Lava Lanes of Medford

Lava Lanes of Medford

Reviews Summary

Overall, Lava Lanes offers a mixed experience. Many praise the fun atmosphere, friendly staff (especially Raina and Jordan), and good food, particularly the cheeseburgers and bar service. Cosmic bowling and arcade games are highlights. However, complaints include inconsistent service, rude or racist staff, overpriced or poor-quality food, and issues with lane availability during league nights. While some adore it for parties or casual visits, others feel quality has declined, citing long wait times, broken equipment, and unwelcoming attitudes. The bar is a standout for many, though security and service can be hit-or-miss.

Customer Reviews

We had excellent service. One of the games wasn't working and they gave us the toy that we were trying to win. The bowling was great. We had a really good time and it was a reasonably priced for a whole family to go. Have fun for a few hours. We had people of all ages right down to my most precious granddaughter in the entire worldand she had a blast as well. We had lots to eat, and the food was pretty good.

5/30/2025 - We attended a school-sponsored event here and had such a great time! The bowling alley was perfect for all ages and skill level whether you were a seasoned bowler or just there for fun, it was an enjoyable experience all around. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. After two games of bowling, we spent time in the arcade, which was a huge hit with both kids and adults. There were plenty of games to choose from and it added to the fun atmosphere. This place is a

I love Lava Lanes, I started coming here with my dad after my mom passed away. We come on Tuesday and Friday every week for the discounted games and I've rediscovered my love for bowling! Nothing more that the emotional release of throwing a heavy ball at a bunch of pins haha!

tl;dr: I would go back after saving some money, and split the check with friends. Prologue: Group of 2, 5PM - 9 PM, Saturday. Venue: The building itself is rather large, with lots of space. It is clean, and doesn't smell. The facilities were well maintained, and I found it hard to find issues anywhere with the actual building. Bowling: So far it is the best alley I've been to in Southern Oregon. The competition isn't very steep, but it is well worth the drive for me. The price for the first game was arou

Unfortunate experience today.. service is usually not the best but today the server kept pushing us to close our tab and insulted our drink choices, it also took forever to receive our drinks, their excuse was that they are in trouble with OLCC and have to monitor things more closely.. and it just made the whole experience uncomfortable. I believe our servers name was Felicia, there was a lot of back and forth between her and the bartender so we weren't sure what exactly was happening and who was helping us

So much fun. We're from Washington state. And we only got to bowl for 1 hr. Because of night bowling. The food was yum. The workers were nice.

Great spot to eat some grub and shoot pool or go bowling. This is a large space with a lot of room to sit or stand. Food-wise, Stadium nachos are highly recommended. Check this place out if you have a chance!

I always have such a blast there! Tuesday's are insanely cheap for $8 for 4 games!!! And you can split the games up with a partner! But the last time I went out our lane and my friends lane both had issues that stopped the games 3 times! Hopefully they can work on their gear.

Affordable, fun and they definitely make it kid friendly. Big arcade area, lots of quarter machines. The lanes have bumpers as well as a little ramp for them to push their bowling balls. Nice portions for the food. Made a great playdate destination. *update Still an amazing meet up with friends

DO NOT USE ARCADE We tried to take our kids here and bought them each a $20 card. Well turns out over 1/2 the machines are out of service and don't work. No signs posted about this and they won't refund your money. They said they didn't have a manager working so they couldn't help us and we ?were sorry out of luck? Edit: it wouldn't let me reply to the response from lava lanes. I added photos but there were 21 machines that were down. If you do go through every morning maybe put up signs on all the machin

One of the few places that's OK to go to. Im talking about the bar. I like that I'm known and don't get pestered for ID everytime I go there. I like that I'm left alone to gamble and not bugged when I'm doing nothing wrong. I don't like the ghetto trash music that get played by the bums in there. Drink service is OK but drinks are way overpriced. Amanda seems cool. Your waitresses need to pay more attention to ppl In lotto room especially when nobody in the bar area

I frequent this bar pretty often and love the consistent service from Jarrod and Amanda. They are top tier. Even when the line is long, they work hard to make sure everyone is served. Sandra is a doll and such a hard worker.

Great people, good food ,fun places to kill some time. Ive had Always a great experience here.

Great music and awesome vibes! Absolutely love this place and 10/10 would recommend ??

I just wanna say thank you and a huge shout out to Raina and Jordan for going above and beyond to make sure my Twins birthday went amazing. they went out of their way to arrange our party with having more people show up then what we expected. their customer service is honestly a breath of fresh air for a parent planning their kids birthday. 10/10 we had a blast

The cheeseburgers there, very very good. Simple, tasty and no frills. Medford, has way too many cheesy burger places touting they make the best burger. Not! I'm guessing at least 50+ places. All the sit down restaurants in Medford try too hard, overcompensate and the burgers cost too much. And their burgers are just mediocre at best. And that includes In-N-Out burger, yuk! I took my little girl to Lava Lane Sunday yesterday Jan. 12th, 2025 for some arcade games and a cheeseburger afterward. She loved the b

Staff are racist. Refused to serve my group based on us having a foreign ID card. If you want to order more than 1 drink, everyone who wants one must attend the bar to prove their age. One staff member accepted my foreign (Australian) ID but then denied it when questioned by her superior. Gaslighting and rude staff. Not everyone has an American ID and the staff didn't seem to be able to comprehend this. Racist.

We were staying around the area and wanted something to do. Turns out this is the spot and it was cheap good and fun. I never knew so much can be done in a bowling ?? alley. There was food for those that were hungry. A mini arcade to get your video game addiction out of the way. A bar for those that needed a drink or two. The game and shoe rentals were also at a good price and per game i could have played all day and night here without getting bored! Sadly we had to leave after 2 games because had to get up

I usually love coming here with my friends. Me and my friends recently went there for a Birthday celebration. When we first got there, we went out to my friends car to go drop off our bags and we came back in with a cup. I never knew that you weren't supposed to have your own cups inside and the security guard originally followed us out to the parking lot when we first went out there, and when we came back inside, he told us we couldn't bring in our own cups and accused us of it being alcohol. When he said

Friendly staff. First time taking our grandchildren bowling. Fun experience making memories.

I love this place! My gf and I always have a blast! Will love to use this cosmic ticket! Thank you Raina and Vin!

this shi fire fr the music is good and so is the food everything about this place is a vibe and if it's packed you can always wait in the arcade and grind out games and win dope prizes fr 10/10 recommended

Great for family fun. Even just a nice activity on a date. Food drinks. It checks the boxes. The only thing is some shoes could be better.

Lava lanes cosmic bowling is one of the best adult friendly events we have in the rogue valley!

Had a great time with the family Chicken wings a little sweet on the ones that I tried. But we had a very fun time.

Fun, friendly.... something to do in the valley! We need more to do like this in Medford, Oregon. You dont want kids to get bored. Also, it's great for adults who want to join a league!

Big, loud, fun bowling alley. Lots of lanes, good scoring interfaces, friendly staff, good food, big shorts bar attached, with pool tables. And a large gaming area for kids.

Listen, if you want to plan a birthday party and have a great time with out stress, by all means, come here. Raina and Jordan were the absolute best tonight. My twins had a blast and they are over the moon with how kind they were. The twins make sure that they had cake and got some dinosaurs from their party. Raina, Jordan, if you see this, thank you again from the bottom of my heart. You guys are amazing! <3 Much love from a bonus momma to super happy twin girls<3

Very clean, helpful staff, nice pro shop as well.

The lava lanes crew is top tier. Raina, Jordan, Tristan, and Oliver behind the front counter are super helpful and a pleasure to work with. Jared, Brandon, and Amanda are an amazing crew in the bar as well!! 10/10 would recommend! the restaurant is fabulous and the people are so kind and generous!!

Seems like every single time we want to go bowling with friends and or family, every single lane is taken by league. We've had this problem so many times it's ridiculous. Being one of the only "go to" things to do in this valley and roxyanne being closed, you would think there'd be better availability during the week. No problem with y'all hosting league. But league hours need to be posted and available to the common public. Maybe even make some lanes available to the public during league. Plus now, with th

My friends and I love coming here multiple times a week because of how friendly the staff is. Raina and Jordan are the absolute best and make cosmic bowling such a blast! They're always super welcoming and make us feel like family when we're there. Cosmic is our favorite time to come because there are a ton of prizes and good music to be heard!

Raina knows how to make it one of the best nights. Genuinely really fun n always have a blast

Gotta give a HUGE shout out to the snack bar crew!!! There was a very big high school tournament and they were busy from start to finish!!! They were so nice and the food was great!!!

Really good experience, good food and drinks and very nice people working

From coos bay visiting friends, great food and service, management was really good as well

Great bowling alley, decent food, but the bar is where it's at. Bartender Amanda is awesome and always treats us great, terrific service. The bar has got lottery machines, pool tables, an indoor smoking section and a ton of TVs. They did start getting security on Friday and Saturday nights witch kind of sucks, another line just to get into the bar, they scan your ID at the door so make sure to have it ready. Security is a little unwelcoming but overall, it's a great time at Lava.

Bartender was Hella racist but the manger ,she was super fly after getting kicked out of the bar by a lil trailer park trash girl. The manager gave me a refund. Thank u by the way. Besides the trailer park trash the place was fun. Just don't be black and in the bar area.

Definitely need to get better orange juice for drink, yours taste like it has grapefruit and it's disgusting

Unfortunately the quality of the place has gone down hill. Leagues take up most of the lanes daily and wait times are outrageous. The lanes themselves are constantly breaking. Definitely not worth the price increase. It's sad, as this has been my home alley for 9 years now. Hopefully things get better!

Pretty fun place. Our first time with grandkids... 7 and 5. Has both gutter bumpers and ramp for the little ones.

We came here visiting family, and we signed up knowing there was a country rock theme. It was such a blast, and made for a great memory for my sister and I. Thanks lava lanes!

Food was very cold. Cost $25 for it. They did make us a new one claiming it wasn't the first time today.

I have had great times at this place until yesterday after playing 2 games, cosmic bowl started and my daughter wanted to play more, I paid for a lane for my daughter and they wanted to charge me extra $10 cover charge to stay there. Yesterday alone I spent over $200 there that's not the issue but I won't be paying $10 for their greediness. People working there were also rude. Absolutely ridiculous. Left a horrible taste in my mouth. It doesn't let me reply to the reply but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a misu

We love Lava Lanes and now they're taking many measures to make bowling a clean and sanitized sport. They clean the balls after each use and wipe down the touchscreens and tables. They have even installed hand sanitizer units next to each of the stairs going into the alley. Thank you for being part of summer bowling program for kids and their parents. My 6 year old is finally starting to bowl without the ramps, but knowing the ramps for younger bowlers are available gave my boy the confidence to bowl and do

Always a pleasure. Avoid league nights though. Almost no to no lanes available.

We had family visit us from Michigan, and they loved how nice the facilities are.

Awesome fun!!! Awesome Nacho's. This was our first visit. Summer fun with our kiddo's and fam....

Had to erase my five star review from a few years ago. I LOVE the bar. It's my favorite bar around here. The wait staff and bartenders are always nice and I love it. But me and a large group of friends decided to stay for cosmic bowling tonight. The older lady with glasses that works there is absolutely awful. She was literally (over the speaker system) being rude, threatening, condescending and everyone was commenting around us. She would interupt the music constantly to ridicule people publicly. Even when

I go bowling here with my friends all the times great service would recommend

Wonderful place to host women's state tournament.

I take a 90 year old lady to lava lanes so she can bowl, amazing.

Although the food was good, that was all that was good. We booked our lane and it was not too busy so we were in the middle of the action. Once they saw that we had a wheel chair, we were banished to lane 40 - The very end and away from others. We asked for bumpers for the special needs kids and were told that it was only for under ten kids. We do something active every Friday afternoon - this venue has left our list. Please note that nearly all of my reviews are positive.

Fries are great, drinks are great. The bowling is fun but black lights would make it so much more exciting and memorable. There is a smoke lounge in the bar. They also have 4 pool tables but they're always taken. Tons of seating. In the main building there is a decent arcade with air hockey, I recommend playing the walking dead game ??

So much fun! Clean and busy!

Entertaining Games space ... Good customer service ... Good atmosphere to share with friends and Family ...

I told them I was going to win ???? Lava lanes is fun! Everything is expensive, including this place. But it's fun to splurge once in awhile.

Great place but a lil high on the hog for the food.

Pump up the jam vibes Great variety of bowling lanes a bar and arcade Great service

I went there for my friend's sister's birthday and had a blast sipping a few drinks in the bar and then after getting in a good headspace topped it off with Dance Dance Revolution in the arcade.

Fun place to bowl, been around since I was a kid. Food poisoning central. ordering food while bowling is a bad idea. The last time I even felt like I shouldn't order anything judging the staff by the way they were acting and against my better judgment I did .

Was my first time bowling at lava and the experience couldn't be better thanks to Raina and Jordan! The giveaways were awesome and cosmic was a blast! Will be back soon!

Always good fun for end of season employee party

Went for Sunday Breakfast and Bloody May Bar they advertise on their overhead screen. I was informed, there was no bloody Mary bar, but ordered breakfast anyway. After sometime my breakfast arrived, but was told my toast was taking longer and would arrive shortly. Ha! After at least 10 minutes I asked for it, and it was brought. The server/bartender was polite and apologetic, but, I knew by now, I wouldn't be returning.

YOOOO I haven't been to cosmic in years this was awesome prize wheel was a great idea, whoever thought of that needs props Lady in white is killer!!

We had a great time Sunday morning having the bloody Mary bar. It was okay. I would rated a 6 out of 10. We got their later around noon, and the wings were so dry that they were like jerky. The bloody Mary bar was in a very small area so as hard for more than 1 person to use it. I would definitely recommend getting their early. I'm not using the plate in assembling your bloody Mary your table. It was something fun to do on a Sunday. With nothing planned. I will say it was a Nice size bloody Mary and it was

My children had a good time, I like it because both children and adults can be entertained ? and aren't we all just some big kids?

This is a really cool bowling alley. Huge bar with tons of tvs and you can bet on horse races, apparently. They have a decent arcade, but its not great.

The worst bar staff I've ever seen. Stood in line for 15 minutes. Made eye contact with the tallest male bartender with tatoos. He didn't smile, then continued to serve other male customers behind me. Even another female noticed what he was doing. He finally asked for my order after serving 4 other people that were there after me. Only because another women practically forced him to. Won't be getting a drink here again. Not recommended if your a female, plan to be ignored. Clearly the tallest bartender disl

Arcade is expensive, but nice. Food was dang good for a bowling alley, the bar had nice bartenders and karaoke happening. There's a little something for everyone to enjoy. Depending on your spice of life. Had a good time

Best time with your family, definitely recommend!

Great service!!! Except I got catfished on a tinder date, she was a whale. Literally giant. Don't get fooled guys

Lava Lanes is a pretty cool place. The lady at the front counter didn't really seem very welcoming, nor did she really seem to know what she was doing. She was cussing and frustrated. Some of the games in the arcade were broken but were still active and took our money. The guy at the register was able to reload the card with what was taken off... but not before rolling his eyes and scoffing... not at us, but that yet ANOTHER machine wasn't working. The staff just doesn't seem to really enjoy being there. Gu

Fun great place to hang out good drinks and food

Was just at the bar, for a football game. Place was CLEAN, service was great.

I go here every weekend or every other weekend for cosmic bowling with my friends. We don't really cause trouble and most of the staff is nice to us and knows us. Some of our friends come out and just watch us bowl and to have fun with us, including our significant others. There is this one older lady that always seems to have a problem with us or in fact anyone because she is extremely rude to everyone. She is very bossy and I don't like how she treats customers and her staff, she is very unprofessional an

They are my favorite place to have a date night! The best fries, the best arcade, and so many good humans! Destiny at the front desk is always willing to help and go the extra mile!

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to this place! Worst customer service ever, food service and quality was awful and disgusting place of business. We were immediately greeted by a girl with dark hair and a random blonde mark in her hair. Totally rude and lazy!! If she had to work or do anything, it was the end of the world and just had an attitude with every customer that came to the counter. The guy who took our food order didn't even look like he was even there. He was obviously on drugs and didn't care to take

Busy, but the servers were friendly and fast!!!

If you're a family of 4, this place is not for you. They have zero concern for kids being able to bowl. They lack an appropriate amount of balls for children and ramps to help them roll the ball. Atleast they were understanding enough to refund us,after having us change multiple lanes before we even got our shoes on. Luckily they aren't the only alley in town.

Lava Lanes is a good bowling alley. It's great for social bowling, family get togethers, and also for serious bowlers, like leagues, tournaments, etc. They also have a pretty good arcade area for the kids. Come for the bowling stay for the nachos!

There were 3-4 tables with half eaten food on them the whole time we were there, and was just generally dirty. The worst part was how sticky the floor was. The whole point of bowling shoes is so you slide on the floor. The floor was so sticky I almost fell over multiple times.

The bartenders suck now the drinks are horrible . The waitresses all look like they hate their job or they hate you for asking them for ranch smh they 0kay horrible music and the talk skinny manager that's always at Joe's is a racist I swear it. The food has gone up 8n price but the quality has gone way below ground zero smh WE USED TO GO EVERY WEEKEND NOW I'VE BEEN THERE 2X IN OVER 6MONTHS .

The bar staff is always nice and it's nice to hangout there. However the young female working at the bowling counter is insanely rude. I was honestly shocked and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one who thinks this and the fact they defend her attitude in these replies is odd. Also the bathroom looked so bad I just held it until I got home. I still had fun for my Saturday night but it felt like the bowling counter girl was going out of her way to make us miserable. I hope they actually look into their staf

They had most lanes blocked off for league play. The employees were very helpful. The food choices are limited, the nachos plate was huge and overall pretty good. There is a bar inside(never went in there). Overall seems like a decent place in the valley to have a fun time.

Went to a birthday party there! The arcades great

Love the glass block wall along the walkway it's amazing. Great family place too

Your staff is disgustingly rude. They obviously hate their job. Your food is terrible now. Child size portions for a whole lot more. Don't go here if you want kind service or decent food.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
