I'm updating my review after seeing some inaccurate comments from others. Here's a more balanced perspective: * Laps: You do get 12 laps. However, in a race, if you're lapped twice, you'll finish with 10. This is standard racing procedure. * Speed Control: Yes, the staff can adjust your kart's speed based on your driving. If you consistently drift or crash, they'll reduce your speed for safety reasons. This is also normal racing practice. * Staff: The staff is incredibly friendly and inclusive. They'r
This was fun. The carts are very quick and you can maneuver very well with them. The only downfall is it is a little pricey. I would have given 5 stars if it was a little more affordable. I know there is probably a lot of overhead and the reason for prices. Overall I had a great time!
I went with a group of people today for a work event. Not only was there specific staff being extremely immature and rude, but multiple people in our group got denied food/drink service without an explanation as to why. They were denied drinks even after racing and even people who knew our group but weren't in it were also denied drinks. Someone in our group asked for a different food option for themselves because the food ordered wasn't something they personally enjoyed, and they were denied that as well.
Wow!!! What an experience of go karting here. Both adult and junior level go karts are available. Price totally justify the experience. You get ten laps for 1 race. Proper walkthrough given before the race. You got to organize and celebrate birthdays. Not sure if they can order food.
Paid $78 for three races and had issues every race. My kart kept shutting off, one had a flat tire, no time tracking, and speeds were clearly limited despite us being experienced drivers. One staff member (red-haired woman) gave me attitude for brushing dirt off a tire, then tried to unbuckle my lap belt for me?which made me really uncomfortable since the buckle was right at my groin. Overall, a disappointing experience. Won't be back.
Our grandson (almost 7) has talked about his excitement to visit this fun stop ever since we found it back in January! That quick stop turned into hours of memory making for him (& us)! Now, we go again today as an excited side-adventure to our week at Mayo for Nana. I have no doubt this K1 pitstop will be a great kick off to summer vacation & give him something to talk about with his Papa for the best distraction from this week of doctors... oh, to be 6 again and driving a racecar!
Karts and staff are fun and good! Driving is based on size, not skill. 1-2 bad drivers at the faster speed can ruin a session unfortunately. Overall had a great time
The place is wonderful. The racing experience was as my son and friends said "sick" which I guess means amazing. The race scheduling was mediocre at best and I am disappointed that we were made to wait 2 hours for the first race because other groups were ahead of us but when new groups came in, they were scheduled in between pur races, not a good job there.
Had a great time with the McDivitt group. Unfortunately not sure why the gals in group could not drink tho. None of them were planning on driving the carts. For my first time there i was impressed with the staff because most of the group i was with were pretty intoxicated. Might have to bring a few sober people down but definately plan to visit again.
Music was a little loud and not the kind I'd listen to but had a good time and the cars worked really good. To have the drivers tap the car in front of you in the pit not a good idea because some of them were ramming the car in front and caused my son?s head to whip back and hit the seat. He ended up going home with a headache. Ultimately, we had a great time fast track, and worth the race.
I would leave zero. Middle of the 2nd set of races old man salt and pepper beard works there starts cussing and screaming and instigating a fight and he works there absolutely most unprofessional employ I've ever seen at a public place we paid to race at. Other younger guys said they didn't even understand what his problem was will never go back or recommend that place again been there 3 other times
Place was neat but way overpriced. They also didn't have any food. They should include arcade in that price. I ended up paying almost $400 for my son's 8th birthday. For only one race, and a few minutes of arcade fun.
I provided a video of the owner being rude and unprofessional. Unfortunately back again to give a 1 star review. I've never encountered a more rude owner of a business in all my life. Took my 15 yr old son here today and he wasn't let know that he'd be racing alone in a race. He was very confused and did not have a good time. Who would have a good time racing alone when you go to RACE?? The owner proceeded to get very rude and snippy with me, telling me it wasn't his responsibility to let us know he'd be r
I Took a total of 9 young men for the walk-in experience. Tried to fo through corporate in California for a package deal. They called at weird times and did not email me back. Left a strange message, pushing their Food/Gamecard package. (Not a value) Instead, we paid $419 for my 6 and my friend paid $209 for hisself and his 2 boys. The staff knew we were together as a group of friends. It was not packed on a Sat at 1:30pm. Did they let us race together? Nope. Did we get 5 min to relax between races? Nope.
A need for speed. Got to try this awesome place out during a birthday party. It was a great time for the entire family from 8 to 68. There was close to 30 people in our group. They broke it up into adult and kid races and even changed up your fellow racers the second time around so you got to race with lots of friends. It was my first time and it was great. A little scary at first but once you get out there and get a few laps in you will love it.
Absolutely loved it. Had a great time and lots of fun. Look forward to some of the arcades machines being fixed, especially your VR system.
Went for a kids bday party and the experience was great the kids had a BLAST so that meant the absolute most to my family BUT the food service was absolutely HORRIBLE...... the party in itself was already expensive and then to have the food come out being bad and they were all hungry was just disappointing ?? when the staff member came and asked he clearly stated they forgot about our food and left it in the warmer too long my fist thought was if you knew that and you know how much we are spending why didn
Great spot, the guys were really helpful with the karts and we pretty much had the track to ourselves so we really enjoyed that. It's a little out of the way but other than that I plan to go back when in the area.
Used to go here all the time when it was MB2 and Pole Position. First time back with new ownership and very disappointed. There were 6 of us in our group and they wouldn't allow us to spread out and were always bunched up. Since it's smaller track we were constantly bumping and pitting each other not on purpose. Workers were constantly threatening to remove us from the race and kick us out and continued to not let us spread out but stay bunched up. During the race they control and change ur speed constantly
The group had a real fun time ages 14 to 63 the birthday extra laps was a good touch
Always clean. I think the front desk staff might need more training since they seemed pretty unsure of what they were doing leaving a couple people out of races. We didn't like how the kids didn't have even a full lap to get the feel for the cars before they knocked them down to slow speed. They usually do a good job laying attn but we saw a car stuck on the track for longer than should've been before getting noticed by workers. There was a crash too that damaged a car and it was noticeable but took them a
Had a birthday party reservation at 2:30pm for 3pm race. Still sitting here at 3:45pm in a mostly empty building and haven't had 1 race. Very disorganized and ran by children.
I had a great time for the first 3 laps. I was in second place about yo pass the 1st place driver, then the motion sickness hit and i had to slow down to keep from loosing my lunch. I finished the race and was told yo go back to check in to get a refund of the 2 races that i didnt run. I am very satisfied with the overall experience and will gladly recommend this to any and everyone.
Raced with my Mom earlier this year, and had a great time. It was like $75 or 80 bucks total tho, way too much for one race. I would have liked to do more, but it didnt seem like that great a deal to buy more, plus we aint rich. Also, the rules are a bit much. Like, let people that clearly know how to kart, with only 2 karts on the track, get their money's worth. I was flagged down after 7 or 8 laps or so to end the race, with no warning sign ever being raised. So that sucked. They didn't say anything about
A great experience, awesome staff!! Best go carts I've ever driven!
A very fun place to go! The go karts are super fast and the track is fun. There is also an arcade to have something to do while you wait for your next race!
It was my first time there with a 13 year old and his friend. The staff did an excellent job explaining everything to us, the equipment was in excellent shape, and the facility was quite clean. We got some helpful pointers from a few of the other participants and we all had a great time. I'll definitely be back.
This place is absolutely phenomenal! My daughter and I were the only ones on the entire track!!!!! K1 Speed employees were professional, respectful, and used kindness and humor. Kudos to the setup this company has going on. Prices are a bit steep but that's understandable with everything that really goes into it if you think about it.
Clean place. Safety was a top priority for them. Front desk staff could have been more helpful but the two guys running the cars/course were great! Cars were a little cramped if you're tall at all but still pretty fun. I'm 6'3" and it worked ok.
Groupon made this easy. However, if you use a Groupon, it's 1st come 1st serve. Only if you book online for full price can you make a reservation. We didn't have any issues getting in in a timely manner. The racing is fun, and surrounding arcade games are great. One drop game was stuck, and we notified the attendee just for awareness. He followed up by adding 1000 tickets to our card. Mind you, we don't go to get tickets and merchandise, but it was super nice if him. Must be 13 + to drive the fast cars. U
The carts are cool and fast, but the appeal ends there. This is not a cheap experience by any means. The prices you see when you walk in the door (~$48 for a single session!) only apply AFTER you buy your 'race license' (a fancy phrase for a year membership). There are also discounts given if you by multiple sessions, but those can't be split between multiple riders. It cost us ~$180 for 3 people to ride two sessions each. The track management is also poor. There were way too many people on the track d
I had a terrible experience. We did not get a fair treatment at all. Our speed was controlled and the reason was that we couldn't control. A speed we didn't have to begin with. We didn't get to do the 12 laps, and we were following the guidelines but still got the worst treatment. There were kids that raced before us and they were bumping into each other every other second. They didn't have their speeds controlled. We paid so much money and it wasn't fair. They should treat everyone fairly.
I had a very fun time, all the staff were super helpful and friendly. The karts did not disappoint either. 10/10 will be visiting again
First time being there with my son who goes often. It was so much fun!
The experience was great. The pricing is a bit high for as short as the races are. Had a blast otherwise.
Excellent General Manager- kind, professional & caring. Employees communicate well & work together to fix any issues... big or small... fast.
My son loves coming here. He was able to have the track all to himself and go as fast as he wanted with no one in the way. My husband enjoyed a race against his friend as well. Then they added a new virtual reality section. It was awesome to watch them play. Employees were nice as well. Come every year at least once.
I used to enjoy this place but the staff has ruined it for our family for a 2nd time. We drove from 2 hours to get there and were turned away. We tried to schedule some races for my sons birthday on a Wednesday for the following Saturday morning and the guy at the desk wouldn't allow us because we only had 6 people and not 8. I would have glady paid for 2 extra people just to be able to schedule the races. He told us that they didn't have any parties scheduled for Saturday, so he wanted us to show up right
New ownership is terrible. My son had a faulty brake slowing the kart way down and they would not give him another race. They claimed he was riding the brake. Why in the world would he ride the brake when he wanted to go a fourth time to try and get the best lap time of the week and has raced motocross since he was 5??? What a joke, save your money and spend family time another way.
We went today for my son's 13th birthday party. We had a blast. The staff handled the party reservation and event with an upbeat professionalism. Highly reccomend. Thank you for making Aj's party fun!
Our entire group had an awesome time racing, all staff was friendly and helpful!
Bowan at the front desk was super chill and made our large group check in process easy. Alexis was great with communicating with getting all the kids and adults ready for their race! Overall beast experience, and they manage very well. I would recommend this place. Go Karting at level 4 definitely an adrenaline rush.
Absolutely the worst place ever. My cart died mid race all I got was a sorry? Mb2 needs to own it again. I'll forever not be back. Top it off we always do my kids birthday party there. Not anymore!!
Very disappointing experience. The staff controlled our speeds so heavily that we couldn't enjoy the race, and when we asked for a fair experience, they replied with, ?Life isn't fair,? which felt dismissive. We also felt that their treatment was not only unprofessional but racist, making us feel unwelcome as customers. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, inclusive go-kart experience.????
We have visited K1 multiple times in the past, with the previous owner, and had no issues. That said, we are here today. Middle of the day on a Wednesday. Paid for two races for only two riders and were given no estimate on when the race would start. It turns out there were a couple of birthday parties who did multiple races prioritized over us. After an hour and a half, we had our first race. After completion of the first race, we were told it would be another half an hour at least before the next ride.
Waited two hours for about 8 minutes of racing. Have to pay a 10$ charge for an annual membership even if you are only going one time, which isn't explained very well. Only have two people running the track operations on a Saturday night, granted they weren't that busy due to poor management operations now. Briefing before race very poor, talking down to people isn't a great way to explain things. Much better under old ownership.
We had a group of about 14 guys. We had a ton of fun!! We did the 3 races. They let us take the best times from the first two and group the best time racers into the last race and the lower times raced together. Had one moment where they saw sparks under a kart and immediately shut it down and rushed out to get me out of the kart and check it. Turned out it was a just a strap that had come loose and everything was fine but they were definitely on top of everything so everyone stayed safe!
Very fun! Very fast! Had a blast at K1! Great course, and employees!
The experience would have been better, if they had not treated us like people who don't listen. The speed was controlled, it wasn't fun at all. The argument was we could not control ourselves, but we didn't even get a chance to get the speed experience. The kids that went before us were bumping into each other every other second, but they didn't have their speed controlled. It seemed like they wanted to get rid of us because there was a party. Not an inclusive space, would not recomend.
Awesome place, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. All around good time!
Really fun place. I wish the prices were better so you could do it more often though
The kids were absolutely thrilled with this. It was a first time for them and they really want to go back. I would recommend this venue for anyone for the racing. The arcade was a disappointment as after purchasing a game card, we found that 80% of the games were inoperable which left the kids a little disappointed
The boys loved racing the go-karts and playing a few arcade games afterwards. The races are a little pricey, but it's a fun activity for a special occasion. The staff is friendly and helpful. They provided all the safety guidelines and gear. The kids have full harness seat belts while adults have standard seat belts. They provide "head socks", basically a cloth to protect hair/head with using shared helmets. Afterwards you can see your race times on the board and it you opt in they'll also email you the rac
Went in at 330pm- was told we couldn't race until after 5pm. Scheduled & paid for 4 kids to do one race at 5:40pm & 5:50pm. Got back around 5:20pm and stood around for 35 mins until we finally asked what was going on as our names hadn't be called. They didn't even have the kids in a race. They hurried and moved some stuff around but the lady helping us was condescending, made a ton of excuses & never apologized once. Since this place has changed owners, the prices have sky rocketed & the customer service is
My family and I love coming to Pole Position! Also a great place to go with friends! NICE facility. The staff are great hosts. The racing is well run and the karts are FAST! Not everything goes perfect all of the time but they've always made it right if something affects our experience. I recommend buying a membership or package deals, you'll save quite a bit. We also enjoy the arcade games too. Best go-kart place I've been to! Edited 7/14/24 to reflect this review was for Pole Position owned/operate
The place is not inclusive, and the staff shows passive-aggressive behavior. They controlled the speed for all laps, making it feel like I technically paid just to sit in the cart.
Fast cars and fun course. Staff was efficent and friendly but the prices are a bit steep. If you live in the area and plan on going more than a time or two then the yearly membership is the way to go. Nice, modern, clean facility. We had a blast!
Staff was great-a lot of the video games out of order
My son and I raced two races apiece was $90. The prices were affordable and we didn't wait very long in between races. The staff was very receptive and well trained. We Will go again
All staff was so nice and welcoming! My husband and I had a blast, like two teenagers on a cute date! I would go back for sure! We don't live in Iowa, but have some K1s here in California...so we will try them out here!!! Great times!
Management did a superb job working with me to get my son the perfect 13th birthday gift. The private lesson instructor was wonderful at explaining and encouraging my son. He improved 5 seconds a lap in just one hour with the instructor. Great team at K1 in DSM. And great experience for my family!!
The go cars were very fast, and the staff were very polite, and it was all around a great experience.
Very warm, no air conditioning. Delay time while employees fixed the track, we should not have been put in cars with helmets on in the heat. Left in a puddle of sweat. Fun to drive and race each other, just come during the cooler months
We had a blast! Karts are fast, track layout is technical and fun. Julie went above and beyond for our group! Can't say enough good things about our experience! We'll be back soon!
Pretty expensive since we were there last year. The music is way too loud. The employees need to have microphoned headsets and not rush through giving their giving safety instruction. I'll also add that if minors are riding with adults to check their helmet size prior to getting out on the track. A helmet flew off when a collision happened. I'd also recommend if this is a kids first time, let them have a free lap or 2 in the junior trial race so they can get used to it first before racing mixed in with ad
My boyfriend and I went on a date here and it was our first time. It was fun however, it's way too expensive and we had to buy a ?license? that had to be renewed every year. I've never had to by a ?license? at other tracks so it seems like it's more of a membership gimmick than anything. Also, the employees need to slow down when explaining the rules instead of rushing through. It's hard to hear with your helmet on. Probably won't be back for these reasons.
Very fun great staff. Fast karts. Clean!
Great fun! Karts are fast, very responsive and challenging track. The staff there are great, especially Ryan and Chelsea. Cool statistics and performance tracking. Our sin does the Kart Academy, really enjoys it!
Trying this place out for a date night with the wife. Bought 3 races ticket for both of us online early morning and walked in at 5pm. Wait was 50-60 minutes. After the hour wait, they said 30 more minutes. This place seemed to be unorganized and without leadership. If you go here, make sure you have the evening free with no other plans. They really need time slots when buying tickets!!!!!!!!! THE 5 MINUTES OF RACING WE DID WAS A BLAST THOUGH.
It was my son?s (9) first time there. The staff was great. Went over all the flags with him, went over the kart and set it up to fit him. He had a blast!
Such an awful let down. We got gift cards for Christmas to Pole Position, they are now K1 Raceway so I called to double check if we could still use them.. the lady acted like I was a complete moron for asking and was completely unhelpful. So we drive there as a family of three (mom, dad, and 10 year old) on spring break excited to ride together and they've changed their rules that families can't ride together anymore?? What is fun about making our kid ride alone and then stand there alone while we ride?? Te
We paid $66 for 2 of us for a 15 lap drive around the track. Being our first time it took a lap or 2 to build a lil confidence to ?go?. While building our confidence we were passed by the local race team that seem to have done this all but professionally, which is fine, scoot over and let them pass. Well it's there lap count that marks the race. They got their 15 laps in and the ?race? was over. I completed 12 laps at best and my date maybe 9. Fun but not quite the value for your money. Staff was knowledgea
Not very happy with our visit today. Staff were not very friendly. There were 5 in our group and then an additional 3 that went during our time which made it extremely crowded. For the cost per person, was not worth it. Will not be coming back.
First time here. Last time here. Staff super unprofessional makes fun of customers when they think the people can't hear. This is supposed to be a fun experience. This was anything but fun. Staff humiliated us and the owner was rude and unwilling to hear me out. All the talk about having a clean race, yet they can play bumper cars out there and no one cares. No warning flags or anything. Edit: More than half of the arcade games weren't even working.
Lackluster experience with a few different issues happening to our group. Probably could stand a bit more employee training, uniform procedures and/or consistent application of whatever they have in place. Also, they should make sure each person who is about to race can hear the directions and disclaimers and other important info before allowing them on the track.
I took our Men's group there for the end of our weekend outing. What a way to finish. It was so much fun. The crew really made it enjoyable and worked well getting us scheduled in.
Such a poor experience. The staff was rude and had poor customer service skills. My son was accused of hitting another racer when In fact it was the other way around!! My nephews go cart never went any faster then the original speed while everyone else was passing him. We are very very disappointed in the experience especially for the amount of money we paid for our family to enjoy this facility. Wish there was a refund policy? but instead we will just never go back and tell everyone we know.
I took my husband and son here for my husband's 50th Birthday. I was first out on the track with 9 other racers behind me. I went around 1 time and then my go cart speed was restricted and and I had the other racers running into the back of me and I kept getting the sign to let others pass and to brake on the turns. However there was no need to break because with my foot to the floor, everyone was passing me. Then at lap 11 my go cart sped up again. When the race was finished I asked the employee what I h
We visited a couple weeks ago when it was Pole Position and had a great time! When we visited today, it had changed hands to K1. You now only get 12 laps for the price instead of 15. Some of our cars did not run...like they weren't charged or they had restricted them. They kept telling us to slow down and we weren't even bumping. We went to race and have fun so why would they tell us to slow down? Not a fun time today. ??
Great facility. Staff helpful. Quality karts.
FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. Awful Experience. Paid $35 EACH for a 12 lap race. My girlfriend?s cart quit working 3 times (avg lap 60 seconds). They slowed everyone down and ?fixed? it every time. She only got to complete 8 laps. 1 solid lap and the rest at a roll because the cart wasn't working. She asked for a refund and they said ?no you started the race?. Said they can only give her a race credit back. We didn't have a good time tf would we come back for. Also dude at the counter was an idiot
Great service, general manager was extremely kind. My kid had a blast in the karts and cant wait to come back!
Had a lot of fun with our group and glad we didn't have too many extra people racing with us. Prices seem to have gone up and laps went down from previous visit.
We were told our race would be at 6:10 didn't get on track till 7:00 then we are told the max for a track is 8 but there was 10 because there was overbooking and if we didnt all go together it would be a 3 hour wait on top of that. I don't feel like I should have paid 70.00 for a crowded track. There was to many people so there was a lot of people being hit and spun out. Could not go the speed of the cars cause it was too congested. Love the idea of this place but was a very poor experience I very much disl
Had an absolute blast! We enjoyed a race, vr gaming and arcade games! Definitely will be returning in the near future. Highly recommended! Staff we're friendly as well ??. Such an amazing place to spend some family time
Great staff, fast car's. Good for my "need for speed" for an older guy!
We had a great birthday party experience for a bunch of 13 year old girls :)
If no stars were an option that's what I would give this place. From bad customer service up front to bad scheduling of races in the back. All in all save time and money until things go back to the way they were with pole position. Do better
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
