Customer Reviews

I loved it here! Chill vibes and not too packed at all. I was able to hang with friends playing jenga, have a few drinks, and nerd out with the arcade games. Stayed for a little over an hour and will be back next time I'm in town.

It's a dive bar. You're not coming here for food - you're staying for the drinks, the vibe, and the people you'll meet. ???? They have a few mixed drinks that are themed and are tasty. One of the bartender made us a Moscow Mule from fresh ginger beer that they made themselves - I wasn't surprised they had home made ginger beer, in a good way. Was definitely worth a try. It's a young crowd and a popular hangout spot for pub crawlers as well. They have a decent amount of retro arcades around the bar and the

This is a fun little place. We loved the old school arcade games. The menu isn't extensive but the food was good. Drinks were great, the Orange Crush was my favorite. The staff and even the patrons were friendly. Great place to nerd out over games and books. We enjoyed our time here.

Prices are great! The beer selection is limited but it is a local selection. They have many games you can play. They have two rooms. The bartender was very helpful! They do have an ATM and a quarter machine. The ATM does intervals of 5 and it dispenses in ones. It's similar to a dive bar. They have an outside smoking area as well. Down below, you will see some of the games I played and the amenities they have. I will also post the menu. Stop here! Sometimes they have KARAOKE!!!!!

Good place to hang out after school or if you want to pass the time. It doesn't really appear to be a place to have a date or dine. Mostly drink, chat, maybe play a card game or two with friends, and have fun with the older arcade stations they have. My personal favorite was the three pinball games located in the left room, particularly the 1991 "The Machine: Bride of Pin-Bot!!! The furthest I've gotten was activating her voice. If I come back, I'm determined to complete the game!

We came early for the open mic - it never happened. complete waste of time and $20 to park! The bartender was not polite, had her headphones on, was ripping her vape on the bar, and was wearing no shirt? No one comes to check on you at your table. You order food at the bar and then your food gets ran to you and if you need anything else? you're SOL. The drinks were okay but $13 each for those baby cups is a rip off especially with the service provided. We only had a korean corn dog and fries and it was okay

A nice size bar with all kinds on Video game machines and pinball as well. Alot of options to play on. The drinks was priced decent. Didn't try the food. But the deco needs to be refreshed but other than that a cool place to come and relax.

Very nice place! The ambiance is so good, and the security guy is very good man, he do good security job but still stay very nice with good heart! Thank you guys! If i come back to atlanta for sure i will come back to Joystick bar hehe. The vibe in the street was insane tho! I really recommend

Cool bar, terrible service. Three staff behind the bar, not many customers, had to walk away from the bar without a drink just because I couldn't get a bartender to even make eye contact with me.

The bartenders are lit, food is delicious, drinks are strong- you really can come here any day of the week and be surprised by the atmosphere. Shout out to Brytt, Wyatt, AJ, and that girl Paige!

This is such a fun, friendly, and safe space. The bartending staff are great. The slushies are good. There are plenty of board and card type games to choose from. The arcade and pinball machines are 25 cents and all in good condition. The hosts for Mario Kart, Karaoke, and Trivia are a blast. The current resident pop-up chef is amazing. The authentic Korean dog is great. I like to get half beef dog and half mozzarella, with the ranch dust and crushed hot cheetos. The crab Rangoon with Real crab is gooey go

Great Nostalgia place for a date night or just any night if your into arcade video games, or board games, they even have nights for trivia. What could be better than playing classic arcade games and drinking. They have cool drink holders next to each game and even tall block stand for your drinks. It has a full bar, and even an adjacent room with tables for those Dungeon & Dragons meet up. They have machines to get quarters for the games. Lots of fun for an old school player. Some of the games there: Ms.

Great bar for games and a relaxed but fun atmosphere! Good music. Would be good if they sold wine too but otherwise we loved this place

Friendly staff good music. Place seems to be filled with repurposed furniture and couches that need to be replaced. I really liked the drink options. Had a cool Mario kart big screen and oddly enough a fuseball table.

Ah, my favorite bar in Atlanta. This place definitely has that classic dive bar vibe. Expect to pay around $7-$10 for a mixed drink, with specialty cocktails running closer to $14. One thing I've noticed is that the bartenders upcharge for grenadine, which seems a bit unusual. That said, there's never a cover charge to get in, which is a nice bonus. The drinks are high quality, and the bartenders are always consistent in making my drinks just the way I like them. The games are coin-operated, but on specia

Kind of dry and dusty, service was also very dry. They have a lot of old arcade, pinball and board games. Drinks were ok. Low key place to just chill.

Lovely place. Good vibes, great events, delicious Korean food, and reasonable drink prices. I try to come here whenever I can and I always have a good time.

Pretty cool place! They have street fighter, drinks are cheap, and they have a great assortment of cocktails, beers and wines. This is a low key chill place with a second room that is filled with couches and board games. Joystick is a fun place to sit relax and hang with some friends. Parking can be a pain, however.

It was a great place to hang out. The games were nostalgic and fun. The cook was very nice and took time to make sure everything was ready for the party. Loved the pot stickers.

A little grimey in decor, but a cool concept- bar, meets arcade, plus board games, and local in-house pop-up restaurant. When I visited the resident foodie was 95th Street Tacos. I'm not sure who ownership will replace this eatery with, cause at $10 for 3 tacos plus chips, they serve up the best bar meal ever!!! Arrived at around 6pm, which allowed my kids to eat and play arcade games for a solid two hours- kids are allowed before 8pm. Their Old Fashion was nice, but I especially loved the Chris's Hot Boi d

Bartender - T-Pain PLAY* The girls/bartenders are so pretty and fun in their own way. Show some luv when you see AJ, Adonnica, Paige, and Britt when you get a chance to visit the ye ol joystick gamebar! Oh and franky, Dave, Santiago, Shamus, and wyatt are cool too lol Come meet the person you weren't expecting to run into but glad you did

We really enjoyed going here with friends that live in the area. They have a lot of classic, solid arcade games like Mortal Kombat and Crazy Taxi. They have a couple pinball machines, a foosball table, and some board games too. All of the arcade games were only took a quarter to play too! The staff were friendly and very quick at handing you beer! My only complaint is that a lot of their machines will occasionally eat one of your quarters.

What an awesome time we had. Joystick took me back 40+ years to pinball and video games. Joust , Frogged, Asteroids, Defender, Robocop, Terminator, Centipede, and of course Pac-Man were all in the building. Our good friend and chef extraordinaire, Jimmy BBQ did a pop up and delighted everyone with his delicious cuisine. They have board games and a full bar??. Tonight's comedy show was absolutely hilarious. My wife actually surprised me with this date night!! She won ?? tonight!!! Thanks baby!!!

Fifth Place Comedy runs a show here at 8 pm every Saturday night. A friend and I got here an hour beforehand and got drinks. I got a key lime sour that was on tap, and my friend tried both of their gin drinks on the menu. I called ahead to see if they had anything vegan. They do have a plant-based Korean corn dog. Unfortunately, when I got there, they had run out, so we split some sesame fries, and they comped me the beer as an apology. It was nice of them to do that. The comedy show was fun, and I would co

Good food. Great drink prices and a dope vibe. Cool spot. Will be in my hangout spots collection.

Creative drink menu, games are only 25 cents per play, in an age of 50-75 cents per play. Could use a couple more pinballs, but the ones I played (all three) were maintained well enough. Good place for parents to have a drink while their kids jam on 80's era stand up video arcade machines. Food menu is mostly tapas, some reviews point to burgers, which currently aren't on the ever changing menu. Love the soundtrack, good mix of pop and rock, some indie. Huge couch to rest on, some books and board games to e

Community barcade that feels welcoming. Fun specials, nice variety of games, and the ppl are splendid

Super cool place. We didn't get a chance to eat here, which I was bummed about because the food looked great. The drinks were good and it's easy to play the games. There are tons of places to relax and drink/eat. They have pinball, arcade cabinets, and board games.

If you love old school board and video games, mixed with grandma decor then you'll loved this place. I found it odd in a good way. Drinks are good price!

Joysticks is an amazing experience in exotic drinks, amazing atmosphere, and games for days. The first time we went we left and had trouble walking back to our car. We didn't drink a lot and once we looked at our watches we realized we had been there playing the games and having a good time for over 4+ HOURS! We were having so much fun we did not notice the time had passed. Love bringing friends and family here too.

We went to Joystick Gamebar for a friend's birthday, and the concept is great. This downtown Atlanta bar have classic arcade games, tabletop gaming, and a "full" bar. I loved the vintage/rustic decor. We came here on a Saturday night at it was BUSY! We even had to wait in line for about 20 min before we were able to come in, and once in it was too crowded to even walk around. The games go from 25? to 75?, and here's some of the ones they have: Tekken Tag, Invasion II, Popeye, Centipede, Street Fighter II,

A very cool bar with arcade games and pinball game. It is so clean and well-stocked. Also they serve delicious jumbo burgers. The prices are ok. The atmosphere is so lovely. The games are great and remembers me of my younger years. Definitely will be back again. Strongly recommended.

A fun arcade in the downtown of Atlanta, what more can you ask for? People really nice, the drink is really good, But I didn't try the food..

It was a cute spot something different than the norm, had retro games and board games, some of them old and worn out. Hadn't ordered anything from the bar to speak on that yet seen plenty folks ordering, drinks in their hands.

It's a dive bar with a nerdy twist. Cheap beer. Never eaten there so no idea about food. If you're not familiar with the area, it's a little hood, but nothing too crazy. 10/10.

Joystick is easily one of my favorite bars ever. The community is great, the drinks are fantastic, and the food is delicious. Joystick hosts all sorts of free weekly events, ranging from a super smash bros tournament on Sundays to dungeons and dragons on Mondays to karaoke Thursday-Saturday. The people are fantastic, and the bartenders are awesome. Speaking of which, the vibe is a dive-y game bar with all sorts of arcade games around (and some board games to play, too!). You'd expect the drinks to be fine

Great little place, good drinks and classic arcades that still require 25? to play. It is a quaint place made to look like a dive bar. Except it really isn't. It has much atmosphere. Food is very tasty and simple. The menu, however, changes regularly so there are currently no burgers ??, which was a disappointment. It is also in a rather dodgy area. Do not traipse around here after dark.

The cocktails were delicious and the boozy slushes were tasty too! I went on D&D night and it was a very comfortable and friendly environment. Also the bathroom art/graffiti is funny and cool!

Very interesting place...but in a bad part of town. Very limited parking. Lots of people here mid day on Saturday. Bar service can be a little slow! The vintage games are awesome though. There is also pinball and board games! Had a great few hours. Probably couldn't spend longer than two hours here though. The frozen coffee drink was fabulous!!

Food, Alcohol and video games. I'm home. It was really cool place in a really cool area we got there early and had a few drinks and some tacos. Oh and a jerk chicken burrito. You read that right.. and it was GOOD. They said it's crazy at night with lines and all the things I'm not with doing.

I love this spot! It's real cool and laid back. The bartenders are so chill.

I want to shout out the pretty lady behind the bar, Brittney. ?? this was my first experience here, and I'm not originally from ga. WHEN I TELL YOU I HAD A BALL I HAD AN AMAZING TIME. I highly recommend this bar. She was very attentive and she served the BEST MARGARITAS. The lounge itself is clean, and they have decent food. Personally I think this is a great bar than restaurant, but I would recommend anyone to come by and hangout with Brittney. ??

great drinks, friendly bartenders and a cool atmosphere. they have regular events like karaoke and dungeons and dragons. they also rotate the arcade machines periodically throughout the year, i believe the current selection is available to view on their website but has many popular 80s and 90s multiplayer arcade games in various genres. they also have a room with couches, pinball and board games. there is an outdoor fenced in smoking section as well. the frozen mixed drinks are a personal favorite of mine.

Shoutout out to Shamous (tender/GM) & Frank (tender)! Y?all make this place awesome always for my company & I! Just went on a Sunday for the first time ever last night & it was a blast! Cocktails are killer as always! Much love. L

Only writing this review because of the change in the tacos. Used to get three for the same price, but then something changed, I don't know what but it made me sad. There's only two tacos now, and the sauce seems to be over kill/more spicy? It's doesn't have like. A proper blend of flavoring like it did a few months back. It almost tastes like it's being drowned in a spicy thousand island dressing now?

The most horrible experience ever last night me and my two guy friends went to chill at joystick we walked in and walked to the back and there was an improv comedy show going on we are African American however everyone in the back was white. We had no problem with no one and was racially profiled and treated like like we were a threat ! I have never been so humiliated in my life. We actually were engaging in the show however the comedian who came on second felt the need to make us uncomfortable making rude

Fantastic bar with great food and a fun atmosphere. 25 cent classic arcade games and a great drink selection will satisfy anyone looking for a good time. Super friendly staff as well. I am absolutely glad I made time to stop here on my trip, and will for sure be back.

A fun place to let loose and be a kid again. We will definitely be back. Thanks.

I would like to give this place 5 stars, but I can not. I was robbed here once, and this place didn't even have a security camera in the outside smoking area! Nor did they have a roof to stop people from climbing over the bars in the smoking area. The owner is absolutely one of the most down to earth and best people I've ever met. It's too bad some of the staff isn't as hospitable. I did get robbed here once, but thankfully, the staff helped me get my money back and assured that it never happens again to th

Great place to come and share drinks while playing some old school arcade games. The bartenders offer quick and friendly service. The place can seem dirty but in a "local hole in the wall" kind of feel. I honestly don't go here often enough and would love to go more often

First and best bar we went to on our trip. Played some games and everyone was welcoming and I didn't feel like I was stranger despite just meeting the other bar patrons. Cool vibe. Chill. Fun.

This place was cool. We went on a Wednesday and stayed there for about 2 hours. They have a good variety of games and even cup holders near all of the machines. Free water is also available which is a plus. I wish the board games would?ve been more organized as some of the boxes were empty. We had Kentucky mules and they were pretty good. Luckily for us we found parking right in front, but I can see it being a problem on really busy days.

i?m not from here and adonnica made my visit so perfect. She was very nice and we loved and really appreciated her energy. all the drinks she made and suggested from the menu were delicious. joystick is really a magical place. will definitely be back.

Really hip for a self professedly nerdy establishment. It's hard to find a balance between being open and honest about your interests and doing it with style, and I feel like they've nailed it. Wish we had a Joystick in Brooklyn! Food was great to boot.

Visited during Momocon with a local friend Not a bar person but so glad my friend invited me for a night out away from the convention, this place was amazing! Saturday Night, line outside (not a long wait), and had one coffee specialty they serve, GET IT! Delicious. Got to experience the Mean Rock Band, and that made us stay much longer. As someone with 900+ songs, this is the way to play it (especially with the guy egging you on)! Wish there was more selection or an updated list, but i know selection may

Visited the Joystick Gamebar for a private event during my business trip. Pinball was awesome, and there were some cool older games like Mortal Kombat, Galaga, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Day of the Dead, and more. Had a great time, and the food that was provided was awesome.

Fu"*$#@ rad!!! Totally took me back to the easy days!! Epic games and drinks!!! Decor is the best!!! I recommend you have a orange crush to sip on while you enjoy the atmosphere!!

I love coming to this bar. The arcades and the theme they've aimed for are what I like in places I like to hang out in. I haven't had their food much, so I can't discuss it very much. I just know it's a great place to play Jenga drunk. Lol

Brittany the bartender is kind of mean.. Not too personable at all. Had a bad experience dealing with her recently & it's influenced me to stop coming to Joystick, which has been a favorite for me for almost a year now. She stated that flipping the bird is her usual greeting to coworkers and customers alike?. Not nice, not nice at all.

This. Place. Rocks. Huge game variety. Everything from Pacman and Galaga, to TMNT and Street Fighter. 4 different pinball setups, plus a plethora of board games to choose from. They definitely know their stuff. For those saying the drinks are expensive...not sure what you're ordering but I found everything to be pretty reasonable. Mixed drinks on the menu from $7-$12 and beers on the menu from $2-$8 depending on alcohol content (I'm assuming). I ordered a Moscow Mule (not on the menu) and it was only $7. D

A very cute dive bar! The parking is limited and hard to find. There is a bouncer checking IDs before entering. I didn't get to try any food or specialty drinks, but will next time. They have an ATM that gives $1 bills (with a $3.25 fee) and a coin dispenser if you forgot your change. Each game is about 25 cents, there are some that are more. Also, I'm an old millennial and I saw different age ranges, so that was nice.

Great strong drinks and change machine gives actual quarters, 10/10

This made me feel like I was back in Brooklyn- loved the people & games

I come here every Monday to play dnd at their public dnd sessions. I love the food and people that come here and it's always an awesome time to hang with friends. I would highly recommend that if people do come then they look at joysticks events because I'm pretty sure they do something different every day of the week. That is on top of the series of original arcade machines that they have available to play at any time. Everything from house of the dead 2, crazy taxi, and mrs.pacman It's a nice time no matt

What I liked: The arcade games were in really good repair, someone has put a lot of love into them and they still play really well. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was awesome. If you plan on getting some gaming and drinking done with some friends, this place is amazing. Edit: That review is 8 years old. Since then, Joystick has become my home bar, the food is amazing, they do D&D, Smash, Mario Kart, and Karaoke on the regular. It's where you will always find me!

Really fun spot, classic arcade cabinets, pinball, and foosball in a dark (but not seedy) atmosphere. Frank was my bartender and was absolutely charming, friendly, and helpful. The cabinets are mostly in great repair, but there were a few machines with sticky buttons and out of order coin sensors. Drinks a little pricey but not unreasonable, especially for the neighborhood. The other bartender that night (dude with braided pigtails) was a bit of a jerk in his zeal to close up shop, but thankfully, Frank def

Cool place to play games, dance room is way too small to be a dance room. Drinks are okay, and the toilets lock which is always a bonus. I did see a guy eating chicken wings, I didn't want one myself after seeing them though.

Great place for a night out, chill vibes.

I love the atmosphere of this place It's pretty cool, and you get a chance to play some arcade. They hold some comedy shows as well you can check them out

Unfortunately did not go in but it does look like a cool place to stop they did have a lot of visitors!!! And the artwork on the outside of the building was just beautiful had to snap a picture

Very unhappy bartender. I wish they were held accountable these days.

Can you say dive bar? This is it! This neighborhood has only been halfway gentrified so it was a motley cast of characters to say the least. We stopped here for a night cap and to see what games they had inside. To our surprise there was dancing, karaoke, a chess match and more going on. A few drinks. I took time to whoop my date into submission on Ms. Pac-Man. We had a few laughs watching the college kids antics and then the night was over. All in all a good time. They are open til 3am Enjoy

I used this venue recently for my salons Fall Social and the staff was very friendly. The event coordinator made sure all my questions were answered when inquiring about the location. The drinks were great, bartender friendly and I was happy to be able to bring in my own food since they didn't have a kitchen. Great place to chill and take you back to being a kid again.

Cool, fun atmosphere and games. The drinks actually weren't great though. And the bartender we had was a bit rude and standoffish, refusing to make a drink my wife asked for because they "don't support that drink". And their drink menu is a bit limited. But, the fun environment and relaxed crowd more than makes up for it

I come for DND but stay for Frank and Bryttne. ??

The first time I ever came here was for the Atlanta film bar Mondays. So my impression of it was it was always full of people. They have games scattered on the table, comfortable seating, and the bartenders are always very helpful. Plus this place has great drinks and I love their cocktails. The best thing about this place is there arcade games the traditional ones the ones I played as a kid. This is definitely a great place to hang out on the weekends though there is sometimes a wait, but it is worth it if

Great atmosphere, love the old school arcade feel and it is nerd friendly! I did expect more video games but i still had a good time.

Cool vibe. Bartenders were nice. They were hosting a lowkey Mario Kart tournament and it was a lot of fun. All arcade cabinets are 25 cents, and there is a $1 bill ATM machine inside. Great place to spend a Friday night

This is pretty much the ideal arcade bar experience. Lots of excellent cabs, they even had Tekken Tag Tournament which is a must for me! The bathroom situation was lacking, you enter through a tiny little room packed with cabs, and there was a line so I just kept getting squished and jostled while I was waiting. The cabs all had drink holders attached to them which was really convenient for putting my drink down. The drinks themselves were perfectly good, standard. The atmosphere was lively and everybody wa

Drinks were really good. Definitely worth going. They don't have a kitchen, so food is brought from their sister kitchen across the street. They didn't have many choices but the meat pie was great! Some of the games are 50? now, just FYI. It gets pretty busy. Definitely Uber.

I took my husband here for his birthday because he loves video games plus it would also give me a chance to live in childhood nostalgia. We loved it!! It can be a little busy in Saturday night which is expected but we played all kinds of games including the pinball machine. We don't drink so we didn't get anything from the bar but we gotta go back.

I love this place especially Wednesday Thursday and Saturday they have different events it's amazing. Every time i walk in my first drink is a bourban coffee followed by cowboys and Indians then end it with a also fight or bloody pirate. The place is nostalgic and you can't go wrong.

Joystick is always a great laid back time. Perfect for a casual night out or even a date night.

Can I leave less??? I was told I had to leave for talking back to the game. There's no manager. Security escorted me out after zero warning, zero talk. I talked too loud to a game? Yet no one else was talked too? I was a patron of drinks, and talked to several people throughout the night. I was not given the same courtesy when there was a problem, even though there were zero problems previously. Are warnings not a part of the process. And why are there no managers to address customers' problems? I hope no o

Enjoyed both my cowboy+Indians cocktail and double shot bourbon coffee slushie. Bartenders were all friendly and we were served quickly. Good amount of comfy seating, we (two of us) were able to find a spot to sit even on a Saturday. Small selection of arcade games and a lot of the tabletop games were missing pieces. Overall a good experience and I'll be back, but hope to see maybe a bit more tabletop options and another game or two.

I had a ball here! Playing all the vintage arcade games was the best. They even have tables there where you can bring your own board games. The Zombie game was super fun! I will definitely be going back

One of my favorite nostalgic places to hang out. The old arcade games (?25 each) and family board games (free) make it a fun and adorable night out. The reasonable drink prices and occasional karaoke only add to the good time. I've been going for years and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Great Place to hang out, drink were good, and Games were GREAT!!! The venue is small so get in early and it probably wouldn't be the best for SUPER large groups. Had lots of fun reliving the classics like Simpsons and Turtles in time, they are Twice as fun with alcohol now :) It does get hot in there with all the people in a crapped space so, I would advise wearing breathable clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?
