Nerd Alert Carriage Crossing

Nerd Alert Carriage Crossing

Reviews Summary

Overwhelmingly positive with most reviews praising the nostalgic, family-friendly atmosphere, excellent game selection (especially retro arcade cabinets and pinball), and friendly owners/staff. Many highlight it as a perfect spot for birthday parties or group events. A few minor complaints include unexpected closures and pinball machines requiring extra payment. The strong 80s/90s nostalgia, affordable pricing ($10 all-day play), and unique charm make it a beloved local gem, often preferred over larger chains. Multiple reviewers mention returning frequently with kids or friends. The only 1-star review cites disappointment over incorrect operating hours.

So much fun! Plenty of space for our small group to play around. The lovely humans that worked there were absolutely amazing. I loved the atmosphere so much. We will definitely be back in the future.

I love this place so much ! The staff is so Amazing !!! The games took me back in time to my childhood. I didn't want to leave ..I did not realize how long i was there.. for almost 2 hours. This spot will have you back in time for hours ! If you haven't been there, then hurry up and get there ! Well, call first on the weekends or check their Facebook page before coming by on the weekends to make sure there's no scheduled parties. Trust !! you are going to have a great time ! Thank You for Amazing time, N

We had an AWESOME experience celebrating our friend's birthday! Nerd Alert is one of those places where our kids could hang out all day, and their ages range from 9 to 13. The owner was on site and so kind and accommodating. A fantastic spot to spend the afternoon or host a special event. Both of my boys came to me and said, "BETTER THAN DAVE & BUSTERS!" Now, THAT'S a glowing review!!

Rented out the arcade for a youth group. Loved the games and the atmosphere, took me back to my childhood when we had an arcade in the Mall of Memphis. At first the kids complained because "no one wants to play old games" but by the end of the 2 hour stay none wanted to leave. We absolutely will book again.

What a fun day we had! My bestie and I took our kids to nerd alert today and for about $10 each they got to play for hours! The owner was super nice and accommodating. She set us up a little table where we could play board games while our kids played video games and we all had a blast! I cannot recommend this place enough! And what a fun little area to take your family on an outing. There's a pizza place next door, Great American Cookie company across the way as well as Barnes& Noble and lots of shopping. A

A slighly small but still fun throwback to retro gaming. Really enjoyed the aracde cabinets. While not exactly the same, Nerd Alert helps fill the void the Black Lodge and Rec Room left open for those who remember those spots.

Lots of old school arcade games with unlimited play for a few bucks! It's a fun place to spend an afternoon. I only wish it was a larger more open area. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is really cool though. There are also some goodies that are fun to look at or purchase.

I'm giving Nerd Alert 4 stars. I would give it 5 if the pinball machines were included in the entry price. There are a variety of games for older kids, but younger kids love pinball, and I wasn't prepared to spend additional money on top of the cost of admittance. This is not my usual place to visit. My husband and sons convinced me to come with them, and I actually had some fun. Definitely a blast from the past.

Made the trip across town on a rainy day to come hangout here for my son?s 14th bday, any other bday plans were wiped out by the weather. We loved this place when they had a location in Cooper Young, spent many of bdays and rainy days and plan ol hangout days there. Was broken hearted when they left! I mentioned to the kid at the counter that we made the hike in the rain for his bday and was a little disappointed to find they didn't do anything special for bday kids, but oh well. When I also mentioned to th

This is the kind of place we need in Collierville, especially Carriage Crossing. The variety of cabinets as well as some custom ones is so cool, and for someone who loves fighting games it is pure heaven, the music they play there is a nice addition to the 80s/90s vibe. I will absolutely come here as often as I can with some friends too.

Disappointing. The only arcade place around. It's $12/pp which wouldn't be bad if there were more games. They have pinball which was a plus until we realized they charge a dollar a game to play pinball on top of the entry fee. That explains why no one was playing pinball. Small place, seemed like for small children or small kids bday parties as they have two tables and seemed to have food but idk where the food came from. Music was way too loud and u couldn't hear each other talk or the actual games. For t

We had our son?s birthday party there and we couldn't have been happier. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the place is perfect for any event! I think the adults had more fun than the kiddos!

My children and their friends love it. Great for birthday party's too.

We brought our kids here multiple times, and have never had a bad experience. Everyone enjoys all of the games and the atmosphere is so fun! The staff is very friendly. It's our favorite rainy day activity!

I can't say enough about how much I enjoy these people. I have been supporting their business since it first opened in Cooper Young, my oldest has had 2 birthday parties with them and we love going to see Dunk Santa during Christmas. I'm so glad they moved to collierville so they are closer to me. ??

We have brought our kids here for game nights, and its always a blast. Kids and adults have a great time, and the owners really make it a fun atmosphere. Strongly recommend for game night, date night, or just a tuesday afternoon!

The atmosphere is perfect and the fighting games are excellent ones, They even have a little shop and the turbo arcade the villain from reck it Ralph

This is one of the greatest places! Tons of fun, tons of nostalgia for adults and new fun for the kids. Awesome for birthday parties, and an amazing staff of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. Absolutely a must-visit!!!

Me and my significant other went here for a date night. It was really fun and a very charming place to he in. We both love retro gaming. Tetris and Super Mario Bros. VS. were probably our favorites.

This is a great place for birthday parties, date nights and rainy summer afternoons!

I have been here once before about a year ago (which now I remember why its been soo long..) and nothing really has changed except the new pinball machines. Which, I thought was a great improvement, until I find out that it is not included in the original admission. I find that absolutely ridiculous, already paying 24 dollars for one kid and adult, then you are going to charge a dollar per game for pinball? What a joke ?? My daughter and I were highly disappointed, we left after an hour of being there. I g

Wonderful selection of arcade games, local/family owned.! Great selection of novelty items including sodas and candy.!! Lots of retro stuff too.! Staff is always friendly and they are a great place to have birthday parties or other small get togethers.!!

Walking into Nerd Alert was like walking back into the 80s! We spent a couple hours living the nostalgia! It was awesome!

If you're considering visiting this place.... DO IT!! I had the pleasure of having my son's 9th birthday party at Nerd Alert this evening and we all had a BALL! It's literally FUN FOR ALL ages!! The level of nostalgia that all of the adults felt was through the roof...from Galaga to Pac Man to Street Fighter, and even Super Mario! The staff went over and above to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves and had everything that we needed! We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later!

All the games on free play, atmosphere is so awesome! Kids had a blast!

We had a fabulous time! This family owned business is so hospitable. They truly go above & beyond. Excellent value for the service provided! Highly recommend for your next event 10/10

Remember going to the mall and spending hours in the arcade on the hottest new games? Wasting all of your allowance? This place brings back all those warm memories for me! 80s and 90s at its finest! Great family environment! Owners are top notch and providing you with his own personal cabinets to play on! Highly recommend!

I love this place so much. The Ms PAC MAN cabinet is my favorite. They have all sorts of cabinets and pinball machines, a GameCube with Smash Bros, TVs with video tapes from 90s/00s, etc. The only thing missing is a Dance Dance Revolution cabinet. I would genuinely help find/fund this, and then probably pay it off via entry fee with all the times I'd come in for it, lol. Their gift shop of knick knacks is so cool, too. I get their little jewelry charms and make bracelets out of them. - Jenn

Amazing spot. This arcade exudes a nostalgic charm with its dimly lit space filled with the mesmerizing glow of vintage game cabinets. The air is thick with the scent of aging electronics, and the symphony of beeps and electronic melodies creates a lively ambiance. Worn-out joystick handles tell tales of countless gaming sessions, while the neon lights of the arcade sign flicker with a timeless allure. A must visit when in Carriage Crossing!!!!!!

Awesome place! Went for my kid?s friend?s birthday party and had a blast! I'm definitely going to be coming to this place again.

I went there for the first time today to play pinball. First time to play Deadpool and really enjoyed it. I heard that Jaws pinball is coming soon. Can't wait to go back again tomorrow!

Took my boys here and we all really enjoyed it. I am very happy we have a place like this in Collierville. We will be back!

Went to take my son for his birthday on 1/1 at 5pm and Closed! Even looked up the time of operations before hand and hours say 12pm-9pm. Very disappointing and my son cried.

Great folks Al around. Very caring, attentive and fair. Always a good time between the games and events!

Great place and nice employees! We loved the old school games available :)

One important thing about showing up to Nerd Alert is that you need to bring your friends and family, have some cherry coke, eat pretzels, and learn how to chew snap in the air when you beat your friends at Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat! Tigerrrrr uppercut ????

Great for young and old! Celebrated our 10yr olds bday party there. Great thanks me!!

Always have a fun time here and always have found quirky and nerdy fun things for holiday and birthday presents!!

Amazing place and great owners!!

Had hours of fun playing all of the fighting games.

My grandsons and I throughly enjoyed our 1st visit SO much that we returned with our visiting cousins two weeks later! Not just guys kids, adults enjoy these throw-back video and pinball games! Great place to have your kids' next birthday party too. There's a separate room for that! Come play all day for only $10 per child!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
