Good service, tasty food and you get to throw axes? what's not to love? Did I mention getting to throw sharp objects while enjoying a cocktail - what's not to love? Aggression out - vacation mode on. And don't worry - there are clear guidelines to keep sharp objects away from fingers, toes and friends - one tip - closed toe shoes are required to Throw axes so be sure to leave the sandals at home or you might only be able to eat and drink ? which is actually not so bad but ? axes ???????

I recently had the pleasure of dining at JD?s , and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with beautiful decor that set the perfect mood for a wonderful meal. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. The menu offered a fantastic variety of dishes, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients. I ordered the wings, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The flav

Came in the other night with a friend of mine. Sat at the bar with Abel serving. He did an amazing job keeping the growing crowd happy with drinks and running food back and forth. Dude was a 1 man army that day. Great job!!!! I had the bacon chicken wrap and was shocked at how much they stuffed in it. What a great value.

I recently revisited here, and I have to say the two new mangers Abel and Grace have really been shaping the place up. The food was great and wait times were fast. Totally would recommend to anyone in the area to stop by with their family and friends!

The new managers Abel and Grace are really turning things around! The service is amazing, the environment is upbeat and fun. Altogether JDs has become my favorite place recently! Definitely check it out for a good time and good service!

I LOVE THE SPIN DIP. The chips are freshly made every time. Also the queso is bomb af. The bloody Mary?s are the best in Mankato. They have a Bloody Mary bar in the mornings Saturday and Sunday. Make your own. It's great.

I hosted our company holiday party there on Friday (1/17/24). The taco bar was well received and everyone had a blast throwing axes. It made for a fun and unique party experience. We will definitely be back again in the future. Thank you.

I heard this place was going out of business It would have potential but is so poorly managed and the staff was inadequate and inept. We threw axes but again the staff didn't know hat they were doing. Axes are dull the wood targets were not wetted down and the wood itself was not correct. Dry erase boards were used for score keeping which is a pain. The server was ok but pestered us about the bill even though we were far from finished and they had a credit card on file. Vulgar music was playing.

Maria was very attentive and sociable to our table. We enjoy coming for a relaxed drink with good music - touch tunes too - and classic food when we visit Mankato. 2 for 1 deals for rail drinks ?all day every day?.

Visited JD?s Hideaway on my 21st birthday. What was becoming a lackluster and disappointing downtown Mankato experience, eventually became pleasant and delicious! JD?s bouncer welcomed me and congratulated me on my birthday, I was greeted quickly by the bartenders, and served delicious drinks and food all at a great price. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone.

Great food and great atmosphere with lots to do. Our server Able did a great job getting our food out and was really nice. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the Mankato area!

Place is spectacular would really recommend their buffalo chicken wrap! Axe throwing is fun and their golf simulator is great. Would recommend coming here for a quick bite and some fun.

I was just there last Friday for the first time. We had some drinks & nachos and queso. The queso was amazing (best ever - even a little heat to it). We sat at the bar and the Bartender was fantastic. While I was there Friday I reserved a lane for axe throwing for Sunday. When we arrived Sunday we were immediately seated and the waitress took good care of us. Krista went over the safety procedures for beginning our axe throwing. We got started and while we didn't get much stuck for quite awhile we had a lo

This place was great. Drinks came out very quick and the food was amazing. I cannot forget about my server Abel? he was amazing! If you are in the Mankato area please go here!!!

Abel was our bartender and did amazing. Fantastic service and super friendly. All around 10/10 recommend. Great food and drinks.

Oh what's the way, what to write, what to say? I thought I would perish in JD's Hideaway. The music was great, not the food on my plate. If not for the axes this would have been our last date. I would have to be paid to return, my own money I'll give none for. If not for the price of axe throwing this business would be done for.

The 2 for 1s are a great deal all day till 11. Golf sim and a couple pool tables. Had a good meal with a good server.

JD?s has great deals all day, their new managers are awesome and very laid back. Plus the atmosphere and the food are both amazing!! Highly recommend.

This place is such a great experience!!! Pat and Josie gave us amazing service and made our dinner so fun. The food is absolutely amazing, nachos, burgers and the chicken wrap was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was so fun and such a vibe!!! Definitely worth making a trip here, we drove over an hour just to try it and it did not disappoint!!!!

Abel and Demond were the best bartenders I have ever met. They were very fast with my drinks and very formal when greeting me! They are my favorites and I will definitely be coming back!

Food was horrible and dry. No music at all. Axe throwing was over priced and was worn down. The beer was water. Server was kool though.

Love jds. The atmosphere is great and have a wide selection of beers. The bartender is great and would be my #1 place to go.

Throw an axe while it's still here. They'll likely be gone soon. One cook, one bartender. The working staff are pleasant and doing their best. The management isn't adequately staffing. The bathrooms are totally unmaintained. Owners: maybe come in for a bite and see what your place has become.

The throwing lanes are too short and narrow. You feel like you're on top of the lane next to you. Our center board was chewed up as well. The instructors that know how to throw will let you throw and give you a hint or two which is nice, but the instructor who admitted he hadn't hit the board all night will sit there for your entire hour giving bad advice. I cannot recommend the food either. My "prime rib" French dip with au jus was just a sliced chuck roast with the au jus being water that was poured over

I've been going to JDs for awhile and I can say that I've seen Abel and Grace really turn things around for the better. They go above and beyond for their costumers and actually engage with the people that come in. The environment is fun and friendly, I highly suggest coming in!

My boyfriend and I where there. The bartender sat us and never came to take our drink order and food order. He was on his phone. We waited for 20 to 25 min

My server Abel was an absolute beast tonight. I highly recommend sitting outside and enjoying an ice cold beer.

We went Axe throwing as a birthday celebrate and it was really fun. An hour is the perfect amount of time and thought it was priced fairly.

Terrible service, mediocre food. 3 hours from the time we went in until we left and we had one drink and a meal. Wasn't very busy either. Absolutely terrible and waitress and manager did not care at all.

Our bartender Abel was a very good guy. Definitely would come back. Love that guy

Very fun place to go any day of the week! The food is delicious and the drinks are great. Highly recommend!

This was the 5th time I have ate there since they open I have had a different meal every time. Their food is awesome and the lunch special is such a great deal. Also they sell these awesome horn cups with their logo on it. I think the are $50 you should definitely buy one or at least ask to look at them

The food was great. The customer service was insanely good. The drinks were awesome.

I'm surprised this place is still open. They have closed twice because of staff issues. The owner hires back people who have been fired for serious reasons. Recent management was shady and now got fired for who knows what. They've been thru about 5 general managers in the last 2 years they've been open. They should just cut their losses and close if the new round of staff doesn't work out.

First couple times I have been here, the food and service was OK, but it has gotten much better. The Wings were amazing and the service was great. Hope this place can stick around! The axe throwing is always fun too!

Abel was awesome ! Best food in town. Attended on a a hockey night food came out quick!

Great food and atmosphere! The cowboy burger was delicious and very reasonably priced. Great place to go with friends throw some axes and get some pub food!

The food is really good and they have great customer service very nice comfortable setting and family friendly ??

Fast and friendly service, great food and great staff. Abel served us and was considerate, helpful, and working hard to make this place great

I love Jds and this place is nothing without that rockstar of a bartender Abel. Great service from my guy 10/10

Drinks were so amazing by Abel. He was very attentive and quick. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Had a great time on our date night, food was good and drinks were tasty!

Great atmosphere. Food was good. Service 2as awesome. Axe throwing was fun and very affordable!

Waitress was fast, friendly, and helpful. My Timber burger was pretty good. Fries taste like they were freezer burnt and cooked and left to sit out. My other half mentioned that the chicken on her sandwich was pretty tasteless, and the tomatoes weren't great. Other than that, it wasn't bad. Bummed a party had reserved all of the axe lanes for several hours so we couldn't try it out.

We both had the cowboy burger with fries/ waffle fries and a couple of beers on tap. Great service, great food! Well be back up in this area in a week, will definitely be eating here again! Our waitress was awesome, smiley and on the ball with service, another staff came to check on us, also. The bouncer was so funny and entertaining!! Bringing a couple of friends this time, they have never been here, so we will introduce them to all of the great things we got to experience!

Jd?s is the place to be! Food is great and so is the staff. Best place to go for a date night!

Abel was an absolute beauty. Fun service and made it an enjoyable environment!

Our server was very nice. Food was absolutely terrible!!!!! I'm pretty sure the "lamb" in my gyro was just very thin sliced bacon. And 9$ for 9 miniature fried pickles. Rip off!!!!

Very interesting. You can tell that there has been a lot of thought into this unique place. Can't wait to spend more time in this asblishment!! And with all they have to offer have a great time will be easy.

Axe throwing was fun! But when it came to the food it was utterly disappointing. We waited for over 1 whole hour for our food. When we finally got it we weren't impressed. Few people had super thin burgers, barely any steak on the sandwich. The fries were under a warmer for awhile cause they were like eating cardboard. We paid $18 for an app and it had a total of 4 boneless wings, 3 mozzarella sticks, and chips with a side of artichoke dip. I wouldn't recommend the food. Our waiter was great, felt bad for h

Very unhappy with staff, I was overcharged by $50 when I went in ( i know I should?ve looked at bill but I just swiped and signed). When I looked at my purchase and saw how much my bill was I called to talk to someone, after leaving my number and never getting a call back I called again and again and finally got a hold of the GM. She states she would look into and that she would call me back, then no response so I went in and she stated she tried calling me but I never received any call or voicemail. She th

Good overall experience. The drinks and atmosphere was good, service was ok.

Food was amazing! New management has really turned the place around.

Food tasted fine, service has a lot of things to work out. The establishment probably has way better ideas on how to straighten this out than I do, so I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus. I'd like to make this a regular stop and I'm optimistic that these growing pains work themselves out. Delivering a consistent experience is important, whether that be menu item descriptions, gaming reservations, or quality of dining. Tonight seemed like a test run soft opening. Again, I did enjoy my meal, and the m

I took my sister and her boyfriend here and what a terrible experience! We went to go axe throwing because they never had before and I've thrown plenty of times at other axe throwing places. JDs was the worst kept axe boards I've seen, and the axes were completely dull and chipped up. No one even explained how to throw an axe so I spent $25 bucks to teach my sister how to throw with the worst equipment imaginable. Truly a poor experience in a place that clearly the people running it don't care about. With t

Pretty disappointing to come back to Mankato and have a place like this replace some of my childhood favorites. We ordered burgers and wings and I didn't think it was possible to make them this bad. I would like to believe there is some kind of standard in hiring and training servers which brings into question the quality of management. The service was just so bad. Coming from a military family this place was recommended as a place to go to "feel right at home". Also, I am pretty sure it was the manager who

Food and service was awesome!! No wait at all bartender was awesomeness

Stopped for lunch today, as I stopped last year and food was good. Will not be ever going back. I ordered the beef nachos with queso and they came out with beer cheese instead. Minus that, they were the absolute worst nachos I've had in my entire life, chips where stale, really no toppings on it besides some jalape?os and the beer cheese, which was cold and clumpy. Tried eating a few but just couldn't. Order chicken nuggets for one of my kids off the kids menu and a regular chicken tender basket for the

Great food, great atmosphere and Abel was an absolute beauty!

I love it here amazing vibes and the general manager Brooks is the best guy ever!!!! Not over crowded but chill vibes and good prices on drinks!!!!! 20/10 will come here again!!!

After 45 minutes of watching 3 servers walk around, I finally got up and asked if we could order drinks and get menus. We quick ordered something before the server left to which we waited another 45 minutes before we got our bar food off their limited menu (not the normal menu). No refills or napkins, ketchup, etc later....the GM noticed and fixed everything. She was awesome and I appreciate her. Hence 3 stars instead of 1.

I'll start by saying 2 stars is gracious, one and a half is maybe more accurate. We went with a birthday party to throw axes and enjoy food/drinks. The axes and boards were poorly maintained, and there was very little staff for the axe throwing to help. They didn't give a demonstration to the group and talked to us for about a minute total on how it works. While we sat at our reserved table for throwing we were checked on twice. Everyone had already purchased drinks from the bar by the first time any serv

Here for a birthday, threw Axs. Our server seemed to be the only server on staff that night for a full bar/restaurant (she wasn't) there was 2 more serves besides the bar tender but she seemed to be the only one working. Food was okay, not sure I'd order their fried pickles again, but they were what they were.

Me and my son stopped in from out of town. The bartender said he was new and that he used to be a cook there, but he did very well. The service was great. My son just turned 18 and made his first pull tab purchase. We had a good time.. I'd go back

It was my first time visiting this place. It was pretty dead, only 5 or 6 other people inside the establishment. Service was good. The food was great. Didn't have time to try the axe throwing, but maybe next time. I would definitely eat here again given the opportunity.

We went here before a concert. Paid for 4 people to throw axes for an hour. Ordered food towards the beginning of that hour. When our time was up there were no tables for us to move to so we waited til one opened up. When the concert started the place started to clear out and we still hadn't got our food. Finally after 2 hours and asking multiple times they said our food was finally going in the fryer next. We only ordered appetizers and they still took 2 hours to even start making them. I under

Tried JD's twice. First time, I ordered a French dip. Cube chunks of overcooked chewy meat with au jus that tasted like lukewarm beef La Croix water. Sandwich should be changed on the menu to be a proper French dip with shaved meat instead of cubes. Fries were not only COLD, but soggy. Originally we were brought another table's food (by a different waiter) because our waiter put us down at the wrong table number. Waited an hour for our food on a weeknight. Second time I was with a small group and we enjoy

The atmosphere was really nice and welcoming. Axe throwing was super fun, fried pickles were delicious and beer was cold and refreshing. Food was below sub par and not good at all. I had the timberbeast burger. When it came out it did not match what the menu stated it was and they put some sort of cheese whiz on the burger which was absolutely disgusting and left me feeling sick. My wife had there prime rib sandwich which was cubed prime rib and the menu stated it was two slices. Also the meat was extremely

Went for a work-related happy hour. I called ahead and the women was very nice and helped be reserve picnic tables and two axe throwing lanes. Head count was unsure, and JD's helped me plan for either way and were very accommodating. Would have given 5 stars, only downside is that it felt like some of the appetizer portions were a little small for their price, but may have been because we were sharing. Will definitely be planning events here again! P.S. Spinach Dip is delicious!

The bartenders, and servers were great! They made a good drink. The 2 for 1s are great! Always have great food and service there! Would recommend!

Fun atmosphere. Was disappointed though, nothing was explained how we can get into a lane for axe throwing, had to wait well over an hour to even order our food, drinks took 15+ minutes to get out to us, brisket nachos was nothing but fatty meat. Was told we have an hour to axe throw, our time was reserved for 7:00, didn't get a lane until 7:20ish than got cut off at 7:55. Would be nice if there was a timer above each lane and maybe lane numbers. That way you get to play for the time you paid for. Drinks we

I remember being excited to try this place out because they have axe-throwing there. I walked inside and I was immediately unimpressed. I checked out the axe-throwing space, but the lanes seem far too narrow to comfortably throw an axe. It isn't welcoming to walk into. Nobody greeted me as I walked in and around the place. I sat at the bar, and I had to approach the bartender to order anything even though I was maybe 5 feet from him. I ordered the chocolate cake which was overpriced (somewhere between $8

Great service!! Good got out fast and tasted amazing!! All for a great price!

3 of us went in last night (11/18) around 9-9:30pm. They were not busy, there were maybe 3 other groups of people in the place. They seemed to be fully staffed, however, we stood at the host stand for a good 5 mins or so and did not get acknowledged. My gf went to use the bathroom, and my husband and I sat ourselves at a table. Another 5-10 mins go by and we were still not greeted at all. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.

I was so excited to try JDs. It was our first time there. Reserved a Lane for throwing. That was fine. But, it took 15 min for someone to even come take our drink order. Then even more for the waitress to come back to take our order. When she came back we were told we should order, since it might be a while. We did, at 6:20pm. We ordered more drinks then too, that took more that 15min to get to us. By 7:30, our food wasn't even up to be made. At 7:45 we finally canceled our food and left. It was so disappoi

The burgers here over the top good! Highly recommend. It doesn't seem to get very busy, so the service is always quick.

Both meals were cold, soggy, and my food tasted like something you'd get out of a can. However, the servers were Very helpful checked in quite a bit.. and I mean they have freaking ax throwing! They should explain that immediately about the cost and how to get started but they don't.. Just a tip to the owner. If I try it again I'll be happy to change my review but the food is way too spendy for the quality.. Ill be going back to try ax throwing I know that at least

It took an hour and a half to get our food. One person in our party got their food half an hour before everyone else. Burgers were past well done and fries were cold. We won't be back.

The only reason I'm giving this establishment a 2/5 is because there were redeeming qualities. The ambiance was exactly what I imagined and more, and the orange-haired bartender was super informative and helpful. I hate that I haven't gotten their name to mention specifically. I would have tipped them directly, but didn't want to straight out insult our server. Speaking of, our server Gianna was not timely at all. We were there for a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes, and most of that time was waiting around t

Great service and a lot to do there, food is decent as well.

My boyfriend and I were just here and were appalled by the terrible service. It wasn't even that busy, but we sat for 30 minutes without being asked for our drink orders, while approximately 6-8 servers ignored and worked around us. My friend that was at a table nearby said the service was horrible as well. We finally got fed up and left. We were seated and served at a nearby restaurant within only 5 minutes. We wanted to give this place a fair chance after all of the negative reviews, but they are quite ac

The manager and staff are working hard to make this a great place to be! Since they just opened 3 weeks ago, I think they are doing a good job! Manager is working on training staff and is interested in "how they are doing". There certainly does need to be improvements, but it IS A GREAT ADDITION TO MANKATO. We had cauliflower appetizer- good. Our sandwiches were good, also.

Great service wonderful people lovely place

Sat for 30 min and got no help. Place was understaffed and employees were scrambling. Had to get up and leave

This place has a lot of potential but definitely have to make significant improvements. Stopped by yesterday around 5:30 for drinks and dinner. The waitress was pretty cold and quiet. We saw on the TV where we can get an $8 pitcher of beer so I asked if we could have that and the waitress just left (presumably to ask if that's ok?) Then she came back and asked what beer we want and we said any light beer is fine and she once again just left without saying anything. Ultimately a pitcher was dropped off by so

The fam had breakfast at JD?s this am. It was awesome. I regret not taking a picture. Big portions! I had the French toast platter with two eggs, hash browns and bacon. Only $12.50. Service was great and got the food quick. Kids ate almost everything. Going back next weekend for sure. The axe lanes were full and people looked like they were having a blast.

So, we went here twice. The first time was really pleasant. I went with my boyfriend and were intrigued by the axe throwing and really enjoyed the food. The staff seemed very enthusiastic and I liked the atmosphere. It smells like cedar in the game area and it was really driving home the midwestern vibe. The second time (on Saturday August 13th) we went again, bringing some friends visiting from out of town. We were super excited to show off the axe throwing. We had a generally very unpleasant time. Here

We went on a Thursday about 7:00, there were 7 of us. We ordered drinks which took 20 minutes to arrive, except 2. One was because they were out of Makers Mark, the other seemed to have been completely forgotten. We inquired about it and it finally arrived at least a half an hour after it was ordered. The group next to us had been waiting for their food for 45 minutes and no one had come by to ask if they needed more drinks. When they inquired when their food was coming out, they were told it had not even b

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
