Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise the friendly staff, affordable prices (1-2 tokens per play), and high win rates for small plushies, making it a fun spot for groups. Many highlight frequent wins and good prize variety. However, several complain about rigged machines, where claws drop prizes intentionally, calling it a scam. Some note inconsistent hours and token policies. While many love the experience and return often, others warn it’s a money-waster with unfair gameplay.

Customer Reviews

I recently had the opportunity to spend a while in Matte. And I must say it's a great place! I won several plushies and the experience was incredible. The place offers a lot of variety and unique Pokemon specially for my older kid. And special mention for the warm attention. My two kids love it! For sure I'll come again very soon!

This place is honestly the cutest and friendly places get to win small prizes and really big prices you could buy other stuff on the sides prizes that are keychains really cute recommend to go

This place is a lot of fun. Best to do the $50 deal for 70 coins. Each token=$1 before the deal. games are 1-3 tokens depending on the item. I just want to say that no arcade place ever refund tokens so the previous reviews don't make sense. So buy whatever amount of coins you are ok with parting with. Has lots of different variety of prizes and gachapon balls. The balls are funny, won a nail clipper and a kitchen pourer. They'll also exchange the item for a different one in the same machine if you ask. I

Absolutley love this place, have been going like every month which hurts my wallet but makes me happy. For the best experience, bring like 3 to 6 people and buy 100 dollars worth of tokens, youll be able to split it and still have a lot of extra (you get extra for spending more). And if your a local, by spending 100 you can get this card that gived you a free 10 tokens every month. Its a very fun place to go to with friends, and the staff is so nice there i hope the lady who works behind the counter reads t

Great place. I won 6 small plushies and gave 1 to a kid. For $20 you get 25 tokens and can pay with credit card. You can win a small plush within 3-4 tries. There are a lot of small crane game to play with just 1 token. The big plush is 2 tokens. The lady was nice to give me a big bag. I will come again next time. Cheers ??

So, I been wanting to try this place. And I wanted to see the playability and the payout of their place. It was so fun. The staff was really great and accommodating. I was there for not too long but it was fun!!

1 stars. It's a scam because whenever I get the plush perfectly the machine shakes and the plush falls down and I wasted 10$ and it's scam because the plush will always fall down. I do not recommend this place at all

Best place ever love it cute plushies great prices workers super nice cant wait to go again my daughter won this cute bag

Cheaper than the other places I went. I spent $20 on other places got 0 plush cause the small crane was 2 coin and the big is 3 but here is small crane 1 and big 2. Spent $20 got 25 coin got 2 big plush and 9 small! Very easy to get prize!

I've been to several claw machines all around New York City and I have to say this one is my favorite. The smaller claw machines are fun and I won several times unlike the other places I've visited. The prices are the best I've seen, some machines are 1 token or 2 which is phenomenal, unlike the 4 token or 6 token machines in other places.

Scam. We played 3 different machines and it grabs your prize and drops it right back; doesn't even move most of the time. At a dollar per play for the smallest prize, it's not worth the gamble. Might as well buy one of the plushies they have on sale

Fun time very affordable they gave me a cute bag to hold my winnings

Just went there today. Will admit I loved that they had token claw machines which you don't see much of any more in all claw machine arcade. Pay $20 got exact amount of tokens for the $ payed, employees were kind enough to allow me to take photos of the place because that was my first time there. Sure some of the claw machines were a bit difficult but came away with 4 prizes from the toy claw machines better than 0 and my goal of 2. 5 stars for a very unique arcade that opened up not too long ago. According

It's a really fun place and have a great time with friends and family and boyfriends/girlfriends. But it's something rigged. Waste $20 through 30. And once u get that spot, the claw doesn't grab it the way it's supposed to grab. Don't come here unless u wanna waste a lot of money.

Very nice place.! We Have fun and win a lot of prices? I love it ??

I visited this place twice because I work nearby and I must say most of the claw machines are rigged by the owner. I also noticed most of the reviews are from employees of the store which isn't fair to the customers. The owner sells non refundable tokens so if you buy 50 bucks or more good luck trying to get your money back! Place is a scam you won't give this place star stars unless you work for the owner of this establishment. Worst experience ever and I've played at thousands of claw machines and have cl

I have visited over 160 arcades all around the United States. This place is by far the most RIGGED arcade in NEW YORK. Most of these reviews are written by employees of the arcade aka the woman who stands in front. They have friends and family taking photos as if they won prizes from there but they didnt win anything. I witnessed alot of scamming when it comes to this place, what claw machine clamps down on a item and fully releases it (claw opens before going back to prize shoot). DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY THE

Games are Rigged! No Refunds!! Owner does not give refunds on tokens they sell and will lie to you and say you can get a refund after you put your money in the machine all they do is point to a hidden sign saying no cash refunds!! I spent 100 dollars and only was able to get a key chain! Claw machines pick up the item and releases it mid air before even making it back to the prize shoot. Owner has their friends doing reviews behind the counter. ( I seen them on google adding reviews), while they were laugh

The prizes are fun and cute, but some of the machines are a bit rigged, my friend and I played the ones that cost a token and as soon as we got one, the claw opened again, causing it to drop (this is to some of the machines, not all)

Prizes could be better but it's more for the experience and the joy of winning these people really gotta understand what payout is most claw machines that aren't rigged should have it I've won dozens of prizes and I come almost all the time staff is super friendly and they help you when your prize is stuck ^_^

I love this place I always spend $10-20 dollars and walk out so so many things The staff here is so nice

So much fun and super cute plus staffs are really nice

Love this place! Cute prices! Highly recommend!

All the machines are extremely loose, it's a complete waste of money, my mom got two balls and the sketchy man only told her she can only take one? The prices are ridiculous and if u want to go to a place to throw away your money go here

Best place ever employees were super nice prizes were great quality and one of my plushies got got stuck because of the chain and the employee used his own coin to help me and I didn't even ask for help. AMAZING

Would go again, staff were understanding and alot of claw machines and also some things that you can just buy also you can pay with card just go up to the register but it charges tax, cash doesn't.

Super fun! Mostly cute keychain claw machines which I personally love!

The worst place the claw machines let the prices fall intentionally and we ask why it does that and they just said that they know but its just part of the machine and all are like that that we should keep trying.

Kind people, fun arcades nice prizes highly recommend

The games are rig, the claws pick up the toys and drop it at the same time, half of the reviews are from the owners worst place to go .... not worth it

Cute place! I think a small cafe or something snacks on the side would be a good additional for this place.

Llots of fun! Lots of small claw machines. Staff is nice

Very nice games and toys, with one coin you can get nice toy

Never open when they say they are.

Very nice staff. Good prizes.

Very good place to hang with friends and win prizes

Cool plushies and high chance of winning

The place is cheap and for a good price

The games are RIGGED!!! Don't go there

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
