The place was old, dirty and smelled disgusting. My mom and I decided to go to this bowling alley as part of our girl's day. I had once tried to come here with my uncle and cousin but they were busy, sk I was excited to try it out. The lady side-eyed my mom. Mom came up to her and said it was our first time and asked where to pay. The lady said, "over here" with an attitude. The lady asked for our size and my mom asked if we had to pay extra for shoes which she said yes. We gave her our sizes and she THREW

This place sucks. That said, I've never actually been able to bowl here because we've always been turned away for some random reason every time we've come in. This last visit will surely be the last.. google said they close at 10pm. Ok cool, enough for us to bowl a quick game or two as we went in at just before 9. Nobody at the counter and instead a voice from the couch behind ?Can I help you?? Yes we would like to roll a game. ?Nope, not until tomorrow at 11am?. This was the extent of the exchange until

Place is old, stinks and the employees add to that! I was eye rolled the moment my daughter and I walked in...asked a couple of simple questions and not only did I get tude, I got the bowling shoes tossed to us with more Tude for zero reason! My daughter and I tossed them back on the counter and left....disgusting! .

Enjoyable time. Something to do after dinner. Not the greatest bowling floor or balls. Place could use a major update. The folks working there were nice. Arcade was limited.

Had a great experience with this homey vintage alley. We are able to feel the history. Was able to take a piece of history with me walking through here. Will definitely come back on a league night

Pismo Bowl is awesome! We've had our kids? birthday parties here and they had a great time. The staff are so kind, friendly, and it always feels like we're truly welcome. The vibe is retro with the red leather booths and decorative nods to various eras of bowling teams. You gotta go!

A Great experience with the kids. Worth the stop each year. Nostalgic bowling alley. Great family fun center. We hang around for a couple if hours and played a few games. Friendly staff. Clean restroom.

Pismo Bowl is on the main drag in Pismo Beach with a throwback bowling alley feel featuring 8 lanes, arcade games, pizza, beer, and dining counter. Cool vintage signs and memorabilia. A little rundown and staff was just ok. Single game is $5.50.

Good Pizza. Great crust. Crispy pepperoni. quite impressive actually.

Super cute, retro bowling alley. The pepperoni pizza SLAPS. Highly recommend if you have kids to entertain or a tummy rumbling for yummy food.

Super fun place to bring your kiddos!!!!! Bowling and arcade games with a air hockey table for kids, how can you go wrong? Serve beer on Tap and good like pretzel bites, pizza, wings and ice cream. Really good food in my opinion!

Went on a Saturday morning with my granddaughter. We had a great time. Place was clean and every staff person was very helpful and nice. Manager was super friendly and helpful. Initially not very crowded but got busier as morning progressed. We would recommend this place for a fun time. Food looked and smelled good but we didn't try it due to having a large breakfast. Take the kids, it's a lot of fun. Arcade was not yet open due to covid. (But plenty of games to choose from).

Really bad place the attitude of the guy here is really horrible bad attitude. I never come back here is a horrible place

Grumpy old man racially profiled me and friends. When I asked him to turn on the bumpers, he told me not to make the ball zig zag as to not break their bumpers, I took it as nothing. Then, when he turned it on (before we even started playing with numbers) he came to us and with an annoyed and grumpy tone and told us we supposedly looked like the type of people that would try to make the ball bounce around the bumpers a bunch. He also Recorded us a bunch and kept watching us as if he was just anxious waiting

Just went in there and my daughter, her boyfriend, her dad and I asked for a lane to bowl. I noticed there were 4 lanes open and he rudely and immediately said that there are no lanes available and that there will be none the rest of the night. I felt discriminated. We went as a family and it was only around 7:00pm. I will never go back and I will let all my friends and family know about our experience. I would understand it if he was nice about it but he wasn't.

Great, clean, had bumpers for us to use and a dragon thing for little kids to roll the ball down. We had a great time. Arcade games were all turned off due to pandemic but they were not requiring masks while you were at your lane.

Okay, it has taken me *way* too long to write this review. Visited Pismo about a month ago with the kids, met up with grandparents who drove up while we drove down to Pismo. Pismo Bowl is the only place we visited every. single. day. of our stay. I know we were close to the beach but, we're all Californians (never too far from the beach anyway) and, this place had something for everyone, and a super friendly, warm and inviting atmosphere. It's like the Cheers of bowling alleys :) Burgers for all, beers an

Nice atmosphere, younger gal behind the counter with curly hair need to work on her customer service; would have got more than drinks had she not been rude. Everyone else was lovely and helpful.

Typical small dead bowling alley that you wonder how they can stay open. 2 staff members on their phones. The lanes would break down and you couldn't reset the pin setter from the control. Good enough to come practice while on vacation.

My family had a lot of fun there, it's a little pricey but it's worth it. Good food, good beer.

Small Town ally feel. Built in the 1930s. Some history here. Quick service and friendly staff.

Get a pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever had

Staff was amazing even though they where under staffed. Very sweet and helpful. Food was good for bowling alley food! 4 stars because lanes are over oiled, balls are decent but hammered and finger widths are huge. Great for a family trip but if you are trying to actually bowl, enjoy fight the left side of the lane. Pins also get stuck but there's a reset at the lane.

Had a good experience! Staff very friendly.

Small and crowded at times. But awesome experience and environment.

had a blast...small hometown feel

This is a small 8 lane bowling alley with video arcade games and bar which sells food. It feels like you at sterling back in time a bit with original old school balls and decor. Reasonably priced date or family day.

Had a blast. Went there with the family after a family birthday dinner. Kids all bowled. It was a great time.. great environment. All of the kids had a blast. Kids range in age from 28 to 4years old. Awesome time with the fam. Great memories! Cherished. Thank you. The staff is always pleasant and helpful.

We had a great time at Pismo Bowl! My son had a few friends to join him for a birthday party, and the ladies that work there were awesome. A quick phone call and we had it all set up. The boys had a lot of fun!

Cool little arcade with bowling lanes. Went for bowling we just couldn't figure out how to put the bumpers on but the kids still had fun I would definitely return. We didn't try the arcade or buy food.

Love this place. We come at least once a month from Santa Maria. A good place to kill an hour or two. They also have small bites and beer! Recently added Kelsey See Canyon ciders as well.

Pismo bowl is always open, it's been here for so long and its so worth it. The staff is always friendly, excellent beer on tap, the prices are very fair here and more. It's something the Pismo always needs is it's bowling alley, it's never disappoints, always a reason to bring friends and family here. Thank you

awesome spot. one of the best places for family fun on the coast

Nice place and flavorful food dishes. Staff was very friendly.

Nice play to bowl and have drinks! Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I had the best hotdog I have ever had. What a wonderful friendly inviting environment.

Called and made a reservation 2 days ahead of time for 5 pm on a Wednesday. Supposedly we are all set and we show up night-of and the guy working is like ?sorry, it's league night? I explain that I made a reservation and he literally says ?Not here you didn't. When did you call? Can you show it to me?? And I pull up my call log on my phone that was made to this place, 2 days before. He says ?well sorry, it's for league members only.? Walked out and will never attempt to come again. Absolutely terrible and i

Called to check that we could come in and bowl at a certain time. We were told yes. When we showed up at that time we were told that it was league time to bowl and that we needed to leave. The staff was rude about it too as if we should know better than to show up during league time when we called to make sure that we could bowl. Not coming back here.

Excellent Family Spot Great Environment Great People and also Great Burger and Beer. I'll be Returning 4 Sho

Hamburgers were horrible and fries too salty! We've been going here for years, and they used to cook your hamburger on a grill after you order it. But now, the hamburger patty is clearly precooked and super thin. You couldn't even taste the meat. And the fries were way too salty. Unfortunately, after coming here for 23 years, we won't be back.

I go here regularly. The food is great, greasy, but that's what you expect. It's good food. The bowling is tons of fun, and the staff really listen and help with whatever you need. Definitely recommend going, and I will continue to go regularly. Update: haven't stopped going yet :)

Great time had by all. Seems like a local place. Everyone in the place was nice. Owner pretty cool dude. We played 2 games and had a couple yummy beers ?? Definitely will go again ????

Great Place! Our family went there for my sister's birthday. They offer food and drinks and the alley is much fun

Me and my friends went in, good time, onion rings were great, pizza is recommended.

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. I grew up going here, now I take my kids. The price is super reasonable, the staff is really friendly, and the atmosphere is really fun.

Whenever I'm in town I ALWAYS have to go to pismo bowl it's as if tradition for my family and I. We love the food! amazing little personalized pizzas for my daughter and big juicy burgers for everyone else. Their customer service is top notch too. Bowling I think isn't open during week days at the moment but is open on weekends and they have the cutest little lanes to check out right down the street from the beach

Great place to bring the entire family. Video games, pool, food, bowling.

This is a nice bowling alley, at a good price. Feels really old fashioned, but that's because I think it is really old. Everything in the lanes is pretty well maintained, though the bowling balls themselves are chipped everywhere but that's fine. I liked this place a lot, would definitely want to come back.

We had a great time! Owner is super friendly. Lanes were good. Prices are even better. Use the house balls or bring an old ball if you're a bowler. Overall great place and will return in future.

We waited 2 hrs to get 2 spots at the bowling alley for my family, but the owner of the bowling alley was being super rude to us and let 4 people take our spots even though we got there before them. Gave us such a bad attitude and we even bought him 6 beers, and beers were hot .

good fries, friendly service. I asked for crispy fries, and he obliged. Fun place to go to watch or play bowling and theres a small arcade for all.

Staff and management super helpful (Informed of price discounts for league vs public) and (needed recommendation on bowling ball fitting tech) professional (they KNOW bowling!) Inexpensive compared to bigger Lanes but not so loud and crazy like they get either Lanes are clean; no issues w mechanical racks; lots of free to use bowling balls to choose from; The menu has a variety of tasty items and cold drinks and beer. An arcade will keep the kids busy at least til they run out of change! Parking is horrible

Had a manager promotion party there. It was awesome. Such a clean facility, all 3 employees (I'm sorry I didn't catch names) were fantastic! I can't wait to go back!

Great place to go vintage bowling. Great staff. Street parking but not a problem.

On mini vacation . My family wanted to go bowling at Pismo Bowl . Boy we had a blast. It is open most days until 10 pm. The cost is $5.00 per game shoes are $2.50 . This little bowling alley has a lot to offer . It has awesome pizza and grilled food soft drinks along with alcoholic beverages are available. There is also a video arcade within this bowling alley . We went on a Wednesday night around 6:30 pm. We had no wait time . How ever it did become busier where people did have to wait to bowl. Prices

This place is really great! If you are looking for a corporate-style bowling experience, this is NOT the place. They have 8 Lanes, so lanes are limited, but the waiting list moves quickly. The staff was extremely helpful and struck a great balance between professional and casual. I saw lockers for rent and an advertisement for a leauge. They have a good selection of arcade games, and the snack bar has a dining area. The food is extremely generous and tasty; you may consider breaking your diet for their burg

This place was so cute. Not very big, which makes it cozy. Everybody was having a good time together even though we were all strangers. The bowling balls look like billiard table balls,.. just super cute.

We love Pismo Bowl!!! Chad and Mel are the BEST staff; they are always smiling, upbeat, quick, and paying attention. The owners are also really friendly, and make an effort to stay in touch with their staff and regulars.

This was a cool way to conclude the first night of my brother's bachelor party. The owner and manager are super friendly! They take pride in this bowling alley. It was a great time!

This place is a staple of Pismo but it's also very overpriced in terms of food, the game, beer, etc. It's fun but super expensive. I lived there all my life and it's a little sad to see it go to just trying to make a ton of money on the out of towners. Wish they had a local discount. The food isn't bad either which is a shame. Wings were good.

I highly recommend this place if you want to have some fun times with your friends. Great atmosphere! I think we will be back again in the near future.

This is a very family friendly bowling alley, it has a good arcade and decent food, it is a little less pro friendly because it has only 8 lanes, and i have noticed some marks on my bowling balls after bowling here, but overall if you wanna have some fun with your friends and you are just looking for some more casual fun this is your place.

Staff were friendly, the balls kept getting stuck in the back alley, the pins often wouldn't be loaded, the lane seemed to lean slightly to the right and had not been oiled recently enough. Guy had to go in the back 5 or more times to reset the pin loader and fix the ball return. Would have given a 4 if not for all the problems.

It's an older, small, somewhat rundown place that needs to get their hard alcohol license because who wants to bowl without catching a nice buzz while doing it. Other than that the prices aren't bad and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Your local bowling place Still the same after all these years Kids enjoy it

Super small, like 8 lanes to bowl. Friendly staff with incredible pizza and garlic fries. Friends got burgers and said how good they were, the presentation of the burgers was good - large pirtions. Small arcade. I'd go back just forf the pizza, even if I wasn't bowling; it was incredible.

Great service, very friendly staff. My husband and I bowled ?? 5 games ,ate chicken wings and drank a few beers. We had a wonderful time?

Went in there late night to get some fried food, because after a certain time that's all they offer, and after spending $50 on 4 baskets have fried food and only getting one refill on my 14 oz soda I was a little perturbed to say the least. The only reason why I left there happy as I hit the jackpot on one of their arcade games. Didn't go there to bowl but it seemed kind of awkwardly placed and kind of crammed. Wait staff wasn't all that happy to be there and they let you know it with more body language tha

My family and I had a blast. The staff were friendly and pretty funny to be honest. The pizza was good and the beer cold. We'll be back!

We had a great time. If wanting to bowl sign your name to the wait list and come back when your ready to bowl i signed my named and came back 5 hours later i only waited 15 minutes compared to having several people in front of me.

Fun Place with Great Customer Service. Only 7 Lane's so that is what makes it great ??????. Pizza is really Good. Best in town.

Pismo bowl is a great place for the family, they have arcade games, bowling lanes , bar for drinks and good food. If your trying to bowl on the weekends go early. Lanes go quick. Location is in a great place for kids to hang out while adults shop.

This place is awesome !!! Lots of fun no matter what !! The manager or owner (not sure exactly who he was) but was so kind to let our service dog in even tho he didn't have his vest on !!!?????????? Excellent service !! Nothing but smiles

We were visiting from New Zealand, saw this and dropped in.. and. It. Was. AWESOME. This was everything I had hoped and imagined bowling would be like. Everyone was there for a good time, knew bowling etiquette, and the lanes worked seamlessly with a very quick ball return. I wish the lanes in our local country were like this. Beers between $4-7, shoe hire $3.50 and bowling $4.50 a game

Awesome bowling alley hidden in downtown. Great place for family and friends. Food is what lacks here and a little understaffed. Great selection of beer and you pay per game played - affordable fun for the whole family!

Love being there every week with my friends and the wonderful staff!??

This place is a small bowling alley, but really fun. Even during covid, really nice service, laid back. Arcade is closed bc of covid, but lanes were open. Fun throw-back decor. Lane 4 was having a ton of issues (not setting 10 pins, bnb ot clearing them all, etc), but we moved lanes by the 2nd service request and had no more issues.

Yes it's a bit run down, but the staff is super nice. The food is surprisingly good too. Try the pizza.

Small place, great for families. Lots of food choices, beer and other drinks. Lots of parking around the block, some pay lots.

This place is fun. Feels like a blast from the past. But with the fully automated score keeping. Bar is open for food and drink. Bumper bowling for kids. Can't get enough

Good food, great bowling, fun times. These are all things that can describe the Pismo Bowl. It isn't too flashy but still has a unique charm and lovable family aspect. Five stars to this place any day.

This is a great place for visiting relatives & their kids. There are games, junk food, and best of all a clean modern bowling alley. For some reason, the lanes are not too crowded & you can usually snag one. The balls are just OK, but the shoes are too slippery IMHO. The scoring is computerized, so you do not have to mess with the old pens/ paper system. I also like their air hockey game. As far as I know, this is the only bowling alley within dozens, if not hundreds of miles...so this is it. For tho

We are big fans of Pismo Bowl. Small town feel with clean lanes and completely reasonable prices! A family of 5 can bowl for an hour and rent shoes for under $50! That's a deal!

Mike is the man and always will be.. love this place.. fun at every turn, food is awesome.. staff is cool as hell..

I love Pismo Bowl! It feels like a classic, vintage, bowling alley. I always go on Monday nights for "pizza bowl," which offers all you can bowl & all you can eat pizza! It's a great spot for families or groups of friends.

Awesome old school bowling alley. People working here are very attentive, helpful and friendly. Food is reasonably priced and really good. We'll for sure be back.

Machines are old. Alleys barely work. Balls are sticky. And I wouldn't have it any other way!!! Some things never change. Much love to Pismo Bowl!!!

Great place. Lots of fun.. very well kept n clean. Staff were very polite and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
