Such a great place to go and hang out with friends. A mixture of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink to choose from, some fun snacks, and a ton of things ranging from pinball, classic arcade to Xbox and PlayStation games. On Wednesdays they offer five dollar entry that gets you all the games for free play. I will absolutely be back there again!!!

This place is amazing! I'm obsessed with arcades in general but especially Pinball. This place has 13 pinball machines so fellow pinball lovers get ready! There's a decent about of other traditional standing arcade cabs but what I think sets this place apart is they also have console video games for just about everything. Seriously, every major game system is there with great game selections. This place also sells beer and wine for those that are 21+; there is no liquor here BUT since you pay a flat rate to

Always a great time at Level 256! We go for the pins, but they offer so much more. We don't make it out often but when we do, there is always something new to play. $10/free play. They always have a pretty amazing draft list and I even tried a pre-mixed Old Fashioned that was (to my surprise) pretty good! Luke was super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to play some games and have a drink! Cheers!

This place was fun and tickled my brains nostalgia center, playing Pac Man and Qbert. Their pinball machines are all Stern, with a good variety of different pinball experiences like Foo Fighters, the Shadow, Simpsons, Batman (70s TV) and many more. They had a ton of beer choices and some pre-mixed drinks. I liked the Ultimate Margerita with Cuervo 1800 but they also had Diet Coke if you are parched. The bathrooms are clean and it is kid-friendly during the day. The cover charge is $10 per person but they gi

We ended up staying 2+ hours and felt like we spent 10 minutes there! I was disappointed that some of the NES games were not working but the pinball was a ton of fun. Affordable as well!

Haven't had a game on a pinball in 40 yrs!!! Took me back!!! Had sooooo much fun!! $10 for all you can play! There's also a bar if you have a need. Highly recommend!

Horrible experience with the people working here. The lady at the door was beyond rude, which seems to be an often occurrence. The responses to these reviews were quite reassuring as everyone else also seems to think the staff and owner are beyond rude too, which they prove with their answers to these reviews. Love to support local, small businesses but can't get behind an awful place like this. Maybe if they were nicer?

For $10, you can play all the games, all day, with the ability to come-and-go as you please. Games are a gamer?s dream, from pinball and arcade, to SNES and Dreamcast games to play, as well. All machines and video games are set to free play. Employees are helpful and friendly. They also have a fantastic draft beer selection.

Nostalgia galore. For just $10, you get to play all games for an unlimited amount of time and with a wristband that's valid all day. All machines and video games are set to free play. They also have a fantastic selection of beer alongside obviously pinball, arcade, and games from almost every console generation. A must visit place if you are in Asheville.

$10 gets you in all day, all machines are set to free play. Fantastic selection of beer, pinball, arcade and videos from almost every console generation. They also host a weekly IFPA ranked pinball tournament every Sunday @ 5:30pm

If I'm ever reported as a missing person, you will find me here. This place is amazing, $10 bucks at the door on a Saturday night and they set all the games to ?free play?. They've got a little bit of everything and it's not overly packed with people so you can actually enjoy yourself. Great selection of beers and good people working there too!

Opened 3 hrs late. Charged full price. Kicks kids out at 5pm despite their late opening. Would have been great otherwise. Would recommend the Asheville pinball museum or Retrocade.

Such a fun spot to hang out and enjoy classic pinball and arcade games. Great value since entry is a flat rate and all of the games are free play.

I'm not usually a fan of the ?pay to enter? style arcades, but it was only $10 and you get a really great variety of games, plus they have consoles you can play as well! great spot

Lovely staff, great selection of beverages, awesome pinball options, fun classic arcade cabinets, and wide selection of consoles and games from Nintendo to PS5. Have booked 2 private events here and both times myself and my staff had a great time.

Awful business, was walking by and lady came out and threw a fit for no reason. I was shocked she didn't start crying. The owner also looks like he don't shower

a great way to keep the kids busy for a few hours, especially on a rainy day, for only $10 ! ??They keep the store clean & the staff is friendly ??

Pretty cool arcade bar with tons of pinball machines, lots of consoles, and classic arcade games. Huge beer list, lots of snacks for sale and friendly bartenders. It costs 10 bucks to get in but all the games are free to play inside.

Great place!! Good selection of pinball and cabinet games! Good drinks and the staff is super friendly!

Cool little place! $10 per person gets you in all day (you can come and go with a wristband); machines set to free play; many consoles available with a wide selection of game choices. Beer on tap and in cans/bottles as well!

This place is awesome. The pinball machines all work well. Most of the arcade games work well. There was one I played where the joystick didn't work as good as it should have. My son got to Minecraft which kept him busy for a while. Neat place!

Stumbled upon this gem of Asheville while looking for cool and chill places to hangout at for new years eve. $10 to get inside, and all of the games are free to play! Tons of fun pinball machines, which are in amazing condition, and any console game you could want. Good drink selections and snacks and the staff is super friendly!

Absolutely loved coming here! If you're in the area you need to visit. From top to bottom I recommend everything

Had a blast! Great selection of pinball machines, arcade cabinets. They even had ALL the consoles with a great selection of games to choose from. There's a QR code to scan that will break down the game selection by consoles so you don't have to stand there and comb through all the games yourself. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

This place was so cool and fun! I have a bigger arcade bar where I live BUT you can't play the pinball machines without paying for them. So it was soooo fun to be able to play all the pinball machines here! The bartender was super nice as well!! Great place!!

Cute spot, good vibes. $10/head for unlimited game play. They have a bunch of pinball machines and other games like Miss Pacman, NFL Blitz, Mortal Combat, Street Fighter, Centipede, and more. They also have like every game system and a ton of different games to choose from. I could definitely spend a while in here.

Incorrect hours posted online. It says online so we came out here and they are closed :/

Such an awesome spot, they have just about every game console and game imaginable. Not only are their games incredible, they also give awesome opportunities to win game consoles. I was able to win a PS5 from their claw machine and there's a new Nintendo switch still in their somewhere waiting to be won. Their staff are always kind and attentive. Bowman is the man! Thanks level 256 you guys rock!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon with my 14 year old and we both had a blast! The staff were super friendly and easy going. They had a great selection of pinball, arcade stand ups, and consoles! We played for about 2 hours before being reminded that it was 7pm and we had to head out. At 7pm it's 21 and over. I really enjoyed the pinball selection and would love to see some rotating and featured games. We will definitely be back! They have a great mix of game and my requests for new additions would be...R

Have been here several times and always have a good time. They have all of the games and consoles from your childhood. The staff is always really friendly and they have a good selection of beer. Only thing is the space is a little cramped and the set up for playing the old consoles isn't ideal. Will definitely continue visiting. Great spot!

Owned by a husband and wife. $7 charge at the door, all you can play. Great selection of local beers on tap, but the hidden gem of this place, is the "regular beer" selection. They have a good selection of "Americana Beers" to try, while you're there. They have a row of great pinball machines, some classic arcade games, Big Buck Hunter, and House of The Dead. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Super fun bar and arcade!! Awesome customer service here as well.

Yo this place is amazing!! They have so many games available so there is something for everyone. They follow safety guidelines and the staff was incredibly friendly. My fianc? and I were looking for something to go out and do on our day off together that we get once a week and this was definitely what we were looking for! We are probably going to make this our regular hang out spot! If you haven't already go check it out! Good selection of drinks too!

My favorite stop of our group trip to asheville. $7 for unlimited game playing and you can leave and come back later! To use the consoles you must have a bar tab open but it's not a problem because they have a great selection of craft beer and ciders. Bartenders are helpful and knowledgeable, and clearly just want everyone to have the most enjoyable experience possible. Great place to stop if you're a current or retro video game fan!

Great bar. Pinball tables are well maintained and they always have a great variety of beers on tap. Staff is friendly and helpful if you have any questions or issues.

One is of the best places for pinball anywhere. I can to Asheville for a pinball Vacation and did 3 places. This place had a great selection of modern and popular pinball machines and I enjoyed it more than the other 2 by far. All the machines worked with no balls getting stuck or mechanical issues. The owner and his wife were really hands on and talked with you while you played. It was really nice how they stayed on top of the equipment and interacted with the patrons when they were playing it needed advic

The place is a knockoff of the pinball museum without any nostalgia. They also do not have all the games they list in their website as arcade, it's games on a hard drive for the console systems which you can get at home right? Anyways they have a decent selection of tap beers which is why I feel that the 1 star rating is on point. What is not listed on their website is that they close to 21 and up at 7pm! After opening at 4pm ! And closing 9pm. So they basically kicked out a bunch of parents who were drinki

This place is so much fun! We went for after dinner drinks. Great beers and a ton of fun games. The staff is so friendly! My wife and I had an absolute blast. You definitely need to check this place out.

Best five to ten dollars you can spend in Asheville for free play pinball machines, arcade and console games. The staff is super cool and friendly, and the games are awesome, as well as the beer selection. This is my new favorite hangout downtown.

We had a great time visiting here tonight. It's a great little place with a great selection of games. They have quite a few of the arcade greats. Additionally, they have a decent selection of pinball machines as well. I did not visit the bar but it looks like they have beer and soda. Not sure if they serve cocktails. I'll visit again if in the area.

Great selection of pinball machines which are generally in working order. This is going to be the best place in town if you are looking for the most recently produced machines. You can also play on consoles. If I had a wish here, it would be that there were more options to eat.

I really like this place. There's a great selection of pinball machines, all in excellent condition, plus a bunch of fun, older videogames. I also like how the tap list rotates often so that I can try new beers. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I really appreciate that they are following COVID guidelines. Thanks y'all, for providing a fun, safe place to hang during these very strange times.

This is by far the best small, in town, chill vibe arcade I've ever gone to. It's very welcoming, great games, nice drink selection, incredible staff, CLEAN and conscientious, not pretentious and very well done. It's friendly to all and truly has something for everyone! This is a favorite of mine in all of Asheville!

This place is cool AF. Fantastic 80s 90s pinball selection including Indiana Jones, T2, Robocop and Nightmare on Elm Street!!! And lots of other arcade and consoles. Great rotating beer selection, nice staff. The location is good too because it's so close to other fun bars and restaurants. Can't wait to hit up that NBA Jam.

Awesome arcade bar with an amazing selection of well maintained games. The pinball alone is worth the visit. There is also a well curated selection of craft beer on tap. Highly recommend a visit.

What a fun place! Great assortment of games. Loved the classics like frogger and ms pac man and the very cool selections of pin ball. Hadn't played in years and had forgotten how much fun it was. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Nice selections of beer too??????. Great job Level 256! ??????????

Small but fun, plenty of drinks. Mostly pinball but the console stations are great too. They'll set up whatever you want

All you can play for $10 cover fee. Great pinball selection and tournaments on Sunday afternoons. Variety of games, including old consoles, and nice bar. Fantastic location around downtown. Solid bar arcade.

Rudest staff ever. Also would like to mention I was attending a show at the rabbit rabbit and am under the age of 21. Was waiting in line when I had to use the restroom. The guy continued to try to tell me I had to pay for 2 wristbands when it was just me who had to use the restroom and told my girlfriend to wait on the street.

Nice place to kill some time. There was a cover to get in and you got unlimited game play.

One of the worst possible experiences. The staff are awful and hassled us at the door, forcing us to pay for my 5-year-old autistic sister's entry and 'game pass', under the pretense that she might possibly touch one of the machines. Older teenagers are not allowed in the establishment at any time without direct supervision and several of the games do not function. The staff will not help you, and the space is cramped and poorly maintained. I cannot recommend anyone attend this arcade bar. There are three o

Absolutely brings back my childhood! It's not JUST pinball machines and street fighter. They have Retro Consoles to New Generation that are all playable and covered with unlimited plays at a GREAT price. Friendly, retro environment with all the classics, from Pacman to Duck Hunt to Super Smash to Golden-Eye.

Brooo. What a cool bar. Plenty of beers on tap. $7 gets you unlimited access to all the arcade games, and access to the incredible number of gaming consoles available. One of the best ideas for a bar I've ever seen! Oh, and Austin, it was nice to meet you. Thanks for the Mario Kart.

We were in town on vacation and I've always wanted to go to a Barcade. Level 256 didn't disappoint, the staff was really friendly and we had a great time! Great draft beer selection too.

While visiting in Asheville we checked this place out and loved it ! My husband is a big IPA fan and he and my son both love vintage gaming. Win win! I even played pinball! We loved it so much we went back the next night!

The best place to stop when you have a beer tour is in Asheville. 10 dollars per ticket for all day! You can even come back anytime on the same day!!! Honestly, we come back and hung out 3 times during a beer tour. Play pinball and other games to make you digest your belly so you can have more beer cheers mates!????????????

Level 256 and the wonderful people that run it are nothing short of amazing. They opened their doors to us after hours and hosted such a wonderful after wedding party. Adam and Ana (the owners) were a dream to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly that day/night. Adam (the bartender) tended to all of the guests behind the bar with ease and really made an already wonderful day that much more special. These are the types of businesses everyone should support and every time I go to Asheville, I will

This place is so cool! Awesome arcades that I haven't seen in decades - love the Indiana Jones and the Street Fighter 2!! They're also doing a good job during COVID: limiting capacity, adult-only after 7pm, temp check and masks inside unless you're drinking. Beers are incredible - great draft and can selection from all over. Check Untappd! Will definitely come back when I'm back in town.

Really fun place and friendly staff. Just a note that a couple of the newer pins tilted *themselves* during multiball. No shaking on my part, just the pop bumper action and whatnot was enough to set it off....so the sensitivity could be dialed down. I think they were Batman and Cactus Canyon.

So excited that they had a Black Knight pinball machine. Owner keeps everything in good condition and is constantly maintaining the machine. Tap list is a good selection. Great place to hangout with friends on a weekend.

Great place if you're a gaming nerd, you get a wristband and can come back as long as it's the same day for only $10 each. Very friendly staff & a good selection of drinks at the bar!

Fantastic place! So many different pinball machines, and if pinball isn't your thing, they've got plenty of console and arcade games to choose from too! Not to mention they have a great beer selection ??

We had to pull our friend away. Good beer selection, loved playing new and old games. Mario cart for the win. Excellent service as well.

Safe to say, I found my new favorite hang out spot. Super cool bartenders and staff! Luke is absolutely awesome! The pinapple mango seltzer is amazing. Will definitely be back during every trip to Asheville!

What a great place! Great beer, perfect location, and a ton of fun. They have pretty much every classic game you can think of. They have a good modern selection as well.

Absolutely the coolest place in town! Awesome vintage games, GREAT selection of beer and cider on tap, and impressive attention to detail to keep everyone safe and having a great time! A must check out place for any local or visitor.

Admission is $10 and all the games are set on free play. That's really cheap for an arcade. They have consoles loaded with games and a bunch of retro arcade games that will bring back some childhood memories. The only thing is it's kinda small but you can definitely keep entertained for a few hours or more!

Loved this place. 10/10! Everyone was nice and the vibe was perfect. Lots of games to choose from and a great date night or hangout spot.

Great place for pinball and classic arcade games. Good rotating selection of craft beers as well. Owners are nice people and have done an excellent job with the business.

Great selection of pinball, arcade, and Xbox games. $7 to get in and all games are set to free play. I play at arcade bars a lot, and this one has the best prices on game play and beer! The bartenders were friendly as well.

Found this local gem today while cruising around Downtown. So much fun!!! Booze and video games? Yes please! Super reasonable and nice owners. All.the games were in great working order, clean and excellent variety.

Every time we visit Asheville we always stop here. Great arcade!!!! Friendly staff, nice beverage selection, lots of awesome games to chose from.

Great free play arcade. A solid selection of arcade cabinets will keep you busy (the NEO GEO multi cabinet could keep you entertained for days alone). Machines are well maintained and clean. They have an assortment of modern and classic consoles. I didn't try any of the classic consoles, so I'm unsure if they are directly connected to the displays or if there is any upscaling of the analog signals. A lot more chill than the Retrocade, which feels more like a bar after 9PM than an arcade.

Pretty cool arcade bar, not that expensive either. If you like pinball and classic video games I'd recommend. Also accommodating for kids (until it becomes 21+)

So many cool games; nostalgia factor was at full throttle! Some good beers on tap; not the same as heading to a brewery, but still good choices. Would love to go back if I'm here again.

You pay a cover and get to play as much as you want. Awesome pinball machines, Buck Hunter, and tons of consoles too. Such a great place and so glad we literally stumbled into it.

The woman that was at the door was rude when we walked up to try to come and play our group was about 7 of us we had our 9 month old and 8 year old on a Sunday around 4:30 and she basically blocked the door and didn't even ask how we were or anything and look at the stroller and my daughter that was really excited and told us no strollers and said that our 8 year old will only have a hour to play if we decided to come in. Not a family friendly at arcade at all!

Awesome arcade bar with an extensive tap beer list! They have a lot of classic consoles like the original Xbox, Xbox 360, original playstation, PS2, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64and even a game cube! It really sets them apart from similar arcade bars, and it's right on South Slope!! My new favorite place in town!!

Awesome arcade bar with great atmosphere. Excellent beer list as well. I expected to see pinball machines but was blown away by the library of console game titles they have as well. They have everything!

So amazingly fun! Awesome staff!! Will go again and again!!!

This is a super good arcade bar. I go to these things in pretty much every city that I visit and this one is probably second only to Ground Kontrol in Portland. I'm sure most people would enjoy this arcade but of you're legitimately into retro games, you should get excited about these guys. It's not huge but they have a really great selection of authentic arcade cabinets and pinball. The arcade in West ashveville is really fun too but Level 256 is a better choice if you want to play real games instead of e

It's a decent arcade and there's freeplay for $10 and there's parking nearby, but my wife wanted skee ball. The people were chill and didn't care that my wife and I chose to wear masks. I liked pinball hot wheels and ms pac man the best. I would return if I lived in town.

Didn't really try the drinks, but it is a nice little bar with endless games ranging from pinball and classic arcade games to nintendo switch and other platformers. Great place.

This is the best gaming bar in the Carolinas by far...and it's next to a bunch of good restaurants and event locations

Cool idea. Staff acted really weird. Overly strict on mask. Just opened so they havnt gotten their groove. You must pull up your mask in between sips of beer. Bouncer was really awkward. He checked our ID and we walked in and he called at us to get hand sanitizer. Then the bar tender said we didn't have rust bands so she has to check our ids again. Kinda unorganized ***Repy: My friends and I appreciate the dedication to safety, however we do not go to a bar to be chastised about mask in between sips of be

Great spot! Affordable drinks, fun space and definitely friendly to non gamers! Luke was a great help with games and drinks!

All the old classics that I grew up in the 90's with. Pay $10 and play as long as you like. Can't beat that deal and they all serve all kinds of beer which much of it is local.

Great bar with nice staff. Owner has a large selection of games and cycles through pinball machines monthly. Great beer selection as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
