Pinball Alley

Pinball Alley

Reviews Summary

Pinball Alley receives mixed reviews, with strong polarization in customer experiences. Many praise the extensive selection, excellent restorations, professional deliveries, and helpful staff (particularly Jerry and Ashley), awarding perfect scores. Several highlight flawless transactions and exceptional service. However, negative reviews cite poor communication, unprofessional behavior, overpricing, and frustrating policies like prohibiting game testing. Critical customers report issues with repairs, trustworthiness, and unpleasant shop conditions. While numerous clients enthusiastically recommend them for purchases and restorations, others vehemently warn against doing business there. The quality of service appears inconsistent.

Customer Reviews

My sincere thanks to Jerry Hamza, Ashley M. and the entire staff at Marlen's Amusement / Pinball Alley for the awesome customer service and assistance with the purchase of my vintage 1959 AMI jukebox. They took care of all the packing and shipping arrangements for me and my jukebox arrived in excellent and undamaged condition after a long trip to Indiana. Ashley went above and beyond to keep me informed every step of the way. I am an extremely satisfied customer and would definitely purchase from them

Would like to extend a big thank you too everyone at Pinball Alley. Everyone going above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect.

Always a great experience when I get to walk into Pinball Alley. They have a large assortment of pinballs and other arcade style games to feast your eyes on, from used to new. Knowledgeable staff and kind delivery guys. They have one heck of an artist, Ashley, too! You will most likely get a call from the owner, Jerry, after you purchase a game. Stop into their showroom and let your inner child come out - bring your credit card too.

I took my 1993 Star Trek TNG machine and a 1979 Asteroids arcade game to Pinball Alley in Rochester to have them fixed. The Asteroids game hadn't worked in years and the Star Trek game I had purchased privately in November 2019 and it only worked for 3 months. I stopped in to Pinball Alley to see if they could help me out and after a very informative discussion with Jerry I agreed to have him fix both machines. While I was in the shop I looked at and was given access to any of the hundred or so working mach

Cannot recommend Pinball Alley in Rochester any less. Half a day wasted with them not wanting to send a tech out for an issue with my new machine, and got to listen to the owner and his assistant abuse the delivery guys all day because they couldn't fix an issue they aren't trained to fix. Stay away. *2022 update* I just wanted to take a moment to update this review 6 months out from having bought my machine. There were a number of things that went poorly in this transaction: The machine was delivered

Recently bought a pin from Pinball Alley and couldn't be happier! The machine itself was in great condition (as advertised) and they delivered and set up in my place tested, tweaked what needed tweaking and made sure everything was 100% before leaving. The whole process from beginning to end was great and Jerry, his family and the crew are as good as it gets in this biz! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My daughters and I visited Marlen's/Pinball Alley a month or so ago, and were very excited to see the games and try them all out. We purchased and received two pinball machines and an air hockey table and received them in the last week. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and setup our new in house arcade for us professionally and neatly, and all included in the purchase price.. And now we are trying to figure if we can squeeze more in...

Pinball Alley is really an awesome place. There is a variety of pins and the staff is super helpful and accommodating. We left last month with a Elvira and the Party Monsters pinball and our family loves it! They also delivered. We will be back soon to add to our home collection!

Purchased my first Pinball machine recently. Jerry and the entire staff were super helpful and the restoration came out perfect. The delivery men were on time and had no issues setting up my new machine. Thank you!

Just purchase the Foo fighters pro from them. Nobody else had one except for them. I looked everywhere. Communication was good. They answered all my questions. The delivery driver was on time to the minute and professional. Great service. Highly suggested using them. Will use them in the future

I want to share with everyone how pleased and excited I am with the Pinball Alley team on the restoration of my 1970 Gottlieb Dimensions Pinball Machine. Restoration of the cabinet, and the playing field was superb. The pop-up targets fire up fast and never miss a beat. The bumper and flipper action is faster and better than it ever was. The overall action went from sluggish to lightening fast. New rubbers and LED lights, polished steel, new glass, backplane touchup, new legs, all plastic cleaned and

I stop in to browse to look at to add to my basement game room. So I push the button to try a pinball game and was told that this is not a arcade!!! Really I'm looking to spend my hard earned money and I cant try out the game!!! Nice customer service there . Also you could smell cigar smoke as soon as you walk in very unappealing. 1 suggestion please post a sign on the door and inform customers to LOOK BUT DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE GAMES!!!! So I guess I will take my $3500 and shop elsewhere that is more cu

I understand that this is a business that has overhead, but the price-to-condition ratio is absolutely atrocious. If you want a mediocre pinball cleaning, and to pay top-dollar prices, come here and have a blast. Otherwise there are other markets that are much more reasonable.

This place is absolutely beautiful. So many pinball and arcade machines! It's like going back to a more fun time in history!

Great machines and great service! So many options to pick from including some classics - go check em out!

Very very poor communication from secretary up

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
