They force you to buy $5 worth of tokens at a time, which is 20 tokens. Not a bad deal at all, BUT. Once you realize that everyone gets bored and puts unused tokens in the machines, you notice that a lot of the games already have money in them. So I actually had a hard time using all my tokens. I got hooked on the original Mario Brothers but was set to free. So before you know my beer was gone, I had flipped dozens of crabbies and still had a full cup of tokens. Many of the games were broken or screens wer
SO MUCH FUN! We had all had a really busy day and were pretty tired but decided to go out for some games and drinks, and I am so happy we did. I have been to about a half a dozen barcades on the east coast in Boston and other parts of New England. But this place was awesome. Drinks we're amazing, beer selection was massive, cocktails were delicious and the bartender was friendly and skilled. The machines were in great condition and well maintained. The front room had a large variety of pinball machines (at
In your 40's? I am & I can't believe I haven't been here before. SO MUCH FUN! So many childhood video game memories I forgot about. So many games. Atmosphere is fun. I brought my kiddos and wife (Kids can go with adult until 7pm) and they enjoyed too! Check it out. I don't go to bars but this is one I will I'll revisit soon. & it didn't smell like a bar either!
This is my absolute favorite bar I've ever been to! It's so much fun being able to enjoy good drinks with your friends while also playing all kinds of classic games, from Super Mario, to Guitar Hero, and of course to Pinball. This would definitely be the perfect bar to hang out at with your DD as there is plenty to keep them occupied without drinking. One of the neat things I noticed they have is they have a different deal every night of the week such as free tokens with every drink on Tuesdays or discounte
Legit drove an hour solely to play Area 51 (THANK YOU for listing your lineup on your site) ? and was so pleasantly surprised. The whole vibe is great. The bartender was lovely and was quick to help out when a game froze. I don't really drink but I'm not coming to a bar and not getting anything ? and the Gengar was very good! We spent about 2 hours there ? very chill, other customers also very chill. I would live here if I could. (Inside the arcade). The only complaint is that I live an hour away. If you ev
A great little Barcade in the heart of downtown Appleton. Video games are only one token/ quarter and pinball machines are only 50 cents. Great atmosphere and a good alcohol/beer selection.
This. Place. Is. Dope!! When you walk in you think you're in a solid arcade, and then there's more!!! The place is deep and there's more arcade games in the back with an extra bar. Great games. Classic and new. Wish i was closer to frequent more often. Dope movie posters and comics cover the walls. Tournaments and more..
Great place for fun, need more of these types of places in Appleton. Need to talk to the bartender for tokens, only "downside", good classic games and super solid pinball action.
Such a fun place... they had many arcade games that I grew up with and so much more. One full bar, one half bar. Bathrooms have 3 stalls and they have a comic book wall. There needs to be better ventilation or leave the door open at all times. Can be very stuffy/musty smelling.
The only complaint I have is that more times than not the pinball boards aren't calibrated correctly so magnet pulls happen more often than they should. They also don't rotate their arcade machines and I'm not super impressed by their arcade gaming options. Still a great place to hang out but I wish the owners took better care of the place.
It's always fun at Player 2. The games are fun & $20 gets you a long way. A good variety of games, from arcade & pinball to N64. It wasn't very busy when we were there & there were very few games that were out of order.
I come here for Pinball, but it's always so dark inside that it negatively impacts the experience. Drinks and prices are good though. Edit: There is a difference between low light to allow for the playfield to pop and light so low some tables are unplayable due to poor visibility. Also, maintain your games.
Great place for pinball altho almost all the pins had some issues but that's not uncommon with pinball machines, still was able to play and have fun, great service and prices!!
Great place to play pinball and some old arcade games. Relatively quiet in the late afternoon. Good selection of games.
This place has such a great concept, classic arcade games and drinks! The drinks are even reasonably priced. They have themed pinball machines also. Plus if you get a high score on one of the arcade machines they'll put your name on the wall until someone tops it. This place is full of nostalgia and has nearly every classic game you can think of. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely be going back.
Good spot to grab a beer and play pinball. Maybe an hour to waste. Lots of broken arcade games. Not kid friendly if your worried about adult language. Was there during the day. Language was the issue. Mrs pacman just ate a token. Terminator right gun had no on screen aiming sights. 4 player battle Pac-Man has joystick broken. Off road racing game went dark.
I absolutely love this bar and I don't even drink alcohol. Saturday morning cartoons is awesome. All the kids love the retro games and pinball. Thank you for setting this up every first Saturday of the month.
A great little place to have some fun. Their games are good and the staff is friendly.
I love this place! I had to be dragged out by my wife cuz I love arcade games
Such a fun place! You couldn't possibly get bored or have a bad experience! Very friendly bartender and a great variety of beer and cocktails to chose from. Not to mention the game selection! A must see!
The themed drinks are amazing and the arcade games are all set at 1 token per play so the number of games you get for even the $5 token option is ridiculous. All in all an amazing place
Seriously love this place!! Great specials, super friendly staff. We've always had fun here, and I'm getting WAY better at Burger time! The fun and friendly staff make this our favorite place in Appleton (and that's a tall order!)
The place was great since it was the first time we had been there. We got a couple of free tokens. The games were cool worth going back.
25 cent games, and they're so fun!
What a fun place to play some games! I visited with 2 co-workers & we split a cup of tokens. The games were truly the only reason we stopped in. The pinball machines were so fun! Glad we found this place to hang out & play fun arcade games!
Great specials, friendly staff and everybody loves pinball and games.
Awesome place ! Price was good, atmosphere was fun, def worth a visit !
Fun and trendy bar and arcade in downtown Appleton. Drinks were fairly priced and pinball machines are cheap; 10 bucks in tokens will get you very far. Many options for pinball and multiple rooms. Player 2 can get crowded, which is the main drawback.
The games are in great condition and we had a lot of fun.
Just putting this as 3 stars because you have to put a star amount to write a review and honestly, we were only here for 5 minutes. Wanted to write a review, though, as a PSA in a way. Staying at a downtown hotel for my birthday weekend and my boyfriend and I prefer to walk when we are in a new place so we usually have backpacks with us to carry some water and utilize if we bought something along the way. We walked past here the other day and there is no signage that backpacks aren't allowed. So today,
I love the Player 2 in Green Bay so I thought I would check out one in Appleton. It wasn't a terrible experience but it could be better. The bartender that was there Saturday night 7/29/23 wasn't friendly maybe she was overwhelmed but it isn't okay to skip over customers. I don't know if I'll be back to that location or not.
Such a cool place. Great drinks and services. Really love the atmosphere here. I'll be back sometime soon.
Bartender was very friendly. Great atmosphere. 2 for 1 tokens on Wednesdays was awesome. Was my first time coming. Amazing selection of games. Was a blast for all of us to play. House Cocktails were great. Definitely recommend the Blue Bomber. You will not be disappointed with this place!
Great staff, great deals. Fun place to go to with friends. Decent selection of classic games. I would personally like to see a better beer selection but that's probably not what they're going for. Sometimes games go down but they're probably older than some of the clientele so that's understandable and staff is generous with reimbursement when you report a broken machine.
I love it here. The staff is friendly and the owners are smart. The selection of games consist of arcade classics & pin ball. It's a lot of fun! The selection of games is very good. Also, the first Saturday of every month you can bring your kids (it's a kid friendly zone during that time). I am really glad Player 2 is in Appleton! I'd give it more stars if I could. Can't say enough positive about this place!
Love love love. Game selection is spot on, something for literally everyone. The decor is insane and will knock you back a few decades. Fun theme signature drinks and shots. Pinball pinball pinball! We were there from 9p-12am on a Saturday night, there was such a fun vibe, and so many different age groups and personalities. It didn't feel like the normal Ave. crowed. And might sound weird, but the bathrooms were really nice for being a bar...on the ave... Seriously. Lastly, the staff was all amazing, sweet,
Love this place! Manitowoc needs a pinball pub just like this...until then I'll just have to make the occasional trip to get my pinball fix! Great, friendly and knowledgeable bartenders with good drink menu and great selection of local cold brews. Classic video games too. Machines seem clean and well maintained and different ones are switched out periodically. The newest and best pinball versions to try out. Can't wait to get back. They had a 2 for 1 token special when i visited...just wish i didn't have to
Wonderful concept for a bar! Classic arcade games from all walks of video game life! Trophy Hunting, Area 51, Marvel vs. Capcom, Super Mario Brothers, Millipede, just to name a few! Tokens are paid for at the bar with your drinks, and you can play as long as the tokens last. Nearly a dozen tables of Pinball, Pacman 4 player, even a Nintendo Switch was set up that had Super Smash Brothers playing. 10/10, will come back again! Some machines were out of order, but that's to be expected with these old games. Th
This was one of the most fun places I have been to in this area. Drinks were a good price, tokens were cheap for games, and the staff was excellent. I usually only have one drink but I had enjoyed my time so much I had way more than that. Keep on doing what you're doing Player 2! You guys are awesome!
Love their drinks and shots, but it gets too crazy busy for me and too long to get either a drink or a shot. Best to come in earlier than the crowd or later in my opinion. Overall it's a great and unique bar!
Ok, I have to say this place is amazing. They only serve pizza, but we had beers and old-school video games, so that's all you need! They let us carry in food, and we just had a great time. 10/10 will play again!
Player 2 is great. The atmosphere and the old games make it great!. Along with my favorite beer and tokens I lost myself for a couple hours playing the games I loved as a kid!
Excellent atmosphere and dozens of great games to play. While some of the drink prices were average at best, Wednesday's buy-one-get-one token deal is terrific and will ensure hours of fun. Pinball? Pac-Man? Player 2 is the place to be.
Lots of games, friendly staff, big beers, awesome time!
We will definitely be returning to this bar. The atmosphere was amazing and so was the drinks. The shots were amazing and did not require a chaser like i have had in the past. Time flew by because we were having so much fun.
Very laid back atmosphere. Always nice to sip a drink and play some games and forget about the real world and having conversation! Just go with your friends or s/o, sip a drink and take it easy??Pretty good amount of room. About 9 pinball machines and maybe 30 arcade games. Enough games with enough room without feeling cramped.
This is probably one of my favorite bars I've ever been to. The specialty drinks were super good, and our bartender was amazing. Only spent $5 on tokens for the arcade games and it lasted longer than I thought it would. Definitely going back again.
Always a good time, they have a great selection of games and a good atmosphere. It is usually pretty crowded and sometimes difficult to maneuver because of all the machines. There are definitely game hogs from time to time so it takes a while to get to your favorite game but that isn't on the place. Definitely go when the coins for 2 for 1.
I was visiting a friend and she decided we spend the evening here. I love frequenting arcade bars but there's something special about this one. I appreciated the 80s films playing on the tvs and the film posters on the walls were great. There was a decent selection of beers and I was happy that they offered full pizzas (just the frozen kind, but that played to the theme of the bar in my opinion). There is a decent selection of games and people were happy to play with anyone and take turns at the more popula
The bartenders really do not care at all about service. I had money in my hand, walked straight in to an empty section of the bar while my wife and friends found a place to sit at the back bar. My friend's wife was able to walk to the back, check out games, have the 3 of them get settled, walk back up to the front bar, place an order for food and get drinks made before the 3 bartenders there even bothered to acknowledge I was standing there with a $20 bill in my hand and I am 6'5 250 lbs man. Hard to miss.
Last night was my 21st birthday. The bartender was super nice and helped me find drinks I would like. They gave me tips about the different types of drinks out there, and ways to handle my hangover this morning. They made my birthday fun and safe. All of my friends, and boyfriend, who went agree.
This place is awesome, this place has cool pinball machines and old school arcade games that you can play, its awesome ??????
I love arcade games. There's a good selection of classic arcade games, pinball, and even a big screen with a Nintendo 64 set up with a decent selection of games to play. They have good drink specials almost every day. Great beer selection too, both on tap and bottled. My wife and I could stand there and play pinball for hours. I always seem to come away with tokens that keep me going back
Great games, great atmosphere. The owners do an amazing job of keeping up with maintenance ok n their machines. So happy to have a place like this in the fox valley area. Their Wednesday and Sunday specials are amazing. PLUS! They play old school movies that will make you feel young again!
Blown away that I haven't gone here sooner. Had an absolute blast. Perfect spot for a date night. Games are reasonable priced and $5 goes a long way.
This place is super fun. It looks like they have drink specials every day and also alot of games as well. The tokens are decently priced too. I will be coming back often now and the pinball machines stole the show. (Besides guitar hero).
Epic nostalgia blast in the face. I saw games in there that instantly brought me bach to my childhood. I was never good at them, but damn, I loved playing them. Front part of the bar seemed less crowded even though that's where the main bar is. Back part of bar where most of the games were was 5he most crowded with a small bar. Loved the walkway with the comic book covers. Great place. Can't wait to go back.
Games are well taken care of. Lots of old classics and mix of more recent games with a Switch and N64 for good measure. Price per game is very reasonable, $10 will get you far. Prices of drinks seemed reasonable.
Awesome environment! Loved playing so many games from my childhood. They have some very unique and delicious cocktails. Great place to have a fun night!
I would live here. Good beers. Great games. Friendly and fun!
I like coming here when in WI. Plenty of classic machines and pins to choose from, ranging from 1 to 2 tokens. Never stays overly crowded considering the arcade scene is dying pretty bad in Appleton. The age restrictions of 21+ only is great, which the condition of most of these machines show how well kept they are, and not having to worry about kids banging & destroying parts. They even ask for your ID at the door, and that's a good policy to adhere to. My favorite game in this location is Tron. Sadly Virt
Pros: Lots of fun games. Cons: Over-priced! Tap beer made me sick. Place smelled rank from some of the other patrons body odor. Some of the games controls were broken. Dirty establishment. We didnt even use all the tokens we bought because we didnt want to stay long enough to use them all. Gross. ????
Awesome Bar! Great games! Awesome draft taps! Affordable drinks. Great atmosphere! Friendly Staff! The only problem is they are within walking distance of my house- I will be there far too much!
Great idea and concept. The decor is awesome. My only issue is it is in need of a good cleaning and way too many games that are defective in one way or another.
Great bar when it's not packed. Which is like always. So that speaks to its success in the area. I love the drink options the gaming aspect and the bartenders are all very pleasant and prompt! Again I just prefer to be there when it's a little less chaotic.
This is totally worth a stop!!! This place has everything an old school game could want. All the retro games are offered at a nostalgic price and the consoles are a in good condition. The bar is full service and provides a good variety of libations. The pinball games cost two coins, but all are in very good working condition and worth the extra currency. Being an adult venue makes it feel like you can be your unique, nerdy self. Having change on hand makes the parking situation easier and, if you follow the
I love this bar! Great location, a game for everyone, cheap to play! They have fun gamer-themed drinks and shots, as well as your run of the mill beers and cocktails. Would highly recommend you visit if you're on college ave!
So we love coming here, but recently we've gradually stopped because the bartenders are so rude. There's one really nice guy named Dominic, but other than that we haven't met one kind bartender. They vape while making drinks (which normally I wouldn't care about but a little weird if you can't smoke inside), say nasty comments about other bartenders to customers, don't smile or say anything friendly at all, and you just don't feel welcomed. We used to love coming to a bar where we could be our nerdy selfs,
Great selection of retro games and beer. Once you're done here head over to HOME BURGER BAR for a burger and more beer. Player 2 should bring back Sunset Riders...but that aside I will definitely be back soon.
You can never go wrong coming here for some fun! All my tokens go to the Jurassic Park Pinball and Raiden. I think they have some great specials as well like 2 for 1 tokens on Wednesday and the drink/token special on Sundays. They have pinball tournaments and I have seen a Mario Cart tournament in action!
I liked the idea of this bar but it was pretty crowded! The machines take up a lot of room and once this place fills up its pretty cramped. This building is too skinny for what it's being used for. The bartender was attentive and there were plenty of games to play, and at only 25 cents a play we were here for over an hour and only spent $5!
Went here for my first time and wasn't disappointed. $5 gets you 20 tokens to play games. They have good tap beers, for a prices but also have free gaming besides there pinball and arcade.
Pro: Location on College Ave. [Potentially] a good, quick stop if you are new to the area or traveling. Discriminatory staff, a lack of professionalism, and limited maintenance of this establishment is enough deterrence. I would leave a lengthier review, however, the owners response to previous reviews demonstrates an inability to handle constructive criticism so I am not going to waste any more of my time. If you decide to visit, please remain vigilant of your surroundings.
This was an awesome experience. When you walked in you felt comfortable right away. There are many bars around Appleton that you do not feel that way when you walk in. No one judged you as you walked in. There was a vast selection of games. It was our first time there and we spent about two hours there and could have stayed longer if our internal bed time clocks didn't click in. I definitely recommend this Arcade Bar.
GREAT place for friends or a date night, but drinks are very overpriced. UPDATE: The game prices are indeed spectacular, you can play for a very long time on a handful of coins. Maybe pregame before here though!
This place is great if you are a complete nerd, which I am. It brought me back to my childhoodwhen I was in there, The Switch Mario Kart was extremely fun to play. Even though I lost to a guy who doesn't drink and was wearing a fedora. Can't believe it. Great time though!
It was a really great night. Myself and my roommate traveled from the Dells on her birthday. We were captivated by the pinball machines. The only reason I would not give five stars is that I told the bartender that the soap and paper towel dispenser were both empty. She thanked us for telling her and did nothing about it. I'm glad I didn't do more than pee.
The bartenders are always friendly, and they are also very knowledgeable about the fantastic beer selection. This bar also plays the best music you'll find in any tavern downtown - whether it be the patrons jukebox selections, or the internet music played by the house. The patrons are respectful, and friendly as well.
Its a fun place but some of their joy sticks on their games are losing sensitivity, it's like u gotta put pressure on them just to make the character move around
Great old school games, cheap creative drinks, and All games for a quarter!!!!!! What gamer could say no!
It's cool once. Not really worth the hype. Heavy metal music plays loud constantly. To get to the back room you have to walk by the bathrooms that smell awful. No where to really sit except at the bar. Can easily play all the games you'd want to play for $5 and leave. Not somewhere to hang out all night.
The game selection pretty good but a little maintenance could go a long way. A majority of the fighting games are unplayable due to the condition of the sticks, and plenty of other games need some cap kits thrown at the monitors. Overall I like the place because of the environment, game selection, and prices but the lack of upkeep is really disappointing.
I love this barcarde! I have been here a handful of times and have loved it everytime I have been here. The arcade machines are all 1 or two tokens. They have different specials everyday. First 2 hours of the first Saturday every month are all ages. The rest of the time its 21 up so if you have kids there is a time you can bring them and if you dont like kids, most of the time you dont have to worry. The have lots of beers on tap and have a fully staffed bar. The staff is fantastic. They have lots of
Honestly, arcade bars are amazing. For those of us who don't need journey playing 24/7 to have fun this is the place to be. Get down with some awesome arcade games and just have fun. Go alone or with a group. Good beer, mixed drinks but plan on it being busy during the weekend. Oh and save your tokens!!!
A nice bar. The location is solid and the staff are friendly and helpful. The game selection is fantastic. There are lots of retro cabinets and some newer ones too but most are from the early 90s and are very welcome to see. Highlights include Avengers, X-Men, Simpson's, TMNT, Guitar Hero and Sunset Riders. The only problem with the games is that some of the cabinets are pretty old and could use a little maintainence. Joysticks can be loose or sticky and buttons a little unresponsive. Worse still some of th
I wish I could even give a review of this place but sadly was turned away before I even got a drink, I'm turning 29 tomorrow and have never once since turning 21 been turned away from a bar because of my ID so guess I won't be giving my business here again Edit: I guess it wasn't clear enough before I did present my ID to the bartender thats not the problem the problem was that despite me showing it I was refused to be served. She didn't do anything to check the validity of my physical ID. She asked me a qu
We went last night for opening night and had an absolute blast! Variety of great games to play, an N64 for Mario Kart, Smash Bros and, GoldenEye, TVs playing Tommy Boy and Back to the Future. We got there at 8:00 and stayed until close hanging out the the fantastic staff! Despite living in Oshkosh and having a bit of a drive to get there, Player 2 will be our go to bar!
Red head obnoxious bartender girl who was working july 3rd around 1am gave the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Will not be back, she was yelling for no reason and you can tell everyone in the bar was annoyed with her. She was super rude!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Yes, rhythm games in arcades are a vibrant hit in 2025! Titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania deliver high-energy fun, blending music, movement, and precision. Modern machines boast vivid displays, booming sound systems, and diverse song libraries, from J-pop to EDM. They challenge reflexes and rhythm, with competitive leaderboards and tournaments fostering a lively community. Arcade dance floors are regularly packed, proving rhythm games’ immersive, physical thrill keeps them a standout in today’s gaming scene.
