Grosse Point's best hidden gem, Mum's is an excellent place to play pinball. Open to the public on Wednesday's for freeplay pinball at $8, is a true steal! The owner, Tim, is extremely friendly, welcoming, and will teach you the ropes of Pinball. You are allowed to bring food in, and often times on Wednesdays, there's a food truck parked outside the arcade. I absolutely love this place!
Very chill place to check out! They're generally only open on Wednesday nights to the public, and occasional Friday nights for pinball tournaments. Otherwise they host private parties and have a fun selection of games, and a nice patio to enjoy as well as their nursery next door.
Hosted our 7 year old's birthday party at Mum's today and he told us afterwards it was "THE BEST party ever!". Tim was great to work with, accommodating, and super patient with a mass of 1st graders who wanted to know all about his slot cars. The kids were happy and busy the entire time and I know we'll be back for one of their play nights soon!
I had a super fun time with my young kids, the owner is obviously focused on making this a family friendly environment. Between myself and my kids we had an awesome time for a mere $24 over the course of 2 hours. I hope Mums makes a strong run deep into the future. First class place.
It's super fun! Tim the owner is great! We are about to have my sons birthday there again.
We had our company holiday party here in early January. We ordered food to bring in from outside. The team really enjoyed playing pinball and slot cars. But the real magic was hearing the owner, Tim, talk about pinball both from a strategic perspective and a historical one!
This place is a super cool addition to this area. In a town known more for its ?old money? legacy residence, I see this place as a total breath of fresh air. And it seems to be more that just a ?business? the owner seems to have a real passion for what he does. Go here, do this, it's a total blast!
Had the best experience for my son?s 8th birthday. Such a special place- we can't wait to go back.
Great fun for all ages! The owner is very nice and welcoming.
Awesome spot, spectacular machines, and phenomenal ownership make this place perfect for any party!
Great place and great atmosphere, the owner was very nice and friendly
Fantastic neighborhood arcade !
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
