Mission Control Bar Arcade

Mission Control Bar Arcade

Reviews Summary

This arcade bar offers a fun, nostalgic experience with a great selection of pinball and retro games, plus drinks and food. Most reviewers praise the atmosphere, friendly staff, and trivia/karaoke nights. However, some note broken or poorly maintained arcade games, especially non-pinball machines. The venue can get loud, and accessibility (no elevator) is a concern. While most ratings are high, a few complaints mention safety issues and lack of maintenance. Overall, it’s a popular spot for gaming and socializing, but improvements in game upkeep and customer service would enhance the experience.

Customer Reviews

Came here for lunch so did not get the whole experience with the bar and arcade upstairs. The pizza was very good. I was impressed. The crust was right, the sauce was good, the cheese was real mozzarella so be careful cause when it comes hot it easily sliding off the sauce and can burn you pretty good. I was not impressed with the Birria Taco. Half of it was greasy and spongy. The rest of the meat was okay. I would have liked more consume but it wasn't dry or anything. They offer 3 types of salsa and they w

We came in late but my impression was good looking cocktails, good selection of games, and good dj playing r&b and old songs from 90-2000?s

I've been going to MC since 2020. I really enjoy Friday or Saturday nights with Dj Ceaze. No cover charge. Mix drinks are prices between $12 - 15 bucks and they are good. The Arcade games and pin ball machines are fun. The Halloween parties are fun and music is always on point. I recommend MC to anyone looking to check out a new bar in Downtown Orange County.

Exactly what I was looking for - an arcade with food and drinks. Multiple options to eat and I went with the spiced burgers and their Bhangra smash. Bar upstairs where you purchase tokens and pickup the occasional drink. Lots of pinball games, taking 2-4 tokens each, and I think Godzilla was my favorite. An old school game of Diner was on the first floor but it kept eating my tokens. Regular stand ups are just single tokens but also can vary. Wished I had more time to stay for the pinball tournament at 73

Thursday trivia nights at 7 pm are extremely fun. Perfect place for date nights. They have a great variety of drinks, good music, and arcade games and pinball machines. It's a must!

This nostalgic barcade is hidden inside McFadden Public Market in downtown Santa Ana. Two nights in a row this ended up being our starting off point for a night out and it didn't disappoint. They have an assortment of games to choose from and a fun game themed menu. We're pretty patient people but the lines at the bar did take awhile to move along even for it being fairly early in the evening. Once we got our drinks we noticed they were made really well. There's also an outdoor balcony with flame heaters

Recently went here for Thursday night trivia night. I hadn't ever been here before but had an amazing time. Such a cute and fun arcade bar. The bar staff were incredibly friendly. Such a fun / chill vibe. We ended up getting a pizza from the restaurant downstairs on the first floor.

Great little spot, I only wish there was more of it. Bartenders are friendly and quick, the games are typically in good working order, and they have a lot of pinball machines for those interested; occasionally they will host pinball tournaments. Really love the updated bar they just installed; looks great and the space feels way more open. As far as I am aware, Mission Control only serves beverages, but there's a decent variety of good food on the first floor of the building. It also has their often photogr

Cool place for after work drinks. I went there on karaoke night and it was pretty quiet, not sure if that's the norm or not. A good happy hour before 7pm(?) and $10 gets you a bag of tokens that will get you 30-60 mins of entertainment (depending on how good you are at arcade games and pinball. Would return again, hopefully on a busier night!

My first visit had me hooked. Great atmosphere, beer selection, and most importantly, 19 pinball machines (as well as other retro arcade games)! The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful! Karaoke, Pinball League, Trivia, and occasional DJ's during the week. Pizza and tacos are available from the restaurants downstairs. Parking is behind the building down a ways. The happy hour specials are awesome! Tokens can be purchased with cash and card. Prices are reasonable! It's definitely a must visit for pi

Located in the heart of Santa Ana, California, is an eclectic gem - a trendy arcade bar, fondly referred to by locals and tourists alike. The venue is a niche blend of entertainment, adorned with great music, clever concoctions, and a clientele as diverse as the arcade games it houses. What sets this bar apart is the ingenious blend of vintage and contemporary, evident in its retro-themed ambiance that takes you on a surreal journey back in time. It's as though you've stepped into the golden era of arcade

Super rad. Good arcade games. All classics. Good amount of beer and the bartender was friendly.

This place is cool. Great atmosphere, tasty drink menu and friendly staff. My girl and I were there Friday. DJ showed up around 9:00 and the crowd started building. Can get a little packed and it's not a huge spot but I'd def come back here.

its an alright spot but my biggest complaint is a good handful of the games either had buttons that didnt work or they would eat up coins (which are like 25?). At first it seems like not a big deal but when it happens often it adds up, especially when some of the games require 6 tokens.

Love the arcade bar concept. Trivia night looked fun. Need to bring in more variety of games.

happy this place is here. I feel like a 15 year old teen again (except now I can legally drink ??). Playing asteroids for,25 cent. Beer is $8.

Probably the best collection of pinball around: new games, good maintenance. Will be back!

I'm not entirely sure what happened to this place but they got rid of a lot of popular pinball machines. Where there once were tables is now a DJ booth. That's fine but when the DJ starts up the vibe changes into a dive bar with a few arcades in it. Seems very popular so I don't knock them for it, just wish every place didn't turn into a loud club after 10pm

TLDR; Cool vibe, full and lively but still had a lot of fun. It was a Saturday night and having been to the barcade in Arts District LA, EightyTwo, I was expecting a similar vibe (full and kind of annoying). While it was similar, it had all the best parts and none (that I could see) of the worst (maybe the lack of AC? but it wasn't a big deal, even in July). It was fun and lively without it being too crowded, there were actually games available to play, good assortment, and not too pricey! For $20, 4 of us

A great spot to hang out with your friends ??. Drinks are delicious and games to play and a dance floor ??

Always a great time. The themed drinks take the experience to another level while you get hands on some nostalgia classics: Time Crisis II, Street Fighter II, House of the Dead, racing games and more. My recommended drink is the Mario 1-Up and--unexpectedly--anything with mixed with both pineapple and lemon juice.

Nice little hidden gem bar-cade in Santa Ana with classlic arcade and pinball machines as well as craft beer on tap.

We did come on a Sunday afternoon, which allowed us to have a pick of most the games since tgere wasnt a lot of people, only the pizza place was open for food downstairs. Fine by us, as we just needed some grub before the games and beer. The bartender was very sweet. It's awesome to be able to play old arcade games and pinball machines while having a few beers. The music gave more of a party night-life vibe. Overall, 10stars, will return for more fun! Definitely bang for your buck!

No food didn't let me drink ( I am 17) Cool games and prices are relatively forgiving

A solid barcade! In terms of game variety, it's no Dave and Busters - it's kinda small, but there's lots of retro games and a guitar hero machine. The drinks are good and creative as well. A nice lowkey place to go on a date or bring some friends. Also a good starting point for the night if you plan on hitting up multiple bars. No food there I'm pretty sure, but it's connected to a good place downstairs.

Fun place but half the arcade games we played had an issue - not starting after paying tokens, not working correctly or malfunctioning buttons.

It got better, more bands performing now and it's been amazing so far I hope they keep it up. Arcade is cool they have pinball machines as well. And a balcony so it's fun and the music is great depending on the DJs .

It's a great place with live music and a good selection of games though some of them need to be better maintained. Lots of the machines had sticky buttons, joysticks, or coin slots. Needs a bit if work. Otherwise, very fun place nestled in downtown Santa Ana.

Alcoholic drinks available with an arcade and a dance floor and a good balcony space to hangout.

The place itself is neat, but it's a shame how badly taken care of their non-pinball arcade games are. The first game my partner and I tried to play reset itself when we put in a token (even though the attract mode was running just fine). Had a lot of different games where buttons either straight up didn't work, or only worked once every 5 presses or so. Been there twice over the course of the past year, and both experiences were the same.

Up stairs a bar and down stairs restaurants. Food is great and they all give amazing service. I love coming here for a drink or two on my days off.

Really fun environment. Lots of cool games and fun drinks.

Very fun time! Great DJ and a little dance floor to get down and boogy!

I enjoy the variety of games that are available to play. The staff is helpful and courteous. There is metered and garage parking nearby.

Thank you Phillip for having play at your Venue. Drinks were taste, acade games were a blast and the atmosphere was awesome. We look forward to playing your venue again. Regards, John Paul Gonzalez AKA Ultra Dave of Ultra MODE a Depeche Mode Tribute

A great place if you love old arcade games and pinball.

I don't think they serve food here but the drinks are great. People that frequent the bar are pretty nice. There is a dance floor, pinball, and variety of classic arcade games. Make sure to bring some cash to exchange for quarters!

Fun place. Bartender made some great drinks. I recommend the owner has someone check the machines to make sure they accept coins properly. Lost a few coins due to machine malfunctions through out my visit here. Besides that it was a great time! Maybe some directions on Yelp or google or how to get inside the place!

This place was fun. It's a barcade with a dj and a small dance floor. Loved it so much fun!! If you want food there's a few options downstairs. We did park in the structure across the street so you do have to walk but only a bit.

Love this place, we've been coming here for years and we always have fun. The pinball machines are great and super varied, and there are always lots of good beers on tap. I'm confused about where the old Google Maps listing for the bar went, it's been around for ages but for some reason it disappeared. I was worried that Mission Control had closed or something, but nope, just an error with Google Maps I think. Anyway, very highly recommended!

I was downstairs waiting for food and some drunk hit me with glass ten feet up. No security was there. The bar manager had to handle the drunk guy that caused me to get injured. The great businesses Below this bar provided first aid for me. They did nothing to help me or even took the time too see if I was okay after a glass decoration hit my head and body. The bar manager even had a chance to press charges but chose to let him walk after even after i was assaulted. Thanks for the cut and bruises and not car

Fun atmosphere with classic pinball and arcade cabinets! Nice draft beer selection as well and there are food options downstairs if you want a bite to eat.

Super cool arcade bar!! We had a blast. Drinks are good and there was a DJ. Atmosphere was on point.

Upstairs. No elevator. Needs an A/C on hot days for sure. Upside is there's an abundance of games to play. Mostly pinball but there's other video games. Some of the oldies but goodies. Best selection of pinball I have seen in O.C. and by far the most available.

Great pinball selection, cool staff, nice location.

Fun place for old arcades and pinball with beer and friends. However, there is no place to put your beer while playing. They take your beer away if you leave it unattended. Best if you have non-playing friends to hold/watch your beer or only play between beers. ?? McFadden Mkt has a pizza place and "Taco Compadre" on the ground floor. From there, you can go upstairs to "Mission Control" to bring back a beer to have with your food. The beer menu is extensive with good craft beer on tap. Too bad it is

Blast from the past! Also happened to show up on a trivia night, which was a lot of fun.

We went solely to play games. It was great fun all the pinball was in working order.

Nice place, if you haven't been there before I suggest visiting. Really cool!

I've called and left messages nearly every other day for weeks. So either they are out of business or just run their business so poorly that they refuse to answer their phone or return messages. Either way, they're completely flakey, and not worth spending your hard earned money on

Good menu of mixed drinks. On tap they have more variety than the usual place this size. They have arcade games and pinball machines.

Throwback games and unique cocktails ?? A winning combo ^-^ Some of the machines require a bit of finesse, and the selection of games doesn't include any newer indie cabinets, but still a fun trip to make!

Bar and music are great. The video games are degrading badly. I really enjoy the arcade and a lot of the arcade games are broken or don't work properly. Please fix them!!

Food only at the place on lower level, which is great!! Great beer, lots of pinball games, and other arcade games.

Great for a night out for old school gaming pinball, pac man. Mario kart, plus much more

First time visiting. Was so fun. Had pinball machines and video games. Live dj music and a bar.

Good times and great beer. Great customer service.

What a cool place to go ?? Old school arcade good music ?? Cocktails with a hidden gem.

Jay is a super cool guy. Totally recommend if you are looking to play pinball.

Very rad pinball arcade! Great selection of games. I will be back!

Can't beat beer and pinball!!

Few games don't work or eat quarters. Could be better maintained. Parking is a bit tough as well.

It's a great experience. ???? Having drinking and playing arcade games ?? ??

I love this place but there are always many broken games. Pinball is cool here though

Arcade arcade and a bar video games and pinball. Go checknit out. Fun place.

A cool little food hall / bar area

Awesome pinball machine

They have all sorts of cool games! Tokens are relatively cheap too.

So fun. Just the right amount of busy. Great music, awesome games

Excellent all around. Very reasonably priced and delicious food

Just went to play games. Nice helpful staff when a machine doesn't work.

Be ready to lose some tokens in the machines and they get sticky with people spilling drinks ??

Very good atmosphere... is a little food court...

Very cool spot. Small and mostly pinball machines.

Good vibe, fun place to have drinks

Food is downstairs. Love this place,

We think play games about Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man together.

It was too loud for my liking.

Fun little barcade with a great atmosphere.

Fun Place... Safe environment!

Very nice and friendly staff

Good drinks, good vibe, good spot

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
