Its about $4 for each person to get in and then i think the most ?expensive? games are the newer age ones (maybe 4 of them) that are .50 cents but besides that i think this is an amazing first date spot, a great place for the kiddos?definitely recommend it! My husband and i love to go!
The arcade part is fun for the kids . The service is excellent . Party room & chairs are gross . Needs to be painted , and chairs need cleaning . Other than that the kids really enjoyed going there . But my family will never rent the party room there again .
This arcade game room is actually quite fun. I was more interested in getting the kids out of the house and didn't really care too much about winning the tickets - although that is part of the fun for the kids. The people here are super friendly and there are a lot of games to choose from, all costing 20 cents or less to play. $10 will last you a good portion of time and overall, the kids had fun doing so.
Price is little too much for entry. Lots of new games are always fun with my family. I don't like how hot it gets inside, and you're not allowed to have any drinks on the game floor. I understand the reason
I give this nickel arcade 3.75 out of 5 stars Been here two times my experience was fun customer service was great both times. Been here with all ages of people and it's really good experience. They have some snacks/Waters and sodas to buy. This place is a card place but you could get nickels to play the nickels only games. I say they have games for all ages and then the two times I've been there they upgraded with some machines like a soda drink vending machine/games too. It's not a place that's going to b
Low entry cost for even more low cost fun. They are several one nickel games and they go about to 4 nickels a play. A good balance of games to at and earn tickets on. The attendant working the counter was awesome at handling everyone's request as well as maintenance staff dealing with game malfunctions while we were there. Highly recommend it for families with young kids looking for a fun night out or even a date night for the gamer at heart. We look forward to coming back.
Fun place, arcade games are cheap. Tickets games are not worth it. Expect to spend $20-30 each kids if they doing tickets games. $10 is plenty for arcade. I think it was about $3 entrance fee.
One of our fave places to go hang out spend time as family. Love how this place continues to improve. There's a new added machine and ease of use using a card system to get points. Staff is friendly, the entrance price is affordable, and the games are fun to play even with kids around. Wish they have way to celebrate birthdays
Great fun for everyone. We got a lot of tickets. $2.95 to get in, even if you aren't playing any games. The most a game cost was 20 cents, there was a lot that were just one nickel to play. Definitely recommend.
This is fun place to take the kids in the summer. But seems a bit high. Its $8.25 to SPEND your money there. The employees were friendly and helpful. But mostly the machines were outdated and broken. A couple of them didn't even give tickets. Others just took your money and not operated. Granted it was only nickels but if you on a budget it's gonna hurt. There was a place to throw birthday parties and sit and eat in relative privacy. But no where else. As a mom, leaving my kids there wasn't a option because
It's cool. Selection is okay - nothing Dave and Buster's level, but it's dirt cheap to go here, so its fair. Some games were busted.
Wonderful place for fun enjoyment. Very clean. Employees were nice and friendly.
Lots of fun cheap games and decent prizes. The staff are friendly and quick to resolve any problems. Great place to take the kids to kill some time. The "in the groove" game is an absolute classic and hard to find now a days.
First time coming here and I wanted to bring my little sister to an arcade because she's never been to one and every kid should at least experience going to one at least once because making fun childhood memories are the greatest feeling ever. We were immediately greeted by the worker at the front desk and they were really nice and attentive. They answered all of our questions whenever we needed help with something. My little sister was amazed by all the games (although some were broken/out of order because
What a wonderful place to take the kids. We spent $20 on nickels and 3 kids and 2 adults had a great time playing for over an hour.
The games were mostly broken, or not calibrated. The carpet smells bad. Not a lot to choose from. Not worth it. Joystix DT is better.
With arcades costing over a dollar a game, it's nice to enjoy a location that is fun and cheap. While there is entrance fee, after that, the games are either 5 cents or 15 cents. For over 2 hours, I paid less than $10, including the entrance fee.
it was good! the employees were kinda weird, honestly. a pinball game was closed and another one two pinballs were stuck and the flipper didnt work. most games were closed down, but thats okay.
The entry cost is minimal and the time spent was priceless.
I dont mind paying the entry fee. As long as the games works. I spent 3 hours there and more then half of the games dont work. The one's that do eat your coins.very old games. Yes they are cheap but at what cost.. waste of time for me and my kids.
Personally I enjoyed it, the workers are very nice. It's easier to play since we got the cards but they're are some games that are free play but it's mainly the ones in the back. They do their best to fix the broken games. Would recommend to go just wish they added food there
Awesome place. I have been going there for years. The games are also fun and enjoyable, but more vending machines would be nice over all 4 stars
It used to be fun and have a lot of great prizes. Sadly the prize has gone cheaper. But it's understandable. The variety of game machines is ok. But some games machines aren't working well. Can't complain. It's still a great place to take the kiddles there.
My son had a blast on his birthday.. I was hooked on the claw game that win big ROLLS of tickets..
Fun place to visit. Bring your family or friends.
It's the only nickel arcade we have in merced, so I'll have to put up with it. But compared to other nickel arcades I've been to in other cities and states, it's a total rip off. The prizes are so "expensive" compare to how hard it is to earn tickets. for 650 tickets (which will probably cost you about $15 worth of nickels, unless you get really lucky on a game, not including the admission fee) you can get ONE of those small arm squeeze popper toys. And that's it. It's really pathetic because 650 tickets is
Great place to bring your kids lots of fun for cheap most games are 5-15 cents each
This was a great place to have family fun. There was a $3 per person cover charge but the arcade games are a nickel. Some are up to three nickels per game. I saw that some people were having a birthday party! I wish we had something like this where I am from. I would have my son's birthday party there all the time. We had fun as a family and it is entertaining.
Staff is friendly, young kids have a good time. Good for small-medium parties for kids ages 5-10.
Heck ya! This place is awesome! For me there is a whole lot of nostalgia playing games that were super popular from my childhood. These days though it's more about fun for my little ones and there is plenty for them do there. There's coin rides and claw games. Plenty of games to earn tickets for toys. The staff there is super nice and friendly. They were so kind to our little one and even gave her a little bonus on her tickets to get the toy she wanted. Not only that but I can play galaga for free!
A great way to spend an affordable afternoon with your family. The back wall is all free games. A smart idea for a business and it was ran good enough. It was clean enough and my son's had a great time. They are 11 and 7. Quality time. We had a blast.
Oh wow is right!! You pay 4 dollars to get in and then most games are a nickel, some are even free!! They have a good selection of games, we all found several we enjoyed...I had to show my sister who was the queen of skeeball!! It was refreshing to find a place where there was reality in advertising!
Always a very fun place to go. For $10 you can have fun for a couple of hours. Whether you are a child or an adult it is so much fun. The staff is so very friendly and amazing...we will definitely be back
My kids loved it!! I'm only giving it 4 stars because... at least 5 games were broken, but they still enjoyed themselves. Also I noticed a few for sale signs on some of the games and display cases, but that has nothing to do with my rating. I have no clue if they are closing up or what's going on. All in all my kids did have fun even if some games didnt work. It's a great place to let kids run free and it's not expensive so that's always a plus.
Always a blast for the kiddos here. The guy working tonight has so much patience with the kiddos. Fun entertainment and it does not cost too much. Most games are a nickel very few are more than that. From claw machines to good old school stand up machines it's a fun time for all ages.
Had lots of fun here yesterday! It also brought back childhood memories because they used to have one in my hometown. This deserves 5 stars because of the two awesome workers checking people in and helping with prizes. I'd also like to note that the equipment at this arcade is exactly what I expected. Games are 5 cents to 20 cents to play, and not all the machines work. I've always thought of Oh Wow Nickel Arcade as a 2nd hand arcade, so the expectation is the same of a thrift store: stuff may not be bran
I love the nickel arcade! I have been coming here basically my whole life. The games are fun, the prizes are fun. All around good environment. I know it looks a little run down, but don't judge a book by its cover. It awesome and affordable. They also have free play games in the back if you're not interested in spending for games.
Nice retro arcade in a very hidden area. The games are very cheap compared to places like round 1 so you can actually play everything and not be -100$. Wish they had more retro fighting games though. But very much worth it if you want to be reminded of the 80s!
Good arcade. I had lots of fun.
We went on a Friday night and surprisingly it was super busy, which made the experience more fun with more people in the arcade. It's not helpful when you're trying to cash out your tickets, but playing games it is. They need a better system for when people cash in on their tickets.
Very fun place. Family fun for all ages. Games range between 5 and 15 cent a play. 20 bucks among 3 kids and 2 adults lasted about an hour and a half. Brought the little 10 month old with me and ppl are very pleasant. Didn't have to worry about her being ran over. Lol. The prizes are so/so but I mean that's the same with any aracde. If you wanna treat your kids on a tight budget... this place is for you!
Some if the good games were broken. But the ones that were broken last time i went were fixed this time. So they do have maintenence on their machines. Very clean place kind of small but it does the job. And only for 5 cents a game?? I handed everybody 20 dollars to play with and I ended up getting 10 dollars back from everyone and we were there for 2 and a half hours. Before we left.
Fun for the whole family, they even have free games to play and plenty of old school ones too! Staff was very nice and helpful and even interacted with the customers, I will definitely take the grandkids and kids back again... good job guys keep up the good work because we're coming back for that red dragon! 90 points! Thanks
All of my children love this place, from age 5-17. We always have a great time for less than 20 bucks!! Definitely the hidden gem of Merced
I've come here with my niece and nephew a few times and I would say this is a decent place. There are good things and bad things about this arcade. The good: The machines are pretty cheap (about 10-15 cents per go). Free machines are available. There is a room specifically for hosting birthday parties. The bad: There is an entrance fee. Prizes are a little limited in terms of what you can get when compared to other arcades. Not much in terms of machine variety or quantity. In conclusion, it's a good place
How could I NOT give this place five stars?! This place has been in my childhood ever since I found out about which was when I was seven years old back in 2007. And now even in my age (18) I still come back here with my little brothers and show them how to actually play a game. For anyone looking for a place to have fun with he family or to embarrass a date by showing off your skills on gaming, this place is IT. And also if you get enough tickets, you could get a prize that is worth way more than a couple o
My son likes it here and so do I but in recent times they are slipping, they don't restock the prizes, it's warm in there a lot of games were out of order and it looks dirty. With Covid they should be wiping down more. Not that I'm blaming the arcade, but my son and I ended up sick afterwards.
We all know that Oh Wow Nickel Arcade is for the kids...and the kid in all adults...?? A wrist band is 3.95$ and then it's all nickels from there out... Lol... Good family fun.... Glad to see the business up and running again. Covid has taken it's toll on everyone.... Take the family and enjoy the day! Enjoy!!????
Went there twice, took my 12 yr old granddaughter, the first time was better, used nickels, second time, switched to card system, so unless you use all money put on card, you HAVE TO GO BACK. I won't go back untill one of my grandkids come to visit, it's 20 + miles from where I live, but my granddaughter was visiting me & found it on line, wanted to go. She had been to NICKEL NICKEL in SoCal. Also, have to spend ALOT to get enough tickets on card to get anything more then cheap penny toys, but we both had f
I want to give a shout out to the employees there. They have excellent customer service skills and are great with the kids. Thanks for a fun Sunday!
Ticketmaster was super friendly and helpful. Everyone had a good time. Nice, big play areas for kids to play and wonder. Lots of arcade games. My son was happy with the prizes.
The price is just amazing every person must pay under $3.00 to get in except for toddlers and infants. Then games are just a nickel! There are some games in the very back that are free to play. Some games are 3 nickels but most are just one. There are not to many people working on the floor and it's a bit hard to find someone but when you do they are friendly and helpful. There's no outside food allowed but they have a seating area in the front where you can finish it. There are stools to sit a while at you
Today was hooter, then hell in there, no a/c at all. If you are planning to go check back in winter, you will lose some weight in there.
My family loves it here, it's affordable and fun and the staff are always incredibly helpful and sweet ??
Loved this place. Wish they still had a nickel arcade near me. My girlfriend and I stopped by on our way home from yosemite area. We had a blast. Only reason for 4 stars was quite a few games were out of order and had to get maintainence guy a couple times for machines that didn't dispsense tickets. There was a whole back wall of free play games too though. Some were kind of messed up but others worked well. Really had a great time and it's a pretty cheap source of fun.
In all honesty, I go here pretty often just because I'm bored. However that doesn't mean I don't think this place could be better. About a quarter of the games weren't working last time I went and I was super upset about the Mortal Kombat 4 cabinet's player 2 not working because it was the first time that my friends from out of town visited the arcade with me and i wanted to play with them. The candy selection you get from the ticket counter is lame, there's only Laffy Taffys and Warheads, and sometimes tho
My boys love it here. They just upgraded their machines,no longer need tokens or tickets all is on a reloadable card. So much more convenient.
Cool place for kids. Only place around with old school games. People have to undestand they're old mechanical games not digital they break down. Would give five stars but they pull a scam where they don't give change. If you pay the $4 to get in with a $20 they will give u $16 in nickels as change so you use them in the arcade. So pretty much they should just say we keep your change.
This is honestly one of the best nick arcades I've ever been to. All the games worked except like 5 on them. They at least had a out of order sign posted. The employees where on it when we said a machine ate our coin. Will definitely be coming back with my children.
Went last night with my fiance and we had a blast. Fun date night place :) it's awesome that the games are so cheap. The guy behind the prize counter went above our expectations. He was friendly and made our night :)
It's a fun place if you're hanging out in Merced however Games are very dated clawq machines are rigged. And don't bother winning the ticket rolls you're not allowed to transfer them to youre next visit. Customer service is good.
It's so much fun,for a minimum amount of money. Worth it for the grandkids. People who work here are nice and very helpful when we lose our money, very watchful if we aren't getting our tickets will come and see what's wrong and fix it. Oh so much fun
Manager here, Ken, is a really great guy. For the money, this is a fun little hole in the wall to hang out with your kids. $15-20 for myself and one child will get you a few HOURS of fun. Old school arcade games mixed with the typical gimmicky cheesy money sinks, combined with the feel of an old boardwalk arcade, it's fun.
inexpensive nice place for a little ones to go have some fun I think it can be a little cleaner but overall my four-year-old loves it
We had a blast. My husband, daughter and I we really enjoyed the day there. Employees were very pleasant and friendly.
When three 14 year old teenagers don't answer their cell phones because it's so loud inside the establishment they cannot hear them. A concerned parent calls to be reassured they are there indeed there, just to give a quick look and I am told they are too busy to bother and to come check for myself. Last I looked those where three paying customers still. With the incidences rising of our teenage girls and young women being followed in stores and parking lots as well as being drugged in yogurt shops in the M
Employees were super nice and the kids had a lot of fun!
It's a fun, inexpensive place to take the kids even when its packed on the weekends. I just wish they had some better prizes! ???????
This is a good place to take your family especially if you have little ones unless you're a little one yourself at heart me and my girlfriend love going over here with her daughter it's a fun place to hang out with your family and it's not expensive
Super cheap and great for kids a few of the games didn't work but I am still giving 5 stars because of everything else. The workers are also super nice and helpful.
We go all the time. If we're bored, and or broke, we can always scrape up enough nickels for the arcade and it's local. Plenty of parking and most of all there's a friendly helpful staff and free games available to play and possibly purchase!!! We love it
Had so much fun for my nieces birthday my kids had a blast! The only thing was as it got closer to closing time there were a lot of people acting strange out side and around the parking lot and entrance to the arcade!
Pay the $2 per person cover charge, then only spend a few dollars for a whole afternoon of fun. Super affordable, and cute prizes for your tickets. Outranks Chucky Cheese arcade by a mile!
It's a great place for families to have fun??
It's a nice little place that's worth checking out. Would give it 5 stars but a number of machines were broken last time I visited. Still, there's a variety of games one can play.
It would be so much better if the carpet was taken out... It smells in there of BO? It's a good place for b-day parties as long as you make sure to have hand sanitizer...it has been there for a long time...I kno they make enough money to upkeep it. This is the only other place in Merced besides the ????arcade on the mall and that's if it's still there.?? For young kids to have some kind of fun besides playing video games at home. I didn't go into the arcade area just to the party section. I almost didn't w
Can't be beat for entertaining kids (and most adults). Modest entry fee $3 and then all the games run from. 5 to 20 cents. Kids redeem tickets for prizes
I just love coming here and hanging with the family and just overall taking a break and relaxing they have a great number of games and keep it really fun. All the staff that ive encountered has been really friendly and just great??
A place to go and have fun with the family with out spending an arm and a leg. Recently went with my daughter and husband $20 each after entrance fee lasted us hours.
Great place for the kids. Affordable, able to spend hours without spending a fortune. Staff are friendly. Most all arcade are in working conditions. Recommend!
Love this place. Go there every time I come to town, they keep the machines working. Lots of fun.
Cheap and fun for the kids. Machine are sometimes broken but staff is friendly and will help you with any issues. Great amount of games and even free retro arcade games at the back.
I loved nickel city as a kid and was bummed when they closed down. I moved to merced just over two months ago and saw that this arcade was right across the street! Of course I had to check it out with the kiddos. They had a blast and I enjoyed being an arcade kid again lol. Will definitely be coming here more often.
You can come to this place, spend hours here, and only use 10 dollars. Each of the arcade games cost nickles, all the machines were working, and the prizes were fun to get.
Kids had a great time but they are not observing any type of social distancing and not requiring masks my family didn't stay long someone will get sick because of how they are operating not returning for the safety of my children
My nephew and I had a blast, plenty of fun when we visit the Nickel Arcade and its kept up well with clean restrooms too, employees are always helpful and friendly????
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
