Had a great time grabbing a drink there. First time and will come back. Old school arcade games, duck pin bowling and larger than life beer pong games. The drinks were amazing! Loved the Atomic Blonde and even had a jelly shot.

If you're looking for a fun date night spot in Charlotte, Pins Mechanical is a must! Just a heads up ? they do check IDs after 8 PM, so don't forget yours. The vibe is awesome with duckpin bowling, arcade games, giant Jenga, and more. The rooftop is the real star though ? cozy swings, colorful lights, and the epic slide that shoots you downstairs. We went down it more times than we'll admit and laughed the whole way. Drinks are great too ? lots of craft beers, cocktails, and even spiked slushies. It's the

Good place to hang out with friends and family for some drinks and games. Many arcade games, pin bowling, foosball, jenga, and many more. Some of them are paid. Plenty of options to drink from cocktails to beer. The only drawback is the lack of bar food to go along with the drinks. After 9PM, this becomes a 21+ club and gets crowded.

I didn't buy anything at this place and I didn't stay long but I did enjoy the wings. I went on a Saturday night. It was free to get in. Have ID in hand. They have lots of fun games

It was super busy on a Saturday evening. There are lots of arcade games, the bar had good seasonal drinks and overall was a good experience. However It was surprising to see a lot of kids. I tried the indoor slide and it was fun!! There's limited parking so you can walk a couple blocks from the light rail station.

This is really cool spot in Southend . All games are free and you just buy your drinks. Love it. I think the bowling is $25 though.

This is such a great place for adults and children. Lots of activities and fun things to do. Duckpin bowling was awesome and a great selection of drinks from the bar!

Pins Mechanical Co is a really fun spot with a great atmosphere ? perfect for groups or a casual night out. The service was solid, and the vibe was energetic and welcoming. My only wish is that they offered more non-alcoholic drink options. It would be great to see more choices for people who don't drink but still want something fun and refreshing. Overall, a great place to hang out!

Crystal and Chrissy and Gouda?s food truck were all amazing. The service from Crystal and Chrissy was extremely friendly, fast, and attentive. Gouda?s food truck was DELICIOUS and the food came out quickly. Definitely recommend this place I came for my 21st birthday and they made the day lovely

Fun place to enjoy an afternoon drink. Lots of outdoor space and a huge indoor area full of games. Cocktails were dynamite! Some families with kids on a weekend afternoon but mostly 20-somethings outside of that. There were a couple of food trucks in the parking lot. It was a fun vibe but I'm not into bar games so I probably won't return. Cocktails, service, and outdoor space were high points.

Great place to bring your kids and be a big kid yourself. You can outside food and they also have food trucks outside. Great for birthday gatherings. The drinks at the bar were good.

Wow, what a great place place for a grown-up to become a kid again with a beer in hand! If you are looking for a place to hang out, have some fun, and choose from a large selection of beers, this is the place. Staff was amazing and friendly. Large selection of old-school video games and pinball machines. Food trucks are where we got our food. I will be back again!

A great experience of various games. Very creative and so many games to spend quality evening time with friends and family. Loved the energy around the place. Bar, food, music and games - what else do you possibly need on a weekend or a holiday or a birthday! Definitely a must go for the choices they have!

Stopped here while visiting a few places to get a taste of South end. It's a fun atmosphere. It's adult, family and kid friendly. I took a tour of the place and it's very nice. Bar and Arcade style downstairs and chill rooftop vibes upstairs. They only serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. There was a food truck outside called Taste of New Your and the quesadillas were the best I've ever had! South End is a world of its own and Pins Mechanical Co fits right in. I will definitely visit again. Whether

We took this Saturday to scout out a good location for my husbands 40th. Let me say this place has it all , you'll feel like a kid again. Free games , a ton of yummy cocktails ( Carrie Fisher was my favorite) the atmosphere is fun for all ages!

Was a cool and chilled. Great atmosphere for all. Lots of engaging games.

The drinks were tasty, the atmosphere was amazing and slide/jenga is the most fun you will have if you give it a try! The video games were nostalgic. Wish one was closer to me in Toledo OH. Didn't rate food as we did not order any

This place is AMAZING! Theres swings outside, everyone was friendly, a slide, great drinks. The ski ball was free, duck-pin bowling was relatively cheap (I believe $10?) and lots of open games. Pinball was $1 per game. Despite a lot of people, we were able to go through the place comfortably. Great place to get a drink and hangout, was a TON of fun!!!

Tons of fun activities- it was a little hectic on a Sunday, lots of kids running around.

Amazing to share with family and friends! Drinks, bowling, slide, swings and outside games for the children.

This place is really cool. Definitely busy when I was there, but the workers still managed to find me and my group to come take out orders even though we were still just walking around. There are tons of activities to do here. Even managed to see someone famous while here! Also, the swings are a very nice touch. I'll happily come back.

Such a fun place! Love that I can bring my kids (after 8pm kids not allowed). Sunday is free bowling and free soda for kids. I love the free arcade and all the games the place has to offer. Beer/cocktail selection was great too. No food sold on site but you can grab food and bring it in. Overall we will come back!

Where to start...I wish this place were better than it is. First is the parking situation: lousy. I parallel parked across the street and saw no signs indicating it was a paid spot. I returned an hour later to a $28 citation from the city for not paying the apparent charge. Next is poor value: a pint of Legion beer was a whopping $15 with 18% tip. It was a Saturday so unsupervised kids were everywhere; one old enough to know better tried taking quarters out of my friend's cup, another would've knocked my be

We had a fun night out here with duckpin bowling, free arcade games, and ping pong (though you need to bring cash for the ping pong ball). The pinball machines looked fun, but they only take cash, which we didn't have. Adding contactless payment would be a great improvement. We finished off the night enjoying the rooftop deck. Definitely recommend this place!

The drinks were really good! And bartenders were super friendly! Loved how much activities there were to do.

Technically, there's no food. However, they do have food trucks outside. There are plenty of games for you and your friends to play. There's a giant slide for everyone to ride. The drinks are good, but sweet. I really enjoyed duck bowling. Parking was a chore. There's a parking lot, but it fills up quickly. Great times!

Great vibes and better city views. Nice spacious place. Games are cheaply priced. Arcade games are FREE. Maybe a wait time for games. There was a food truck right out front. Drinks run about $15 and up. Was very shocked when I was told Don Julio 1942 was $50 a SHOT! Top shelf or not. A little insane to me. Overall enjoyed the establishment.

Awesome games with creative drinks and good food!

Always one of my favorite spots. One of the best Pins mechanical we have ever been to. 100000% recommend you try this place.

We really had a good time here until the server after we paid for the one game came and told us we had to leave because they had a function going on in 20 minutes. She never told us that when we paid for the lane. Also they do not serve food but you can bring your own. It really was a lovely experience there.

I love a good day drinking bar. Came on a Saturday afternoon and unfortunately there were just too many kids running around, not being supervised by their parents. Felt more like a kids arcade than a bar atmosphere wise. Couldnt go to the restroom or order another drink without a kid almost bumping into you. However the service was great and the drinks were good! Most likely won't go there anymore during the day but it's a cool spot.

First time experience of this kind of fun!! This is totally for group fun! Nothing serious and don't need formal Bowling strength and techniques. I did enjoy great fun and wonderful time. In case that people don't like Bowling, there are also classic arcades and pinball machines. This is really a place where you can have fun and relax!! The cost? It's inexpensive compared to Bowling!! Love it!!

Pins Mechanical Co is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, it was a nostalgic trip back to our younger days. The retro arcade games, pinball machines, and even the miniature bowling lanes made this place an unforgettable experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, especially the bartender who went out of her way to make our visit special by giving us a free Coke?such a kind gesture! My friends and I had a blast and genuinely felt like we were 20 years old again, reliving the b

Such a fun place. Lots of games and outdoor space. No food is served here but they do have a bar for drinks.

We had such a great time!!! Only downside was no food served but that's what the food trucks outside were for. Drinks were great! Bartenders make it easy to put in orders wherever you are. Got a lane for duckpin bowling which is so fun!!! Much smaller ball and the shots per frame. The pins have ropes going up so they will fall over but when it resets it clears the knocked pins the rope retracts and sets the unknocked pins back up and keep the ones you hit up out of the way. Slides, swings, giant beer pong m

We stopped in for a quick drink and I wish we had planned to stay longer...it was definitely a vibe! Bartenders were great, drinks were delish! We were even able to get some really good mocktails for our expecting momma friends. Loved the atmosphere, games were fun and the oversized swings were a hit with the crew! The food trucks outside were also a plesant surprise! All in all we had a great time, we would definitely visit again!

It was fun to play but we never received our drinks soooo we left early. Kinda disappointed. The managers were accommodating. But bad impression for first time visitors

Such a fun place for adults and families. Our family played the arcade games and duck pin bowling. My son loved the large slide and swings.

Been here a few times and will not go anymore?this place is trash?went down hill for sure! Service is terrible /staff not friendly especially those at the bar and in the cage where you rent stuff. Half the games don't work and they don't get serviced enough, especially ski ball. Also parking is awful!

Bartender was absolutely rude. Slid drinks across the counter. Had the worst RBF face, tried to console her and ask her to smile and no reaction. I know everyone has bad days but don't need someone like that in a customer service position. Will not be back. Plenty of other places to go to

Sunday was a great day for our visit. Free bowling for the kids was great, and there are no bowling shoes to deal with! We had several cocktails and played arcade games, which were set to free play. My sister enjoyed the nostalgia of Qbert too!

More than half of the games were blocked by private event. In top you have to pay extra event charge. Small beer for 11$ is also not the best value for money ?? all in all being there once is enough.

This place is amazing! We're here on a trip from out of town and I wish we had something like this at home. The drinks are fantastic. I don't drink alcohol and I love that the mocktails are not an afterthought at the bar. They taste great. The prices for activities and games are reasonable. The staff members are very helpful and friendly. Duckpin was so much fun! We loved the massive light brite and the slide is so cool! We'll come back again if we're in town! Also, we loved that it's 21+ after 9. Went from

Food truck outside ruled. Luna pizza. This place has fun activities like bowling on strings. They have the big jenga, corn hole, trash can pong, arcade with absolute hits, and some other things. I bowled and though it was more fun than big ball bowling ?? They have a bar and you can bring in food. Kids out at 9pm. Loved it

Great place to visit when the weather is nice so you can also enjoy the outdoor activities. There are so many fun games to play and the drinks are so creative and fun! Great atmosphere!

This place was awesome. It was our first visit and the drinks were amazing! With one small warning* There's lots of out door space for a nice day or evening. Fire pits. A small rooftop bar, there's also food trucks outside. It was absolutely amazing. Didn't get a chance to play any games since they're first come first served. But it was still an awesome place to go. Will definitely return on a less busy night ???? * (My only warning is that as of this review they don't seem to be worried about capacity(Covi

The best arcade for adults! Not all the games are free but even the free ones were fun to play (old arcade games and jenga). The drinks were pretty good, and the service was awesome. There was an upstairs that lead to another bar and a see saw lol. There were a few food trucks outside for a quick bite as well. It's perfect for a date night or to hang out with friends.

This place is awesome. Good drink selection with pinball, arcade, and various other games available for entertainment. Check out the website; it's too hard to describe everything here. There's like 30 or classic arcade games - Donkey Kong, Frogger, Dig Dug, Galaga, etc. I didn't want to leave.

Part one of my birthday adventure: Pins is always a good time. I didn't get into as much shenanigans as last time when I was yelled at for getting up high in one of their swings and kicking the light-I apologize. This time I kept it chill, just playing arcade games and foosball, which my friend was concerningly good at. The place is nice and spacious and the slide is always fun to go down. I want to try going down head first some time but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

This is my favorite place!! It was my 2nd time there and I decided to celebrate my birthday there....it was one of the best birthdays ever! The staff was so nice, friendly and accommodating! The drinks were delicious!!( I had a LOT of different ones because it was my birthday...lol) The games were awesome. There was so much to do for everyone. My friends with children came as well(earlier in the evening) and had a great time. The fire pits were perfect on a cool night. The view was fantastic from the roof and

This was my first time here. I came alone on a Sunday to play some pinball. Crowd was definitely 20 something's wearing yoga pants. Several people were roller skating (?), it was pretty busy for a Sunday evening. Pinball machines were a dollar and most of the arcade games were free. There were quite a few games. Pinball game were in pretty good condition, a few games needed some tweaks/minor repairs. Lots to do here, a few people had brought their dogs. The mini pin bowling was popular. Cool place. Lots of

This place was jumping! There were a couple of different social groups I was meeting up with on separate occasions, and I was able to bounce back and forth with ease! There were a couple of food trucks out there, great atmosphere. It was raining, but it didn't stop the drinks from flowing and the people from having a good time! Parking was easy to find, well lit area so safe walking to your car, definitely recommend, and most definitely coming back!

Nate was so kind here! Very accommodating to our group during Duckpins and even gave us free dog treats for our pups back home! highly recommend a visit here, the best!!!

My first time in a bar at USA, this bar was members only so you have to fill out a form before you enter, it has a lot of amenities like bowling, souvenirs, giant table games, music and very good variety of beers and drinks. I really enjoy it!!

Good beer selection. It was a nice trip down memory lane playing all the 80's video games. Got some kind of red stain on my pants using the slide so be careful.

Visited pins recently. I had a stellar experience! The bartender, Ari, was so accommodating & professional! She made me feel right at home & I will be visiting again because of her. Thanks pins!

Hello 80?s!!! Great drinks. All games are free but if you drop a quarter it goes to Ronald McDonald House. We had a blast! We'll def be back.

We had so much fun on our date night! Duckpin bowling was great! Loved the outside area. Can't wait for the location in Raleigh to open!

I had so much fun at this bar. The old arcade games were great!

MY FAVORITE BAR IN CHARLOTTE! that said I am a gamer and a large part of my excitement is due to the Nintendo 64?s, the pinball machines and other games available to play there (only the N64 are FTP) HOWEVER this bar does get quite busy around peak hours. They have a rooftop, fire pits, duck ball and more to appeal to everyone. Great spot all and all and personally it brings me so much happiness

Being my 3rd visit to Charlotte from Augusta GA. I am never disappointed! Good drinks, friendly staff and easy to get around. So much fun. Definitely a place to come back with family or friends.

This is going to be a long one I apologize! During the day we would rate Pins a 1/5at night a 3/5! TLDR: Day: it's worse than Chuck-E-Cheese! Night: Music is way too loud! Machines can be janky! My rating expectation: overall a 3 to not hurt the overall score too bad as we still love this place just a lot less! Service is a 5/5 everyone who works there does such an amazing job! Atmosphere is a 2/5 right in the middle of how I feel about day and night! We found this place about 3 years ago or so and LOVED

A bit pricey, but well worth it! The mini bowling is super fun! (Tuesday is bogo for it). Great atmosphere, good drinks, and friendly, helpful staff.

What a great place! Decent bar, great atmosphere. A must for any retro gamer or for someone who wants an upbeat environment to socialize. They even have a jumbo Lite Brite!

We've been to the Pins in Columbus several times and are excited to have it in Charlotte. Our most recent visit was for a happy hour. We tried the Lisa Frank and the Hulk Hogan. Both were good. They're a little expensive for what they are, but they're definitely going for Instagramable with these. You really come here for the games, which we didn't have a chance to play on this visit. I've previously loved duck pin bowling and pinball. The environment is very open. It's a huge space. I think it's very we

No food. Great drinks and activities. The slide was fun and Kay makes the best drinks. Had the smoke & mirrors and a lemon drop with tequila. Kay did her thing, go see her.

Loved our time here. Love the 90s vibe to it. So many great arcade games, with good bowling lanes. The bar has great choices and we loved the giant beer pong! We will definitely come back

First time playing duck pin (bowling which is much easier on your hand, arm and shoulder) and it rocked! To play pinball and Foosball it was a $1/game. The arcade games were all free. Also, cool slide for children and adults and swings! Let's just say it was outright fun! Highly recommend and looking forward to going back again!

The most fun bar in Charlotte, plenty of games and good drinks. Slide and swings tooo

Super cool retro arcade and bowling. Cool atmosphere and staff are awesome.

Our bartender was great! We enjoyed the duckpin bowling. It was a blast playing the old school arcade games and pinball! They literally have all the games you can think of?it's an adult playground!

Sporting a plethora of [both free and paid games] games, an endless variety of drinks ??, a beautiful open rooftop concept, and a modern, chill, and vibrant atmosphere, Pins Mechanical Co. is a new up and coming trendy barcade that is nothing short of a fun place to be for your nights out in Charlotte. While children aren't allow here after 8PM, this is a great place to gather a group of friends for some dope drinks, self care, and endless fun ???? The spacious building contains a wide spectrum of nostalgic

Really fun place. There's a ton to do here, plenty of room for everyone. Great indie and outdoor spots. Free skeeball which was a lot of fun. Nice drinks list. High quality duck pin bowling lanes.

Love all the difference game options. The outdoor hangout area is super chill and fun. I love the swings! When it's cold, they have the fire pit on and it's nice just to sit and have a good time with friends. When they stop serving food late at night, you could order pizza that's about 2 mins away.

We really enjoyed the drinks and the games here. The duck pin bowling was fun. The atmosphere/vibes are there. The staff was on it and kind! They made my mother in law a deliciois NA beverage. My only qualm is it was swarming with unsupervised children. . .I know there family friendly until 8pm. . But it felt like Dave & Busters until that point. I think this place would be 10x better if it was adult only. Or at least 12 and up. Not everything in Charlotte needs to include children.

Out of all the social clubs in Charlotte. Pins Mechanical is the most expensive place I have ever been. This is a the last time I am returning. When you are paying 12$ for a beer you can get a block away for 6$ that is where I the draw the line. The bartenders seem under trained and unfamiliar with the price structure. So you'll pay twice as much for a brew that is listed on the menu for half the price. Stop advertising your drinks as the same price no matter what you get and this won't be a problem. It

To start off with, i would highly recommend if you are coming to hang out at the bar and play games. The service from all the staff was excellent, always polite and quick! the cocktails were really dialed in as well. Really well-rounded on that front for sure. My wife?s company had their office Christmas party here. To preface, I try to put constructive feedback in my reviews and leave out things that cant be controlled. My main issues were that the food was mediocre, drinking water was ?over the bar? onl

So many fun arcade games! Free skeeball too! Great selection of drinks. They have Duck pin bowling, ping pong, and pinball.

When I was there, I was on the swing and somebody picked up my full beer at 1:45. When I went inside to tell them, they gave me my money back, but I wanted my beer. I then went back outside to tell my friends what happened to tell them it's time to leave and all the doors were locked and I couldn't get back inside. Very unwelcoming atmosphere. Very frustrating I will never go back.

Great place to bring the family. I brought my family and we had a blast. They have a lot of old school games like Pac-Man and Galaga. They also have 2 stations of Sega Genesis and super Nintendo with classic games. Overall a great place and will be coming back.

Extremely Fun & Exciting place for adults! Games, Bowling, Food Trucks, Beer, & more! They even have an INDOOR SLIDE & SWINGS for ADULTS!! LOVE IT!

We hosted a great happy hour here. Really great place and super nice staff. A little bit of a bummer they don't serve any food (not even bar food), I was told there are "usually" good trucks outside. Either way, I recommend it.

Had such a great time here with my husband. Loved the arcade games and bowling was so much fun! Will definitely come back.

This was very crowded but understandable for to the unseasonably cold&rainy weather in May MDW! So many options for games including super Nintendo, speedball, Foosball, duck pin bowling, and many retro Arcade games! Have to get in line irl vs virtual via main desk depending on game if crowded. No food, just possibly food truck.

Fun times. Nice vibes. Drinks were nice. Younger crowd but a good time. The rooftop is nice. Lots of ges to choose from. Clean restrooms. Parking can be a little tight. I would recommend and definitely visit again. A couple of food trucks out front in case ypu get hungry.

Out of all the social spots in Charlotte to hang, this one might be my new favorite. It's actually what I was hoping Abari would be when that place opened. This is perfectly nostalgic but modern and airy. Not sure how the arcade games are for free but I'm here for it. Took my 11 year old at noon on a sat and was able to secure a lane pretty quickly. We had never played duckpin but it was easy to pick up. I loved all the nods to our childhood. Didn't try any drinks due to being on mom duty but they had a col

Fun for the kids for sure. Not having food though makes things a bit of a pain. The food trucks are good if they are there but it's hit or miss. Servers are nice for the most part.

A very fun place to take your friends for fun and cool drinks. The drinks are always delicious and I like that they serve them in real glass as opposed to most bars with plastic cups. The drinks are a little bit more pricey than you would pay at other local bars, about $15 per drink. But you get what you pay for, the liquor seems to be better quality and the drinks are so much fun, a lot of them have candy in them or some thing seasonal. Some of the games are free and others like the bowling you pay for.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
