My nephew had a blast! Syed took great care of us from start to finish! He made sure to give my nephew a great experience for his birthday! I would definitely come back!
We came with a large group, they catered well to us. One of our party wandered out of the area and bumped into a table. Their bruise lasted a couple weeks. Lesson learned, watch your friends carefully if they drift. She still says she had a great time. We parked on the street, took a while to find.
Only 1 person can play at a time, there was only 1 headset. The headset was taped up and barely worked. The game selection was very limited and the majority of our time spent was asking questions. Terrible experience! We were booked for an hour but after 30 minutes of trying to get the game to work we left. Oh and don't book a private room because there was absolutely no one else there. A complete waste of time and money!
Please read the reviews. This place is not worth it. Thank God I found a cheap groupon because if I paid full price, I would be pissed. One person plays at a time which isn't advertised and you don't play the full hour each. The headset doesn't work for at least 15 minutes but of course the guy didn't care. He wanted us off in a hour. The couches look old and worn. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
From the beginning I had a feeling the experience was going to be subpar. We entered the location located inside the Landmark theater building on Clark st. The entrance to the actual Lounge was a bit tricky because my son and I passed it and we turned around walked several stores back and there it was. As we began the VR experience I told the guy I paid for one hour for 2 people with he Groupon deal and he said we would need to switch back and forth between my son and I. I immediately thought that was inc
IF YOU BOUGHT A GROUPON, GET A REFUND. This place has the worst customer service, the guy in charge makes up rules along the way. Your entire group will share one headset & you will definitely feel like a bother/unwanted. I forgot to make a reservation & the worker stated they had nothing till 6:30pm, I went online and booked an open spot for 5pm. Then I didn't make the reservation for three, only one because it's what the website allowed & only one person got to use the VR. The entire experience was such a
We had so much fun fighting zombies, then fighting samurai warriors and finally jumping off cliffs and diving! So much fun we can not wait to go again! The staff was polite and helpful. The games are so realistic and fun. I saw a bird fly over a house,it cast a shadow as it flew! I was not it a house I was in a room with a VR set. It felt real!
My 7 year old Big Girl really enjoy herself here. They were even nice to let us run over time when we ran a little bit behind our scheduled time
Took my children, the headset was dirty and the guy stated he didn't have anything to clean it with, we had to use hand sanitizer and napkins out the bathroom, so disgusting. I won't be back. My children liked it but for sanitary reasons I won't return. Other ppl body fluids are all over that thing.
I found this place on yelp when I entered birthday family fun, and I was curious to try VR so I decided to give it a try. This was my first time to a VR place as well as my family's so we didn't know what to expect but once we arrived we were greeted by a sweet and friendly woman named Tracy she was not only informative but provided great customer service. Tracy showed us how VR worked and setup the rooms for us which was great. I booked two private rooms and she was multi tasking between my party and othe
If only I could give this place 0 stars. I had booked a reservation a week in advance for May 28th at 2pm for an hour and two people. I arrived to the address on Clark Street, and the gates were completely shuttered. I went down to the axe throwing place to see if they knew anything, and I know that I talked to them at 1:59pm. The axe folks recommended waiting a few minutes to see if the VR Lounge would open, which we did, and the place was still closed. I tried calling the VR Lounge 3 times, with the last
so glad we got a groupon instead of paying full price because this place is not worth it. the way the guy instructed us on how to use the vr device was rushed and when we asked for help, it was like we were annoying him. there was only one other couple there and he shouted instructions from the front desk. it's not private and only one person can play at a time. the place looks sketchy and the guy there acted like he didnt want any of us there
Such a great experience! Our host helped us each moment of needing assistance, all while making sure to not ignore her other guests. The games were exciting and the constant cleaning of the devices before allowing a new group to play was very welcoming during these interesting times. I will surely be coming back.
This place was great. We made a date night out of it. Chris was super accommodating. We showed up early and luckily he was able to get us in instead of making us wait. He was also really helpful at explaining the different games and giving tips as we were first timers. I would definitely suggest a 2 hour session to explore all the different games.
Went here at the beginning of a bachelor party. Had a great time. Lots of fun putting someone into a horror game and watching them crumble to the ground minutes later. BYOB really helps. The establishment is very clean and well designed. Highly recommend getting the closed door room if possible. Lastly, but most importantly TRACY IS THE BEST. She made us come back for more later and made sure we had an amazing night. Thank you Tracy!
Had a great time here. It was amazing as it was our first time. The virtual reality games are very nice and fun. They have games for all ages from 5 to older kids and adults. Customer service is great as well. We we're given good instructions and if we had any questions or difficulty, we we're helped promptly. Great for a small group of birthday parties as well. You could set up some food on the table and reserve the entire lounge containing 4 booths for 2 hours which works out good.
Okay this was my second time coming here and this time it was 100/10. Next time I will bring friends. It's definitely a workout. I was surprised with how sweaty I got. Thank you so much. I had so much fun!
If I could give a zero I would. Don't waste your money coming here. I reserved on Groupon 1hour for 4 guests. When we get here it's one headset and no multiplayer games. Then the guy couldn't even speak English I didn't understand nothing he was saying
Me and my son went and they lied to us saying there was no more reservations when there were four spots left. Also only one person could play at a time which was not advertised. The game selection was limited and not worth the price.
My husband and i came here for a fun time while we were visiting. We arrived late due to the traffic and parking. The guy at the desk was very kind and allowed us to play and even gave us extra time to make up the time we missed. We had a great time and there are a lot of options to choose from. I will definitely recommend this to any age group.
First off, if I could I'd try to get my money back. Wasn't worth the $60 price tag. Bought a $45 Groupon but they wouldn't let us redeem it on Saturday so we paid $60 for one hour. The young goofy guy working there wasn't very knowledgeable of the games. You could barely hear him when he talked. The games were freezing up on us which took away from our time. Also, the waiver signing process took away time as well. When the games would freeze, the guy working there would just stand there and watch you strugg
OMG! What a grand experience. First off, we were late coming in for our appointment. Gladly, Ms. Tracy was able to accommodate us! She provided great game play suggestions and was very knowledgeable. Her cool personality and business savvy demeanor made our experience so enjoyable. We had a blast! There are games for the entire family to enjoy ( for ages 7 + ). They offer beverages and a clean space with modern furniture. FYI, if you're the private type, consider renting out the private room for up to
What an awesome VR experience. After we went the first time, we went two more times within two weeks. Tracy was great; she's completed trials for every game and is knowledgeable enough to help the customers when they are stuck in the game. She is very friendly and accommodating! Can't wait to go back!
If you're going there with more than 2 people, don't go!!!! Had reserved a room. There is only one VR headset in each room. There should be a timer if there are more than 2 people in your reservation. It's like when you go swimming, you lose track of time when you're playing. Your time starts as soon as you're being taught how to use the machine and does not stop if there are any failures in with the machine or game. I've been to better ones that multi people can play all at the same time. Then, on top of
Had a great time here, came with my niece and nephew. Sean was great! He was very good at explaining everything to us, since it was our first time, and even let us have a few extra minutes. Great place and great staff. Will definitely be back!
This was such a fun experience! I loved the fact that when we arrived Tracy was very friendly and helpful with explaining to us how everything worked. She was attentive the entire time we were there. I booked a booth for an hour and it was only two of us so it was more than enough time. So many games to choose from! To make things even better, the place is BYOB. Perfect for a date night or just to come with a few friends. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! They also take all precautions and safety measures r
My family of 4 (daughters ages 7 & 8) visited yesterday and had the best time!!! We had a private room for 1 hour. It was fun for all! The owner is helpful and accommodating. We'll definitely be back!
We had so much fun here and I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone! There are so many games to pick from, so whether you are a in to video games or just want to try VR, you will find something fun. Tracy was so helpful getting us set up and she explained everything really well. She also did a great job of letting us play on our own and only stepped in when we were struggling, because it was our first time trying VR.
This is a good lounge to experience VR for the first time. 1 hour does feel a little short, but it's BYOB and group friendly. The 1 hour definitely includes some fun moments that make you want to come back for more. The attendants at the front were very nice and knowledgeable about their VR systems. They can point you in the right direction of what games you might want to get started with. I believe their library of games was 30+
AMAZING PLACE WITH EVEN BETTER STAFF!!! CHRIS is incredible, he is hilarious and extremely welcoming. I would love it if he worked there every time I visited Kypton; he made the whole experience so easy and walked us through everything. He gave great recommendations for games to start with, like literally, they were spot on! He asked what we were looking for and told us which games would cater to our needs. The place is super clean, comfortable and the VR equipment makes it such a realistic experience (I ge
I loved the experience, the front desk lady was great and the game selection was impressive. The only negative thing I would say is that I booked a 2 person multi-player experience and you had to take turns.......lame. besides that it was a blast and I would definitely go again.
This a wonderful experience.... with friends, family or even corporate team building events. The gear is in great shape, the facility is cool, number of games to choose from and Tracy did a fantastic job in educating about different games per our liking. Super fun... can't wait to visit again!
Great..Greatest VR experience ever. Even tough myself and my friends are not that big time gamers we had great fun at Krypton VR Lounge. This place has best ambience with low dim color lights. I recommend this place to all and try VR. Very friendly staff, they always help you if you have any questions or if you got stuck in a game. Went with couple friends - we bring our food and drinks and had fun for couple hours...cheers...
Best experience I had with the Virtual Reality game play. The zombie fight was totally promising and felt real. The staff was very helpful.
Just a couple rooms with ibuypower PCs, beat up couches, and an oculus. There was no way to wipe down the headset between uses, the equipment was falling apart and being held together with tape. One person plays at a time with no sound from the game or music for the people not playing. Skip this place and try sandbox vr down the road.
What a fun experience. Feels very futuristic the moment you walk through the door. The staff was very helpful too. I have never done anything like this before. Groups are great but exploring all the games might be best with your own room so rent 2 rooms and get more time in!
This place is fun. It's basically a bunch of computers with consumer VR headsets attached. One of your group dons the headset and everyone else can see what they're doing on a big screen. The game selection is fun and pretty family friendly (there are a few games that may not be appropriate for younger kids). The place is BYOB and they have a vending machine with soda and energy drinks. The staff is really friendly and do a great job of being present to help without interfering in your fun.
I had an absolute blast here with 5 friends. The games are fun and even when you aren't playing, watching your friends play on the screen is entertaining. We brought in pizza and drinks and had a fantastic time. Tracy(sp) was the host for the night and she was great with explaining how to play and assisting when we had an issue. I'll definitely be back to get better acquainted with VR and play the more challenging games.
Did not get an hour of vr like we paid for. The lady was extremely rude and did not come in to get us set up for vr. Her excuse we were late. Late by a minute and took her 15 min to come in and get us set up. Something doesn't add up about that situation except for the terrible customer service we got. She told us she could give us five minutes past our time and she didn't even give that. The place was not even busy with anyone in the other rooms. Won't be returning to this one?.
Not great - if you're looking to bring a group, be prepared to sit in a weird room and watch your friends take turns on a TV that is maybe 30 inches? The website advertises multiplayer games but you can't play them. A ton of the games require purchases so you can't play a ton of them. Also costs $5 a head to BYOB. Walked out feeling a bit scammed.
This place is great! It's the only one in the Chicago area, as of now, that offers such immersive VR. The host was also very nice and helpful. The place was full and had a nice atmosphere on Sat evening when me and my friends went. People were laughing and really enjoying themselves. Although there's only one headset per room, they have a TV where all of your friends can see what you are doing in VR and they can communicate with you. The place also had some nice music in the background. Honestly, though, If
Tracy was so amazing! She was such a great help and made this experience so wonderful! This place is awesome! I definitely recommend everyone come out and try this out! You will not regret it! Huge 5 Stars!
My bf and I had such a fun time here!! The girl at the desk was so nice, helpful and informative! It was surprisingly easy to get the hang of the controls (our first time going to a vr lounge) and even when you're not playing we had some good laughs watching each other play! Beat saber was awesome! Definitely a cool and exciting date night idea!
DONT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!! Their headset didn't even work. It looked and smelled nasty. I was not going to sit or use that headset. The website advertised as a multiplayer game but only one person can use it. EVERYTHING WAS MISLEADING! it was just some guy basement with VR set up to a tiny tv. like bye I should have check the reviews before going
Given its a VR place there is no expectations that the place will be stunning. It's a dark space with a reasonable waiting area. The VR rig is high quality, but they should consider some kind of 'training' video/introduction while your are waiting because you spend the first 10min of your session trying to figure out how it all works It's promoted as a group event space with monitors for others to watch. I went by myself and the hour went by fast. Once I found a game I wanted to play only got to run 3 eve
I recently visited krypton VR lounge. Pretty neat spot. I went with my girlfriends on a Friday night and had a blast! Loved that we were able to bring in some wine and play together. The staff was super friendly and helpful- as I had a lot of questions because it was my first time at a virtual reality spot. I will definitely be having a girls night out at krypton VR again! I highly recommend this little gem :)
This place is awesome! My girlfriend and I will definitely be going back! The owner is super nice and accommodating; he got us all set up to play and we ended up staying longer than planned. So much fun!
This place was absolutely awful! I came with a group of 12 for my son?s birthday. We reserved two private rooms, only one vr machine was functional in the entire unit. They have 3 private rooms and two open suites but only one machine worked. It took at least 30 minutes to get the working one up. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all.
This is my first time reviewing any establishment. The experience was bad enough for me to actually take the time out and write this. Yes, the place itself is nice. However, the staff member who was there was very rude and unhelpful to us. She even counted HER setting up the equipment against our time there. I know others wrote great reviews, but my experience was not like that. I wont be coming back.
Had an amazing time! went with adults of all ages and it was fun for everyone! the staff was very polite and helpful, and we even extended our time to stay longer! definitely will recommend to friends and will come again!
I love this place! I've gone a couple times with a big group and we rented out the space. The games are fun and Tracey is awesome!!! They are super accommodating and want to make sure guests to have a good time. They also allow byob and you can bring/order food.
This was the best experience ever!!! Syed led us through everything and was so helpful, fun and kind! I suggest trying the Google Earth view where you can go anywhere in the world and walk around like a giant! We will definitely be recommending this to all of our friends!
Got there and the lady told us some of the headsets wasn't working. My boyfriend and I had to share a controller after we already paid over 60 dollars for the game which was absurd. My boyfriend went to adjust the headset and the thing came apart the lady tried to say he broke it. However if it broke from a simple adjustment it was already broken like their other faulty equipment! I will never go to this place again and I don't recommend it
IF I COULD GIVE THIS BUSINESS ZERO STARS I WOULD. I HAVE TO GIVE AT LEAST ONE STAR TO LEAVE A REVIEW. I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MERCHANT, SERVICE, HOW THE LOUNGE LOOKED AND SMELLED. I HAVE PURCHASED 2 FOUR GROUP WEEKEND SESSIONS $36 APIECE. WE GET THERE TO BE TOLD ONE PERSON WILL BE PLAYING AND THE OTHER 3 HAD TO WATCH. IF OTHER PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY THE MERCHANT SUGGESTED WE SPILT IT 15 MINUTES SO ALL FOUR PLAYERS GET THE EXPERIENCE. I EXPLAINED TO THE MERCHANT THAT'S NOT WHAT THE INFORMATION SA
Great experience! Super helpful staff! Fun even for first-timers!
Syed was really pleasant! It was Christmas Eve and I imagine he had better things to do but he was very inviting, helpful, and made the experience amazing for my sisters and I. One who came from out of town. Will be back!
Had a lot of fun with our group of four. We had a few glitches, but they compensated with a few extra minutes. There's a big screen for spectators so you can see what's going on. BYOB @ $5 a cup. But remember, you are doing VR. Will definitely go back, we laughed a lot!
Had organized my son?s birthday party. All the kids and parents had blast, even the staff were so helpful. The best part was everything was sanitized and cleaned regularly. Overall we will be visiting this place again
Great place for a date! Me and my boyfriend went and had so much fun. The lady at the front desk made sure that me and my boyfriend knew how to play and even showed us the controls for the Vr. I enjoyed this so much. Even got motion sickness from playing intensely. I recommend the plank game!
So this was my second/first time doing VR. The first time was a 5 minute session somewhere and I was very intrigued so I had to come here. The place is nice, open area (which makes sense), clean, and a very friendly and helpful staff. Great game selection (Loved the Spiderman Far From Home Experience!). Always into video games when I was a kid and too busy as an adult to keep up but I could probably play at least a full hour by myself. Super fun experience and a lot of games I wish I could of tried but wi
Kids and I had a great time. It takes a while to get use to how the game/set up works. However, staff is very attentive and helpful. A bity pricey but if you use the groupon, You can get more value for your money.
This location was very nice and clean, the attendant was very helpful to my party. We had lots of fun, there was a large variety of games and experiences to enjoy. Great spot to tryout VR for the first time or to sample new games.
I read some of the bad reviews. Not at all what I experienced. The lady was very nice. She explained everything to us as it was our first time and stopped in from time to time make sure everything was going smoothly. She even gave us extra time!!
Hard to do business with. Walked in one day, and was informed they didn't have any openings for a few hours. No problem, I figured I'd try again another day. So I booked an appointment on the website, as the guy behind the counter has suggested. But when I showed up, the door was locked, with a note in the door saying "back in five minutes". I was 15 minutes early, so I waited around for a bit. I finally called the number one the website, but it went to busy signal. I waited around a half an hour before I
What. A. Blast! Came here for a double date night on a Groupon discount for the first time on a Thursday evening. It's BYOB with $5 charge per person ("corking fee" - includes plastic cups), which makes for a chill and inexpensive time out. Each open room is set up a bit like a living room with small sofa and chair and some shelves to store personal belongings and holds 1-4 people. Very cozy, and great for chatting and watching the actions of the 1 who is plugged into the VR set up - IRL and digitally.
Great place. Took my brother to VR for the first time and Semeer (general manager) made a memorable experience. He let us finish out with a little extra time which is really nice. Very informative, all in all, great place, will definitely come back again!
took my seven year one nephew. he loved it
I've become a frequent visitor to Krypton because I always have so much fun! The main staff member, Tracy, works tirelessly to ensure everyone has a good time and understands the system. She encourages everyone to try new games and challenge themselves. The atmosphere is exciting and lively and I encourage people of all types to visit. You won't want to leave!
Amazing place! My boyfriend and I went to the location on Halsted, near the Michael's store first. The host at the counter was very nice and funny and we joked around a bit. Super friendly vibe. Then my boyfriend and I just happen to walk into this lounge on Clark like months later from the other location and the same nice lady was there too! She remembered us and again was super helpful and nice. This location is A LOT bigger than their Halsted location and it still has that friendly fun vibe about the pl
This place is amazing for both kids and adults! We were there today and the owner spent so much time helping us get setup and helping our kids with the various games available. We had so much fun and our 7 and 10 year old are begging to go back!
This lounge, one of the first and certainly the best in the Chicago area, is great. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the systems actually WORK! When there have been problems during my several visits, the staff have been able to immediately fix them.
I've been here a few times and each time was a great experience, all of the headset's worked and extremely rarely had any glitch with the equipment, and when we did have a problem they new how to fix it in a instant. All the games where great and they new how the game worked and could help whenever you got stuck.
The best place to spend a night with friends! New or experienced in VR, it's bound to be a good time. Tracy is extremely helpful and generous with her time explaining the equipment. Everyone is very knowledgeable about the games and they have a great selection, and there's no other VR lounge in Chicago that does it better.
The attendant was not super helpful. In the beginning we were the only ones there. More people showed up later but he was just as preoccupied it was my group of 3. It was fun tnough. Clean and comfortable.
I highly recommend Krypton for a family activity choice. It is a professional VR game room that can offer multiple players who log on to the same game or play individual games at personal preference at the same time. Tracy was very knowledgeable about all the functions of games; with her assistance, I advanced games further to discover the excitement of what the game was offering.
The equipment is good (it's wireless Vive headsets). They have a wide selection of games (all in Steam VR). The atmosphere/vibe of the place is funky and cool. The customer service was ok-to-good. Prices are pretty good: $45 for an hour.
What an awesome place!!! We had such a fun time and really got some great instruction from the host about how to use the equipment so I felt like pro almost right away! My favorite is "Space Walk" and "Beat Saber"
Great venue, make sure to check out Groupon for discount. Staff is exceptional, attentive, friendly and very helpful. BYOB for $5 a person. Games are a lot of fun. Try Beat Saber and Virtually Impossible.
It wasn't a pleasant experience the Girl working there got tired of helping us switch VR games. But if she explained it better we could do it ourselves. My little nephew was hesitant to ask her anything after that, which made me upset. It was our first and unfortunately our last visit. Also it's not as big as I thought so when you play you have to stay in this box area (which is tough to do when you play) also it's not cordless so keep in mind the cord will occasionally get in your way. But I really enjoyed
For what it is and the only one of its kind it's not bad. If you go with a group and you have an hour timeslot just know you have to share that hour slot amongst all of you. If you want a private room you will have to pay extra. The regular rooms are closed 3/4 of the way but the back is in full view of everyone. They have TV's that allow you to see what the current player is seeing and doing.
Made a reservation for 2pm on a Friday and it was closed, even though they were supposed to be open at 12pm. I tried two different phone numbers and one was disconnected and the other didn't have an option to leave a voicemail. I wrote an email asking for a refund and haven't received a response, so I'm filing for a refund through my credit card company.
This is a great place to check out VR. With a wide selection of games and a fun/lively atmosphere, I'm happy Krypton is in Chicago. It's also easy to get to off the Belmont stop. I would recommend highly to anyone, gamers and non-gamers alike.
Went there for first time, Tracy was super nice, walked us through, answered all questions. Even extended few more mins so we can play longer, helped us in between games, highly recommended, super fun for kids and adults, great concept.
Fun games, helpful staff! I like to come here for guys' night out.
This was my first time trying VR and I didn't know what to expect, but it was a blast! I came with three friends and none of us are gamers. We had so much fun playing and trying all the different games! A really immersive and cool experience and I can't wait to play again!
It's a cool experience. 4/5 because the VR set smells like BO. The sponge/cloth absorbs all the face sweat from other past players and it seems like they don't clean it good enough. They need to find a way to clean it thoroughly so that it doesn't stink!
If you're looking for a super fun night out - check out Krypton! Spent 2 hours here with a group of 3 and it was awesome! They have really high quality VR gear and tons of different games. Makes for a really unique, fun night!
Tracy was awesome, she explained everything and was very helpful. My husband and I had a blast. We will come back for sure! Thank you!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
