Main Street Lanes

Main Street Lanes

Reviews Summary

This bowling alley offers a mixed experience with generally positive ratings. Many praise its affordability, especially on Sundays with $1 games, and appreciate the friendly, accommodating staff. Family outings and birthday parties are highlighted as enjoyable, with decent food options (though some items like pizza receive criticism). However, recurring issues include malfunctioning lanes, poor maintenance (oily lanes, broken arcade machines, dirty restrooms), and inconsistent service. While some love the classic vibe and league play, others note outdated facilities and occasional overcrowding. The arcade and bar areas are hit-or-miss, with some enjoying the atmosphere and others frustrated by broken equipment. Overall, it’s a solid choice for casual bowling but has room for improvement in upkeep and service.

Customer Reviews

Good family-friendly fun on the Sunday we visited. Older (1990s+-) technology at the lanes, but it worked great. The place is very full on Sundays. Bathrooms could use some cleaning attention, but was fine. Staff (blonde curly hair in blue top) was very helpful at the front counter. Good sized game room.

Great atmosphere. Great bowling. Wonderful deals for drinks and games on Thursdays. They hold league games and occasional karaoke nights as well. All around, Main Street Lanes is a good spot to spend time with family, hang out with the fellas, and make new friends! If I ever bowl a perfect game in my life, I hope it happens here! #fun #bowling

While visiting yesterday, an employee at the desk did take my business card. I had some questions about bowling leagues being offered. She said the manager was busy at the moment and would give me a call. Being fairly new to this area, I had participated in a bowling league while in Richmond and found this Farmville bowling alley to be a good size with plenty of bowling lanes and lots of parking spaces outside. The public areas looked relatively clean. People fortunately were still wearing masks there.

Went with a friend had fun. It was nice wasn't busy chicken quesadilla was OK.

Lots of fun for the whole family! Friendly staff good atmosphere.

Me and my husband had an awesome date night and a great time, we played at least 3 hours worth of bowling, we spent some time in the bar and played a couple games of pool.! The bowling alley was clean and there were plenty of lanes open, it wasn't overly crowded or too loud, it was absolutely perfect for a date night.! We definitely had a great time together and we'll definitely be back for more.! Make sure you go with some extra money because the drinks are extra tasty and you're going to want more than on

Clean, affordable, fun. Had a 4 year olds birthday party and they quickly accommodated us, even though there had evidently been an issue with our reservation. We had two hours of fun and the kids had a blast. Good food, affordable bowling and staff was friendly and accommodating! We will be back! ??

They still allow smoking in this day and age in the bar area where the pool table are and that sucks if you're a non-smoker

Classic bowling alley. Parking lot had a lot of trash in it and bathrooms were disgusting. There were not a lot of bowling balls to choose from and shoes were falling apart.

Went to my nephews bowling party here. They weren't too busy so we had an area basically to ourselves for the 2 hours we booked. Lanes had a lot of oil on them... I do mean A LOT. Food wise... I would not recommend the pizza, I would recommend the chicken nuggets tho.

It was a nice place to finish my birthday

Each time we go here they have an issue with the equipment not working right and we have to move to another lane. The music is very loud when someone plays the jukebox. We have not tried the food yet.

Visited for my daughters birthday party and had a good time. Staff was friendly and accommodating ( even though they evidently didn't have the reservation that we had made a week and a half prior on file?) They quickly got us Lanes and made sure we had everything we needed. Pizza was good, sodas were cold, and the party package with ice cream, goodie bags, and personalized bowling pin was a hit! Made for a fun afternoon and now the kids want to have bowling parties every weekend.

The staff at Main Street Lanes are amazing and so welcoming! I went with some coworkers tonight and was disappointed to hear they had run out of chicken tenders, the staff did everything by they could to ease my disappointment and their kindness had a deep impact on me. Their pizza sticks are absolutely delicious!! You should definitely head over to Main Street Lanes to bowl, hang out, and eat some good food!!

Needs updating for sure. Staff was not the nicest either. Didn't seem like they wanted to do their job or be there. Cops in and out due to whatever was going on with the bar inside. Just not the best for 1st time visitors or in general. Best thing was prices.

Kids had a blast and it was dead on a Monday afternoon so we pretty much had run of the place. They were out of nacho cheese so we didn't get our snacks, but overall fun summer afternoon treat.

Gone here a few times. Not too bad. Fun place during dinner times. Late night is not for families. Recently took a group of seniors for day-time bowling. Had a great experience. The place was relatively empty but they had a fun time and the people who were working were happy and nice. It was pretty clean and the food was good.

A great place to spend time with friends and make new ones! If they would only remove smoking from the bar so you don't go home smelling like an ash tray and clean the bathrooms to remove the urine smell.

Needs updating, doesn't have to be modern but at least clean furniture and and get rid of worn out furniture and appliances. There was room deodorizer all in the hvac system as well as the chairs. My kids had white powder all over them. Beds are hard but the pillows are soft. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Nice place to knock some pins without knocking your wallet. Prices are good, and the people are friendly. Shoes are very clean, and the food is good. Wouldn't hurt to replace the balls there but if you bring your own it isn't a problem.

The over whelming stench of weed makes it unlikely that our family will be returning. The food was pretty good and the kids had a good time bowling.

Service is great had good time. The lights going out. Was cool while Bowling

My family and I had a great time bowling here while visiting Longwood University. The customer service was really great. Not expensive at all and very clean. Would like to see more lighting outside.

Loved the place, authentic, legit, and the staff was amazing. And they have a Bar inside hell yeah.... I'm going back once a week for sure. Food was also on point, hands down 9.99/10

Main Street Lanes is a great place to take the family and enjoy a few games of bowling. If you have a large group it may be better to split up and play on different lanes next to each other or pay per game may benefit you more. We went with a group of 8 and 6 were kids so we rented the lane for 2 hours on a Saturday amd the total was about 80 bucks with shoe rental. It took us about an hour 20 mins to finish our first game with that many people but it was worth it because our 4 year old birthday boy was ha

First time there, older, but decent place, everyone has fun, very friendly people, food prices are decent.

My friend and I had a great time. Could use 1 or 2 more people to help with the front and bar areas. The lady that helped us was nice and polite.

The bowling experience can't get better with this awesome place! Play games like VS. Super Mario Bros in the arcade, bowl up to how many hours you want, and the customer satisfaction is certainly guaranteed!

I love the place. The people who work there are the friendliess people I know working in an astablishment as such. Bowling alleys are loud and hectic but the staff there maintain a professional attitude at all times and will always give you a grateful smile. I look forward to going there and getting the recreation and exercise any person needs and deserves. I recommend Main St. Lanes 150%

Perfect spot for a laid back bowling experience. Granted not the most upscale but it's perfect for my liking, definitely the better local spot, and less.. 'mainstream' (?). Friendly staff, good food with a cook who wants nothing more than to make it perfect for YOU, great bar area with pool tables and ashtrays on the bar, tended by some great staff as well. There is an arcade which maybe could be updated, but nevertheless, my go-to spot for bowling.

Went here lots of times but on Saturday and Sunday watch out. If they're super busy, you'll get ignored completely. My husband and I walked out once because we stood there for 20 min!

Complete robbers! Set up a bday party and was handed fee after fee after bad customer service, followed by horrible food and more charges! After asking about these charges i was met with rudeness and left feeling taken advantage of. I will never return and i advise everyone to do the same! Absolutely horrible!!

Pretty well standard as far as the bowling side the bar in pool table area isnt in bad but I go there with my son and the arcades always a wreck and dollar a game on everything adds up quick if u have small ones it might be best to go to decade arcade or something

The lanes aren't broken. Does a bowling alley need anything else? Beer is cold, shoes and lanes priced well for being the only option in 45 minutes, BEST.BURGER.IN.TOWN! Three league nights. Kids welcome.

Its a fun time for some friendly gatherings and getting together with friends. They have bowling leagues and a bar with a few pool tables. You can also order some food there too.

My family loves this place. The staff are friendly. There are lots of menu items. They've got an arcade. The bathrooms are an offensive pepto bismal pink color but they are pretty clean. Nice little place!

Professionalism, something seen in most successful businessness, but not here. It's disappointing, being a small town business I would expect more than a purely economic model. Considering customer service is the primary grounds to stay in business for nostalgic places like this. Do yourself a favor and see a movie instead.

Great place to enjoy family time or a night out with friends. Prices are awesome! Game room is alot of fun, food is typical stuff for bowling alley, and they even serve drinks in a small bar that is seperated from everything else.

Bar area was great. One of the few left that allows smoking. Only had two pool sticks. One of those didn't have a tip.

I had a nice time bowling with my friend and her daughter. It's a nice small family oriented bowling lane with food and drinks for everyone.

Because I moved here and the town and neighborhood is amazing everybody?s is friendly and you have a lot of activities you can do with your friends and family

Great just to bowl, if a bit outdated and slow. Game messed up halfway through. Food is GROSS.

I take the kids here all the time, the workers are very nice. They have food, drinks & a arcade game room and the kids can choose what music they listen to while they bowl.

If I could I would give this stupid bowling alley in FarmVille NO STARS!!! It was the worst experience from a buiness I've ever seen the so called manager tried to say there was no one above her and then says there's a general manager well Obviously Thts sum one above you! then she tries to say they have no way of contact other then email yeah right but she came over and said Tht me and my family couldn't have this birthday party there becuz we were not reserved but when we made a phone call the day before

Used to be a nice place but recently everytime we've gone the lanes and score board mess up and no one ever comes to help after you push the button for help unless you constantly go get them if you can find someone so you end up wasting all of your time and can't finish a game

BEWARE OF BEING OVER CHARGED!! Went in on October 28th between 9pm and 12am, a Saturday night, with some friends. Rented shoes and played two games. A middle aged man rung us up who was wearing a large comedic top hat (because it was the Saturday before halloween). Our group goes to pay individually, everyone's is $10.50 until they get to the last person in our group. They charged him around $22 for two games and shoes! We figured out that they most likely charged him for our friend, who is a league bowler

Nice place to take kids to have fun along with adults.

Great place to golf with the boys, however, the guy who lives in the bathroom and tries to sell me stale crackers kinda creeps me out. Overall a good time.

Had lots of fun with my grandsons, my son, daughter in law and bf,lots of bowling, boys loved the game room !!

Great place to bowl with the family or on a league. It gets my hubby out once a week and I get to enjoy "me" time. Food pretty good too.

We always have a blast here. They participate in "Kids Bowl Free". We always buy the family pass for around 40 bucks and go all summer.

It has bowling. That's the only thing I can positively recommend about this place. Service isn't great, restrooms are poor, the food is mediocre, and most of their acarde machines have busted controls.

A nice place to bring the family and friends to have great fun. Very affordable prices and great food, Nice staff

Loved it!!!! The food was great, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were friendly.

have been going for a while now, had daughters birtday party. went above and beyond to accommodate our needs.

Friendly and helpful staff with cheap snacks and drinks. Live going Sundays for the $1 bowling. Super affordable

It's normally fun to come here but the last few times I've come here the lanes always mess up I was on lane 1 the last time I came here and I wasted more of my time getting my lane fixed than actually playing Try not to get lane 1

Great prices, fun to environment, young crowd, decent variety of food, and fun music

Lots of fun for the whole family. Good food and drinks

A nice place to spend family time or a small group of friends can get together for fun.

Awesome place to have a birthday party

Nice place to go bowling.

Great weekly specials. Tons of room, clean facilities, and the always appreciated full bar while bowling.

It was fun and next time we will eat there.

Lots of fun and great food!

Fun place for the kids...especially if you have the kids bowl free deal for the summer

Needs more bowling balls with larger holes, but overall a good experience.

Had a great time music was lit and food is good.

Customer service was a little slow but had a good time

Good food good people ,, bowling stinks outdated equipment ,,dead pins ,,approaches are tacky , pins not on spot etc. But if you like pool and drinking its a good spot...

$1 bowl and shie rental on sunday. Family fun night that won't break the bank

Good for kids and teens, and they can bowl free in the summer during the day.

Nice place to take ur kids. Especially on Sunday bowling is a 1.00 per game and 1.00 rental shoes

Bowling was fun. Snack bar left a lot to be desired. Service was ridiculously slow

This is the 2nd time in a row we've went & lane #4 was messing up! At least I know which one to avoid next time!

Lanes are very oily, balls come back wet with oil. Sunday special allows you to bowl for $1 a game and $1 shoe rental.

Friendly staff and great time as well as league play.

Spent the week on storm duty in the area and for our down time we had a blast here, staff was very friendly!

Always a great place to get drunk with great staff and entertainment

My "Cheers ." Family fun in a great atmosphere. Leagued are a great time!

Great prices, good food, and free bowling on thursdays, awesome place

Good prices on food and bowling. Great place for groups and good student discounts.

Neat little place. It could use some updating. But its the best farmville has to offer.

Food and service is really good.

Nice place to spent rainy afternoon

Was charged more from the female bartender than what was listed on the board????

Nice staff, easy self calculating scoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
