Customer Reviews

My name is Romeo and I myself own a video game store in Los Angeles, CA called LA Video Games and I must say as a collector and store owner that this video game store is FILLED WITH SO MUCH VIDEO GAMES. The second I walked into the store I was so blown away by the inventory that was everywhere. They had titles for every system you can think of and lots of it. Attached to it is also an arcade area in which you have to pay to get in but I thought that was really cool. My favorite part is all the random promos

I bought skate 2 and super Mario 64. Both games played well and I got them at a fair price. I've always had a great experience here. I'll definitely be coming back here soon to add more games and consoles to my collection. I haven't had the chance to play the games in the arcade room so I'll be doing that the next time I go.

the arcade was best ever but rips you off if you have tokens left over plus the prices on games in the actual store is way horrible like more than double of pricecharting and sold listings on ebay good luck getting return customers bud bad biz no deals on multiple with cash yikes wake up and smell the coffee what not is killing your kind of stores so change with times we dont want to pay your rent ??????

Cool game store with plenty of titles old and new, employees are always nice and cool, and have an arcade to top it off. Small spot but its dope

Thank you Mike this past Christmas for making time for me on a busy day for trade and buys when I had limited time. My one time visit per year from AZ! Everyone - this is a MUST stop for BEST selections and deals on retro games in Ventura. Proud shopper for about 6 years now every year when I'm visiting family there -Rick from AZ

I'm glad there's more mom and pop game stores popping up and going strong. Neat finds every now and then. I just wish some prices weren't more than the same items elsewhere or trades felt worth it. Their hours are also all over the place. I would come here more than once a year otherwise. Edit: I came back here after a bit of time had passed, and wow their stock has increased. It's claustrophobic for me, but glad they're doing well. They are trying to open another location, so that should fix the space iss

Great place, why bother with any other used game corporate stores in the county, Plus these guys have some cool items that you can't find anywhere else; it takes you back.

Place is a scam. Rather than charging sales tax per transaction they charge taxes per item totaling to an extra $20 in ?taxes? on top of the price gouge. They base all prices $60 more from the highest ebay listing so even though they price a game a day before the owner makes up some mumble jumbo excuse to scan the game into ebay and if theres a new higher price he will charge more. He said he needs to get rid of resellers which is why he prices 10x the price of crappy condition games but is also contradicti

The people working here are pretty rude. We came to get a Wii game, which they had a lot to offer which was great we got what we needed. But our questions we had were answered in a condescending way. We felt dumb for asking any questions lol. We came with our two year old in hopes of going in the arcade to play. But they have the arcade room gated up and guarded so you can't even go in without having to pay $5 each person. The guy working there said we would have to pay for our son too even though he's only

Very great showroom, classics to new age editions. Arcade room rotating and updating constant. Very laid back

When I first came to this store, my impression of it was amazing! All these games and retro things inside one store were truly impressive. I occasionally returned to the store to browse and have items appraised. However, I have decided not to return anymore. Why won't I be returning? Well, I had a Game Boy Color that I wanted to get appraised to see how much I could get for it. So, I went over and asked the store owner how much he would offer me. He looked at it and quoted me $50. Satisfied with the price,

Ive had very pleasant experiences with this store! Their game store?s shelves are packed with tons video game titles, consoles, controllers, and collectibles. Loads of new product also rolls in all the time so their inventory is always fresh. Hidden treasures await! Build out with a ton of classics as well as some newer-gen titles, the arcade is a shining gem! I have been into the arcade a few times and it does seem like the owners are always actively rotating in new games. I heard the classic 4-player Nin

Really poor service and an owner that is not knowledgeable. Bought a controller for my phone from the owner. He knew what phone I had. I asked the salesperson if i could return it and she I could. Of course the controller is not compatible and now I'm stuck with credit I don't want. Lousy experience. I would have thought the owner would have been receptive since he is the one that sold me the wrong controller that was unboxed. Go to GameStop

I requested the price of a gameboy advance cable that was unpriced in a display case. The employee working went on his laptop (I assume to check eBay) and priced the cable at $40. Okay even though that's double than eBay prices, no worries fair enough. I said that I would think about that. Then I asked about an unpriced gameboy advance sp carrying case and was told it cost $10. I agreed and started to talk out my cash when the female employee said hold on one second then went on her laptop and said the pr

This venue was now well organized or viewer friendly. A general admission ticket got you in the gate but not access to see the venues as they took place. Needed special VIP passes to see the skateboarding as it was completely sectioned off and guarded so general admission could not access. A decent view of any event required VIP pass. Not enough places to sit. Families all sitting on the hard ground. Nothing was labeled or announced for direction as what to see and where. Could have done a much better job f

I've popped in here twice since learning of this store. I'm sorry I didn't know of it two years earlier when it opened. I've bought a few games and have been working to get a couple old consoles shipped in from one of their east coast locations. That looks promising. I chatted up Michael quite awhile on my last trip about possible future purchases. He's knowledgeable and friendly. I most definitely plan to continue supporting this rare gem of a store now that I know it's here. I didn't know we had a local r

I had a friend buy a Sega Genesis mini with 300 games on my belhalf. I started playing Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter series games only to find out I can't switch between hi and low kick/punch. I called and asked if I could return it and purchase a regular console with the game cartridges instead. They said no, they don't accept returns. They said they would allow me trade it in. I was thinking okay fair enough, I'll take a small hit on it and get the actual console. Less than half of what I paid for it i

Mom and pop shop that's not eBay or big tech. Get it not, you pay more. It's vintage game stuff what do you expect? If eBay gives you better price then why bother? Oh yeah because you can get it right now and it's local. With that said I enjoy the arcade that's here. ??

My son and dad come here about once a week for the arcade and love it! My son said "The owners are very nice" so that's worthy of a review!

Picked out some sealed games with price tags already , and was at checkout when the cashier wanted to charge me eBay prices instead of the price tag . Be wary when you see games advertised for one price and at checkout they're more expensive .

Seriously such a dope place. I'm in heaven. Nice people

I got scammed from a Amiibo. The Amiibo was Dusty and was used, I could?ve got a used Amiibo on eBay instead. Also they weren't friendly, They had lower energy then Walmart and McDonald?s. Also They were paying us $50 for 150 GB, for a Xbox 360, BUT I FOUND BETTER PRICES ON EBAY!!!. In my opinion? this place was a big ?SCAM?Instead buy it from eBay.

This place is great! The nostalgia factor alone is worth stopping by. They have a lot of very rare games (think super famicom Japanese editions), if you're a collector this is the place for you. Just picked up an nes classic edition and couldn't be happier. I could?ve gotten one online for a bit less expensive, but nothing beats being able to physically hold it and look at it before purchasing. Plus I was able to support a rad local business! They have an arcade next door with a bunch of classic games. I wa

I really love this place a bit small but full of amazing stuff! The arcade is a must see the collection is well kept and maintained. Plenty of classics my favorite is the Sunset Riders and the Ghosts and Goblins cabinets!

Don't even bother trying to sell stuff here, trade in or buying only and I probably wouldn't even do that if I were you. Wonder how many people they've ripped off, typical trash game store...

You're better off purchasing on eBay/online with actual money back returns. The store is disorganized. The return policy is told vaguely to the point to trick people out of money do to no money back. Seems to be a scalper of some items. Owner told me the virus was a hoax while I was in the store. Which I find disrespectful to my friends who lost their relatives. I personally don't recommend the place with the current owner.

Awesome store, totally worth the look I've been to this store at least we'll over 30 times cause it's such a cool place. Has a great selection of current and retro games, hardware, and memorabilia. They also repair console issues and even game scratches, ( except gamecube games) all in all cool store to go to. Even just to take a look at

New owners since the last time I came seem to be doing really cool stuff with the store. Prices were fair and seem to be updated regularly since the guy keeps all his titles meticulously alphabetized. Really large selection with some cool rare stuff.

Absolute nostalgic place to visit. Highly recommend to those that are looking for old school to new school video games. Very retro games for everyone to buy and very nice people. Will definitely come back just to play some of the old arcade games.

Stores like this are the best reason to get all of your classic games despite the ever-changing digital world, It's classic games which brought us to love games in the first place. Michael and Sonya bring nostalgic vibes to Ventura every time I come here....Couldn't ask for more

Fun place, the owner is super friendly and helpful. I had had repairs done here before with great results, but due to covid staff reduction they don't do repairs anymore - HOWEVER at no benefit to himself, the owner told me how to fix my bugging out Switch myself and even treated my son to a free game of Pac-Man so I could listen uninterrupted. The fix worked, too!

I had accidentally purchased a dysfunctional guitar hero guitar off offerup. I asked if they could fix it, but they weren't currently doing repairs due to reduced staff. So i inquired about purchasing a guitar from them. Despite the guitar being overpriced at $70, i bought it. I told him (who i presume is the owner) about my purchasing of the broken guitar and inquired about being able to return it. He mentioned that the store has a 30 day warranty. The blue button on the guitar i purchased wasn't working,

If you're looking for any 1st party Nintendo or other mainstream game, you're better off buying on ebay. For an example I actually just bought Mario super sluggers and Mario strikers charged for Wii on eBay for $32 shipped from 2 different listings. This place has them for $30 EACH plus tax. The prices are too high to buy here and are much cheaper online. I can only recommend if you're looking for games that are worth $15 or less because then the prices for those games are priced fairly. A good guide is Pr

Everything over priced including retro games in bad condition. Buy at your own risk due to the poor return policy, the longer you wait it becomes useless. They also don't accept refunds.

haven't been in a minute, just hope they still do fighting game meetups, i never got the chance to go because of my old job. also to that guy who's friend bought a genesis, that console has 3 buttons, you gotta push the start button to swap from punch to kick... that's the way the games were on the genesis, unless you have a six button controller....

Great place. Tons of games, friendly helpful staff and decently priced! Found my new game store! Also any game store with demo units to try before you buy deserves 5 stars.

This place is the best. It has the best selection of classic games and controllers for all systems. Also they pay nor than anyone else for your old systems. Better than Miro, and the other comic shops in Ventura, better staff better selection and Better prices. Plus you can play old games there

Unbelievable treasure trove of video games, accessories, and consoles. From vintage to recent stuff. I went in on a recommendation that they could change the battery on my GB and GBA cartridges, and the gentleman took care of it on the spot. I'll definitely be back to grab component cables to my old consoles to get them up and running again, too.

Fantastic deals and selections it's the perfect hole in the wall gaming paradise for gamers of all types, they even have arcade machines for sell which takes me back to when my family owned one back in the 90's when I was a kid. Going to get my new systems from them to get the lifetime discounts.

Retro (70's) to now selection of video games. Great staff and product selection. Very knowledgeable too. This place is a gold mine for retro video game systems, CDs, cartridges and accessories. Flashback from the 70's Atari 2600 era to the systems of today.

Best at what they do. Mike and staff are very cool and the atmosphere is laid back. Sporatic hours are the only thing holding this back from 5 stars. They have Robotron the Arcade game. That alone is Stellar !! You must stop by to see for yourself...Just be sure to call first.

Great retro shop! Michael was very friendly. Items were fairly priced and competitive. Highly recommend to stop by if you are into video games and collectibles!

Love this place! Owners are friendly and great selection, lowest prices I've seen around. Awesome local reto video game store so glad your so close!

Reaaally cool place. Nintendo consoles to arcade games. Really awesome and blast from the past. Service was not too friendly so we ended up leaving but theres a lot of great items here

I Go At least once a Week AND LOVE It ?? amazing customer service, All the games I can want, Great Repairs ????, Affordable Prices, Good trade in Values, and have Never been dissatisfied With any items Bought here ,Over all My Favorite Store.

Went there recently and picked up two games. Extremely friendly, and polite I hope they stay in business for a while. They are my go to store for vintage/retro games.

Just stopped by on Christmas Eve to pick up a Wii game for the kids. This place is awesome, they have everything! Atari, original Nintendo, SNES, Xbox. Definitely check this place out.

Customer service is great, and so are the prices! They have everything from Atari to the latest Xbox One games. Pastime Legends is great!

This is the best place to get any game or experience retro arcade gaming. Love Patime Legends gaming. God bless this company can't wait to play there Barcade coming soon.

Was so exited to go to such a place that gives me nostalgia when i went their i picked up a mint xbox 360 which instantly made me happy.Although the price is slightly higher that other places it cant beat going into a local business and trying out the system just like 2003!!

Went here again recently to purchase a OG Xbox unfortunately my TV doesn't have coaxial inputs Michael was nice enough to let me borrow one of his spare televisions while he orders me a coaxial to HDMI converter he also took 10% off of the all the games I purchased since I was buying a system and an additional 4% for using cash every time I come in Michael is willing to do whatever he can to make sure I am a satisfied customer and also the most knowledgeable gamer you will meet and will give the best advice

Very dope arcade. Ive been going there for a while pre covid. Nice staff. I love the cash discount thing they do. The arcade machines are great. I hope the neo geo gets fixed.

There is no place like it in Ventura. Truly a one of a kind gem! Very competitive prices. It's way better than Seth's, past time sells actual working games.

Lots of retro arcades and games lining the shelves and displays, definitely worth a visit to browse around at the history inside if nothing else.

I visited with my wife, no employees bothered to say hi or ask if we needed help finding anything. Prices were high compared to eBay. I won't be returning.

I came to this store the other day looking for some Zelda stuff, but I didn't have any luck. The store seems real cluttered and the lighting wasn't the best. The workers there didn't look very friendly.

Was so excited to see this place open. Super nice couple that owns it. They are so helpful and helped me track down an old game I really wanted. Definitely check this place out.

Hands down one of the best stores for video games in Ventura County. Great prices, customer service, and especially a great selection of games.

Lady on the phone was very short with me and not pleasant.

Nice array of games and collectibles at reasonable prices. Also a fun selection of arcade cabinets. ~Staff is friendly ??

Excellent...Mike takes care of me everytime as they have an excellent choice of games and accessories for every console new or old..or retro..

Great place if you're looking for some affordable games, and they have an awesome arcade in the back area.

Awesome place! 1st time there and was amazed at all the old school and even newer type of games! Definitely gonna go back.

Very knowledgeable staff, they know all there is to know about gaming history, hugely recommend for anybody into "Nerd" hobbies.

Love this place. Best place to get retro games and systems yassss. And also awesome workers that knows their stuff yessss!!!

Had everything I needed for my son who only like PS2 awesome on prices it's inexpensive that's worth the drive from Oxnard.

Place is awesome. All the vintage games you can want. Just go and check it out you will thanks yourself you did.

A one stop shop for any and all of your retro gaming needs. Friendly and knowledgeable staff compliment the retro decoration and array or gaming setups

Best retro store and over all gaming store, they've got modern and classic consoles and games, 10/10

Very dusty! It's a cool spot but is in dire need of a good, deep cleaning.

The owners are really friendly and nice. They have great prices on there games.

great product knowledge! found exactly what I was looking for, thank you! We will be shopping here again and coming to the new arcade once opened!

Very friendly staff and a large selection of games to choose from and quite a bright and open store.

This company puts me on hold never gets back to me I'm on the phone for a long time it hangs up I tried to call back and they send me directly to their mailbox this company has no customer service I haven't even been to the store and I already don't like it

Super helpful staff, I love stopping by the arcade to occasionally remind my husband who the real air hockey champ of the family is.

Absolutely amazing and helpful staff, the owner was super knowledgeable and loves what he does, was able to help me out and I left with a smile. Thanks guys!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
