Lakeside Pub

Lakeside Pub

Reviews Summary

The reviews show mixed experiences. Many praise the food (especially pizza and BBQ), friendly staff, and lakeside atmosphere with dock access. However, frequent complaints include slow service, understaffing, rude management, inconsistent food quality (frozen or poorly prepared items), and overpriced drinks/meals. Cleanliness and maintenance issues (bathrooms, leaks) are also noted. Positive experiences highlight great drinks and accommodating staff, while negative ones cite long waits, incorrect orders, and unprofessional behavior. The place seems better suited for drinks and casual outings than reliable dining.

Great little lake side bar! Had their 3/4 # burger and it was delicious ?? also had their pulled pork and it was good as well. Good cocktails but as a small town and lake side bar if you like fancy drinks you may need to look up the recipe

Really, most of the food was just ok. I ordered an italian chicken sandwhic. The chicken was the frozen breaded processed chicken. It's pretty disappointing. Fish was bland and very small portion. Burgers, ok. It's probably a good drinking spot. Great views. Hoping they can change the quality of the food?

Food was meh at best and took forever to come out. Service was slow for not being super busy, waited way to long for the food, and for the tab. Also it is very spendy. To spendy for most folk. I'd recommend somewhere else

Stopped in, don't know forsure if it's on the menu, but I asked for a pizza burger, as in burger, bun, pepperoni, mozz cheese, and pizza sauce. Kindly whipped it up, and it was throw down. Great job.

had such a great time here! great pizza, definitely not frozen! drinks are super good, love the arcade area. the cook that brought out my food was very prompt and respectful asking if we need anything else. wasn't too busy besides one group that was pretty rude to the staff but they handled it professionally which is always nice to see! will be back!

As a former cook here I was at first super grateful for the job but I soon learned why it was so easy to get hired. As the ONLY cook I never got time off or was able to take off time for sickness or other reasons. The kitchen is never cleaned mopped or anything sanitized. I only made my own food and it was never anything with meat unless I opened it fresh and cooked it myself. The food I made I tried my best and got great reviews from customers however they expected me to also be a sever and hand out food w

I was so excited to eat there. Last year we came and the food was so good. We were visiting Minnesota again this year and I ordered the same thing as last year. It was not the same. My dad ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and when he got the food it was a cheap bun with chicken strips on it. He picked it up and it all fell apart immediately. He was so upset they also got my Uncle?s order wrong at first. My brother and my aunt got a pizza and it was a frozen pizza not fully cooked. My dad also asked for pla

Our last outing, we stopped by the Lakeside Pub. We had appetizers and a couple cocktails. The food was very good, service was great, friendly, attentive and welcoming. I will definitely stop again on our way through Pine City. It was very relaxing!! Loved the tiki bar.

I don't often feel the need to share my negative experiences, but service has exponentially plummeted ever since Dale, the bartender left. I was shocked by the attitude and straight nastiness that poured out of sheri?s mouth. She was incredibly rude, looked me up and down, and scoffed at me when I politely asked for a refill. Not to mention the bathroom was covered in piss and she double-charged my card. You could not pay me to step foot in this location once more, really too bad.

From last year to this year this place went so far downhill I can't even see it anymore. First of all, there were 9 of us and we all got our food at different times. The pizzas were way undercooked so we just left them which we didn't even get plates for anyway but it turned out we didn't need them. They never turned the lights on in the dining area so we ate in the dark. The chicken tenders were overcooked along with the fries. Hope you don't like condiments in a bottle because all you get are packets. I s

Google: Please don't remove this review because the owners are liars. I usually only give 5 star reviews, but after my husband left me I've been rethinking my outlook on life. Sometimes businesses need a kick in the rear to step up their game. The roof leaks, the floor creaks, there's a terrible draft. The winters are harsh, the summers are brutal. Other guests have told me there's a wild man-eating clam in the backyard (Steve?s wife).

Food was great. Took a little longer but the server pulled out some toys for the kids. It was a great first time with the family

If I could give no stars I would have. Our mistake was leaving Lake Appeal from the length of the wait. This place was basically clueless on customer service. The dock was far from stable, we had to walk around passed 3 doors to find an open one, the waitress that was more capable of handling bigger groups just started and didn't know what the items on the menu contained or the initiative to find out, and the bartender tried picking a fight with us which further proves his customer service skills. My husban

If you look at the most recent review before mine you can tell the owner, Sheri, is a very rude person? as I am related to a old workers that used to work there ? she is not fair to her employees and have even mistreated her loyal customers that no longer go, do to her. She likes to put the blame on everyone else besides herself.. most of the reviews you may see of Dale are not true about him.. MATTER OF FACT HE QUIT?. She wishes she fired him.. obviously she's got her own stuff she's dealing with and needs

Not what was advertised! Very poor quality. Place needs cleaning

The food came out hot and fast. The atmosphere and the views were great. They have updated the place and we found it a great place go with an arcade for the kids, a beautiful quiet area to chat with views of the lake, and of course the regular bar area. When it is busy, you may have to use the Kiosk for ordering food, but we are from the cities, we are quite used to this. I definitely recommend!

Asked for a plain burger with no cheese, burger came out with cheese on it. Told the food runner and he brought it back. No apology. Came back 2 mins later with a cold soggy bunned burger which I'm sure was just scraped. Didn't even bother eating it. Other than that drinks were good and appetizer was good. But after reading reviews on this place it's clearly obvious owners don't have any sort of customer service nor do they care about their guests. Every bad review given has been backed up with a rude comme

This place doesn't allow dogs.. I would rather know that before me and my husband saw the huge sign outside, but website and google link don't say anything about it. I recommend have this information on your website visibly !! That would save time a lot of people who are not from this area? it's not really fun drive back and forth in this weather like idiots just because someone doesn't have important information like that on their web?.. Thanks!!

First time and last time. Been in the service industry for 35 years. I'm well aware of staff shortages so try to be patient but it was very apparent that that this was not going to be enjoyable enough to leave a good review. I did a head count and there were 33 people in there. Not enough to cause an hour wait on food. One guy was waiting over an hour for fries. Where are the managers or owners on a memorial weekend?? Truly feel bad for the one girl doing all the running. Fyi.... Sunday at 5:30

Had the brisket sandwich basket. Served with coleslaw that had very little taste. The brisket had a nice smokey flavor and the sauce was pretty good. I don't believe the brisket was brought to a high enough temperature to give it that melt in your mouth tenderness. There was no table service, you had to order at the bar. The drinks were good.

UPDATE 4/24/22: BBQ master is no longer at the Floppy, but we still like this place. Pizza is good. Friday & Saturday they have games - fun! ** Fantastic BBQ & sides! This establishment is large, so you can choose the nicer craft brew bar, or the rowdier big bar, or the dining room, or the arcade when with kids, or the outdoor patio. The bartender & owner were attentive. We will be back!

Decided to check the place out last night. It's been years since we were last there and we were all super impressed. Never had to wait for drinks, the pizza was awesome and they had a very friendly staff. The arcade is huge and fun for adults too. Definitely looking forward to going back there!

Nope! It should never take an hour for bar food, we waited 40 minutes before we even said anything and the bartender/server blamed it on the new system which I can understand if it was busy but we were the only ones in there and she could have gone back and checked on the order knowing it shouldn't take that long instead of watching us wait! Didn't even get the only beer that was ordered. Was just trying to have a birthday dinner for my 5 year old.. I've worked in food and that's just unacceptable!

I don't have high standards and takes a lot to piss me off, but this place is extremely disappointing. High prices for trashy drinks. Doubled charged for drinks on their tablets. The waitress provided great service, but the poor waitress that got humiliated in front of customers from the owners. Very unprofessional. Don't waste your time. Plus, their bathrooms smell like someone just died!

Izzy is the best bartender ever!

If I could choose no stars I would. Two of us arrived at 5:00 pm for Tacos on Thursday with two other couples. It wasn't that crowded. At about 5:30 one couple got their order. At 6:30 the other couple got their order. At 6:35 we walked out.. never got our PREPAID food. Kma

Never knew if this place. Found out about it on FB and ended up working there?? The place looks small but when you go in its very big. Great large arcade and very big lake view dinning and More. I haven't tried the food yet. But the employees are easy going and Nice??

Absolutely the worst restaurant I've ever been in. Waitress took over 30 minutes to take our order and we were the only table! Had to ask several times for drinks. Chicken came out completely raw after waiting almost an hour for our food to arrive! No apology! Waitress knew we were unhappy but did nothing. When we went to pay she insisted on sitting over our shoulder watching. Completely uncomfortable and unnecessary. Will never be back!

No waitresses - go to bar and get drinks and order food. Horribly over priced. $12.50 for 1/4 lb hamburger with a piece of lettuce and half slice of tomato. To the Owner....I was there Wednesday at 430 and it wasn't crowded. I had a California Burger and it was horribly overcooked. Anyone considering eating the food should RUN. Go to Ryders they have 1/3 lb juicy burgers for $3.00 on Wednesday nights. They also have friendly Wait Staff. A more appropriate response from the Owner should have been "I am sor

We live on the lake and thought we would give the Floppy Crappie another try. We specifically chose to go there because they have an arcade for the kids. Apparently it was closed because they had an event scheduled for the next day. This is the second time we've gone there only to find out that the arcade was closed. The first time we just left because the kids were disappointed but this time we decided to try the food. Unfortunately, it wasn't good. We ordered burgers (medium) and they were all over co

Started out with some really bad bloody Mary's. Then tried a long island ice tea that they didn't know how to make. Pizza turned out to be premade crust not hand tossed. Burger was a frozen patty and then they up charged for fries. Expensive for what you get. Had to get o u r own condiments from a table next to us. No refills offered on drinks. We went to go check out the video arcade. Roof was leaking in half a dozen places and it was dirty. Bar tender was.nice but didn't know how to mix a drink, anything

AWESOME food! Taking into consideration the employee shortage everywhere, it was top notch!

The THIN CRUST pizza is delicious. First experience: The chef wasn't feeling well and couldn't cook. They were trying to find a replacement. We didn't eat or drink here because of that. After first visit: I had initially posted my review as 2* because of bad management and staff. ALL of that has changed. Took my kids there and the new manager went to his home to get my daughter some milk to drink. Things are turning around for the better at the Floppy Crappie.

Loud and crowded. No servers even though they were busy. You had to get your drinks and food orders yourself at the bar. We asked for our appetizer first, then our dinner. After 45 minutes we were asking where our food was and we were told the appetizer is not available. Really? After 45 minutes? Then they argue with us about what we ordered and said food takes time to cook. Finally some sort of manager came over and got things taken care of. Five minutes later we have our food. 50 minutes to get overcooked

Great place to stop in for a burger and cocktails. Awesome food and drinks. The owners are very friendly.

Family friendly bar. My kid loves the arcade and we had great service from our server Lisa. She was on it. I would recommend going again. Nice bar right off the lake.

Never again. Hour and a half for our food, (the other couple with us got their pizza about 45 minutes after ordering) made our drinks wrong. Don't be fooled, that one star is because I had to choose a rating.

Have always felt positive energies and enjoyed my time at the Crappie Floppy. The Staff seem to be Great People who care about their customers along with being down to earth. A great environment to be in.

Waited 1 hr for meal. No lettuce or salad dressing at salad bar. They replaced the French dressing but forgot to replace the ranch. Had to ask the owner and bartender for butter 3 times for my baked potatoe. It was cold before I finally got my butter. She kept forgetting to bring it to us. Food was good. Maybe next time will just go for the burgers

This place needs to be gutted and rebuilt. They've had a bunch of different owners in the past 15 years and it just doesn't improve. No warm water and watered down soap in the ladies room is a big turn off for me. Food is decent, service is hit and miss and the atmosphere is tacky.

Waited an hour for appetizers to come out. Longer for meal and were told no wait staff..we had three adults 2 kids and then witnesses a worker take an order of 5 adult beverages in the same room ( arcade).. And never even asked how it's was it if we needed anything. Went to pay and she couldn't get the iPad to function to take our card for payment. Waited around and decided we put our cash together and paid so we could EXIT.... This worker was acting very strange and stumbling and mumbling to herself. Send

No table service and very slow bartenders. Food takes awhile to get to you. Place does look nice, but looks can be deceiving. Onion rings smelled and tasted like fish, and they dont serve fish. Meat raffle is worth it and pull tabs treated us right.

Music way to loud to visit. Food took 1 hour and some of our party of 8 even longer. Very poor manage of time, there were 2 bartenders and 2 waitresses but the place was busy we even moved to the dinning room at 5 or so and that was filling up also

Run Down bar. Poorly Manage, Bad Service, Smells. Just a nasty place to go. You walk in and everyone is starring at you like you shouldn't be there. They have there regular customers that live right there. And they are real winners let me tell you. The bar inside isn't even facing the lake. If your in a bar on the lake, you wanna see the lake

Been there a number of times, needs new owners or overall management. Expensive drinks with no atmosphere to back up the cost. No food to comment on but wouldn't take the risk.

We ate here last Friday for the fish fry. Awesome fish. We had a new waitress and she was somewhat slow but that was expected. Very friendly and the atmosphere definately Minnesota!

We had a great time! Friendly staff, great food and drink specials. Karaoke was a lot of fun and the views here of the lake are spectacular. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Had appettizers and cocktails. No one there when we got there so had a waitress for our 1st drink. After a few more people came we were told we had to go to the bar to order more drinks or food. (We were a party of 14). They are in desperate need of staff here! Otherwise a good experience.

Order food at the bar, takes a bit to come out but is worth the wait. The pizza burger was delicious! Fun environment too.

Recently ordered takeout from the new BBQ menu to treat our staff at Ryders Saloon. Loved the food and the new owner was very friendly. Welcome to the neighborhood!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I'm not one to judge, but we sat at the bar and had to ask for a menu after 10-15minutes of sitting. Finally got their attention and ordering and them saying ?Is that it? while we ordered a pizza and drinks. Our friend sitting next to us didn't even get services till we said something and he said ? she didn't ask for anything? food was good but will never come here again.

Been told food is good, but unfortunately don't know if it's true. Waiting to be seated without acknowledgement and finally told to get a drink at bar because wait for a table. Went to bar, came right back with a drink and someone else came in after and took the table. After almost 30 mins still no table or menu, we left.

The tacos were delicious!!! Ii we went there for bingo. The caller couldn't keep the crowd under control!!! Way to noisy!!! I got a bad headache!!

Extreemly bad service. Female Manager was rude to customers. If i was owner is start looking for new staff! Female manager called me a crackhead and male bartender just wanted to tell me all about how huge his dick was pretty sure this is sexual harassment. Multiple Witnesses to this Behavior.

Great spot for some dining with a lake view. Staff I met were friendly and on top their game. Even seen the cook out checking on people's food. They take care of you there.

My favorite bar in Pine City! Great food and drinks! Pizzas are delicious! Staff is super awesome! Best bloody in the area! Pina coladas are wonderful too! Loved the tiki bar and patio in the summer. You can drive your boat right up there!

Waitress was very nice. Other than that my wrap had two tiny pieces of chicken in it and was a ton of lettuce. Absolutely pathetic. I will never come here again. Music was screaming loud. Never ever again.

Standard bar food but very good 6 chicken strips w/fries nice looking. 8 nice drummies will go back, seen sign that says 6-9 Friday all u can drink 10 bucks have to try it see if is for real

Pizza was great - staff brought menus, which was good because their QR code doesn't work right. Nice place.

New owners, ok food, game room, scenery is fantastic, prices are a little high, but my friends say food is very good. I had the pizza burger, not impressed, but will try other food soon.

My and my girlfriend were just there didn't get greeted, no menu , and no servers to ask us about drinks I don't know if I will try again they were not even busy We did try their qr code and it would not work

Best BBQ in the area!!!! All the food is great!!! There was no waitresses but it is no big deal, the staff that was working was very nice an helpful

Great bar food! We had the Bourbon wings and Walleye fingers, both we would highly recommend and will order again!

Sherry- Owner, Thank you for the tour and your great hospitality. We appreciated your time and information. Love this place on the lake. Looking forward to celebrating a special occasion. Thank you ~ Dawn M. & Deborah Q.

It looks like my 1st review was deleted after a very snotty reply from the Owner. No Servers even though it was 4:30 on a Wednesday night and no one was there. Paid over $13.00 for a 1/4 lb dried out hamburger with a tomato 1 tsp of mayo and a half a piece of lettuce. Horrible Horrible Horrible

Had a blast at the Floppy Crappie. Drinks, food, and the environment is great. They also have dock space to pull the boat up. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area or passing through.

This place is horrible! They were out of 3 out of the 4 things we ordered. If you use the main floor bathroom you will smell it way before you get to it. The worst thing is the the staff will agree with me about all of this. Even the employees can't stand the place!

The water is nothing you want to swim or fish in, and the food isn't bad but it's exactly what you'd expect from an out of the way bar. The service was great, and the outdoor seating made you feel at home especially.

The food was burnt and was very dry ,wasn't a good experience. The wait time for food was about a hour.will try it one more time hopefully they will have a better cook.

Love this place! Lots of fun and great food! They have Bingo night meat raffles fun tiki bar in the summer! Excellent owners!

The staff here are fantastic. Really good pizza.

This place is fantastic. Great Owners. Great Bartenders. Great Cooks. Enough said go and spend the day. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic staff and great food! We had a big group there and we all enjoyed our visit! We'll definitely be back!

Always enjoy stopping in here when we're in the area. Great food and atmosphere. Nice bar and the beer is always cold! Love when the tiki bar is open!

Ordered some appetizers and everything was good. Friendly staff who made sure we were taken care of.

Good food. No table side service was very disappointing! I would have definitely spent more money if I had a server!!

$5.40 for a Coors Light. Prices are horrible. The place is terrible!!! Stay away!!!

Phenomenal place with great cooking staff and even better waitresses. Located right on the lake with their own private docks. I will certainly be returning in the future.

We had a great time. The meal was just ok and the venue could have been cleaner. Broken glass by the door coming in set a few poor atmosphere.

Visited the Floppy Crappie a few times now, both in winter and summer, and have had a good experience every time. Good drinks, good service - fun atmosphere. Will be back!

What a great find. We stayed at an air bnb on pokegama and found this spot. Great drinks, service and food. We will definitely be back on our next trip.

First time eating here!! Beautiful views of the lake. Great service!! Super neat place and the BBQ platter was AMAZING!!

Food was fantastic! Wait staff was extremely understaffed. Would definitely recommend, bbq was amazing!

My Drinking Team Has A billiards Problem! Ive seen many owners come and go. Staff here and there. New owners now..... just can't ever tell......give it time.....it's a big bar with big space on the lake!

Food was great, tried the bushwacker. Not impressed, so I shared my recipe. Bartender Christie was awesome. Will definitely be back

Very underwhelming burger. There was a mistake in our order but the cook made it right and comped us desert. I appreciate this effort.

Had brunch it was great. The place is nice with a view of the lake out the windows food is good service good bartenders friendly

A fun, relaxed place. Good food. Great owners. Love the view from dining area no matter what season????????

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
