Amazing store with knowledgeable staff, and exceptional stock! They have the rare games, the cool games, the retro games, and will take the time to show you around! Definitely a modern gem in this gold country town
I wish I found this place sooner. I only recently started going in but I LOVE this place. Even just chatting with Chris is always a wonderful experience. I like to look through the pokemon card bulk/binders when I have some free time because I enjoy collecting cool cards. They sell cool retro consoles and games, stuff I don't see anywhere else. I highly recommend checking it out, this is an absolute gem of a spot!!
This place is absolutely fantastic, one of the true hidden gems Placerville has to offer for anyone missing the ?good old days?. I took my brother here for his 24th birthday and they were able to accommodate us with decorations and even set up video games that he loves. The location is cozy and has a ?cool friend?s game room in the 90s? feel to it. The owner, Chris, is incredibly friendly and welcoming and we had a blast chatting and playing Street Fighter together. We also got to see some rare and unusua
Great experience honestly. The dudes inside were super rad, but they will kick your ass at Marvel vs Capcom. Good prices and flexible so we will definitely be back for other games. If yall get any good fallout or Bioshock merchandise in holler at ya girl
Great place to find retro games and stuff alike, Chris is a great guy!
The owner, Chris is exceptionally knowledgeable regarding retro games. He is an amazing guide when looking to purchase something old school. I've never been disappointed or had buyers regret when dealing with this shop. It has ALWAYS been money well spent. :)
Amazing store! The owner is SO nice and I always come here first before shopping anywhere else. Definitely my favorite video game/card shop in the area!
Amazing store with a great variety of classic collectibles. Friendly service and fair prices. Highly recommended
Great selection of all retro gaming from cards to video games and even some consoles super friendly informative overall great vibes will be coming back forsure
Great shop for all things retro video games and collectibles! Been coming here for the past year and have always received the best customer service! Highly recommend going out of your way to come here!
it ain't a lounge, "1- up" is a lounge, this is obviously it's just a store. If I sat in your store for 30 secs, you're gonna tell me to leave, n panic cause someone is using it as a lounge lol. Be real. this is twerking placerville, not Sacramento. But if anyone is interested in a real retro game lounge and normal people check out "1-up arcade" in sac
Chris is always friendly and great customer service. He gave my son some Pok?mon cards for his Birthday a few years ago, it meant a lot to my son.
The guy who runs the shop was super friendly and I wnjoyed browsing some classic NES and N64 games, taking a trip down memory lane.
The store has good stuff it reminds me of GameStop it's a good thing that they sell Xbox One games and Xbox Series X controllers as well
Went in to look and the owner was so awesome and the prices were so great compared to the ones at The Cave or any place in Sac so I left with so much. It was clean and the people inside were so nice
I brought my son into the store as a surprise for his 12th birthday. He loves retro video games. He found many things on his wish list and was in retro game heaven. The customer service was amazing, they are super knowledgeable about all the old systems and their quirks. We will definitely be shopping there from now on for all his retro needs.
A absolutely amazing hidden gem for old game collectors. The people there are extremely kind and respectful. The deals are absolutely fantastic and the choices are vast and reasonably priced. 10/10 Experience and would definitely recommend to anyone who collects or enjoys old video games.
An awesome place for video game lovers in Placerville. Not only does the store have tons of awesome trading cards and retro systems, there is also tons of games to play on the emulators. This place has a fantastic environment and is the #1 hangout spot for me and my friends.
Just went into there for the first time on Monday after driving past it several times. It's now gonna be my unofficial second home. Chris is awesome to talk to about anything gaming, trading card, or art related. His prices are also fantastic for a local business.
Super awesome people. Feels like your big brothers room in the 90s
A cool place to relive the old days! These guys sell pokemon and magic cards with tables to play with your existing cards along with nintendo and sega consoles to play the classics! they even have a real arcade cabinet! Fun place and kid friendly! Owner very nice and welcoming! prices very reasonable!
This store is an amazing shot of nostalgia. Chris is great an always friendly.
Got a few og xbox's for modding and a xbox 360 slim special edition
Excellent service, awesome collection.
This place rocks! I've met some really good people here, and the gaming community is strong here.
Best place to go if you're bored and want to play games.
Amazing service, super friendly
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
