This place was perfect for my son's birthday! We were able to rent out the location for him and his friends to be able to play Fortnite and Roblox together. Both kids and parents were in awe of the endless and nostalgic collection of games. Our host, Jon, was sensational at helping getting everyone set up and playing! We hope to have many more events here and can't recommend this place enough to anyone else who may be considering a one of a kind birthday party experience! So glad to have a place like this i

Man this place is the best! They literally have any video game you could think of new or old on any gaming system as well as PC! I love the retro room setup they have, it brings back so many memories of my childhood. The owner John is always so helpful and knowledgeable. Out of any place in ABQ my kids always want to come here, plus the prices are great! Highly recommend!

This place is great. Great vibes, great assortment of games/consoles/events, and super cool staff. Definitely make plans to check this place out and support your local artists/stores!

My partner and I stumbled upon this on accident and spent a hour playing guitar hero and left 4 dead. The staff is super friendly and literally gave us 20min extra cause one of the computers had to update, super nice business. I hope they stay around for a long time.

Great gaming lounge with a wonderful staff. Tons of consoles and computers to play. Cost is totally reasonable. Great place to get out of the house, for dates, and just to hang out with the family.

Fantastic place to chill out for a few hours, me and family loved it. I was geeking out over the retro room and the fact that they have menstrual products in the bathroom. Awesome place!!

Albuquerque is so blessed to have this place. The retro room is reminiscent of my childhood and gives me a sweet sense of nostalgia. The community here is amazing and the owners are absolutely wonderful people. My son absolutely adores this place. As someone who really would love to buy every game on the planet, but it's hesitant to do so, it's a GREAT place for me to test drive games as they have just about everything available. The atmosphere is perfect. I absolutely love this place.

Honestly me and my boys had a blast. Pricing was totally reasonable and snack pricing too. We only had an hour but honestly wish we could have stayed more. Super friendly staff that was super helpful and kind. Great evening.

I think I've found nerd heaven! Next gen consoles! Retro games going back to the weird vcr based console! Board games! Rock band! This place has everything, and very reasonable priced refreshments, Even more affordable than gas station! Cafe drinks! Perfect for parties, or hanging out alone and playing some Apex. Seriously, I cannot praise this place enough

The vibe, the game selection, the owner?all immaculate! What an amazing and special place. I highly encourage everyone to support this local business. The rates are extremely accessible and Jon?s friendly demeanor makes even someone with minimal experience in gaming (me) feel welcomed and excited. Even small things such as free menstrual products in the bathroom makes for such a positive environment. What a gem!

The owner John is awesome! Great place to go for games and fun! I will be going back!

An incredible experience for any gamer from any generation! Offering food, drinks, and the like. They have an impeccable selection of games, and the best customer service you could ask for.

So great. I go with my girlfriend so often as we both grew up around old consoles and it's so cheap, making it perfect for anyone to go, gamer or not. Totally recommend this place to anyone who wants fun. Definitely one of the greatest places and things here in New Mexico for sure??

My coworkers and I had a private party of ~17 people. The space was perfect and we had an amazing time! Everyone was able to choose something they liked. Ris and Jon were super accommodating and easy to work with. Visit soon!

Stopped in during our family vacation in Albuquerque, after visiting Gamers Anonymous. Instantly greeted when walking in and was told we could look around with no problems. My kids and I started playing some of their classic consoles and played for maybe 15 minutes. I wasn't paying attention when walking in and didn't know we had to pay by the hour. Apologized to the employee at the front and he said it was no problem that he would've let us know that we needed to pay had we played for much longer, definit

Awesome staff with a huge selection of games and plenty of knowledge on everything in the center. They also have this super cool retro room that will bring you right back to the 80's! Highly recommended.

The owner Jon Sakura is a true wealth of knowledge in regards to anything having to do with the video game industry. He truly fosters a welcoming and positive culture. One of the best hidden gems of Albuquerque.

The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and the environment is absolutely amazing. Very reasonably priced and the PCs work great! The retro room is the cherry on top.

Always feel welcome and accepted by the majority of the community. Jon, the owner is great at creating a safe atmosphere for casual and hardcore gamers to be themselves. I have always been treated with respect by the employees and patrons alike and have been able to make lasting relationships in this business. So far my experience has always been positive. I highly suggest getting plugged into the community. The only downside that I have experienced is a lack of higiene with some of the male patrons. Howeve

Jon couldn't be any nicer! This guy really goes above and beyond for his patrons!! My kids have never experienced a gaming center and this one is super teen and kid friendly!! The back area gives you a nostalgic experience of late 80s and 90s gaming. There are state of the art PCs. Jon helped my kids set up their profiles and gave them the run down of how the center works and helped if they wanted to switch platforms. Super personable!! A plus is that there is a dominos pizza close by in case they get hungr

Coolest gaming lounge in town, and the owner is probably one of the most hospitable, down to earth guys you'll ever interact with. You can tell he really cares about providing a great experience. Plenty of PC setups, console gaming areas, and a reaaaally cool back room that looks like a bedroom straight out of the 80?s with retro consoles and dated decoration. There's also VR, community monthly challenges, and Smash Bros tournaments on Tuesday?s!

NGP is the perfect place to bring my kids for a little gaming session away from the house. The setup is fantastic, they have everything you could want, including an absolutely brilliant retro living room for lots of fun photo ops or just to relive your youth! As a person who plays every system at home, having the ability to try games out before buying them is huge. This is especially true of the PC realm, where it's rare that you can ever try a game before you buy it. NGP also has the added convenience of

This place is a fusion between a museum, play center and community hub. Actually will add IQ points ?? if you love gaming. It did for me, at least. ?? Fun place to go every month. They also host some events regularly.

This is the best gaming cafe this city has ever had. The the store owner and staff are helpful and kind. They have gaming PCs, VR, current gen consoles, and even tons of retro consoles and accessories. This pandemic is long from over, but places like this make it worth getting up in the morning.

This place (and the owner) is awesome, for real.

Awesome place to hang out and try out some games by the hour. Neat retro TV in the back, friendly owner, great prices and vibe, check it out!

Awesome place! Lots of variety! Knowledgeable and fun staff that are very interactive! The retro room is the 80s-90s kid?s nostalgic dream! I will be continuing to frequent now that I have been.

This is the greatest gaming lounge I have ever had the pleasure of going to. It's a delight of retro games and imagery, combined with amazing customer service as well as an immaculate atmosphere.

Awesome place! Had my wife?s birthday party in the Rockband section with her friends and we all had a stellar time! We try to come back once a week!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.

Are rhythm games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, rhythm games in arcades are a vibrant hit in 2025! Titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania deliver high-energy fun, blending music, movement, and precision. Modern machines boast vivid displays, booming sound systems, and diverse song libraries, from J-pop to EDM. They challenge reflexes and rhythm, with competitive leaderboards and tournaments fostering a lively community. Arcade dance floors are regularly packed, proving rhythm games’ immersive, physical thrill keeps them a standout in today’s gaming scene.
