The two guys working were friendly, and handled questions & transactions quickly. The place was clean & uncluttered. We released 2 adults and 2 small kids, so stuck with the arcade section and they had a blast for the 1.5 hours they got to play around. There was a party going upstairs so that was good to see. Only negatives: the big kids (i.e. husbands) complained about it being hot and said some of the machines were broken. All in all, will definitely go back and bring more munchkins.
We went here with some teenagers for a birthday party. Of course it's the hottest day of the year, and pretty sure the AC was broke, or they don't have AC in the place. It was HOT. Pushing buttons was making me sweat! They had some floor fans that maybe helped. They had ceiling fans that were off and not running. It was pretty miserable. We enjoyed the games. Some of them were out of order. It was a meh experience. 4 stars might be a little high but it's a local business that fills a niche in Rochester. We
Not only is this place an excellent arcade, but the ax throwing is super fun! If you want to feel like an old-time Viking or warrior definitely come down and get your hand on one of these ax handles as soon as you can and get to throwing! There's a slew of fun games they've arranged for you to try out in the ax throwing! The arcade is super fun there's a lot of great relatively modern and old school arcade machines here! I myself found the rock and roll ax (guitar hero) to be a great addition to the authent
Such a fun time at Ironside Axe Club! As first time axe throwers our group of four was a bit nervous. However, our awesome coach Maverick put us all at ease. He clearly explained the technique and even watched us throw to add some tips to improve. His recommendations really made a difference. Everyone was very friendly and it was a blast! We will definitely be back!
Love this place! Lots of old school video arcade consoles with games like Q*Bert, Pac Man/Woman, Galaga, Asteroids, and ten-plus pinball machines (my favorite). You pay one entry fee, and have access to all the arcade games and pinball machines you like, for as long as you like. If there is a problem with anything, you just let the person at the front desk know. They have had a small ice cream shop with Slush Puppies available too, in kind of a middle room, between the front room and the back room. They hav
Our daughter's sixteenth birthday celebration was a resounding success, providing a delightful opportunity for intergenerational bonding through nostalgic games. We plan to repeat this event annually. 5/4/2025.
I had a great time learning how to throw several types of axes in different ways. The staff were experienced and gave helpful tips. The hour of axe throwing was more fun than I expected and I even scored several bulls eyes! The arcade is clean, organized, has fun games, and was very reasonably priced. Made a good family date night.
Great place! Friendly and helpful even with a online mix up.
This is the perfect kid birthday party venue. I'm so glad we had our son's 8th birthday party here! The kids had a blast running around and playing ALL the arcade games for 2 hours. Awesome place, friendly staff, I'd give them 500 stars if I could. :)
We came down from the cities and found this place for a fun activity to do with friends. Very helpful and how they run things is very smooth and easy to understand! We got the option of throwing a variety of different axes/hatchets (one was even a shovel) which made it more fun! Highly recommend!!!
Really entertaining Axe throwing a couple of options between Axes, tomahawks, ninja stars, etc. Jeremy also gave us lots of tips on how to throw each one of them!
We did a bday party , it is great ! Kids loved it , 2h of fun. Lots of various arcade games, including flippers. Good option for parties in a safe and fun environment.
Brought our son and his friend to do axe throwing. Jeremy did a great job instructing the boys on safety and techniques for axe throwing. They had a blast! Highly recommend!
This place is a PERFECT date night! They didn't have walk in axe throwing when we went sadly, but the arcade games were so much fun. Only $13.50/person, all you can play games!!! They also have ice cream too.. Rochester has needed a place like this! Affordable, fun, and a great place to hang out.
We had a blast, a great experience for a first timer. Great instructors and they made everything feel easy
Love the games. I come here with my kids and they have a blast too. Fun spot for an afternoon!
Jeremy was amazing and so patient with all of us. We all had a fantastic time. Thank you Jeremy!!!!
So much fun!! Jeremy and Jordan were amazing coaches and even let us throw some ninja stars. 11/10 recommend!
Awesome service! We booked a private event for 30 (a work group). Jessica took very good care of us before and during our event. Her communication via email was very prompt and detailed reassuring me that we would have a good experience. Upon getting there, she made us feel like we were long time friends and she was helping me host a party. Anyone would feel the same! I can't say thank you enough to her for making my party smooth and enjoyable. I catered from elsewhere, but she was ready to provide all the
This place is awesome we all had a blast!!!! We will definitely be back
We visited on a Sunday afternoon. Friendly staff, decent selection of games. We only played games, no axe throwing. Good value for the money. Sadly 9 of the 48 machines were out of order. Of the 39 working machines, a good handful had some issues (glitchy screens, wonky/borderline broken controls.). I talked to the lady working and she said the owner comes up about once a month to repair machines, maybe we were just unlucky with our timing. I wanted to love it but it was mediocre. The kids in our g
My son went here for his 9th birthday and it was a 5-star experience! We were late to reserve a party table and the staff was super accommodating. Every step of the way they did what was right for us, the customer. My son said it was the best day and his friends all had a great time. Thanks Old School Arcade team!
Great arcade! We went for the axe throwing and were not disappointed. Was worth it just for learning how to throw axes. Very knowledgeable and thorough instructor (Donnie) taught us how to throw 2 handed and 1 handed axes and throwing stars. We had so much fun! We will definitely be doing more axe throwing in the future.
Throwing axes was a lot of fun. Go for the longer time to throw other things, like shovels. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
This was our first time here and there were six of us in our group. The staff was so helpful in showing us what to do and giving us tips. We had a blast and we will definitely do it again!
The staff was responsive, accommodating, and knowledgeable. It was a great outing with a large family group over the holidays.
My daughter had her wedding reception there and everything turned out perfectly. The employees were so very helpful and conscientious! Jessica was an absolute blessing during the setup and take down and her team was brilliant with making sure people stayed safe while throwing axes and made everyone feel confident enough to try!
Great place. Staff was very helpful and nice!
We had our 11 year old's birthday party here, and it was awesome. Being able to bring in our own pizza, cake, and drinks makes this the best place for a birthday party in town, at least from a financial perspective. They've got a party room that's already decorated, and has paper plates, forks, napkins, etc. We showed up with some pizza, a cake, and a cooler, and boom. Party. The kids had a blast playing games (and so did several of the parents). Staff were super friendly and helpful. Could not recommend t
Super fun idea for a group of friends! Employees were so kind as well :)
Held my 9yo's birthday party here. The kids had a blast in the arcade. We didn't do the axe throwing. They have a nice area to reserve with tables and couches and allow food/drink carry in. Super friendly staff. I definitely recommend.
Excellent! Great customer service. Fair price for service rendered. It takes a lot to get 5 stars from me and these are well deserved.
SO. MUCH. FUN! When we got inside we were warmly greeted and walked through the process of axe throwing. Our instructor, Becca, was very helpful in explaining everything and showing us how to do it. We were having a bit of trouble at the start with getting the axes to hit the target right, but she was so helpful and patient and supportive! It only took a moment before we were hitting the targets pretty regularly and having a blast! It was so much fun, and a very inexpensive afternoon activity if I might add
Fun time and enjoyable. Great place or date or party.
Love all the old-school pinball games. Very clean and the axe-throwing host was able to help my friend's form and scores considerably. I forget his name; but one is definitely more knowledgeable as a coach than the other.
How did I just discover this place??? This place is so much fun, the staff and owner absolutely amazing and friendly. I will be returning back here and telling everyone about it.
Great staff .. both the girl in the arcade place and the axe throwing coach are friendly and kind .. The coach will teache you how to throw for beginners .. Don't get frustrated in the first 15 minutes because you are going to get better afterwards .. Highly recommended ..
Jeremy was awesome! So fun
The axe throwing was so much fun. The staff was the best!! Absolutely the best service. And they have a retro arcade games. Awesome place for a group event for anyone. Great business for Rochester! Lots of fun.
Family had a great time. Old school pinball machines for the win.
If you're thinking about throwing a party, you should also throw axes! My boyfriend, his friends, and I had a blast here for his birthday a couple of weeks ago. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly! I will definitely be back.
Love this place! we had a great time!! Our coach was so thorough and all about safety first! good safety and fun atmosphere. Felt very safe in regard to the axes and COVID. Great place to go for a fun event, a date or just to get some stress out. Highly recommend
Went axe throwing for the first time. Will definitely be going back was fantastic experience
Came to Ironside for our first time Sat Feb 19th. Had a blast! The owners were so nice and explained the process well and were there to answer questions and offer help to newbies. So fun! Will totally go back when in Rochester!
If you are looking for a great place to learn how to throw a variety of axes, this is the place to be! Not only that, there is an entire game room, with great classic games, that you don't see anymore. There is also a small cafe, that has ice cream, candy, and beverages. I would highly recommend anyone looking to have a great time, to try out Old School Axe Co. Shout out to Jess and Kyle, they are both very friendly and helpful with showing us how to properly throw the different types of axes and providing
We love this place! Had 2 birthday parties here. 1 company Christmas party. Great games. Great atmosphere. Awesome staff!. Can't say enough about this place! Recommend to all!!
A lot of character in a small place. Axe throwing is very reasonably priced. The instructor is quick and precise, maximizing your time to just have fun.
I was very happy with how wheelchair accessible it is in there. I've been to other arcades where there isn't a very wide aisle between the rows of games and it's difficult for me to squeeze through in my chair, especially when there are lots of people around the cabinets. No such issues here. I was also very happy to learn that the axe throwing area was accessible and I was able to participate in that.
Such a fun and cool atmosphere with a chill vibe!! Highly recommend!
We had a group of us for my wife?s birthday go and throw some axes. Awesome time! The place is so fun. We are planning on going back again.
Very fun. Easy to pick up and really cool
Loved it! My husband and I did this for a date night activity. It was a fun trying something new! Everyone was very helpful in explaining what to do and how to do it. Felt safe throwing the axes. If you haven't tried it, go do it!
Our family loves this place! We enjoy all the games, and the ice cream is a great treat after all the hard work of playing games!
Like stepping back in time to when I was kid, had some of my favorite games. I heard there were other places like this in Iowa, I definitely want to visit those places too
Fun event for a get together. Staff assist newcomers so they are comfortable. Allows you to bring in your own food.
Let us use ninja star, friendly staff, and great place to relieve stress
Fun family night out! Love this place. Great for birthday parties too.
This place was so much fun. Highly recommend. Axe throwing and arcade games, you can't go wrong with either
Great place to have fun. it took me a while to figure out it is within the game store - which is also amazing. Oh, And they also sell NA beer.
We have been here a few times. Always a good time playing some arcade game!
Ice cream, video games and axe throwing? It's like they took my entire childhood and they made it into a reality. The staff was beyond friendly and wonderful and I can't tell you how much fun I had.
It was a fun place to play some old school games and the axe throwing was penominal. The price for axe throwing and unlimited games for 30 bucks makes this worth it
My husband and his friend had fun doing the axe throwing! I loved the arcade! I love all the retro games!!
So much fun! Will definitely go back. They are really packed on the weekends.
Went for a date night. Did not disappoint. Nice staff and good games! Definitely going again!!
Awesome place, great customer service and friendly staff, definitely always fun way to spend some time
Really fun experience
Fun place! Lots of pinball and plenty of video games priced right! Lots of used games for most home systems
Great way to spend the afternoon with kids and grandkids. Highly recommend.
So nice to have an arcade in town. Fun for all ages!

Awesome time. Definitely coming back.
Great place for family and friends.
We had an amazing time :)
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
