Place is a joke. Brought in 8 in box NES games(two had instructions). My friend told me they pay good for games. Not so much. They offered me $149 in cash. I did my homework before selling. Worth quite a bit more. Little did they know that Ive been collecting and selling for years. Smart ass kid working there asked me where I got the games. This is why you sell online. It may take longer but it's much better. Phoenix games missed out on hundreds of future vintage games.
Had a bunch of video gaming consoles, controllers etc that I wanted to sell and met with the owner and his right hand man. Very cool and straightforward dudes. They checked everything out and gave me a very fair price. Great atmosphere great collection of arcade games. Highly recommend ??
I had a video game that I was hoping to sell or trade for store credit and went to Phoenix Games for the first time. They made a solid offer and I walked away with several games that I was happy with in its place. I've been playing since Atari and there was a great selection of games across platforms as well as manuals from the good old days of Gameboy, you know you threw them out, or your mom did. This place puts GameStop to shame. Also, it looks like they have pinball tournaments and was admiring the
Phoenix Games is a great place to find vintage and new games, game systems, and cool novelty items. Plus, they have an arcade in the back full of classic and new pinball and arcade games. The staff is friendly, helpful, super knowledgeable, and a bit unusual, but always cool. The owner is often there and is really cool and super helpful and knowledgeable, as well. It's a pretty cool place, definitely worth checking out.
Wow! I love visiting retro game shops and this stands out as one of the best. It doesn't have a flashy setup or decked out displays, but it's got variety, plenty of stock and lots of rare / uncommon titles. I saw so much that I loved- instruction manuals, cases, uncommon games and, most importantly, GREAT prices. They beat out what you find on eBay easy. The employees are super nice, too. If I didn't live so far away I'd be visiting every week!
Excellent selection of used games for older systems. Super dope mini arcade available for use seven dollars for one hour, four dollars for half an hour. All of the games were functional and entertaining. New Age machines as well as throwbacks. Threw me all the way back to Nickel City days. Loved it, can't wait to go back.
Currently I go to Phoenix for the pinball but I've bought games here in the past. They have a great selection of new and used games a wide variety of consoles and hand-helds. The staff is very helpful and friendly. With a good selection of about 15 rotating tables plus a good number of retro video games, it's a fun place to spend some time. I've been stopping in occasionally for a long time but playing pinball more regularly brings me to Phoenix more often now. Thanks for being a part of Concord's pinball
Had a really productive day there getting estimates on my games, playing some arcades and made a purchase of Genesis and Dreamcast games..old-school! The service I got from the twin brothers named Aaron and Shawn was quality. I especially enjoyed how they finished each other's sentences. They know one another well. Highly recommend buying, selling and trading here!
Great store found a game I've been looking for for years. The guys in the front were really friendly and helpful as well. The arcade is awesome and a great deal for the variety of games and rare machines I've never seen before.
Friendly staff, amazing free play arcade. Neo Geo line up is legit, best $5 you can spend in Concord
??Great selection of pre-owned games from PONG to Playstation 5, but the real cheat code is the arcade hidden in back. ??
This place is really amazing and there's a good selection of games to choose from the workers are friendly and helpful I got my PlayStation 2 laser replaced for a good price would definitely come here again.
Great place to play old school pinball and arcade games. I just wish this place had two things for customers. They need reasonable size step stools for kids as I only seen one bar stool for my daughter to use unless they had them hidden or you have to request it. The other thing I feel they need is plastic cups so people can put their coins inside the cups because not all people have pockets on their clothes.
Super awesome had a ton of fun with my father playing most of the games there. There are tons of pinball machines and also lots of you're classic games. Digdug , Galaga , E.T.C. Has mortal combat. In the front and main vending area there is lots of games for you're DS GameBoy PlayStation Xbox and other gaming systems. You can buy lots of classical games. There are fluctuations in availability of different specific games.
This place is great. They have so many games across so many systems, several systems, all the peripherals, and a whole bunch of expertise. If you go, give yourself at least an hour more than you think you need. That way you can spend some very reasonably-priced time in their arcade.
The absolute coolest place you can go in Concord. As someone who's lived in this area my whole life, I was never happier to find any other store. Been dropping by periodically since they were back at the old spot, the arcade in the back keeps getting better and better.
Awesome store with games covering all console generations. Amazing arcade area with plenty of pinball and classic arcades to choose from. Very friendly staff. Recommend!
Just took my first trip here and was blown away by the nostalgia! So many amazing games, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who helped me figure out a game I played as kid that I couldn't remember the name of. Will be going back many, MANY times for the arcade in the back
Awesome place. It's a real video game store. Like the ones that existed before gamestop's bought funcoland and the like and destroyed them. Also cool mini arcade ln the back
Nice game store, they have a great selection and I always stop by when I'm in the area. Probably my favorite game store in the Bay Area. Took away a star because I don't like that they charge a fee for using credit cards. Just feels a little cheap/dirty. I'd rather they just raise all their prices by a couple percent rather than tacking on annoying fees. Not a deal breaker, but that's my feedback.
I actually like this game store. It's hard to find retro game stores nowadays let alone one in my area. I've came here numerous times with no issues because they have good a stock on most retro games and consoles. Unfortunately when it comes to trading games into them I would say don't do it. If I wanted to get 1 dollar for a bunch of almost mint Sega games complete in box I would go to gamestop. I was very disappointed with the prices they were trying to give me. If it wasn't for that I would give 4 stars
If you love video games, this store has tons of stuff for you! Staff is super helpful with game recommendations for old systems like the NES all the way to current PS5, Xbox, and Switch! They also probably have the systems to play any of those games as well. Great selection and constantly getting new stuff. Also has a play by the hour full arcade in the back with lots of games and pinball machines. Highly recommend this place. I stop by there regularly!
Dope old school arcade games ! Love this place!
Adorable little store, great selection of products, cute mini arcade in the back, and nice decorations. Employees are friendly and willing to answer questions. Purchased a second hand 2DS from them. Console works GREAT, came with charger, and will be hacked and molded tonight. ?? My only wish is that the console was cleaned just a bit better! There is mystery grime in the cracks of the console. A lot of it was taken out easily by just running a sewing needle through it, but I still wish it was something the
Great little local arcade with a dozen pinball machines that are billed by the hour. Everything seemed in pretty good shape and it felt friendly and clean!
Enjoyed a fun afternoon in the arcade on their awesome machines - and it was an awesome price. They keep the arcade and main room in nice, clean condition. They were very friendly and attentive to my needs. They even offered to clean a couple game discs that I was buying from them - for free! This is a genuine staff/small business who cares about their customers. Thanks guys!
These guys have extensive knowledge of the console-based video gaming scene inclusive of all popular platforms, and even several vintage ones. You have questions; phone or drop by the store and get answers. While you're here, check out the old school arcade in back. One price gets you unlimited play on a per half hour basis.
Had a great experience, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful. Before helping me, I watched as they helped 3 other people and some they had a personal connection with, like old-school, small town vibes. This is a ln awesome game shop!
It's ok. Prices are quite a bit on the higher side but they have a decent selection. Arcades and pinball in the back is the best part. Staff is ok but not really attentive. If you must get a game that day it works, anything else I'd suggest eBay or other places online to save some money.
I'm so glad that this place exists nearby where I live! A very cool store with lots of Video Game collectibles, for the retro gamer. They have games from old 90s systems to present. They also have new games on the backwall as well, limited run and imports. It's great to have a store that has those rare physical new media and the prices are pretty competitive for them. They also have nintendo power magazines and some plushes / statues. My favorite part of the store though is the pinball arcade in the back.
So many games! And such a great little arcade in the back! 8 bucks for an hour of free gameplay? Amazing! We had a great time today... Thank you so much ??????
The store and its arcade are great on a first glance, though most of the games are pretty mid. Still a great place to look for any collectables, as I picked up the Bravely Default collectors edition and a gold cartridge Legend of Zelda copy!
Hidden gem. I don't know much about their used games operations but they have a cool little pinball/classic arcade area in the back with rotating machines. They switched from coin op to prepay for time slots and it's very reasonable for a quick 15 - 30 minutes of fun.
A locally owned game store where you can find a amazing collection of both new and older games and accessories. They also have an arcade in the back with games ready to be played.
I went there to trade some consoles yesterday. They gave me a quote but were honest with me and told me not to sell them because I could get more for them on my own. They could have just taken my stuff and not have been honest with me about the value of what I had! Thank you for being upfront and honest with me. This is why I will continue to do business with them.
The customer service is superb and the employees knowledge is mind blowing. I've yet to have a question I couldn't get an answer for. Game prices are accurate or low based on current market value and most everything can be personally tested before hand, so people can't complain something isn't working. Their arcade is awesome for its size and they even do kids parties. If you want something they have a wait list where they call when they get your desired item in stock. What a Bay Area gem... Thank you for
This place is awesome the mix of a game store and arcade is great. The prices are amazing I'd take this place over GameStop anytime
This place is awesome only 1 of 2 video game stores I know of that still carries PS2 games. It was also fun playing pin ball and vintage video games in the back. They had what I was looking for ( X-Men Legends), the game works excellent. If your game doesn't work so well, you have a 30 day money back guarantee. Just keep the receipt.
My friend showed me this place. I was looking for a Gameboy Advance SP charger and they had it. Plus their selection of games is really solid. They have retro and newer games for the latest gaming consoles. They also sell accessories. I wasn't able to play on the selection of pinball machines they have since my friends and I were in a bit of a hurry but I will next time I'm here.
This place is great, have been here to sell and buy games and consoles. Great employees, very knowledgeable about everything it seems. They have pinball games and arcade games. They also hold fun tournaments that you can play in to win things. They have stuff you usually can't find other places. If you have never been its a must to stop by and take a gander at least.
The owner is so kind and helpful . His employee Shaun is so kind and gives great information on games and x box information etc . He was so helpful and nice to us . My son and I love this store . Plus they have arcade games you can play for a price but so reasonable. Thankful for them and I will keep shopping here ???? my son was so happy to get his GTA 5 and his memory card today . Thank you Shaun Love Amy and dj
Haven't been here in almost a year due to covid. Needed to kill some time so I grabbed my quarters and marched right in. To my surprise they changed up the arcade machines pay and play. Instead of quarters you pay for time. $4 = 30 minutes of play time of any game OR $7 for 1 hour. You can play any pinball or cabinet game they have. You can start a game and decide to play something else or you just play the same game for the duration of your time paid for. Would be nice to have the ability to play a c
Just recently went there, the people there are very knowledgeable and very courteous. Bought a 19 year old game that looks like it was made yesterday. Their selection of consoles is impressive, they even have some that are hard to find. Granted they may be a little pricer in comparison to something you could buy on eBay or GameStop's website, but places like this are getting harder to find and offer preservation to important pieces to video game history. They're worth every penny, offer a guarantee that wh
A fantastic voyage down memory lane. True gamers will love this place. They offer all of the old school (some are VERY old school) gear. The workers are cool and I have even given all of them nicknames, as I'm known to do. I also enjoy their pinball and Neo Geo machines.
A must for any gamer. The owner is a local guy who's been adding to our community for 30+ years. That's as long as I've seen him around. This shop has everything and with great prices. You have to stop in to see the inventory. Brink quarters because they have retro video games to play.
Great place to play pinball. Owner is very friendly and really is fun to talk with about the more obscure details of the machines. And, that isn't all - they have a huge selection of video games too. Games I have never heard of!?? Parking is good.
I really enjoy coming here. Really well organized and great customer service. The pinball machines are top notch. Super glad we have a place like this locally. They're my go to for any retro or modern games. Did I mention they're local too? 5/5
Phoenix game staff are always professional, friendly, and knowledgable. I've been going there for years and it's always the best experience. It's not GameStop. If you need to pawn off some old video game stuff this is the place! Also if you like pinball or arcade machines, they've got tons of em. Couldn't recommend more!
Very polite and professional staff. The machines are in awesome shape and kept clean and maintained. I drove over an hour to see what this place was like and would definitely do it again. For pinball fans, I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
I love coming here to look for retro games. They always test their products and make sure they work. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking to build a retro game collection. The only con(?) I have is they don't tend to have the rarer stuff, but obviously it's first come first serve so I can't really complain too much. ??
Loved this place. Has games, you play by the hour, not per game. Good prices on buybacks.
Huge selection of games from every generation. If you are a video game fan or collector this place will dazzle you. They also do disc resurfacing. I just got a copy of Metal Gear Solid(PS1) resurfaced. It wasn't working properly before but now I am an hour into the game and it works flawlessly. Can't wait to come back.
I wish I could give less than one star, this place is so dishonest and uncustomer-friendly. I wanted a genuine Nintendo 64 controller and since they only had 3rd party controllers, I was put on the wait list. A few weeks later I finally got a call saying they had one. I drive there and buy the controller for about $21 all told. When I get home and removed the plastic to test it out, I find that the Z-button is broken, the D-pad is unresponsive and the joystick had been replaced with a very stiff and uncomfo
Awesome store with lots of history! I went in there for the PINBALL though, and was truly impressed. A dedicated group of players, and an owner that really takes care of the games. They were updated, running beautifully, and i had a blast! Will always pop by whenever im in town!
YES!!! Another amazing video game store that sells retro games and again even modern games. Employees are kind and awesome. They have tons of game which is a plus. This is a place worth checking out.
If you want it, they either have it or are willing to take down your name and number so that you can be the one to get it when it does come in. If you're after old school video games, THIS is where you want to go. The staff is helpful and friendly and the arcade is a blast. Even if you don't find anything you want to buy you will still spend 20 min in there playing pinball.
An awesome, truly awesome place to go to find all your favorite video games from all consoles spanning the last 35 years of gaming from the origin of console gameplay! Tons of throwback fun!!! Great staff! Excellent selection of on site pinball machine classics! Check them out!
THE!!!! BEST!!! Place to get retro games at a fare and reasonable price, every time I head over to Antioch, on my way, I stop by here and search for games on my list. It's friendly environment and blistering collection with the boxes and manuals keep me coming back. I can't tell u how much I enjoy coming here and browsing when ever I head over that way.
It's a cool game store, has a large selection of games and accessories vintage and contemporary. It also has a really cool arcade. It has Ghouls and ghosts and even a Terminator 2 machine among others. It also has a great selection of pinball machines.
If you have a need to play well maintained retro arcade games. This is the place. Oh did I mention they have pinball too? 10 or so machines. All well maintained. Also they sell used video games to complete your collections. Lots of rare stuff. Like a Magnavox gaming system. Amazing and nice people.
I like this place for the pinball machines. A few months ago I got a WII U and was ordering games and accessories online. I called them to see if they had a charger cable and they did! I was looking at 4 different stores only to find Phoenix games had everything and a ton of games at the best prices! They have games for every gaming system and a lot of joysticks, cables etc. Come play some pinball too!
This gem of a store is a great throwback to my childhood. It seems they carry every game ever made since the Atari came out! The staff is very friendly and happy to help you find whatever you're looking for. Theres even a classic pinball arcade in the back. Phoenix Games is a store you must visit for any of your electronic gaming needs!
Hands down the nicest little game store I've ever been to. Clean, organized, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their selection was good and very well taken care of. These guys are the real deal, they know what they're doing!
Got an older Wii system from here still in the box for $10 bucks more. Definitely a bargain! Would've loved to get this system and three games for only $90 back in the day. Lol Got it for a Christmas present for the kids they love it! It was used but still in great condition and no problems whatsoever. Just glad Phoenix games exist! Someone has to have a store with older gen gems and this is definitely the spot to find them.
Shout out to Chris and Shawn for the excellent service. This is THE spot for retro and modern games in the Bay and they have everything from Atari to PS5 and in between. It's worth the drive too if you are on the fence
The staff at Phoenix Games are knowledgeable, helpful and super nice. You can buy new games, old games and trade stuff in for cash or store credit. They also have a good size arcade as well. They regularly hold pinball, arcade and game competitions. If you are looking to have a good time and great experience Phoenix Games is your destination.
Great game store, friendly cool staff and if you trade in with them. They give you reasonable store credit or cash for your games or consoles.
When I walk in I'm transported to a more simple, more peaceful time. They seem to have everything you're looking for, but if somehow they don't they take requests and will keep an eye out for you! Even if they find it and you decide you don't want it, no fee or penalty. All games are tested and cleaned, returns are welcome so long as it falls within the terms and for store credit.
Very professional and the products I've bought work great. I bought a after market ps3 control and did have an issue with it but the manager handled it by allowing me to get another no questions ask. I definitely recommend this place for your go to gaming. Need more places like this ??
Stumbled on this place with my stepdaughter and it's gotta be one of the coolest game stores on the planet....especially love the pinball machines the back! The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the product, the genres of games and what like-type games are out there....Will definitely be back!
great people, good deals, very informative
Awesome game store that has a wide selection of games ranging from retro/old school games to the newest releases. Highly recommend this place. They also have an arcade in the back. Really cool
Phoenix Games is a gem of a used video game store tucked away in Concord. It has a friendly, helpful staff, reasonable prices and a very nice selection of games. Though is out of my way, I'm very willing to make the trip and I try to stop by from time to time to see what classic titles they may have on sale. Easily a five-star location.
Awesome little store filled with a nice selection of current and classic games. There's a section in the back dedicated to a good variety of arcade games and pinball machines. Very cool spot.
I wish I knew his name, but the guy who is usually there is very knowledgeable about older video games and game systems. Always happy to help me and answer any questions I throw at them. Only downside is there is only this one place! I live in Richmond and drive up there just for this store, absolutely love it
They got a lot of cool old games to relive your memories. They also have a disc fixer to fix the game that is worn out of enjoyment. The only downside depends on the way you're coming from. You may have to go down to make a U-turn
I've been going to this establishment for a long time now and it never gets old! They have a HUGE selection from very old games and systems to the newest games and systems. That's not including the pinball machines and old school stand up video games!
These guys are awesome! Chris helped me try and find my husband an old PS2 and was totally up front and honest about the ones I was looking at online compared to the ones they had. Everything we have bought from them for both our Playstation and Playstation 2 has been in PRISTINE condition. This is amazing to me considering how old the games/consoles are! So glad I ran across them.
There is always an amazing assortment of pinball gener to chose from. They carry many preowned games and accessories for your favorite consol. Its my favorite place to visit. I get wrapped up in pinball for hours. You abo play pinball or purchase games. Its a gamers paradise.
Fantastic game store. They have a wide selection of video games and, get this, they have a wide selection of arcade and pinball games in the back you can play, for coins of course. Its also local with only 2 locations entirely. Give it a go.
Visited the store, selection was great for recent and classic games but the most impressive thing about this store is the staff. Very nice people and very informative. Sucks i live so far from them, but will dfinitely be my go to store, i dont mind driving back to concord just to go to this store.
Friendly staff. Great selection. Awesome arcade games. The only reputable shop I could find to replace a save battery in my Pok?mon ruby. Highly recommended
This store is amazing. You can find any games for pretty much any console! Their prices are great and fair. I recommend coming to this store if you are looking for your favorite video games.
When I first came here, I thought, oh it's going to be a thrift store for video games. But, when I walked in, I was completely blown away! The store was awesome! When I found out they're moving, I thought goodbye Phoenix Games forever. But, a few months later, I spotted the Phoenix Games sign while passing by IHOP. After walking in their new store, I was once again blown away! They now have a bigger arcade! So, if you're looking to sell, play, buy, and relive the feelings of retro games, come to Phoenix Gam
staff is great! always in a good mood, great music in the background, wide selection of new pinball to play. hard to find, used or "new" playsyation 1 and playstation 2 games are HERE...
Small store ton of retro games and pinball and arcade games in the back. No bathroom though and you have to literally walk across the street to mcdonalds. Or go into ihop.
One of the best retro games stores i been too. They have games for every system. The guys working there were very helpful too. I will keep coming back to this store!
Their service isn't very good, and most of their games are PlayStation and Microsoft games. I went there looking for GameCube games, but I was actually disappointed. They had games that were bad, and that I've never even seen. Same goes with the dreamcast games. But, they have a cool arcade.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
