Nice selection of classic's. A couple VERY rare. Many had LCD's and a few had bad joysticks or buttons. 2 machines (of those I tried) had little to no volume. Only one machine was completely down tho, out of about 50. Not bad. A little TLC and this place would rank 5 stars. I'll attach some pics of a few random machines. The price of admission brought this up 1 star. Honestly they should double that price. Would definitely visit again.
The Nickel-A-Play is my favorite arcade around! They have the best selection of classic video and redemption games around, and most of them are maintained very well. The employees were extremely friendly and even offered game credit when their Internet went down (which affects about half of the games). This is a kind of rare generosity that makes places like this so unique and an excellent place for an affordable day out.
My kids love coming to this place and I think the staff are fantastic. They just want children to have a fun time. Best value for a kid-friendly arcade in the state - no question about it.
The best. Wont go to any other arcade if I can help it! What a special place. $4 for unlimited play on 70+ retro games! Are you kidding me? I didn't think places like this existed anymore. I'm sure they could charge more, but listen?a spirit of fun and generosity are super vintage! Also, the lady working at the front counter (Wednesday mid-day) was super friendly and had great vibes. She was helpful and fun to talk to. As for games, personal faves were DDR, NBA Jam, and the little caveman game with the pi
11/11/22- A nice little arcade. It was about $4 to get in per person and then you can put money on a players card. The base fee is fine because they have a lot of old school arcade games that are free to play in the back. You could spend hours on just those. The pay machines are mostly the ones where you can win tickets for prizes. For $25 we got 2 adults in, 3 hours of play (but we could have stayed longer playing the free games, and we were able to win nearly 3,000 tickets. The tickets you get are based o
Great deal for an afternoon of fun. It is an older place with lots of used/tired arcade games but for the price it was a great deal. Free games in the back and ticket earning games in the front for a nickel+. We went after hospital appts and before dinner. Kids had a great time. Not really room for a stroller fyi
Authentic arcade that has classic games. The staff is amazing. It's good for kids and adults. There's a free section that you can enjoy. It's very affordable and a pure arcade experience
I think I could have spent a lot more time and money here - but my wallet would not have been happy! The games are all pretty fun, and the staff were friendly, especially Jamie! She was very nice and fun to talk to, and explained the deals and events to us. We spent a couple hours there and barely even checked the whole place out, there were a bunch of different games and a bunch of free games as well (after you pay admission) and was definitely worth it!
Great 90s arcade experience! After you pay the cover, you have access to lots of free games. And you can purchase "nickels" on a game card to play and win "tickets" that you can turn in for prizes.
I always take my kiddos. I have 6 and they range in age from 7 to 16. We always have a blast and in certain days there are perks. Like every Thursday you get 1000 tickets with every purchased entry. We visit often and don't plan on letting up anytime soon. Newer games wouldn't hurt
If you grew up in Aurora Co you remember what Nickel A Play was, but you should come again to see what it is. Bring your kids and make new memories playing pinball, skeeball, and 5-cent or free video games! They also have giant Fruit Ninja, and Claw games with amazing prizes, and best of all it's affordable! Bring your family and have fun again!! I'm glad I did, And you will be too.
A lot of the games are old school, & to a point that's fun. However, for free, a number of games can be downloaded on a device, with better graphics. 1 out of 2 are games I can't even remember, however once in a blue ?? moon it's worth a "black in the day" visit, or a "white in the day" visit. It's good to see kid-parent combos "having a good time".
So we came in 1 hours before close and they acted like it was the end of the world that we came in its myself and my two kids I'm a single working mother and this is when we can come. It was 10 47 and in the middle of us playing she just without warning turns off all power to all games everything. It was really rude and unprofessional. We where in the middle of playing games and just spent 10 tokens for 3 games each and didn't get to finish or get our tickets for playing. I'm really appalled by this. A simp
First time here with my grandson, and it was surprisingly really fun. It was 2fer Tuesday, so it was $3.95, and for $20, we played for 2 hours straight. The attendants were funny and helpful.
It was very nostalgic to come here. I grew up going to different locations and was shocked that one still existed. Loved the old games and some of the newer ones. My teen enjoyed himself and so did I.
The 80s called? they want their arcade back. There is a cover charge. Free and unlimited game play on some games is cool but a lot are defective. Place is kinda dirty. My kids did enjoy it and want to go back.
This place isn't Dave and Busters. Everything is old. Lots of stuff doesn't work, but it is fun and affordable and that is hard to find these days. $25 got the whole family in plus $10 (200ish credits) in game game play and about a solid hour of fun. It's rough around the edges for sure, but also perfectly suitable for an afternoon out for the family.
This place is great. A little old school but its fine because all of the older games are free to play. You can load up a card to play the carnival type games to win tickets and stuff and its a good time. There is a cover charge but it's very reasonable since there are a lot of free games to play and you could literally spend hours just playing those if you want. Worth it if you have kids.
It was super fun! It's pretty easy to get a jackpot with certain games! I would 100% come here again! The prizes are pretty good and the staff is super nice! It was much cleaner than I would expect
Absolutely coolest arcade setup ever! $3.95 cover charge, 70 free arcade games and a ton of ticket winning games for super cheap! We spent 3 hours playing and didn't want to leave!
Small venue, but great price for the games-some required more nickels than others, some were on ?free play? mode. A couple of the skee ball machines were broken. No time limits on machines so some kids hogged games that dispensed more tickets per play. Great place for a kids birthday party with a little party section in the back. *edit* As pointed out by the owner, the tickets are worth 2 tickets, so something to let your kid know when they ask. On a side note, the owners sell the games if you really want t
Really fun for $4 a kid! It was fun to play a bunch of games for free, and the kids all left with prizes. We'll definitely be back next Friday!
The best place to game in Aurora. Neat prizes and the best customer service from a very nice woman that took care of us if we had any issues!
Fun place for kids and adults. Free games older but still free. Games and take nickels not quarters .. birthday deals and 4 dollar charge at the door to exceptions. .games paid for dispense tickets used to purchase trinkets and toys.
I lived how immersive that games are, the whole experience was wonderful. The staff were nice and respectful, and many games are even free play, offering fun for everybody.
Great place to go and have a blast lots to do and plenty of fun have a blast playing free games and paid for games.
Fantastic deal and sooo much fun. There are 40+ free games and lots of redemption games for 1 nickel. Seriously, just 5 cents. We had a blast and we're planning on returning with friends.
Fun place to play arcade games. I just wish there was not an entry fee but with the games being free/a nickel I guess I understand the need for an entry fee to stay open.
Very nostalgic, affordable fun. Helpful staff and cheap snacks/drinks from the vending machines. Lots of claw machines which my partner loves, and lots of free arcade video games which I grew up begging my parents for a dollar to play. Very fun and our new arcade spot, Dave and Busters and such is just too outrageously expensive. Happy to support this local business instead.
It was fun to play the vintage video games. And the are free. Have a choice of pizza or sandwiches for birthdays.. The sandwichs were small but just right for kids. Chips were included and drinks. Also cupcakes. The retro games were fun. They also had some that cost the nickle. It was kinda crazy. You don't want to leave them alone. Cost to get in is under $5. It really wasn't bad. Nice change from chuckie cheese where everything cost.
Great place to spend 30$ and play for hours. The free 2 play games on the back are fun.
I wrote a lengthy review for this place and who knows why it doesn't go through but anyways I absolutely loved my time here being a first time visitor and I loved how I was greeted upon entering and I came because I've been searching a DDR machine that functions perfect and when I played supernova I wasn't disappointed. I love how the staff was paying attention to me playing DDR and complimented my skill haha. ?. I'm definetly coming back. Kudos to the management and staff.
Hadn't been in a few years. Nickle-A-Play really upped their game and prizes! The digital play cards were a great change from the nickle baggies. All the new machines were definitely fun, and the old school arcade games were awesome! We also felt like we got a lot of our money. They had great deals and a very friendly staff! The bottom line is we had a blast, and kids can't wait to go back!
We had our sons birthday party here, because he wanted to invite every kid in his class. They were amazing. I can't say enough wonderful things about all of it. Would highly recommend
First time coming to this place. My daughter had a great time and us too! HIGHLY recommended! The staff was also super friendly with kids and respectful! We're definitely coming back! Brought me back to my childhood and my daughter had a blast!
Small, but great place to play games for the kids. We have come here for years, and never disappointed in the family fun. Had a b-day party for my 8 yr old grandson last Sunday, and it was wonderful. Separate area in back for party & guests. A nice array of free games, plus fun claw and point based games. The staff is always friendly and amazingly helpful here, and extra patient with the kids picking their prizes.
Not sure who had more fun the grand kids or me. The music was great and the games was just like the games I used to play at the arcades
This place is awesome! For only twenty bucks, me, my husband, and my 9 yr old son we able to play all sorts of games for about two hours. Then my son got to pick out a bunch of stuff with all the tickets he won. It was a great way to enjoy some family time. Plus if you go on Thursday you get 1000 tickets just for walking in the door, my son was stoked!
I really miss a true arcade.. and this just hit the spot. It is small and dated (the dated part could he said about me too!) but the value is amazing. Free games, weekday incentives and discounts, and the prize booth has some great unique items! Would love to come back when we are in the area again. [Owners] -Thanks for putting up not operational signs! #1pet peeve of mine. -Amazing value.. hope it can stay. -Loosen up the mechanical claw prizes, I play these often and I could tell just by looking ther
A Nostalgic Gem with Great Prices If you're looking for a trip down memory lane, this old arcade is the perfect spot. Having been around for decades, it offers a delightful blend of nostalgia and fun. The moment you step inside, you're transported back to a simpler time, surrounded by classic arcade games that have stood the test of time. Love coming here!
Decent and low cost option to have fun. Majority of their arcades are free (i.e. just pay entrance). Each day has some special deals so be sure to ask and take advantage of those deals (it is included with the entrance which is very nominal). If you wish to play other games, you can get a card and the games don't cost much...some are just for a nickel. They also have a party area to book at a reasonable rate. Much fun!
I am 33 now and in have always loved nickle-a-play! Since I was about 5yrs old! Never gets old.
I absolutely love this place. The staff is usually friendly but it depends on who is working. But I do love this place. Cheap fun for kids and right by a kfc.
Came here to drop off our child for a birthday party and my wife and I ended up staying the full time. Entrance is 3.95 a person and games are generally a nickel or two. Most of the games are actually free. Games are very old but it brought back good memories, definitely somewhere to go again for a very low price especially when compared to a Boondocks.
Just got done doom-blasting AERO FIGHTER at Nickel-A-Play. A great island of arcade classics to be found here in No-coast Aurora.
Tons of claw machines and loads free vintage games lots of fun for a date night or
Fun, hole-in-the-wall arcade! Cheap entertainment, lots of games to choose from. We played House of the Dead to completion. Perfect way to spend an afternoon!
Place has a bunch of free games. Of course you have to pay the entry fee, but that's only a few $$$. All of the ticket games are a nickel. You can get a bag from the cashier or use the coin machine with cash. Our kids love going there. We spent hours there the last couple visits.
So fun! You pay a flat fee to enter which includes most of the video games in the back. For nickels, you can play ski ball and other arcade games. Some cost several nickels (30 cents for guitar hero, 50 cents for DDR) , but still super affordable. We spent a great time here to end our trip.
I LOVE this place. It's such a cute and affordable arcade and the staff have always been super kind and friendly. Dillon helped me out a lot today and I'm very satisfied every time I go there! The night staff have always been super chill and I love the atmosphere a lot ?
This was incredible. So cheap, with so many options. We played for hours for less than $10 a piece.
Great place to bring the kids. Finally a place that isn't expensive (.05 cents a game) some games take multiple.05 cents and some free! The kids loved it here. Also great that it's easy for kids to win tickets and the prizes are good as well.
Just a great arcade with a bunch of free play after admission. Staff were friendly and happy and a good amount of space and variety of games. One of the best full arcades in Denver
The cost of entry is very nice, at under 4 dollars per person, and tons of free games, it's super fun. There are also a bunch of games with the lights disabled, making this more epileptic friendly than other arcades I have been to. If you plan to be more than an hour or so, bring cash for food and drinks, as the vending machines are broken, so you'd have to pay 10$ as the minimum to buy the drinks rather than the 80 cents it actually costs. Aside from that, I had a great time, and would reccomend many times
This place is absolutely fantastic! Brought my eight and eleven year old nephews...they loved it as much as I did. Anyone who writes a bad review, just go to Dave and Busters and drop three figures on their broken games. Everyone that works there is awesome. I live in Chicago and now have something fun to do any day of the week.
Great place always have a great time there .family friendly environment.
Great place for the family! Clerk was the best tonite! Very kind and awesome.
We've been blown away by how great this place is. Last year, we scheduled my son's birthday at Nickel a Play, but had to cancel day of when he woke up with a fever. They were SO reasonble, offered to refund our deposit or reschedule the party. This year, we had no qualms about scheduling his party there again and it was awesome. They were so kind and helpful to us and everyone had a really good time. It's clearly owned and operated by genuinely good humans, and we will definetly spend money here again.
What a great spot. Games are fun and affordable. We especially like the penny pushers and the free games in the back (blitz, galaga, and NBA jam specifically). Staff is super friendly too.
Please Please Please support this place, we need more arcades like this!!! I took my kids here and it was a few bucks to get in and they mostly played the free games. We also went on a Friday and got 1000 bonus tickets so they were able to get some fun toys on the way out I grew up going to arcades just like this one and played all of my favorite games from the 90s NBA Jam, Simpsons, Primal Rage This place is amazing!!!! And it cost me less than $20
Been here about 3 times. 10 and 6 year old both love it (as do I- they have free games and old school games like Tetris and Pac Man and also ski ball and other ticket games). The people who work here just genuinely seem like they want to have a place for kids to have fun. It's our favorite arcade in the Denver area by far. Did a birthday party here for 10 year old and the kids (and adults) had a ton of fun.
So much fun! You can play all day with your entrance fee (very reasonable) on the free games or add money to have access to even more games. They have different deals each day. 100% recommend!
Good times and a lot of free classic games from Street Fighter II Turbo and Tetris to Crazy Taxi and the 4player Simpsons arcade game! ??Price for admission comes with a daily bonus!! Thursdays and Fridays get 1,000 tickets with price of admission!!! ??
One of my favorite places to bring my loved ones! When I lived closer I would go in for the Ticket Thursdays often because that was such a great deal
I can not say enough good things about this place! Starting with the staff which was absolutely amazing. Louis ( i might have spelled wrong) was the absolute best. We had a birthday party and did the table rental. They checked on us the entire time made sure r everyone and everything was taken care of. They literally took the stress off of us and we just enjoyed the party! We will without a doubt be going back and having more partys there! Thank you all so much for your hard work it did not go unseen!
Inviorment of positive endure. 10/10 recomend. Super easy in $$$. Very cute and home town like, small. ?? Did feel slightly rushed at prize counter with my birthday cousin along later in the night, but over all highkey recommend! Very fun. ????
Visited last month and was very disappointed, this used to be our favorite place to go when we lived in Colorado so while visiting we took the kiddos with and was surprised at how expensive everything was including the games. Yeah the card idea is good but the prices of the games are crazy. The staff were wonderful when we went but it was very disappointing and overly priced.
Me and my child were at nickel a play, and my daughter asked to see all of the prizes and the manager just started yelling at her telling her she couldn't put her dirty fingers in her prizes. When all my daughter was asking was to see the prizes so she could see if they had her favorite animal. I just thought it was really rude and I wouldn't recommend it.
Many machines out of order. Attendant told me I could recycle my card, but didn't tell me I needed it to cash out on prizes thus I wasn't able to cash in on any of my 8,600 tickets. Attendants couldn't open the box with my card in it to scan it, and did nothing to rectify the mistake. Place was better when it had nickels and tickets.
Very fun! Great prices! The free games were a great upside ?? Please fix the other machines I would spend even more time in there with the kid ??
It's a fun place for the kiddos to get some of their energy out, but I found that a lot of the games didn't work. At least my son got to meet my baby brother, his uncle!
We stopped in here tonight for my birthday. It is clean and very very affordable. We will definitely be back as we don't live very far from here. Even my toddler loved it because they have a small carousel. Half of the games are even free. 10/10 experience.
Me an my daughter had so much fun .
This was amazing! Definitely will be taking my kids here a lot more and it's right next to my kids'dental place. The staff was super nice and explained everything as soon as we walked in. It's so much less expensive than Chuck E cheese but just as entertaining if not more. My kids had a blast and they are five and six. I will be recommending this to everybody I talk to
Bang for your buck ?. Friendly staff aka jamie ?. That is where it ends ?. Hope you had a recent hep b shot. This place is aurora grimey. Just look at how the management has responded to negative comments. Super unprofessional. Just like k mart and JC penny this place will soon fade into the past.
As a child of 80's arcades, I need to commend the owners for somehow not only capturing the magic and feel of my childhood but also for bringing it into the modern century for me to bring my family to. What looks like a deceptively small space from the outside is actually an expertly well stocked and large game area with more than ample opportunities to win tickets and spend an entire day. The prize area is routinely updated with new items and current pop culture toys, meaning the kiddos will never leave
I love this place. Went here as a kid and now get to take mines. Had so.much fun
Great way to spend a few hours. Inexpensive, fun, great staff and tons of free games. (Small cover charge for entry)
Recently visited (Thursday Dec 5th, 6pm-8ish pm) and was treated incredibly well by the staff on duty that night. One worker was named Quinton and their manager, (I'm so sorry, I forgot his name but I believe it started with a K. He looked to be early-mid twenties) were very friendly, helpful, and understanding in general. I was on a date and we were using my pre-used play card so we had a few more credits and tickets to work with even after purchasing about 2$more of credits. We had a blast and actually us
So the entry fee was under $5/ person which was awesome. Half of the arcade was free and the other half you needed to pay with nickles. Very unique. My children and I have never been to a place like this. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I only gave 4 stars because some of the games didn't work properly but I also feel like that's every arcade. The next time we visit Colorado we will definitely try to stop again!
Pretty decent nickel arcade! $3.95 to get in and then a lot of games can be played for free. Games where you win prizes and tickets cost between 1-10 nickels. Racing, fighting, shooting and older arcade games are free. Pinball, guitar hero, dance revolution and some others games are also pay to play. $20 for 3 of us and spent 3 hours there, could have stayed a few more if we had time. Tons of prizes to cash in for those hard earned tickets!
Stopped here because we were on the north end of town and had so much fun! Definitely coming back!
The place was pretty cool. It was kinda dirty and had a couple of machines that didn't work but over my cousins and brothers had a good time! I love the workers they are very polite and when a prize you earned broke, they would give you a new one. They were bringing back the old 80's games and they were really fun. Overall I had a good time and had a fun time.
Best arcade to go too.. half the games i loved to play are all FREE . AND PRIZES ARE SOO EASY TO WIN . NOTHING IS OFF LIMITS
Best place to take your kids! Or even a nostalgic adult. Tons of free games and other games are only a nickel! Staff is always friendly and helpful if you lose a coin or missing tickets. My kids love this place and it's a cheap fun day for everyone! Specials everyday of the week as well. I highly recommend going here at least once!
Such a good, inexpensive way to have fun on a Friday night. You could really go anytime, but it's a great way to spend your weekend. If you go on select days (M-Th), they have a special deal going on for each day. You could honestly go here with only $10, and you could still have the time of your life! The staff is also super friendly. That's always a bonus!
I love this place it's so fun and is super cheap for hours of fun. A couple of the Machines were broken but it was still very fun. We all enjoy the broken candy machine that gives a bunch of candy. We have gone many times and alway look forward to it. Thank you so much for entertaining me and my family for hours each time!!!
This was years ago I was passing through with my lady from California to ohio and stopped by this beauty. Definitely a fun arcade to go to, paid admission then bought $20 in nickels. My lady had to pull me out because they were closing. We gave our tickets to some kids that were there because we wouldnt be passing through again during business hours. I was going to use the tickets anyways I just wanted more nickels to play. Brings back amazing memories of going to arcades.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
