Customer Reviews

This is the best bowling alley I've ever been to. The employees are always very professional and dressed well. The spaces are amazingly clean and the food is great. I became a member because it's such a great place to bring the family and friends. And everyone I've introduced the place to has said the same. Truly better than the rest.

The facility itself is great, but the staff is poorly trained and consistently rude. I highly recommend calling ahead before showing up because they rarely have lanes available for open bowl. If you do show up, be prepared to be treated like an infant.

Came with a bunch of friends the other night. Staff were super kind and attentive. Allen was the manager working that night and he was great! ?? Thanks for being flexible with our reservation. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Always a good time at Pinboy?s! Staff are friendly and sometimes go the extra mile! Prices are reasonable and the lanes and balls are in greta condition! They even have a bar/lounge area with a pool table and an arcade section! Fun for all!

I have been bowling here since 1974 off and on it was originally Thunderbird Bowling Lanes. I love the bowling lanes here ????Located in the Hilltop area on Laskin Road. The bowling lanes at Pinboy?s are cleaned several times a day and well maintained. Pinboy?s is my favorite bowling alley. Pinboy?s have league bowling, package deals, billiards, food, drinks, and more. Pinboy?s At the Beach is named top 10 bowling alleys in Virginia. The restrooms seems to be the original ones in 1970. Really need to update

This place is great. Family oriented, clean, friendly, and the staff is the best! Nicest lanes in Hampton Roads, best prices for public bowling lanes in the area as well.

Now that they are opening up more open play and not solely focused on league play we definitely intend to go there a lot more.

We had a great time. The staff was nice and friendly, the food was delicious, everything was neat and clean. We will definitely be back.

I used to go to this bowling alley when I was a child in the early 70s. Lay night, I took my wife, her sister and another friend for 2 hours of bowling. It was busy (Friday, 7:30pm), but we got a lane, shoes, nachos and some mixed drinks? and went straight to our lane, and the large table reserved for us. 2 hours later, we were sad to leave. The staff was professional and very nice, the shoes were clean and comfortable, the drinks were well made and reasonably priced, and the bowling was SO much fun. Highly

Pinboys is a favorite local spot that has awesome hospitality. The facility is clean, the lanes are pristine and the best part is knowing you are going to have a good time. The instructions to setup the game is simple, but if you have a question don't hesitate to ask the staff as they are more than willing to accommodate. They do not have duck pins but that doesn't prevent younger kids from making spares or strikes as they have the bumpers and the bowling ball slide (unsure of the technical term) in order

It was fun tbh food is food is over priced in my opinion foods is straight buns *don't waist your money* cheese on pizza tastes old over all 3 stars

Went there before even 11 pm on memorial day stupid manager closed because they ?Had no business? and it clearly said 12 pm to 11 pm

I took my two sweet kids for a fun Sunday evening at the bowling alley, but things didn't go as planned. We got there at 6:45pm, knowing they closed at 9pm, I felt that was plenty of time to get a lane for 30-40 min with my two well behaved kiddos. So, what was disappointing was that there were at least four empty lanes, when I walked in and the staff didn't seem too keen on helping us. We passed bar staff etc. without any welcome. ?? When I asked at the front desk about getting a lane, I didn't feel very

Fun atmosphere, kids enjoyed it. Would have been 5 stars, but for the lingering smell of cigarette smoke from the closed off bar area.

Update: More lanes and opportunities opened up post-Summer season; I was able to buy another pass and bowl more often, sometimes even during league sessions. Definitely good to know the league schedule so you can plan around it. Friendly staff. Best lanes in VB. ??- This alley has the best lanes and I always loved bowling here! Decided to buy the membership pass this year and haven't been able to secure a lane (this is twice already I have been turned down). Leagues have been taking up all lanes during the

Barbara and her team are amazing! Great family bowling day. Amazing military discount and great staff. Our waitress Alyssa was great and very friendly.

Fun experience and decent food. Just beware of the coupons, they are very deceiving. Use the coupon online for a better deal than the one they pass out at the alley. Used to be buy one game get one free during open bowling. Now you have to have a coupon for each person and it's only one game.

Love this place . Has alot to do from bowling, pool table, arcade games , great food and a full bar

Friendly staff not too crowded, and they have a lot of events.

It's sad how much they increased the price for a membership. We used to do the membership for a couple years but it's $100 for just my husband and I and not to mention they constantly have leagues so good luck even getting your unlimited bowling because leagues go everyday almost from 5:30 - 9pm so the only time we can only bowl with our 2 year old is that time. We stopped coming here for this reason.

Always a good time with friendly staff and reasonable prices for bowling as well as food. Cant go wrong going here for some indoor fun!!! Best lanes in Virginia beach.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Waiting in line for 5 mins for the manager to tell us we missed our time slot because we were 2 mins late when we were in the 10 minute window. When the ?original? wait time was over an 1 hour and half which changed to 20 minute notice. Don't waste your time on a business who the men that run it speak down on you. We will never return. Bad business look for VB!!!

Was fun. Prices not bad. Very clean

Best bowling alley! Management is superior

My review for it as Pinboy's still exists on here, but why not make an updated review? Things have changed a lot for the better in the last 2 years here in almost every way. The way the lanes are set up for league due to this scamdemic are very different than normal, but hey....At least bowling exists once again and I for one will settle for now. Hopefully, it's not the new normal overall though. Other than that, I like that they have a colored pin randomly set as the head pin and if you get a strike on

There was an issue that bowling pins wouldn't come down. They couldn't fix the problem ended up refund some of the bill. Overall it's a good place.

Overall our experience was amazing, the people at the desk were so kind and accommodating. The bartenders were very attentive and timely. The prices were very fare and we had a great night out!! The best bowling alley at the beach and always has been However, the woman that was greeting people at the entry way was very rude and should not be the face of your company. She had very poor mannerisms and acted as if we were an inconvenience. We asked if we could get a drink while waiting the "hour plus wait" an

front customer service lady with the black hair is rude. Every single time we go, she has an impatient attitude. she clearly has personal issues, and needs to resolve them. she acts like everything is an inconvenience. we come here to have fun. she need to get another job, if she can't handle that type of work. I can't imagine thats what a business looks to be a representation. she acts like a child, it's just silly stomping around and talking under her breath.

You could find a better place to bowl than here The people up front at the counter weren't specific and transparent of how each paying customer could play two games The pricing wasn't really cheap either and the wait was much longer on a Friday night at 9pm. I'd say just go to vaoerobowl when in va beach They do have a bowling league too here as well that keeps it busy with the locals Parking is limited and overflow is next door to the location

I went here with a group (9 of us) and I wasn't really sure of all that was available for foods. I did look at the menu and thought of something to get, however when I walked up to order I was cut off when I was trying to explain what I saw on the menu, and she did not even listen. I tried to describe again and she cut me off and said "You know we have a menu right on the table?" AND rolled her eyes and said "do you know what you want?". And I tried AGAIN to tell her about the list of items under "Snack" an

Bustling atmosphere, tons of competition and rewards offered during league night. The place is clean and all lanes were functional. The food is typical fried stuffs but the staff are pretty quick. If you want a good family event without going broke, this would be a good place to go.

My first time here was with a group of friends and we all enjoyed the setup and the staff. The systems worked great, well taken care of and a really nice environment. The food was also not bad for being a bowling alley. Good portions and pretty quick turn out. I would advise this place to small to mid size groups of people. Good pricing :) Thank you.

This place is nice. The service was fast and friendly on a busy night. The atmosphere was playful and inviting. We had a free game night coupon when we went so I don't know what their prices are. The lanes were clean and there were plenty of balls to choose from on the racks. The music was a little loud for my taste though. Overall, a positive experience.

Very rude at the counter and dismissive. I asked to talk to a manager. Would not identify anybody as a manager. Then when I tried to discuss any sort of events that I wanted to have at the place. Was told to basically kick rocks. I don't think I have ever had any business turn away business in such a manner before. Probably the most unprofessional establishment I have ever tried to talk to.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff. They genuinely made us feel like they were happy we were there. The place was clean with a large selection of house balls. The equipment worked well including the computerized scoring.

Good place, $100 for 2 hours lane unlimited games and shoes included. Staff was nice and beer prices weren't bad, pitchers for $18.

Bowling is good, beer is good priced. The front desk staff, in particular one woman, is incredibly rude. The wait staff and everyone else was a pleasure but when the people behind the front desk need to find a new job.

A little hard to find if you're not from the area. The staff was great- really friendly and helpful. They were beyond accommodating for our large group of 14. They also have good food but the drink prices could be better. We will be back for sure!!

Walked in today and security guards out front and what appeared to be some event inside as the lights were dimmed and music was playing. I went to the counter and a kid asked me what he could help with. I advised him I wanted to bowl with my daughter who is 3 1/2. He went to the back and grabbed another guy who came out and asked what we needed. I advised him that we wanted to bowl and he looked at my daughter. He advised me ? Just to let you know its uncensored music playing right now ?. I told him it wasn

So much fun! This past weekend was my first visit though I've lived here for over a decade! This is such a cute bowling alley! It really has a retro look - but is well-kept and felt like a local's joint. Staff were friendly and helpful and they have tons and tons of food on a large menu at the bar area with lots of seating around. I didn't see a lot of open seating as the tables are assigned for the lanes mostly. We chose to play as many games as we could fo $22 a person for 2 hours plus shoe rental.

Had a great game area for kids.

Friendly employees, great place to meet up with friends, best bowling deals for your money. VERY league friendly.

Everyone was really nice. They have more choices of food and they go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied with whatever you order. My only concern is that they will only let you bowl on one lane, even when there are a lot of open lanes. But i did like the staff. It was clean and I would go back again and again, would even consider joining g a league this summer to see if I really like this place.

I made a reservation today to bowl by myself. Great experience, friendly staff and I had a great time. Great location and easy to find. I enjoy Pinboy's and pricing is reasonable. Always have a good time here. Good food selection and a small beer selection, but good choices.

Often busy with the number of Leagues, call ahead and ask when Open Bowl will be available or schedule online. The food is excellent, with plenty of options and occasional specials! The only downside is no refills for Soda Refills; water is readily available. Lowering my Dr. Pepper intake is probably a good thing, though! Great place for casual bowlers and those that want to step up their game with SPECTO available on 8 lanes! Make sure to stop by the Pro Shop. -Vin

Went here with my neighbor Scott because he is on a bowling league here on Monday night's. The manager was so nice, he allowed me and my caregiver to bowl with Scott although we are not member's. Boy! We had a great time. I recommend this place to friend's and family who want to get out and have some fun.

It's bowling. If that's what you're there for? you'll have a good time. When scanning their website menu online and ordering from it at the counter, server wasn't even aware of menu items on their website. Even asked another employee if they had a menu online. Seemed confused that they even had a website. Food was OK, bowling was great. Bathrooms were awful. Just made me question how clean the kitchen is.. I'd recommend if you were just looking to bowl. Would never go here for a ?nice? evening out with f

Management and staff care! They want your visit to be fun so you will return. Strange concept.

Very clean family friendly atmosphere with reasonable pricing for food and entertainment. The staff were very prompt to address our needs and wants throughout the night. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend for a great night out.

Very clean, well maintained, and up to date. We felt welcomed by the staff and management who are very friendly and willing to help. They have a full bar and food, looked good. Our first time bowling at the beach and had an awesome time at Pinboy's!! We will definitely go back next year....

Great staff, very clean and a great time!

Oh where do I start!! We had our sons 5th birthday party here, it was hands down an amazing experience. To start off, the booking and planning up to the event was easy and seemless, their down payment is simple and allows you to have more control on what you're getting the day of. We had a total of 14 children and 6 adults, we had 3 lanes which were party themed and very high tech! I loved the updates on the lanes as well, the food was great! And their many options to add were great as well! Timing was wond

Hands down the best alley I've been to (including lanes out of state and overseas). Friendly and accommodating staff, we'll maintained light oiled lanes, and some of the best wings I've ever had. Pro shop is on point and does quality work. Would highly recommend to league bowlers looking for fun or competitive leagues or families looking to beat the heat in the summer.

Great place to bowl, my son enjoyed it also. Food was good too.

I was there for a group celebration, they were very busy. The first encounter of customer service was good, friendly. Placed two intitial orders they came pretty promptly. The pizza was sub-par but the appetizer sampler was pretty good. But I'm not judging a bowling alley for there food. We ordered another pizza which they made incorrectly, didn't tell us and only found out after we prompted them to figure out why it took almost an hour to get our pizza. Had they came and explained that I would be more unde

I reserved 3 lanes for a family reunion event. Unfortunately, I noticed a disparity in how the manager treated our party and other parties with identical reservations. He very meticulously showed other [white] groups to their lanes and explained how to use the scoreboard. Conversely, he indifferently motioned towards the direction of the lanes after I had to ASK which ones were assigned to my group. Absolutely ridiculous! We weren't made to feel welcome at all...I guess that's because we really weren't. So

This is a very dated bowling alley. It's small, which isn't a bad thing, however it's cramped and old feeling. I've been in leagues and bowling alleys around the state, and I would choose to go anywhere but here. Gave it a try after many years, and it still looks the same. Not a good ventilation system, surprisingly, since they have an indoor smoking room. Employees seem like they can care less, unless you are a regular. No one comes around to see if you need anything and their lanes broke down quite often.

We went here for my son's birthday and had a great time.

I will never go here again. We put our names on the waiting list for one lane, waited an hour and a half before deciding it was best to leave. I went to the counter where a very rude employee asked me what I name was so I can take my name off, only for her to tell me that someone already took my name off the list. That was unacceptable considering we didn't have our name called at all the entire time we waited. The bartender never asked us if we wanted more drinks, just took our money and ghosted. Horrible

I'm sorry but this place is not worth the trip at all. As soon as me and my family walked in, I instantly felt nauseous due to the stench of cigarette smoke. Trying to play pool there was a joke. $9 an hour for ragged 8 foot tables with messed up cue sticks was no fun at all. After just 13 minutes there, I could no longer tolerate the smell or the atmosphere and had to get out of there.

We made a reservation for Halloween and our service was the best! Everyone greeted us with such an upbeat and amazing attitude and the precautions they took to ensure everyone was safe was great! We had a great time bowling and we are looking forward to doing it again! Thanks Pinboys for making our night fun!??????

Nice, clean, friendly environment! Would've gave it a 5 star but the fried shrimp wasn't done all the way. Overall I will be returning but shrimp won't be on the list lol.

Like, stuff of the building is really nice. They serve beer and others alcohol and nonalcoholic beverages. I was there with friends. We paid 10,75$ for 2 hours each. Price is good, but cannot say that it is coolest place that I ever been there.

First time I was impressed. Got the little passes for kids bowl free and now they give me every excuse in the book. This is my third attempt. I was told they were booked/packed/ yet 20-25 lanes were empty... Would like a call from a manager/owner Rip off!!!

Prices a little higher than other places in the area. But it is conveniently located to the beach. Food options were pretty good. Our family always has a good time there.

Came to play pool, which I know is not common at a place that is primarily for bowling, but it was advertised to have pool tables. They were SO bad the balls wouldn't roll straight...to the point of nearly going in wrong pockets being THAT uneven and worn. Staff was not knowledgeable about drinks, 2 basic drinks cost over $20-not worth the measured pour at ALL. Music was lacking and looked as though there was a lot of underage drinking and overserving going on, not that I understand how they could afford it

It smells like cigarette smoke in here all the time. They have a smoking room, but it obviously seeps out underneath. It also has notes of a musty, damp or dusty smell. This may not bother some people, but for those with strong allergies or asthma, it is quite discomforting. The lanes here are set up so you feel like you're right on top of the people next to you. Sometimes, it is just so loud in here, you can't enjoy quality time with your kids. They seem to offer better pricing in terms of leagues and pass

Unlike AMF, you can actually enjoy an affordable night of bowling here. The rates aren't bad and they have plenty of special rates on different nights. The absolute best deal in town for bowling is through their text club. Offers for free bowling on Thursday, Friday, or Sunday nights every week. Offers for free or reduced bowling on numerous random days throughout the week. The staff there is very friendly and professional. Kitchen and bar is awesome, too. Super cold draft beer, the best mac and cheese bite

Love this place so very very much. We should go more. We used to go more. Thats our fault. Greatest date nights happen here sometimes too fellas ?? They make paying for this possibly wayyyyy cheaper with coupons and deals online, in store, and as you bowl notice the propaganda that will lead you to save as well. Im literally planning on going today now ??

Didn't go for bowling but for an open mic. I'm on a road trip and it's my first time here. The reason for the 2 star review is because the temperature was below freezing and the fact that people were allowed to smoke in there.

Great traditional bowling alley on the beach. Hasn't been completely renovated but shows signs of recent additions like digital TV's for entertainment and scoring. The bar is smaller but definitely serviceable. There's also a small game room for kids.

Hosted 5 or so events here over the past couple of months and it has always been a successful experience. Decent "fast food" quality meals and appetizers delivered right to your lane. Plenty of bowling shoes in every size and an assortment of bowling balls to accommodate any size hand (or fingers). The bar can make almost any drink you can think of and makes them well. A bit annoying to get to due to being in the Laskin/Hilltop area where the roads are crappy, but still worth the trip.

I've been playing it safe and staying home since the pandemic, that being said Pinboys has been my second outing. I had an absolutely awesome experience! They sanitized, sanitized, sanitized! They really make you feel comfortable. I did bring my own hand sanitizer for when I used my bowling ball. I was definitely impressed with management and their employees!!

Have been here twice to take advantage of their "kids bowl free" program. Not a great experience. This is a place for serious bowlers - the only other families there were obviously families that also took bowling very seriously. Not a single casual bowler in sight. Today started with being told about bowling etiquette from the person using the lane beside us (how the kids needed to let her play in between throwing their turns each frame so we weren't in her peripheral vision when she was trying to bowl. She

Great bowling deal for the family. $10 one time fee for the winter and two games a week for the family will only cost you shoe rental. Food is good and at a good price. Only draw back pitchers of domestic way over priced at $12.50.

Our son has participated in the youth saturday morning league for a couple of years and gotten quite good. we decided that we would all join the saturday evening big and little league this year. I do love the fact that when we go there everyone knows us. That's hard in a city as big as VB.

The place was really busy but that was fine but one of the ladies was missed informed bout her job and told us wrong info at check in long story short told us we couldn't have bumpers cuz we were adults 2 adults and 3 children we always have gotten bumpers no questions ask she then proceed to tell me that the bumpers are really expensive to fix so be careful..really I don't care how expensive they are ...really don't care ...talked to the manager after that and he was very helpful

My family and I moved to VB almost two years ago and we have been looking for a nice place to go bowling. We can only go on Sundays as we are working all week like most. We were finally able to go one Sunday to this bowling alley which is less then 10 mins from home. My were we disappointed. First they say due to Covid only 5 people to a section. Why....that is a little extreme...I have a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children). They have everyone spaced out every three lanes. But the tournament folks can hav

Fun, energy filled atmosphere. Great staff! Night bowling is awesome when the lanes are light up. There's pool, games, drinks and the food is great also. What's not to love?!

This place sucks I went in asked how much pool was $9.50 a game an hour on a 8 foot pool table after little while playing a saw two guys playing on the same table feet across for $50. Cents a game I was like damn then I got me a White Russian for $7.50 I was told by the rude so call bar tender I should have looked close but it Cleary said White Russians $5.50 on sign but I already gave her my money so the whole night on my birthday I felt like I should had brought my Preparation H what a messed up deal here

We bowled here many times, use the place for corporate events and when we arrived yesterday to an EMPTY parking lot a little after 6pm we were told we couldn't bowl until after 9pm. We came with 4 children and over half of the lanes were open. They said they were holding the lanes for leauges that would arrive in 20 minutes or so. I asked to speak with a manager and was told the same thing- and most upsettingly they were unapologetic and rude and had the nerve to tell me (three different staff members) s

Love this bowling ally. Everyone was super friendly and the food was great! I got the chicken tender meal and a tea. So much food. Was here for a work event and so glad we went here instead of a chain.

Great place to go out with my family. Staff are very kind, and let us know if we needed anything they where there to help us out. I was very pleased.

It was surprisingly fun! I haven't been bowling since I was in high school, and I've always said I wasn't much of a bowler, but... I actually had a lot of fun! My coworkers were a riot and the food was actually much better than the last experience I had at a bowling alley. Well done, Pinboy's! ??????????

Had a Groupon and we took the kids! Had fun and the staff was more than happy to help when they noticed we were having trouble getting started (we didn't even have to ask) we will be going back for sure! Thanks for the great service guys!

Clean, family friendly bowling alley. Computerized and automatic gutter blockers for the kids (in all of us). Enjoyed so much booked my daughters birthday party there. My only suggestion would be to get better concession food.

Hands-down the best bowling alley in the Hampton Roads area! Super friendly staff, clean and appealing environment, family friendly, full bar, great food, and the BEST SPECIALS! I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a good time. Tell 'em Brendo sent you.

Worst experience EVER !!!!! So my family and arrived and checked in. We were advised that there is a wait. The associate asked us if we can wait they'll get a lane and a table cleaned off for us in about 15-20 mins or less . We waited and checked back and the guy at the check in desk had the audacity to say we walked away without giving him a name . As an employee of you give some one a wait time you would make sure you asked for someone in a party of 6 name. We set by the door . The white gentlemen at the

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
