Edit: I dropped by again recently and honestly I'm pretty disappointed. The prices really aren't competitive, which I can understand when you need to worry about rent and bills. But prices can vary from $35 for Lego Island for the PS2 to $70 for Sonic Shuffle or $160 for a Gamecube. Now it's clear the store has been making big upgrades recently. Unfortunately it's not things like disk resurfacers, new display cases so they don't have to stack expensive games on top of each other, or bulk buying replacement
Really wanted to come by and show support but prices on some games are just a little wonky. I am willing to pay a premium to support a local business but that only goes so far, if you are asking the double the cost of a bnib copy for a used game it is hard for me to accept that. Cool inventory though and hope to stop by next time im in Philly.
I Loved the family business vibe ?? but the guy behind the counter was so Rude. I would never buy anything or visit this store again. Money Hungry ?? I was Disgusted with the service and the experience I had with my Nieces and Nephew. Sad. So sad
Great spot for any retro game fans! Anytime I'm in the area I stop by to pick up a game for my Super Nintendo, Wii, or my DS. Staff is very friendly and it's very easy to spend a long time in there exploring or just talking about games! Very wide selection in general, highly recommend to any gamers who find themselves in south Philly
Very fair prices. I don't know what people expect from a brick and mortar in the middle of a major US city, but prices comparable to ebay is VERY reasonable. Especially when you can inspect the product and they have very easy returns. Also in a nice new space with decent selection and organization, so you can ignore a lot of earlier reviews. I do wish they didn't have gambling machines.
My name is Romeo and I myself own a video game store in Los Angeles, CA called LA Video Gamed and I must say as a collector and store owner, that this video game store is awesome. The location is small but humble, so going through the video game inventory will be a breeze. The inventory selection is great! You can find common games to rare games from retro to modern. The store associate was super nice and very attentive to my questions or video game needs which shows they have great customer service. During
Pretty decent cheap prices for videos games and consoles but it's hard to find if you not from south Philly.Whenever I'm in South Philly it's a 90% chance of me going back
Fair prices, and most importantly doesn't use stickers that leave residue
Very nice location, shelves are organized well and any misplacements are done by customers lol. Games are reasonably priced, and there's lots of stuff in stock from the 80s to now. Though modern stuff is definitely on the comparatively thinner side, just go to GameStop or order online if that's what you need after some good retro shopping here. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. I've so far gotten copies of Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, and they all play perfectly, so I can o
Very friendly staff was super helpful and games were fairly priced. I'd say they were around they tracked with the average ebay price. Biggest difference is you can actually test out the game there and make sure it is working before you buy it.
Very cool family runs the place and have great gems of old games for a reasonable price. If you looking for vintage stuff good place to drop by.
Nice range of games and consoles! Definitely recommend checking them out! You never know what kinds gems you might find!
this place is horrible vibes are bad prices are overpriced and bad dont come here unless you want to waste money
The pricing at this place is totally off base. They are charging $60 for a brand new official Microsoft Xbox Series controller even when the same controller is only $50 brand new on Amazon. When I pointed that out to them (including providing proof) and asked if there was any room to negotiate on their price, the person in the store became rude and hung up on me
Originally I give it zero Stars because I had bought a PlayStation 2 system from the store I took it home and when I had turn the game on the disk train was half broken and the system wouldn't read the game disc then when I took it back to the store I told the owner what happened and I asked can I have my money back the owner said they don't do refunds that's their store policy but he gave me another PlayStation 2 system and he told me in order to play the video games on this system I have to turn on the ga
Really helpful staff. Some games are overpriced.
I travel out of state to a lot of game stores. I don't want to mess up anyone?s business and the young guy who helped me was nice, but I regretted spending my time stopping here, on a long trip with limited time to stop at various stores. It was not an impressive store. The selection was not good. The smell and air quality was bad, which I normally never find in a video game store. A little uncleanly, but not real bad. The glass displays were cleaner than items on the floor. It almost felt like I was
It's ok. If you want to get ripped off go here. They do have some old school gaming systems that's pretty cool but nothing you can't get cheaper online. Normally I'm all about supporting Mom & Pop stores but when Mom and Pop start acting like Target or some Corpo you might as well go to Gamestop or Ebay. Also what "gaming" store sells moody gold? Like "let me get that new ( used and repacked) PS5 and that fake gold ring you got there" smh.
Many clasic games are there If you still use old consoles like Wii or Ps3 or older, you can find a lot range of games.
Better than expected got a third party controller for PS4 got 2 wins on stream the next day the prices are solid go check them out
Great people, very knowledgable on all the new and legacy game systems. Very honest about trade in prices, not to mention, maybe the best game selection around the Philadelphia area.
I've been here a few times and haven't bought much because the prices are terrible. I'm willing to pay at least $5 above price to support local but their prices are crazy sometimes
I would give less stars if possible. I just recently purchased a ps4 slim from here..I asked about a warranty and the chubby dude said 30 days... within two weeks my ps4 just randomly keeps shutting off..I take it back and the guy refused to even talk to me unless I showed him a paper receipt. However I did show him my digital receipt which I opted for.. he said the digital receipt wasn't valid lol bro it's 2021... he then asked me to leave the store then pressed an alarm and it got loud so I called the cop
Great store. Good service and great place to find those games no one has anymore if you're looking for such games. Highly recommend.
Oscar is friendly and helpful and willing to make a fair deal. The stock of quality games and hardware is decent. The sounds coming from the arcade machine being played in the back while I browsed through the old N64 and GBA cartridges gave the whole place a vibe reminiscent of the old days when I would just hang out in the local video game store.
I really do like this store, just wish they had more Dreamcast and n64 games. I also understand that its prolly hard to get em so I can't complain too much.
Pretty neat. Store is a little on the small side, but you'll find loads of older types of games here, PS1, GameCube, Atari, etc. but they also got a couple of the newer console games too. I recommend you give em a look!
Friendly service but very lackluster collection
This store is one of the only places I can find PS2 games and more retro games in perfect condition. I found Legacy Of Kain: Defiance (the best one in the series), Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Shadow of the Colossus, and even the super rare Dark Cloud 2. Hardcore gamers in Philadelphia MUST visit.
I rarely give bad reviews, but this was like a graveyard! The people inside barely looked at me. Everything I saw wasn't in good condition, even everything seemed damaged. The worst video game shop I've ever been too. King? Really.
I went there while visiting my Sister at Temple and I found Super Mario Bros 2 for 39.99 Complete in the BOX! It was an amazing deal along with other boxed games they had for around the same price! Gotta check it out if you're a collector or gamer!
Possibly one of the most difficult game store I have been to. Firstly the owner never seems to be there in fact I had to visit the store recently and have not seen him. Second I bought an nes from him at the cost of $80 when I brought it home it had a purple screen and I brought it back. No where on the receipt does it say no refunds and there is a very tiny sign at the store behind a shelf that you would never notice that states the policy. After two more nes I eventually gave up and was forced into choosi
Place attempts to GROSSLY buy items brand new by 90%less, then tried to sell the same item to a friend for close to the original selling price ? if you are going to go here please do so with the utmost trepidation
Decent selection of games, but prices are definitely on the high side ($30 for Shaq Fu on the Genesis? Really?). The owner is a VERY nice guy, though. He will talk to you about games for as long as you want to. He is willing to negotiate a bit on prices.
I texted the owner a giant list of PS2 games, and he said he only had one. So I go to the store to pick it up, and I see another game I want. I go to the counter, and wait to see if they had the disks. Spoiler, they didn't. Also, I saw a PS2 Controller I wanted, and it was $20. $20!!! I could buy a PS2 Controller of of Amazon for $8! Avoid this place!
Pawn shop in the front, video games in the middle, and movies in the back. Weird place. Very cluttered and kinda musty inside. There's one glass case filled with rare games but i thought they were mostly overpriced. As usual with a used video game store, there were lots and lots of sport titles.
Shopkeeper wasn't there and had his kid nephew handling customers. Kid had to call the owner for literally everything and expects ebay prices for his stuff. Sold me an expensive game and refused to refund me even though the game didn't work and turned out to have rusted insides due to water damage. Insisted on me exchanging for more of the grimey untested trashed stuff and forced a policy that he wasn't there to explain and didn't have on any receipt. 100% against ever going back to that store. They're exp
Great selection of video games, prices seemed on the high side. Would like to stop back in and bargain for a bulk deal and see what happens. Organization for the games could be better, but there seems to be a little bit if everything. I only passed through while in the area and will check back in.
Such a big disappointment. The game has all the titles you want but prices out way too much. The owner uses a website to check prices but refuses to say which website he uses and just doesn't give off any positive vibes at all. I will be taking my business elsewhere, for sure. Such a major disappointment. And no, you do not have the best prices in Philly
The place is cool all types of games and systems , they cost a lot but it's a small business they need to stay open.
Cozy shop with modest/good prices, really happy to have a retro-game shop in Philly! :D
It's ok. I bought a season of nip tuck here. The first disc of the season was replaced with a foreign Spanish movie. If you go, check to make sure everything is correct. Nice people though. That's? the only reason I gave it two stars.
Don't know what these other reviews are talking about. The prices are higher than gamestop's and thats if you can even find anything in the mess they call a store. The staff dont speak instead they just stare at you the entire time you're in the store and make you make feel uncomfortable.
Some of the worst prices I've ever seen on vintage games. Referencing Shaq Fu like the earlier review - it's under $12 CIB on eBay. Atari games that are $2 on eBay are $10+ at this place. Such a joke. Buy on eBay and save a ton of money.
broken product would give 0 stars
Avoid at all costs. I purchased a 3DSXL, a 3DS, Pokemon Snap for the N64 and N64 av cables for $300. $130 for a used 3DSXL in okay condition which I was unaware of sells for $100 anywhere else. BUT THATS NOT EVEN WHY I'M WRITING THIS. The problem i went into the store with was because the other 3DS when turned on would say something about a firmware patch and shut down. I went back into the store on my next day off which was 3 days after i originally purchased it. I asked for an exchange, that was it. I did
Disorganized, messy. Overpriced. Even rare games that were understandably more expensive were just priced insanely high. Many weren't even in the best of shape. Not the best selection.
These guys in the store so unprofessional,I mean no help at all.. gives me they don't like certain ppl Vibez,if y?all know wht I mean!!
Great place had a great time there the owner was very knowledgeable and cool he has some of the most awesome stuff I haven't seen in years boxed retro videogames and consoles plus he has some great arcades in there King's is where it's at for video games in all of Philly
An ok selection of games but decent prices not so many games but slot of consoles. The sorre owner even let me test the game and want through alot of trobel just so I can make sure it works
great store for retro and new video games. there is a little bit of everything for everyone. they have from atari, nintendo, super nintento, n64, gamecube, wii and wiiu. sega, dreamcast and many more. also ps1, ps2, ps3 and ps4. xbox, xbox360, and xbox one. the prices are very reasonable and got a great deal on a super nintendo with games. and picked up a ps4 and games for my son. will be back for shure.
This store was incredible, bought Skylanders here with my friends and the prices were incredible, and so were the service. I reccomend here 10/10!
Very cluttered, kind of all over the place. And their prices were WAY too high for old systems like the wii and GameCube. They were selling them for the same price the games were when they first came out... kind of dumb.
Slightly overpriced but this is a physical location so it's odd that anyone thinks it should be any otherway, fun lil collection of older and newer games, always worth popping in for one or two things and to check out the very fun music video DVD collection that is a bit challenging to browse.
I was very excited to visit this place that I heard great things about but if I had the chance to give a 0 I would don't waste your time going to this place horrible selection stuff is just everywhere never again
Excellent place for vintage video games of all sorts, with very competitive pricing. Personable family business with very nice people to help!
They really have all these games ! from retro classic to the most recent games, for all consoles, they have snes 64, nes, games cube, ps, ps3, ps4, they have all xbox, and he also has other electronic stuff, movies he also has, i highly recommend to come check it out ! the staff is very friendly and kind.
Got a GameCube that works fine but the game selection and price point won't have me returning to this store in the future.
Can't get anyone to tell you store hours. Online hours aren't accurate. They close hours before the time it has online. Can't get anyone to answer the phone. Might be a Great store, but unfortunately I won't find out for sure.
Prices are beyond ridiculous and the whole store ia cluttered and dirty with stuff just piled everywhere. There's just enough room behind the counter for the owners to stand and stare at you while you browse
Friendly environment, great deals! and wonderful customer service!
Took an Uber to see the place and the sign out front said "for rent" doesn't look like they're open anymore.
Awesome selection of retro games at great prices. They also have MVS cab if you want to play some classic SNK games.
Prices are way too expensive for a bunch of used stuff that you don't even know if it works
Sold Mr. King my collection of old video games he pays top dollar for them if I find any more of my old video games I know where to go to make more money when your down on your luck
Los of different games from past to present day
They had a electric guitar And my girlfriend wouldn't stop singing and playing lol he even cut down the deal because she played so well lmao great time
The owner was very help ful and knowledgeable wish they had GTA vice city for xbox but found a wide selection of titles to choose from
Great place found what i was looking for great prices everybody come down king video game if you looking for any video game old or new
I felt like I have gotten taken advantage of I will be better next time I decide to sell my video games to this store.
King DVD's is a great store I buy lots of cool games here prices are awesome as well!
great video games store. great prices. and lots of retro games. will be back soon.
Poor selection, outrageous prices, but the staff is okay. Not worth the trip or time.
Staff is friendly and somewhat flexible on prices, no problems with any products purchased there.
The ultimate retro gaming store. ????. They even got the neo geo console. If you know anything about that.????
Lots of stuff if you have any console, except a GameCube (which is what I was looking for). They also have lots of DVDs. Overpriced though.
Super cluttered. Has games for pretty much the same price you can get them brand new.
Very rude workers, didn't even greet me when I walked in.
Came down here on my day off for it to be closed. Picked up the phone right away to tell me they open on Monday. Update hours online then. Wasted my whole morning
Nice guy and nice prices for the games, not a lot of selection though.
Good customer service, and friendly environment.
like a hidden gem. has the cool retro gaming stuff i love it
Place was a mess it was clean but messy they also sell other stuff besides just video games games were a bit over priced and the door was tied shut with rope
Fixed my PS5 in 2 days. Works great now!
Great spot for current and retro games/systems. Also offers repair work.
A good choice of games but the store could be more organized and more presentable.
One of the last remaining non GameStop in Philly. Definitely worth a visit.
IT WAS LIKE COMING BACK TO WEN I WAS A CHILD SO MANY MEMORIES. GREAT STORE.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
