Wanna go somewhere that you can find every type of human and just let go of reality? I hope it is like that for you and yours?. We look for any and every reason to return now. This a fun dive bar. They had $5 Margaritas for Cinco de Mayo! As of right now, they don't serve food, but they may be changing soon. For a fun atmosphere and great drinks, I highly recommend.

Was on vacation from Tampa && went out for a Saturday night - definitely a vibe. Karaoke was amazing - drinks and shots on point! The staff was fun! Thank youuuu for showing this big city girl you can be lit in a small town on a Saturday!!

We had a blast over the Christmas to new year brake. The bartender helped accommodate my health issue so that we could enjoy the karaoke. (Minor adjustments to the lights) The crowd was friendly and fun. The sound system was pretty good. The karaoke host does a good job. The bartender didn't make us wait for drinks. A group of friends and I stumbled upon Mudbugs during an overnight trip to Gulf Shores. Everything?except the $5 cover?was typical dive bar fare. We ordered shots of Espolon before sitting in the outdoors area out back. The bartender and bar patrons were friendly, and karaoke appeared to be a solid draw. For a quick adventure in Gulf Shores, Mudbugs served its purpose well.

The food was great, but the bartender/server was not very competent. She first of all messed up our order and then said she had to charge us for it which wasn't really a huge deal. Then she was just all over the place in general. When she was making drinks she was just opening the cap and pouring the liquor straight into the mixing cup. No regulators. No counting.

Honestly it's fine but a $5 cover is kind of ridiculous. They are not offering anything special. $10 just for us to walk in the door and it was completely dead when we arrived. We went for karaoke and to shoot some pool. I asked for a drink menu and they said they didn't have one. We had 4 beers and an amaretto sour and it was $31 without tip which was very reasonable. Amaretto sour was in a tiny plastic cup. I will say the crowd was very nice folks. Prob wouldn't go back due to unnecessary cover.

Wife and I stopped in for a few drinks on Sat afternoon. This a great local establishment!! We really enjoyed our time and our drinks! The bartender was friendly and efficient, keep up the great work!!!!!

Mud bugs is AMAZING!! We had the best time celebrating my friend?s bachelorette trip. They were extremely proactive to the one creepy man there. They immediately kicked him out and called the cops. WE LOVE MUD BUGS, especially Larry!!! ??

My husband and I visited Gulf Shores for the first time. All the other local bars close between 9 and 10. So we came across Mud Bugs open til 3am. Karaoke inside. Live music out. Friendly bar crew. Eclectic atmosphere. Great little dive bar.

I didn't eat, so I can't comment on food. The service was awful. I never seen a bartender so high. She could barely pour a drink much less make change. I feel bad for the owner. He/she has to be losing money in every possible way.

So I haven't tried the food but I'm positive it was made with the love, came here the past two night and all the staff was so amazing and I ended up losing my wallet, then went home and they contacted me same night to let me know they found it. Would recommend 20/10, will be coming back <3

Has a cover charge for 21+ even when it's empty. The female bartender was clearly hammered and couldn't remember any of our names or anything we ordered and was stumbling around the bar. We asked multiple times how much doubles were and she said $7.25, and when I tried to pay for five doubles it ended up being $50. Great dive bar in gulf shores. It was recently remodeled, and whatever "smell" people talk about is gone. Had a blast and we will be back!

Dive Bar indeed. Drinks are cheap, Staff is pretty suspect and every surface in the place has a film and petina that you just can't recreate without years of bare minimum maintenance & upkeep... Nice decore and great location, can't wait to go back!

Pretty typical dive bar, though pretty deserted on a late Sunday afternoon. Beer was cheap...no Cover change as others have mentioned, definitely not a place I'd pay to go to, but would stop back by anytime if no cover.

We didn't realize this was a gay bar when we picked it, but the regulars were welcoming and we had a good time. The staff are great, warm atmosphere and strong drinks. We'll definitely be recommending this to our LGBTQ friends.

Our go-to spot on our vacation this week. We always try to find karaoke places when we travel.... and this place (supposedly) does Karaoke nightly. The 3 nights in a row we went, they did have it. It was a blast. It was a different crowd every night but always seemed to liven up after about 10pm. We purchased a number 2 and fried crab claws. The number 2 was enough for 3-4 people. The number 2 was incredibly overcooked. The shrimp stuck to the shell, which caused us to loose a lot of meat and it took forever to try and get the shell off. Staff were very friendly and the crab claws were great.

This is where it's happening, there's karaoke and all kinds of fun happening right now. You should see the atmosphere, everyone is having a great time. There are games and even a nice pool table. There are several bars, and you can get what you want almost immediately. No restrictions, just fun fun fun fun!

Hole in the wall local place. Probably crazy with young people in season, It was easy between Xmas and New Years. If you have a favorite dive in your town you'd like it here. A few games, karaoke sometimes, the obligatory wild woman, close to everything, and good prices. Friendly staff. Probably not for the faint of heart.

I'm not one to hop on google and write bad reviews, but we had the WORST experience here. There's a cover charge just to get in. Should have known that it would be a crappy time when we walked in and the whole place smelled like sewage. The toilets in the bathroom were literally bubbling. Every surface is sticky. Most disappointing spot in Gulf Shores!! I hope the owners are truly the ones that have instructed their bartenders to not serve people with disabilities and service dogs. Because for what i could tell it's already a struggling bar but not surprised if they treat everyone the same as they treated us! So when it fails and it will i hope its due to the choice of the owner and not their employees making terrible choices. Excellent local vibe with incredible service, specials and portions. Inside, there are spaces for pool, darts, karaoke and sitting. Outside there's a cool spot for mingling that goes to the water. The decor is unique and welcoming asst all times of the day and night.

I'm a huge fan of quaint dive bars, and this is one of the best! Definitely the best in gulf shores! The staff is amazing, prices are great, and I've always had a great time. Pretty sure the bartenders are just there I hang out with each other and can't be bothered to take a drink order. Smelled like stale beer and cat piss inside. Over priced and had really odd creepy vibe by some of a patrons. Steer clear and watch your drinks.

This place is awesome! The service exceeds expectations! Beer is super cold and they are always improving the atmosphere!

I enjoyed being here. The scene was one of the best bars I had been to as in they have two bars and a place for kareoke. I did not feel suffocated. The only complaint I had was that the bathroom smelled like a mudbug.

When we arrived at 9:30pm, it was quiet. So we sat outside and listed to the solo artist. He was excellent and well worth the $5 cover charge. As the night went on, karaoke got started and the DJ was outstanding, quickly taking names and songs and keeping everything moving. The crowd was the best. A great mix of people, mostly younger crowd but also some older people too. It is a dive bar, and is dirty, with smelly bathrooms, but the bar staff keeps the drinks flowing, and the karaoke is a blast.

Don't believe the previous reviews on the bloody Mary drinks. They suck. They no longer serve food and the tables were filmy. Staff wasn't over friendly but we were there about 1pm dead. We had 1 bad drink then left. Won't be back.Also wife said bathroom stunk and there was a big dead cockroach in there.

I had a really great time doing Karaoke and the drinks were decent. People were friendly enough and I enjoyed my visit overall. The main issue was that they charged a cover charge to get into what was an empty bar and they don't even have a drink menu to look at. It isn't worth the cover when there are so many better venues that don't have one.

I love mudbugs, it's definitely where we stop anytime we go to gulf shores. We love the lively atmosphere with wonderful attentive staff. (Sam is the best btw!!) Karaoke is always entertaining as well! We've never had a bad time!!

Going to Gulf Shores is always a blast but finding Mudbugs made my trip last time I went. Amazing bartenders and all around great time! Sam was a blast to have as a bartender, she always had a solid dad joke or pun on hand to make you laugh!

Came here with my girlfriend, who is 22. She handed her ID to the bouncer, and the guy scanned it over front and back before saying he had to go check it, and to wait at the door for him. He came back a minute later claiming her real ID was FAKE and that it would be confiscated. We arrived with a group and had already paid the cover charge when we realized the only thing worse than the attitude of the servers was the drinks. The bathroom filling the area with a sewage smell was a bonus.

This place is awesome!! I love the eclectic decorations, there is a huge skeleton on the roof with a jager heart! The staff treated me like family from the get go. Skye, Adam, Josh, Yoshi and Sam were all really cool and friendly. Another guy BJ, from Arkansas was All the drinks I had were good, I enjoyed playing the bowling game and they even cheered me on when I sang karaoke! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

I feel like I'm not the best person to come to when it comes to wanting to get a good opinion on a bar but here we go lol The staff was very nice! Worst bar ever been too. Waitresses all standing around never did get waited on!!! It was 10pm new years eve and was just decorating. Charged $5.00 COVER to go up to the bar and get your own drink because they are to busy talking and on their phones to wait on customers. No food either. Just a bad place all together.

This place was HORRIBLE like we walked in and sat down and the people never acknowledged our existence the inside was just plain creepy we said heyy to the person at the counter and smiled and he just looked at us and went back to talking to other people after like 15 minutes of sitting there we ended up just getting up and leaving. It's a pet peeve of mine when you go somewhere for karaoke and they do not start in time. We called ahead and they told us karaoke starts at 9pm So we got there at 8:30 When we get there, we paid $5 cover charge to get into an empty dive bar. The drinks were good. A couple bartenders seemed really down to earth. The other two seemed like they were on drugs. We were careful who to order drinks from. Karaoke seemed fun. This is one I struggled with on how to rate it... Because honestly mudbugs is a very fun place. With two outdoor areas with live music, a pool table, dance floor, and karaoke there's something for everyone. The music was great no matter which area you're at and the drinks are fabulous. But This is not a restaurant. At all. There is no grill. Even the vending machine just has cigarettes. And according to them there hasn't been food there in three years..

I was only going there for karaoke night and realized it was $5 cash to even get in. Why on earth does it cost $5 to get in to a low life bar? I would expect that from from a high tourist spot but not from some hole in the wall. Please explain this to me. I would not recommend this spot to anyone.
