Went for the drive-in movie. Not our first trip, but it was our daughter's first. She loved her first drive-in experience. Inside is the snack bar, bowling, Lazer tag, arcade games, and even bumper cars. It's worth the trip.

This bowling alley was absolutely incredible. The lanes were amazing. The people were amazing. The food and drink was very, very, very delicious. I bowled my best game ever. Such a great bowling alley that i would visit all the time.

Great prices, lots of fun for all ages. They have lots of games and activities, like laser tag and bumper cars. Some of the games wouldn't work on one of our visits, haven't had issues since then. The staff are very nice. The food from concessions taste good and come out hot, a little wait sometimes when its busy but not too bad. Bowling is fun too, leagues come here to play. Love coming here with the family.

This is a fun place to take your kids on a rainy day instead of the beach. Our kids enjoyed laser tag, bumper cars and the arcade. We're looking forward to stopping again and trying out the bowling. The arcade is kind of pricey per game and play time seems short per card swipe.

The bowling was great the arcade not so much. There is lots of games but most are broke or cost way to much to play the pool was okay not great not bad but if you have money to spend the arcade can be fun. The bowling was the best if your looking for a place to bowl that's the place to go

I don't know if it was an off night or something but geesh. Tried to bowl but it was league night so that's on me. They leave like 4 lanes open for us regular folks with kids that just wanna bowl for fun and not be so serious about balls. Played the arcade for a bit which is pricey AF. $40 doesn't get you far in that arcade... Maybe 20 minutes of playing games then your SOL. Here's the kicker, went to eat at Star Grill and it's a seat yourself place so we sat down. I had to personally walk up to a server so

I had a great date night! Our server was excellent and stayed on top of things. Karaoke was fun!

We had a fun time. The bowling, bumper cars and laser tag were a blast! Some of the arcade games were expensive, but that seems to be typical in most places. We would definitely return as our boys had a lot of fun!

Bowling was great, the games are INSANELY too much money... you better be ready to spend 50-100 bucks to spend more then 10 minutes playing games.. 10 dollars gets you 40 credits.. per game is 6 credits... thats 6 games and some of them are 12 credits.. like I have been places that are roughly 50 cents a game or 1$ a game.. just wild stuff.. we will return but ONLY to bowl.

Worst experience ever second time going there and the bald headed short manager wanted to cause an issue for supposedly ?sagging? my husband had on black jeans with swim trunks and you couldn't even see the swim trunks? the worst part he had just helped my husband but waited till he walked away to come over with the special police on duty like there was going to be an issue. Needless to say I will never spend a dime there again.

Sunday night and looking for a restaurant that was open in Shallotte was very difficult. Came into this restaurant and seated ourselves. We were surprised by the large selection of menu items and the reasonableness of the prices. Thankfully there was one waitress on duty for the entire restaurant area who was also bringing orders to the bowling alley! There was also a kitchen crew who got the orders out quickly. Don't know what this restaurant would have done of the one waitress wasn't on shift! Gav

Took the kids to the arcade. Several games that the kids wanted to play did not work. The staff was kind and refunded credit when a game didn't work. Still had fun.

I was very hesitant to go after looking at the reviews on Google. I am glad we ignored them , decided to go anyway and experience Planet fun for ourselves. When we first got there we decided to eat first at the Starz Grille . We had to wait a min for a server but that wasn't a problem . The server we had met our expectations. I think his name was Scotty ? He was great and never let our glass run low . The food was fantastic ?? . After we ate we played games in the arcade . We didn't have any issues with

The waitress was incredible!! She was on point with our food and drinks. She was very understanding about our toddler being a little extra messy.

The best place to eat stake If you want something light try the harvest salad El mejor lugar para Come biste (stake)

Awful, I took my mother, wife, and son bowling. I ordered my wife a margarita, the sour mix had gone bad and was beyond drinkable. With only one small sip out of it I returned it for a different drink. I was told "sorry there is a manager here to take it off, or to replace it for the new drink." So I was charged $10. Not the first time i have had a poor experience here.

One star is too much for this place. Tables not cleaned off, 10 mins to get a menu, another 10 mins to order a drink, which never arrived after sitting there for nearly 30 mins. Had to walk out. How they survive is a mystery, except for the captive audience playing games.

The bowling alley is great nice and clean, great atmosphere The restaurant not so good The food is mediocre the beer is flat The service so so those, The waitress and the bartenders they need to fix themselves up a little bit and very sloppy looking and they're not very friendly at all! There are other places that are better to eat, but the bowling's good!

The kids had an amazing time. It was extremely busy, the waitress did her best to attend to us in a timely manner. We are planning to return again soon!!

Great, family fun atmosphere. A ton of different activities and games!

Clean, friendly, affordable ,and plenty of parking. Limited lanes sometimes, I would definitely check for availability in case of league games. Video games, food, and more.

The bartender is the only reason this place is surviving. He had to take our order and help us the entire time because the waitresses were too busy tucking their enormous guts in their britches and digging dirt out from under their fingernails. Then, the lady who brought our pizza to the table, didn't know how to fit the pizza on the table, so she looked at us for help. Ma?am, I'm not going to do your job for you. Grow up and earn your pay by assisting customers in the place of work you are used to. Serious

Restaurant we visit often , we understand being short staff but not being able to even order drinks and over 50% of tables dirty went back just for popcorn today and the man doing register on bowling side couldn't be bothered to even making more it takes 10 minutes

We love to come here for the arcade and bowling. The last time we were there, they had added bumper cars. We walked past a lot of unplugged machines to get to bumper cars, so we were hoping they were switching out a lot of the machines on the floor that were broken! The prize counter staff are always so patient with the kiddos! There always seems to be a birthday party going on here, too! Great atmosphere!

Since Kevin has taken over as manager this establishment has improved greatly. The bowling experience is wonderful, great food at Starzs Grill, and fun arcade. They also now show movies in a drive in style. Fun for the whole family!!!

We had a wonderful experience this evening. Amanda was our server, and she has the patience of a saint. We had an 80, and a 90 year old in our party, and they were challenging to say the least. We had delicious flatbread, the veggie and the spinach and feta were cooked perfectly and tasty. The BLT, Shrimp wrap and Caesar salad were fantastic as well. I must say, the service, attentiveness and pure kindness of Amanda made our evening. My soda was getting low. Before my Dad could get her attention, she was al

What an awesome place to have fun. The laser tag was great and has 2 levels. We even won an occlus quest 2 vr headset in the cut the string game. What what

Ashlynne was the sweetest bartender. She was honest and transparent and kind. Loved it!

Very enjoyable experience. The credits and cost per game can be confusing but the kids enjoyed playing games and wining prices. We didn't bowl because it was very crowded.

Family friendly place! The staff were really nice and helpful! Our family had a great time at the laser tag, we wish we could get more time. We wanted to do the bumper cars but it was closed the day we went! We stayed in oak island, it was like a 25 minute drive to this place, not bad at all!

A great variety of games and large bowling ally. Very clean and spacious with reasonable game prices.

It all started because my friend never got her wings. Complained to the waitress, she would not refund this "sweet" tea. Came in next time, the owner charged out and called me a liar until I showed him pictures. Then, his response was, "if you don't like it, don't come back". May not. there's a lot more to the story but there's only a certain amount I can post here. By the way your beer pitcher being cracked is against the health department.

We took about 28 kids for bowling and laser tag! They had a great time!!

My husband and I wanted a date night, and we chose to do a drive-in movie! So much fun ? if you needed snacks, you can go inside and purchase them. You can sit in your car or on the grass outside. They turned off the extra lights in the parking lot for the movie as well. Fun time, can't wait to go again!

Showed up with low expectations for a run down bowling alley with crappy arcades. My friends and I were extremely surprised. We spent a rainy day here bowling and playing some great arcades! Definitely a fun rainy day spot near holden or myrtle. Pizza was decent as well. We played about $50 for 3 rounds of bowling for the 4 of us.

We absolutely love going to Planet Fun. It's a great Family night option. The Starz Grille has amazing food. Their flatbreads are wonderful! Check them out!

Flatbread at Starz Grill was fantastic. Fun atmosphere and great time bowling.

It's a fun place to visit and bowl, but you can definitely see the age of this place. The kid's bowling area is so worn out to the point of almost looking scummy. I understand that there is normal wear and tear on things, but you can definitely tell that some parts are neglected by the owner, manager, and workers. I wouldn't eat there, if the front looks this bad, I can't imagine what their kitchen must look like!!!

The drive in movie was a hit! My daughter put a blanket out on the grass near the car and her and my grands sat/lay and watched the movie. It was so nice and the kids had freedom to move around without worry of bothering others. Was a bit nostalgic actually!

Had a great time. Excellent experience wonderful staff.

Games didn't work, no bumper cars (even after we paid for it), ask what to do and they said "just play games." The games that did work WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND ARE WAY OVER PRICES. $1 for basketball? $1.50 for skeeball? $5 for a video with moving chairs??? The place was very dirty and the staff was maybe the worst part. Not helpful, rude and would not help. This is the worst "fun" place I've ever been too. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS TOURIST TRAP!!! Also, notice that the company is responding t

The kids love all the updates and new ways to have fun ! Mom approved !

Dont waste your money here, you might as well drive a bit further and go to dave & busters. My family and I love arcades, but this is by far the worst one we have been to. Food was not so good and customer service was terrible. Some of the games weren't working, and they are expensive. Claw machines suck and scam you. When we went to the ticket/prize counter the employee with very long hair walked away and completely ignored us, went into the laser tag room and left us standing there for 15 minutes. We had

I visit very frequently when I can due to it always being bowling leagues it leaves no space for the ?regular? people.

Well believe it or not the food here was decent. We had a group so they tried a little bit of everything from the menu. Chicken fingers, wings, flatbread and fried shrimp and they all loved it. The lanes were all clean. The only thing I wish they had were clean shoe laces! The ladies shoe laces were kind of gross. But other then that everything seemed ok.

I should have won in a tournament hosted by planet fun. I won the high game, on the second game, of the tournament. Keith, the gentleman who runs the tournament had one of two issues: 1. Hes not capable of doing his job. 2. He doesn't like me, specifically. He decided to rerate my handicap in the middle of a tournament because I had the best 2 games of my bowling career. Because of this move, which is unheard of in bowling, I lost my game that I rightfully won. I will not be back and if I find the move was

The laser tag is actually quite fun. Plenty of bowling alleys, and arcade games

My family and I popped up at this place to go bowling and get a break from the heat. It's very nice, clean and has so many options. The prices were very reasonable and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Holden.

Fun night with family. Large party of 10+ Good food and drinks. The sweet tea is SWEET. Bar is fast service and full shots. You definitely get your money's worth! Friendly staff. Place was clean. The AC works great.

Trash. Poor food, poor service, and bottom tier management. Arcade machines broken. Won't ever go back, and will actively deter people from going.

The Starz Grille Restaurant had amazing food. It is worth coming just for the food. Our family tasted each other's entree's and they were all surprisingly delicious, with large portions, and a great price. My kids also loved playing games. The restaurant was quiet for adult conversation while the kids could enjoy the arcade and Lazer tag. The games were also very reasonably priced too. It was a great night for everyone!

We had my sons birthday party here last Saturday and I can't even begin to explain how accommodating they were to our needs. We had a personal party planner who stayed with us and helped us with everything we had planned for the party. We were able to bowl, play lazer tag, bumper cars and have access to the arcade. A room decorated just for us. The food is amazing. Highly recommend having a birthday party here for your anyone in your family.

Great place to bowl and play games or shoot pool and Great place to take the kids to burn off that extra energy

Very nice place. We've been disappointed in the past by other arcades but this one is really nice! Big area, and all but 1 game was working. The restaurant area was nice and food was delicious! We didn't get to bowl because a slew of golfers came in and took up all the lanes, but that's ok - we still had a great time and would definitely go back!

I went there because of my son. My wife and I were surprised at the amount of things they have. Indoor bumper boats, laser tag, pool tables, a decent arcade.. The restaurant is alright. What do you expect? When you're using hot dog chili on everything that requires chili, not original just trying to keep cost down. Quesadillas, really need to be chicken and steak also.. those are the staples. Offer those besides your ?special? house only. The people are somewhat friendly.. definitely go again. Problem is..

Everytime my company schedules ahead of time to come here we get told we didn't schedule it. Which we show the confirmation through email. We are still argued down and told we need to be out of here at a certain time. The man at the front desk is very rude and argumentative when showed the proof emails he still refuses to let us bowl. Idk if they are trying to just pocket the money or what. But it's never been a time we have had the pleasure of just showing up as scheduled and bowling. I'm really hoping it?

This is a great indoor fun place for families. It has very current technology in the bowling alleys and great arcade games including bumper cars. Haven't tried the adjacent restaurant yet but the pictures on the ads look tasty.

This is one of the greatest places to go for food and fun for all ages big or small. Also they have drive in movie theater.

Great place for kids and family! We played some bowline, laser tag, and arcade games. I broke the basketball game high score and the staff went crazy! Bowling shoes are CLEAN, place is super clean, and the staff are nice!

ATTENTION-ATTENTION-ATTENTION!!!MANAGER OF THIS RESTAURANT NEEDS TO SEE THIS REVIEW ASAP!!! If I could rate less than one star I would!!! My family and I arrived here right around 5 in the afternoon. The place was empty other than the kitchen staff along with one waitress and three other folks at tables. I should have known better than to try and stay and eat after seeing that. The waitress told us to sit wherever we liked. After sitting down and waiting close to 10 minutes for her to take our order she fin

Fun place to take the family! Already planning next trip!

We came here for my 6yo son?s bday. Bowling was fine, but everything else was awful. They shut down bumper cars over an hour early. Laser tag was awful. They gave us and our young kids no instructions or help, our son went through two vests and neither worked correctly, it was very hot in there, no refund was issued, and the worst part was the staff was very rude. Some of the arcade games didn't work. Fifteen minutes prior to closing, the staff clocked out and wouldn't let us cash in our tickets for prizes.

My husband and I recently threw a birthday party for our son their and the party planner/manager Corrine was extremely helpful answering all our questions and making sure everything was perfect for that day. Kara our party server who was also serving another party as well was very attentive and made sure to get everything we needed and provided kind service with such a large party. Thank you planet fun definitely will be a reoccurring party spot for us!

Bowling- fun, great price Food- decent, reasonably priced but $8 for a small, stale popcorn sheesh Arcade- way overpriced and half the machines don't work Moonlight drive in- could use some improvement. Not the best quality or biggest screen, you can't rely on the sound system they supply, it's just not loud enough. No one around to enforce people being quiet or turning of their headlights. And if you have to use the bathroom after the inside closes you're SOL. Really should provide bathrooms. And here's an

Food is Great. Unfortunately, I got the fish, grilled the way I asked for it. But note, size / portion varied. Example: go in on a Monday it's (the fish) is small, go back a few days later or a week later, the same order is twice the size - no consistent -- always different. The staff very friendly, but seems like they really don't know how to work the table

When we got there, we were told there was a wait to bowl. They had about 40-50 lanes and only 10 were in use. We were told there were two parties in front of us, so we assumed it would be about half an hour. We gave the very rude customer service lady our name. She said "I can't even give you a time". We went to play arcade games. Not a single game worked. Either they were broken down, didn't take the card, or the functioning was wrong. We spent 16 credits to play connect four, didn't work at all. I went an

Great place to take kids. We all had a blast!!!

Always have a good time however the video games have increased in price so much lately that i told my son were not going here to play video games anymore. We used to be able to spend an hour on $20 but now it costs $50 to play the same amount of games. The number if tickets you win or can win, is much much less then its ever been. My son used to win between 700 - 1200 tickets off $20 in credits. The cost of candy/prizes at the counter of course have gone up a lot. I get that inflation has caused prices to r

The owner is very personable and a fun guy the place has good food and comaradery

Today the visit seemed chaotic? first group to enter the dining room and order. Wonderful lady quick to take our order? seemed overwhelmed afterwards. Disagreement with the cook over making two chicken quesadillas? which continually came out and never had the order correct? each time we were served a different quesadilla ? my hats off to the lady who tried her best to hustle and expedite the orders? gaming area was less chaotic but started to ramp up not long after. Overall not good ? seemed unstaffed from

Came to planet fun to celebrate my son?s birthday but it was quickly ruined when I came to Star grille to order our pizza. 1st red flags waitress said we had to wait to place our order because they only had two people in the kitchen. I understand everyone is short staffed right now, that's why I didn't mind waiting. So about 1-2 hours we still hadn't gotten our order. My sister asked the waitress what was going because we literally were watching people that came in after us get their food. Apparently she ju

This place has gone downhill since the previous time I've been here. Prior to this experience, I went out with two friends to Starz Grille and had nothing but wonderful things to say. This time, however, will keep me from visiting again anytime soon. The service was alright, the first lady seemed nice enough and our server throughout the meal was excellent overall. I ordered a sweet tea, my nephew a pink lemonade. Both came to the table quickly. Pink lemonade was watered down to the point it was water with

The food is good, but inconsistent. Sometimes, you get two large pieces of fish, other times you get two very small pieces of fish that, together, are not as much as one of the large pieces. They can't seem to keep wait staff - we eat there once & twice a week for a while now - never see the same staff. That said, maybe they should train them a little? Like, when you bring the meal, you should also provide silverware and napkins at the same time. When the customer asks for lemon for their tea or the fi

Sorry to say that when power went out noone even came to check to see if everyone was OK or needed anything. They simply put a flashlight on the counter.

I HAD FUN WILL GO THERE AGAIN LOVE PLANET FUN.

My 13 yo deemed this restaurant the suckiest place on Earth. We went in for a family outing. Our two teen girls and I ordered appetizers and my husband ordered a burger. Am hour later one of the girls and I had received our food, the other two haven't... The waitress brings the check and asked if we wanted to go boxes. Once we explained we were still waiting for half our order, it became clear they had lost the order and had no idea. A very nice waitress who was not the manager comped the lost food and expl

This is a wonderful place to bring the family!! We love it. It has large arcade area with tons of games, which my kids loved. It has a good-sized laser tag arena, which the whole family loved. It also has bowling, but we did not partake in that. We ate lunch there, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend their pizza and fries!!

Great location and great food. The fries remind me of checkers and the burgers and entrees are delicious. Friendly service and the wait is not long either. Decent prices too. Highly recommend as it is connect to planet fun. So the adults can have drinks and food while the kids play.

Birthday party for grandson. Plenty of pizza and beverage. Fun and food. Attentive staff.

First time there and I really enjoyed it! Will definitely go back

I went to Starz Grill only. Its somewhat hard to rate because it looked like i was the only one there. But I was greeted upon entering, the staff was nice and helpful. I ordered their BLT and it was one of the best I've ever had. I feel its underated. Try it!

Our whole family ate there last night and the food was excellent. It was a little understaffed but who isn't now the wait was well worth and the wait staff was amazing really good natured with a good sense of humor even when stressed. I will definitely be going back and also recommend them! 08/21/2022 at about 5:45

Planet Fun and Starz Grille is a great place for cheap entertainment and good food. Staff has always been awesome. We like the cosmic bowling on Saturday nights. At 10 pm it starts and you can bowl for the rest of the night for one price, $13 a person I think. Order some food and drinks and eat right at your lane. They have a full bar and lots of beer options. And if you don't what to hear the noise of bowling, the restaurant side is roomy and nice. We order food there often for take-out and have nothing ba

The arcade and bowling are fine, but restaurant us HORRIBLE. It took us 2 hours to get a quesadilla some wine and a burger. The staff at the restaurant was extremely rude too ?? I asked the waitress if I could get another thing of ranch and she told me "ask the kitchen hun I'm swamped here" and there were only 3 other tables being used in the restaurant. If you avoid the restaurant and just eat somewhere else before you go the place is pretty fun. Had a wide range of arcade games and the bowling was more en

Fun for the whole family. Great bowling lanes. Didn't try the Lazer tag but it looked like it would be fun. The arcade was in good working order with a few exceptions.

The waiter was good but the kitchen staff that's another story. They were not busy it was a total of about 10 people in the restaurant and that includes my party of 3. It took them about 20 minutes to bring our hamburgers. When we got the food it was cold. The sweet tea was horrible... It will be a long time before I will ever go back...

Great place very friendly and the kids loved it

Ask for a side salad with your food. It doesn't disappoint. Used to come here pre-pandemic for the salad bar. Wish they'd bring it back. The rest of the food is okay. There are better options. But if you want a good salad this is the place. Edit: added another star because the salads are so good.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
