Pinboy's At the Beach

This is the best bowling alley I've ever been to. The employees are always very professional and dressed well. The spaces are amazingly clean and the food is great. I became a member because it's such a great place to bring the family and friends. And everyone I've introduced the place to has said the same. Truly better than the rest.

The facility itself is great, but the staff is poorly trained and consistently rude. I highly recommend calling ahead before showing up because they rarely have lanes available for open bowl. If you do show up, be prepared to be treated like an infant.

Came with a bunch of friends the other night. Staff were super kind and attentive. Allen was the manager working that night and he was great! ?? Thanks for being flexible with our reservation. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Always a good time at Pinboy?s! Staff are friendly and sometimes go the extra mile! Prices are reasonable and the lanes and balls are in greta condition! They even have a bar/lounge area with a pool table and an arcade section! Fun for all!

I have been bowling here since 1974 off and on it was originally Thunderbird Bowling Lanes. I love the bowling lanes here ????Located in the Hilltop area on Laskin Road. The bowling lanes at Pinboy?s are cleaned several times a day and well maintained. Pinboy?s is my favorite bowling alley. Pinboy?s have league bowling, package deals, billiards, food, drinks, and more. Pinboy?s At the Beach is named top 10 bowling alleys in Virginia. The restrooms seems to be the original ones in 1970. This place is great. Family oriented, clean, friendly, and the staff is the best! Nicest lanes in Hampton Roads, best prices for public bowling lanes in the area as well.

Now that they are opening up more open play and not solely focused on league play we definitely intend to go there a lot more.

I used to go to this bowling alley when I was a child in the early 70s. Lay night, I took my wife, her sister and another friend for 2 hours of bowling. It was busy (Friday, 7:30pm), but we got a lane, shoes, nachos and some mixed drinks? and went straight to our lane, and the large table reserved for us. 2 hours later, we were sad to leave. Pinboys is a favorite local spot that has awesome hospitality. The facility is clean, the lanes are pristine and the best part is knowing you are going to have a good time. The instructions to setup the game is simple, but if you have a question don't hesitate to ask the staff as they are more than willing to accommodate. I took my two sweet kids for a fun Sunday evening at the bowling alley, but things didn't go as planned. We got there at 6:45pm, knowing they closed at 9pm, I felt that was plenty of time to get a lane for 30-40 min with my two well behaved kiddos. Update: More lanes and opportunities opened up post-Summer season; I was able to buy another pass and bowl more often, sometimes even during league sessions. Fun experience and decent food. Just beware of the coupons, they are very deceiving. Use the coupon online for a better deal than the one they pass out at the alley. Used to be buy one game get one free during open bowling. Now you have to have a coupon for each person and it's only one game.

It's sad how much they increased the price for a membership. We used to do the membership for a couple years but it's $100 for just my husband and I and not to mention they constantly have leagues so good luck even getting your unlimited bowling because leagues go everyday almost from 5:30 - 9pm so the only time we can only bowl with our 2 year old is that time. We stopped coming here for this reason.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Waiting in line for 5 mins for the manager to tell us we missed our time slot because we were 2 mins late when we were in the 10 minute window. When the ?original? wait time was over an 1 hour and half which changed to 20 minute notice. Don't waste your time on a business who the men that run it speak down on you. We will never return. There was an issue that bowling pins wouldn't come down. They couldn't fix the problem ended up refund some of the bill. Overall it's a good place.

I went here with a group (9 of us) and I wasn't really sure of all that was available for foods. I did look at the menu and thought of something to get, however when I walked up to order I was cut off when I was trying to explain what I saw on the menu, and she did not even listen. Bustling atmosphere, tons of competition and rewards offered during league night. The place is clean and all lanes were functional. The food is typical fried stuffs but the staff are pretty quick. If you want a good family event without going broke, this would be a good place to go.

My first time here was with a group of friends and we all enjoyed the setup and the staff. The systems worked great, well taken care of and a really nice environment. This place is nice. The service was fast and friendly on a busy night. The atmosphere was playful and inviting. We had a free game night coupon when we went so I don't know what their prices are. The lanes were clean and there were plenty of balls to choose from on the racks. The music was a little loud for my taste though. Overall, a positive experience.

Very rude at the counter and dismissive. I asked to talk to a manager. Would not identify anybody as a manager. Then when I tried to discuss any sort of events that I wanted to have at the place. Was told to basically kick rocks. I don't think I have ever had any business turn away business in such a manner before. Probably the most unprofessional establishment I have ever tried to talk to.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff. They genuinely made us feel like they were happy we were there. The place was clean with a large selection of house balls. The equipment worked well including the computerized scoring.

So much fun! This past weekend was my first visit though I've lived here for over a decade! This is such a cute bowling alley! It really has a retro look - but is well-kept and felt like a local's joint. Staff were friendly and helpful and they have tons and tons of food on a large menu at the bar area with lots of seating around. I didn't see a lot of open seating as the tables are assigned for the lanes mostly. We chose to play as many games as we could fo $22 a person for 2 hours plus shoe rental.

Everyone was really nice. They have more choices of food and they go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied with whatever you order. My only concern is that they will only let you bowl on one lane, even when there are a lot of open lanes. But i did like the staff. Often busy with the number of Leagues, call ahead and ask when Open Bowl will be available or schedule online. The food is excellent, with plenty of options and occasional specials! The only downside is no refills for Soda Refills; water is readily available. Lowering my Dr. Pepper intake is probably a good thing, though! Went here with my neighbor Scott because he is on a bowling league here on Monday night's. The manager was so nice, he allowed me and my caregiver to bowl with Scott although we are not member's. Boy! We had a great time. I recommend this place to friend's and family who want to get out and have some fun.

It's bowling. If that's what you're there for? you'll have a good time. When scanning their website menu online and ordering from it at the counter, server wasn't even aware of menu items on their website. Even asked another employee if they had a menu online. Hands down the best alley I've been to (including lanes out of state and overseas). Friendly and accommodating staff, we'll maintained light oiled lanes, and some of the best wings I've ever had. Pro shop is on point and does quality work. Would highly recommend to league bowlers looking for fun or competitive leagues or families looking to beat the heat in the summer.

I reserved 3 lanes for a family reunion event. Unfortunately, I noticed a disparity in how the manager treated our party and other parties with identical reservations. He very meticulously showed other [white] groups to their lanes and explained how to use the scoreboard. Conversely, he indifferently motioned towards the direction of the lanes after I had to ASK which ones were assigned to my group. Absolutely ridiculous! This is a very dated bowling alley. It's small, which isn't a bad thing, however it's cramped and old feeling. I've been in leagues and bowling alleys around the state, and I would choose to go anywhere but here. Gave it a try after many years, and it still looks the same. Not a good ventilation system, surprisingly, since they have an indoor smoking room. Employees seem like they can care less, unless you are a regular. No one comes around to see if you need anything and their lanes broke down quite often.

I went to the counter where a very rude employee asked me what I name was so I can take my name off, only for her to tell me that someone already took my name off the list. I'm sorry but this place is not worth the trip at all. As soon as me and my family walked in, I instantly felt nauseous due to the stench of cigarette smoke. Trying to play pool there was a joke. $9 an hour for ragged 8 foot tables with messed up cue sticks was no fun at all. After just 13 minutes there, I could no longer tolerate the smell or the atmosphere and had to get out of there.

We made a reservation for Halloween and our service was the best! Everyone greeted us with such an upbeat and amazing attitude and the precautions they took to ensure everyone was safe was great! Came to play pool, which I know is not common at a place that is primarily for bowling, but it was advertised to have pool tables. They were SO bad the balls wouldn't roll straight...to the point of nearly going in wrong pockets being THAT uneven and worn. It smells like cigarette smoke in here all the time. They have a smoking room, but it obviously seeps out underneath. It also has notes of a musty, damp or dusty smell. This may not bother some people, but for those with strong allergies or asthma, it is quite discomforting. The lanes here are set up so you feel like you're right on top of the people next to you. Unlike AMF, you can actually enjoy an affordable night of bowling here. The rates aren't bad and they have plenty of special rates on different nights. The absolute best deal in town for bowling is through their text club. Offers for free bowling on Thursday, Friday, or Sunday nights every week. Didn't go for bowling but for an open mic. I'm on a road trip and it's my first time here. The reason for the 2 star review is because the temperature was below freezing and the fact that people were allowed to smoke in there.

Great traditional bowling alley on the beach. Hasn't been completely renovated but shows signs of recent additions like digital TV's for entertainment and scoring. The bar is smaller but definitely serviceable. There's also a small game room for kids.

Hosted 5 or so events here over the past couple of months and it has always been a successful experience. Decent "fast food" quality meals and appetizers delivered right to your lane. Plenty of bowling shoes in every size and an assortment of bowling balls to accommodate any size hand (or fingers). The bar can make almost any drink you can think of and makes them well. A bit annoying to get to due to being in the Laskin/Hilltop area where the roads are crappy, but still worth the trip.

I've been playing it safe and staying home since the pandemic, that being said Pinboys has been my second outing. I had an absolutely awesome experience! They sanitized, sanitized, sanitized! Our son has participated in the youth saturday morning league for a couple of years and gotten quite good. we decided that we would all join the saturday evening big and little league this year. I do love the fact that when we go there everyone knows us. That's hard in a city as big as VB.

My family and I moved to VB almost two years ago and we have been looking for a nice place to go bowling. We can only go on Sundays as we are working all week like most. This place sucks I went in asked how much pool was $9.50 a game an hour on a 8 foot pool table after little while playing a saw two guys playing on the same table feet across for $50. We bowled here many times, use the place for corporate events and when we arrived yesterday to an EMPTY parking lot a little after 6pm we were told we couldn't bowl until after 9pm.
