Pinball has a sentimental place in wife and my hearts and we wanted to have a date and find pinball to play. This place is better than we hoped. There are so many pinball games. They are well taken care of and updated. There is a bar and seating to hang out and kick back. There is even a league and tournaments every Monday night if you really enjoy playing. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for this laid back, and fun spot to spend some time and some tokens.

Amazing pinball arcade!! I have been looking for a place like this for quite some time, and I'm very happy with Player 1 Arcade. This retro location is nostalgia personified, from its classic dim arcade lighting to the comic book artwork adorning the exposed brick walls to its variety of arcade games (the focus being, of course, old school pinball machines.) There is a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to drink, merchandise to buy, and bags of candy for sale behind the counter. They hold pin

Do you want to travel back in time? Do you miss pinball and the sound of clinking quarters? What if I told you it still exists in Surprise today, with a bar? Player 1 Arcade doesn't serve food, but they offer fun! I love beer sours, and they had four options, one on tap. The blueberry warhead sour was phenomenal. Service was great; we chatted. They had childhood games like Street Fighter, Galaga and Elvira. Check the murals in all three bathrooms (different themes). My favorite was the Take on Me mural, but

I have been there twice in the past 6 months and won't go back again. My first experience was just OK. The staff wasn't very friendly and it seemed that they didn't really want to be there. I figured maybe it was an off day. A ball got stuck on one of the pinball machines and asked the guy at the counter to help us out which he made us feel line we were inconveniencing him. But since they had some machines I really wanted to pay I decided to give them another chance. The second time I went there, the staf

Stopped in with my 7 year old on a Saturday night and had a blast. The arcade has a ton of pinball machines and approx 12 80?s-90?s style arcade games. The bar also has a great selection, with both beers on-tap and lots of canned and bottled options. Sours, IPA?s, Ciders and even non-alcoholic beer. 20 bucks and the cost of a drink got us through 2 hours of fun. Highly recommend supporting this local small business over the many chain spots in Surprise.

Ate my $5 really quick, 10 minutes. 90% of the balls went straight down the middle. I had one ball lost down the sides in four games. If it's just unlucky, this is the unluckiest place I've ever been to.???? After that proprietor response, I give this establishment a negative 5. Do not even enter it. I've been playing pinball for 50 years. Too bad you are so butt hurt.

Lots of awesome pinball machines, some retro arcade games and the much loved big buck hunter game. They also have alcoholic beverages. Great way to spend a bit of time. Bring quarters.

Great place if you want to have a drink and play some pinball. The games are in excellent condition.

Player 1 Arcade is one of our go to hang outs. Kevin always keeps the pinball machines cleans and the beers cold - and everyone who works there is awesome. One of my favorite local bars and arcades!!!

We had a lot of fun playing video games. $10 two people can play quite a while. They also have nice drinks. Recommend if you are near surprise.

Love the atmosphere here! Great place to grab a drink & play pinball. Kids loved playing street fighter, mortal kombat, Donkey Kong and many more. Spent about $20 on tokens for about an hour of fun for three. Artwork is magnificent!

Looking for some Friday night fun and we came across Player 1 Arcade. We enjoyed some old school games and drinks. Very friendly, great service and fun times.

How come there isn't 10 stars on the rating sheet? I would give 100 if I could. I am a non-resident of AZ and I was a resident, I would be in Arcade everyday. They have Avery nice selection of well maintained Pinball machines with video screens on the walls above for easy viewing especially during their Pinball Tourneys on Mondays. Plus they have about 12 other standup and sit down old skool video games. Just wish they had Joust & Tempest. Kevin, the owner, is true to the game and is the right fit for his A

Support this small business!!! It's a total gemstone here in Surprise. Most of surprise is filled with chain stores and chain restaurants with subpar experiences. Player 1 was a total fun date night with my girlfriend. We got great service, great choice of craft beer & seltzers. Church Music Hazy IPA was so good. The pinball games are really fun to play but pricey. The arcade games are great with a good solid choice considering the size of the place.

Update #2- this place is my weekly habit, The machines always work, the owner is super friendly and the local beers on tap are soo good. Even if it looks busy, there's always an open game. 100% recommend visiting. Have a beer or two, get 5$ in tokens and enjoy an hour or two. OP- My new favorite watering hole! Tons of local beers (cans, bottles, and on tap) and a bunch of cool retro games. Most are only 1 token (pinball is usually 4 tokens). Grab some food from one of the restaurants in the area and br

Nice small nitch in the Surprise neighborhood for sure. Mostly pinball machines, but the family definitely had fun. Very clean and I love the art. I would definitely recommend.

Love to head here on Monday nights for their Pinball League. Great group of people and all their machines are in optimal condition! Pretty rare on my experience? You can grab a beer and play a wide variety of pinball like Stranger Things, Rush, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and many more. Plus, there's a taco place and a sushi place next door! What else could you need?

We were bored today and decided to finally stop in and check the arcade out. Decent selection of machines and games and thought it was cool that they had screens so you can watch whoever is playing. Loved the artwork on the walls and in the bathroom. We enjoyed our visit even though it was quick. Seemed like a nice spot to grab a beer once in awhile.

We're lucky to have this place nearby. It used to be that my daughter would ask to go to Dave and Busters, now she asks to come here. Great beer selection, friendly people and a great array of pinball / old arcade games.

Love this place. It's where me and my son can have fun together. Love the old school games. Thank you for coming to Surprise!

Great pinbar! Staff is amazing and the machines are well maintained with a great variety. Highly recommend.

Excellent. Wont find a better place for pinball in the West Valley. Machines work great and are maintained to the highest level. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Not a dive bar with some tables. It's a pinball first atmosphere with an excellent bar to boot. A must visit location for pinball fans.

Always a pleasure going here! Awesome arcade games and plenty of pinball games. Fun to watch the tvs of people playing when it's busy.

Great little stop we made while we were in town. Shockingly quiet and chill for an arcade bar. We went on a Friday night and it was busy but not packed and could play anything we wanted. Tons of pinball machines and a nice selection of other games. Very good value on the games IMO. Between 3 people we spent $10 on tokens and played quite a bit. Drink selection was very good as well, with nice service.

Good spot, machines could use some balance repairs, but do like that you can just use quarters!

Great place! Owner and staff are super friendly. Music is good, brews are great and games are excellent!!!

Absolutely love this place. It's the perfect spot to have a drink and play some pinball. Their selection is top notch and the prices are just right. Highly recommended to pinball players and non-players alike. Definitely coming back.

This place is a fantastic local spot. A great place to come chill with friends for a beer and conversation without the atmosphere being too loud. There's a fun collection of pinball games and a nostalgic feeling of ease being here. The owner is really nice too ??

Really fun place for kids big or small! I love their pinball machines and decor.

Smaller than I expected, but more fun as well. Staff was great. Games were fun, they have a high score board and app if you're into that. Good beers on tap and some good cocktails as well. You can use tokens or quarters. You can bring in food if you want, they sell little snacks behind the bar as well. If you enjoy pinball or just a chill, fun atmosphere then this place is definitely recommended.

The west side needed a barcade, and Player 1 does not disappoint with their selection of machines and beer. The staff were friendly and very down to Earth too!

Great little place to have a local craft beer, play some old-timey arcade games and listen to good ol' 80's music. Perfect place to have a beer and let the kids see if they can hang w the old-man Mortal Kombat.

Best place ever! Great vibes, great service, great pinball machines!

Played for all of 15 minutes before I was told there is a tournament and I was kicked out. No word about it until after I converted my money into arcade chips. They said in response to a different review tournaments are posted online as if the average consumer is going to be following them online. Doors hung open as if posting it on the door makes it clear and event is happening.

Great people, Pinball + retro games & beer selection. They rotate games regularly to keep it interesting. Owner is super nice and its a unique place worth checking out.

Stopped by with my son for first time and will definitely be back. Great selection of pinball games in amazing condition and good selection of beers, wines and na beverages. Probably matched or won as many games as I paid for so was a great time.

Very cool place. Owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. Lots of fun pinball machines that are clean and play great. Have video games too but haven't played them much. Bar has many choices of beer and non alcoholic drinks. Good vibes.

Great concept and fun place! Fun and nostalgia for the 80's & 90' kids and new and different for the younger crowd. Our teenager wasn't excited about going and playing "Boomer Games" with Mom and Dad but ended up burning through more tokens than us and can't wait to go back! Beer & Wine selection is good but to the owner, as I mentioned....just get a few more drink specials for the drink snobs (like my wife)and you are going to have a line out the door! 5 stars for sure! Check it out!

I can't say enough good things about this place. The owner Kevin is a truly cool dude. This place is mostly pinball but has other fun old arcade games. The pinball machines are changed out regularly for service and selection. Great beer selection. All around cool place to spend a couple hours or 4 like me.

Love Player 1! Kev and the family are great, and always good for a friendly chat. Great selection of beer. Pinball machines are top notch. The league nights are a ton of fun, everyone is friendly and willing to give some tips and tricks to the different machines. It's awesome to having something fun to do in Surprise.

Closed and no sign about change in hours or anything? bummer

Awesome Pinball machines that work. Can tell they are well taken care of. Staff really makes people feel like their family. Couple classic arcades and some newer ones. Also serves a good selection of brews.

We had a lot of fun playing pinball machines and this place has a LOT of them! Great family or date outing.

Very cool spot. The bar has a decent beer selection and the atmosphere is awesome. Pinball was $1 per game which seems a little high but it's worth it to get out and have some fun. I would recommend stopping by and supporting these guys.

Love the pinball setup. One of the most innovative pinball arcades I have been to. I was disappointed that this establishment advertised that they are a full bar when they only serve beer and wine. Additionally, I had the worst beer I have ever had at this establishment and wasn't able to trade it out for something better. Overall, the bar experience left a (literal) bad taste in my mouth.

Great local place for playing pinball and classic arcade games. Had good beer on tap.

This place is amazing! The staff are really chill and responsive. It's also a pinball-centeric arcade, which is even better. They have live game streams for almost all of the pinball games so you can watch your friends play without having to crowd around the machines. Overall, I will be coming here every time I come to visit.

Dude who runs it is really cool... Very welcoming to my kids. I was shocked at how nice the machines are and equally shocked he was willing to share them with kids. My kids are Uber respectful tho and treat everything with care. I'd be so scared as the owner to let other kids in yikes. One spilled drink or a tantrum and one of your absolutely beautiful machines could be ruined. Would be tragic! Thank you for the nostalgia trip with my kids I hope everyone can keep their kids respectful so this gem isn't rui

My son and I decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon for some old school arcade game fun at P1. It's so great to finally have something like this here in Surprise. The staff was super friendly, the place is extremely clean, and we played for a while for only a few bucks. The bar looks like they have a good sized menu as well. The only downside I'd say is the place is a bit small. When they get a good sized crowd, I can se it getting cramped. Overall, I love that we finally got a fun arcade bar in S

Pinball? Arcades? Drinks? They have them! ALL that's missing is YOU! All the cool games you played as a kid, plus some you may have missed! Friendly staff, great prices, fun atmosphere! Get down there today! IFPAA pinball tournament every Monday! **Update 1/23/23** This place STILL ROCKS! You won't find an arcade with a better atmosphere or better working games! Great job Player 1!

The day has finally come! We have been waiting for the doors to open since day one when we happen to walk by and saw the construction going on! Nothing like walking in and feeling /knowing that this will know be the family's new hangout spot! Lots of different selections for drinks, you can bring your own food and just hang out and play the games at your leisure. The staff is amazing! Can't wait to come back on Sat!

Love this place great vibes and best drinks

Super fun! Plenty of pinball machines and stand up games. No hard liquor but they have beers in bottles and on tap and some ciders too. You need to make sure to check out the art work on the walls and the bathrooms.

The staff are amazing and I love the machines. Love the beer and drink selections. The atmosphere is awesome and such a gem out in Surprise.

Absolutely thrilled to have a "barcade" not just in the West Valley, but so close to home. Staff is friendly, games are fun, and beer selection is decent. I hope as they get into their groove they get a few more craft offerings, but right now they have a solid foundation and I'm sure will stock based on demand. Want a fun place to chill with friends and enjoy a pint? This is the place and you get to support a local business during the COVID mess. It's a win-win.

A little small. Great games for the size. Pinball machines were $1 per play, seems a little high. All the arcade games were $.25 which was great. Staff was helpful and polite. No food onsite but you can bring outside food in. Great taco place next door.

Pinball. Brings me joy. No idea about food

I will start off by saying it is great to finally have a video game bar in the west valley. There were only a couple reasons I was unable to give a five star review. Most of the games did not have the token cost listed and ranged from one to four tokens. The only other issue I had was when trying to close out my bar tab my credit card was given to someone else. On a good note we will definitely be back and there are some great games and a huge selection of drinks.

Owner was very nice . Hooked me up with some free tokens. While I waiting for my Beer.. young lady behind bar was very nice. I'm not a big pinball fan . Can't wait till they gets Street fighter and TMNT Capcom vs marvel..A little small but hope they do great and expand to a bigger place ..

Love love love this place. Beer on tap and bonding time with the kid.

90% is just pinball. The one night we went there was a tournament going on so we were only allowed to play on about 8 machines, 4 of which were just turned off. Definitely don't recommend.

Such a great place. We've been there several times now and have the best times. Great beer selection and their pinball machines are the best!

Not what I was hoping for compared to other barcades. Very limited selection of games, primarily pinball. Poorly maintained games. Many do not function and several have broken parts. Machines still require tokens.

Everyone is friendly, games are fun and worth the tokens. There are many different beers, seltzers, and wine to choose from if you are looking for something different. They have cleaning stations by every game/machine. Masks required. Hand sanitizer stands. 100% safe! Good 80s / early 90s vibes! Highly recommended!

Always a great time when we are there. Great idea for a date night. Fun and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Fine print on their website reveals all their alcohol is wine based and that's apparently all they carry. So if you're allergic you're screwed Apparently because wine is fermented and not distilled this let's them not have a proper liquor license

I love the vibe in here. True video game connoisseurs will enjoy the selection. Friendly staff and I love the owners. They have a huge selection of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.

My wife and I like to go when we can on the weekends. Good drinks, good pinball (and some older arcade games), and friendly staff. If you like pinball and are in the west valley check them out!

The owners are great hosts for pinball tournaments. They run a great arcade and bar and they also give back to the community!

This is a very fun place to play some pinball. Owner is very friendly and nice. I love coming here with my wife. I am going to try and at least come in once a week to relax and play some games. I highly recommend to anyone looking to play some pinball and have some fun

You really have to go to this place if you want some good old fun and a few beers to go with it! Wish it were bigger and there was more so they could have their tourneys and others can still play while they are doing so. But it is certainly fun and good times!!!

Friendly owner/operator, after visiting for the first time this week I will definitely return. Very nice selection of pinball games and retro arcade games. Cool local business which deserves the community's support!

Awesome little retro pinball arcade (plus some video games) with a pretty great selection of craft beers you don't find many places.

Nothing negative at all! It's clean, has cool art and EXCELLENT pin ball machines. The flippers are super agile and perfectly placed so you don't drain the ball so easily. Oh yeah.... THERE'S A BAR INSIDE!!!!!

Really cool place and great concept! Fun pinball machines and old school games! Great beer and drinks too. Fun for the whole family.

Love this place! Awesome bar with pinball machines and video games. Family friendly. This is our neighborhood bar and our go to place for date night! Love the owners and staff!

My husband and I love visiting Player 1 Arcade! We always have a great time playing games and chatting with the staff. Everyone that works there is super friendly and always have great suggestions on their assortment of drinks.

Cool new place in surprise! Old skool arcade with beer taps! Lots of games to play and lots of pinball too!! Friendly staff to boot! Giving five stars even though they don't have two of my favorite games, tempest and Mickey Thompson?s off-road racing. But! They have super astroids and Mortal Kombat! I'd also like to see defender and missile command but who knows? Maybe they'll get them?? I'll be back!

Phenomenal! Super fun vibe, great staff, top notch games, & an excellent beer selection! Something for everyone. A definite ?must? on your next day off.

Our bartender Yessenia was so cool! I had a really good time here!

This is my wife and I's go to place in Surprise to have a few drinks and play some classic arcade games. We get some food nextdoor at tacos calafia and then come here for a few drinks and a good time. Lots of fun and the owner is very friendly and welcoming to all!

Great selection of pinball tables. Super fun tournaments with prizes! I drive almost an hour away just to play in the tournaments.

Amazing old school gam selection, a whole wall of pinball machines, positive vibes, good staff, great patrons. This place couldn't get any better. I have found my new favorite place. Say hi if you see me screaming in excitement at pac man. Lol

Anytime my ADHD needs a run a good game of gauntlet is there for me

Surprise really needed something like this! This place is so cute! The drink prices are extremely reasonable and the bartenders are great! Definitely will be coming back

First time at Player 1 arcade and loved it! The games are fun, clean attractive atmosphere and good drinks. Will definitely come out to play again.

Very chill but fun vibe

Great service awesome games, good selection of beer!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
