the events used to be better but they cater to their friends too much allowing them to show up after the start time and still play. Making everyone else have to wait and play later then they needed to. The last prerelease also they assumed we all bought boxes from another store so they played constructed with new cards for the prerelease that not everyone had. Which made it unfair and harder to get the new set of cards since that's what prereleases are supposed to be for getting new product to p
Great place! the guy that owns and runs it is to be commended. Bringing something to do at a deserted mall . He keeps the games at 25 cents . That is awesome. I go there every time I go to the mall. He has lots of 80s games and a blacklight arcade. If you never been you need to go and support him.
About three to four years ago I was in a Game Stop and I asked if there were any mom and pop stores, or any flee markets that deal with old school game systems, and games. I was actually alerted to this place by a fellow customer within the Game Stop at the time. I'm so happy he told me about this place. It's so much better than Game Stop, and at least there's another second to play old school Arcade machines. The only time I come to this store is when I'm on vacation. I live in CT, and my parents live her
This is always such a cool store to shop in. Afterwords, we like to spend some time in the owner's retro arcade. Very cool!
Almost 5 star and what dropped it may be an issue beyond their control. We went yesterday because I scoped it on line and we needed to kill an hour before checking into the hotel. The mall is definitely an older establishment, most places were closed. The stores AC/ventilation seemed a bit inconsistent and that is what knocked the point off. May not be their fault but if you have a loved one with special health needs, that may help you prepare for your visit. That aside, this place is what I'd imagine
Stopped here randomly on vacation because of the cool window display. Upon walking in I was mesmerized by the abundance of pin ball machines and old arcade games. Huge plus that they only cost a quarter to play! My toddler enjoyed the Spiderman ride and my mother in law had a blast with the pin ball machines. Employees were helpful! I would definitely visit again.
A great little shop all the way around. Entire family loves it. This is must at least twice a vacation for us each year, if I lived closer I would be there even more. Great anime and manga collection. Nice staff . Only complaint is the store is very hot so sometimes it hard to stay as long as I would like.
Stopped in with the family while on vacation from Ohio. Had an excellent experience! Found some TCG packs that I haven't been able to find in stores in my own state which made me super happy!! Also got to spend some quality time playing the vintage arcade games with my wife and daughter. Highly recommend checking them out ?? P.s Also had a nice conversation with one of the employees about One Piece and Dragon Ball
As a happy tourist, stumbling upon Player's Choice in an otherwise quiet mall was like finding a hidden gem. The store has a huge retail selection, catering to an impressive array of fandoms. The arcade was a delightful surprise, with a variety of games at a fantastic bargain. The affordable snacks and drinks were an appreciated touch, providing the perfect fuel to keep playing longer. The real highlight, however, was the staff. The employees were incredibly kind, friendly, and knowledgeable, enhancing th
Player's Choice is a top notch experience. I love introducing friends to the store. It has a wide selection of pretty much everything nerdy, from comics and anime to video games and D&D and tons of collectibles. In addition they have a large number of classic arcade games and pinball machines. You can spend hours in this place, just hanging out. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Rowan always takes care of me when I come in to trade some of my older video games or collectibles, and if they aren't b
I had spent a week in Myrtle Beach and could not find any Godzilla collectibles that didn't cost an arm or a leg. Then, I stumbled across this store and was in complete awe. There are so many options and they are very affordable, definitely coming back on my next trip!
Just an awesome retro gaming, arcade, comics, and collectibles store! Bring $ for the quarter arcade next door they have some very cool oldies like Super Mario bros arcade, TMNT, Marvel, Castlevania, etc
Awesome owners and very friendly staff. They go above and beyond to help you!!!! Definitely going to be a returning customer!!!!
Incredible selection of games and plush toys! Friendly staff too!
THIS IS A MOSTLY COMIC RELATED REVIEW. Really the gem of the otherwise run down mall. I have been here several times as I have a condo close by. This store is really a blend of gaming, nostalgia and comics. They have new issues along the wall, in relatively good order by publishers and then alphabetical. They have tons of back issue long boxes...tons. now, 60% or so are by title, but they also have plenty of boxes that are random across let's say mostly copper to modern Era. Fun to sift through, but
This store has a good amount of items such as old games, comic books and manga. They have a good amount of wii games which was what I was specifically looking for. The games I bought worked like a charm and were like new. Overall a nice store, but it can get a good bit loud because of the arcade games in the store, so if your sensitive to noise I recommend wearing headphones
Fantastic shop full of games, comics, movies, anything nerds and geeks like me could want. The arcade is full of classic games and plenty of new and old pinball games. All games are only a quarter so it's a fantastic value to spend a few hours playing games.
If you love retro games, arcades, and/or comics you will love this place! They got you covered!! Free console testing, plus, what kid wouldnt want a picture with Spider Man for $0.25?!?
I always stop here when we visit the beach. Lots of great Collectibles, prices are fair, and the arcade is a nice throwback. I usually buy at least one thing to support a unique, small business. If you want to geek out this is the place to go.
Wonderful set of locations (both store front and retro arcade) in what unfortunately seemed like a pretty dead mall. Loved how this retro arcade still uses quarters for their cabinets. I've got a local place near me that has all their machines set to free play and has a fixed fee to get it in. Just doesn't hit the same way.
25 cent pins and they are in good condition, not beaters. More next door. Grave yard 2 doors down is interesting. I'm guessing this is more of a collector than an operator.
Such a cool place. Old games that bring back a lot of memories!
They have a large selection of retro games and anime themed apparel and figures.
Used to love the shop they ised to have in Shallotte, I am full happy to see how it has grown over the years. ??
This place is so flipping cool, old school games in great condition for the full nostalgic affect. Whether you love pinball or old school mortal combat or X-Men. Any 80s or 90s kid is going to have a blast. Virginia is really cool and super helpful she is definitely an asset to this place. Second post: years later and this place has only gotten more epic. Every old game you can think of and it's only 25 cents a play. Literally took me and my daughter an hour and a half to spend ten bucks. Dave and busters w
Cool little hobby store. Located in the Myrtle Beach mall, which is kinda scary lol
The high quality wolf t-shirts they sell in the front make me feel so alpha ??
Nice dollar box comic selection, lots of back issues, and a whole manga section.
This place is awesome! I have never seen so many restored classic arcade games that are available to play for on a quarter each. And everything works! They also have a nice selection of pinball machines, old and new that also only cost .25 per play. If you like arcade games and pinball machines, its worth the drive. Oh, and the store has some really cool stuff to buy as well!
My kids love this place, it has some of everything game wise. And the comics and ECT are unmatched. It's also light on the pocket for entertainment with it's quarter arcade and the games are from my childhood so it shows the games I grew up loving to my kids!
Place is really good. It has a lot of demon slayer, one peice, and dbz figures. They also have a lot of posters, video games, funkos, and comics. I come here everytime I go to Myrtle and every experience has been good. The people that work there are friendly and there is also a lot of old school 80?s arcade games that can be played there.
Great selection, great atmosphere, and fair prices.
Great staff, super friendly and super helpful. Helped me find what I was looking for !! My son and I drove about 2 1/2 hours there, well worth the drive. Sadly, we don't get to go there very often due to my son's work scheadule. Great people !!
Flash back to the past. This place is awesome! Super amazed how much things have changed but was such fun to be a kid again 25cents every game. A must!
Amazing store, great selection of games, they have awesome trade in prices as well. It was this store that got me into retro gaming and older games in general. I love this store and hope it never closes down. The prices are also amazing, usually 5 to 10 bucks lower than E-Bay prices on more pricey games.
Great store. A really good selection of old school arcade games, and only $0.25 a play. Some of these cost more than that to play when they were first released 30+ years ago! They had a legit collection of old school games of all the systems you can think of. There were plenty of common $10 and under games and a lot of the rare expensive stuff to. Lots of collectibles there, plus a big comics section. That's not my thing so I can't comment on that. It was the most popular store in the mall by far.
hatsune miku. i love hatsune miku. i will be coming back when i am in south carolina again. i love this store so much
Very cool place.about 15 stand up video consoles.a south park pinball machine,a few shoot em up games, motorcycle and driving sit down games and all of them only 25 cents per play.i could spend all day here.definitely will be back.if you haven't been here you must stop by and check it out.
Players Choice is a great store. They have great variety of games for most systems as well as stuffed animals, comic books and arcade games. Also has an arcade next door for you play retro games. Highly recommended!!
My 6 year old son LOVES this place and the people who run it are very nice to him. As a bonus, there's a pizza place with slices at the food court and the pizza is solid
Honestly this is one of my favorite spots to chill and shop and play in the Myrtle Beach area. Loads of classic old arcade and vintage pinball games to play, still costing just a quarter! Tons of old system games on sale from Super Nintendo to Sega Saturn to PlayStation 2! If you are a fan of video games, comics, anime, action figures, and much more, check out this huge video game paradise in the mall!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
