Positive highlights include friendly staff, clean facilities, and fun for kids, especially on discount nights. However, several complaints cite rude service, high prices for extras like pool, and occasional maintenance issues like dark lanes or stuck balls. Customer Reviews

Island Bowl in North Wildwood has always been a local staple, but the new owners have taken things to a whole new level. Whether you're a longtime regular or a first-time visitor, you're in for a treat. The updates are obvious the moment you walk through the door ? cleaner lanes, brighter lighting, and an atmosphere that's both family-friendly and fun for adults. The new owners have put real effort into restoring the classic charm of the place while bringing in modern touches that make it feel fresh again.

Is a good place for having a great time for the whole family, not only for bowling but also has arcade. Definitely I will be coming back again.

We reserved a lane ahead of time for a predicted rainy Saturday afternoon. I was very impressed with the service, food, and friendly staff. We reserved the 2 hour package that included a pizza, pitcher of soda and shoes for all bowlers. Our 2 year old had a great time with the bumpers and bowling dragon assist for the young ones. Staff waited on us and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We were at the 9th frame at our end time and were not cut off and were allowed to finish the 10th f

Excellent place. Lanes are in great condition, and the facilities are extremely clean throughout the bowling alley. So if you live or just be there on vacation take time and bowl a game or two.

We traveled from Florida. I grew up going to Wildwood. We went here to play pool and play in the arcade. First we paid for an hour of pool. The Pool table had no overhead light and it was definitely not level. Then we put money in the air hockey, the table only had air blowing in some spots and others were sticky. We just walked away from that game. Now we are playing pinball and notice every game is covered in dusty dirt. The workers really need to do a bit of side work. So disappointed. This is

My wife and I hadn't bowled in probably 15 years. We were on vacation in Cape May. It was a rainy day, so we decided to go to Island Bowl. The staff was great, from helping my wife find a good fitting bowling shoe, to helping her find a house ball. The establishment was clean. We will definitely return.

Fun place to take the family! Kids enjoyed the fries and tater tots. Adults enjoyed the orange crushes. Will return.

Games and shoes are reasonably priced and there are plenty of house balls to use. Food is decent and takes a long time to get out, mainly because of small staff to work with, and the lanes will most likely have an issue or two during your game.

Nice big bowling alley that is kid friendly (alot of lower weighted balls) and reasonably priced. Staff was helpful, even allowing us to put our name on the waitlist and to call in to see how much longer we have. We will be back

We had a wonderful time bowling with my 4 year old granddaughter. Since it is out of season, it was quiet. We went back again and had a wonderful time

Let me start by saying a one year old baby with us ran on to are lane and we had to get her. But kick ys out or say something to us if their is a huge problem. So we come in I say we have 8 adults and 3 kids is two lanes ok. She says yes $35 a lane a hour or $4.75 a person and $4 shoe rental. I say ok we pay the per person and go to enter names in the lane. One lane has bumpers up and one doesn't. It asks for bumpers per person but doesn't let you adjust it. So I go to ask if we can have the bumpers up per

Lanes were very dark, not even able to see the 2nd set of arrows on lane, no visible oil at all. $35 dollars a lane - why not let us at least finish the game without an additional charge with 3 frames to go!

Lots if fun for a rainy day. Burgers beers and helpful staff. So much so we called the bartender "Happy"

Bob at the bar is that guy, man. Great guy facts

Great bowling. Clean. But the restrooms need some attention. Food is pretty good for a bowling alley.

Went here last weekend. Played several games within n hour for 40$

I'm not usually one to go through the effort to write a review. But this place is well worth the time. Had a blast with my friends. Nice staff, very helpful and patient with our entire group. Food was great, better than most places like it.

Fun place, I love the old wood lanes and the Two Dollar Tuesday is a great deal! Lanes were fine and didn't hook out the wazoo like I expected which for a guy with a higher Rev rate is nice. Had a couple scoring issues and a ball return call but other than than was a very fun experience and my friends and I will most likely be back if we're in the area.

Went late night after a dinner date. It was a nice place and fairly priced. I like the atmosphere. Our lane had a few issues and I wish the house balls were organized by weight. I would come back

Had a blast here for some night bowling. Will definitely come back again.

I went to the restaurant Alfie's witch is attached to the bowling alley,,,Alfie's is amazing,,,the food is amazing,,,I had the blackened sea bass my wife had the chicken,,,we both had the sauce with the shrimp and the scallops,,both dishes were outstanding,,if whoever reads this review you have to give this place a try,, the food was so delicious,,,the staff there were all so nice,,the place is super clean,,and it's casual dining,,I think they have entertainment at night because I seen a little stage area w

Terribly rude people at desk. We walked out. Never going back and will tell everyone not to go. Similar responses here so must be a typical thing. It's a shame used to love going here. It's really shocking how rude he actually is. As you can see by the managers responses, he is confrontational and does not care to please his guests or retain them. Poorly managed

Lanes are getting worse and worse with no updating staff is disrespectful and and spend more time sitting at the bar and on their phones instead of behind the counter waiting on customers. There is no management there to oversee what is happening. With the new place opening in Rio they should be going out of their way to keep people. Will not be returning. I love the owners response who wasnt even there and has no clue what goes on there.

Alfies was always amazing and still is. Great menu, apps/sides cooked to sumptuous perfection. We had a group of 14 which was easily handled by the staff. Everyone just loved it.

Odd place. We had fun bowling but communication with the staff there was not clear. I think they are just short staffed. Added an extra star from 3 because the broiled burger and fries were excellent. We will go back but know there will be some hiccups. They go by the hour now.

Great fun, the man at the desk was friendly, humorous, and he gave our party of 8 a few extra minutes of play (I asked for) because our wait time was double the initial estimate through no fault of his own. Everyone's shoes fit, and everyone found a house ball or 2 to use for their game. Will go back. ????

I used to bowl here when I was younger. This is actually where I met my wife back when we were in high school. While it has gone through a couple new owners since then it has been updated to keep things fresh. While still keeping its classic charm and atmosphere that we remembered when we came to play.

Staff is very attentive and friendly, clean environment, and plenty of lanes for everyone! 5/person per game and food/drinks are not expensive at all ?

We had to change lanes twice and spent an hour of our time waiting for pins to work balls to come back to the return carriage and that occurred multiple times to the point that we had to switch lanes on two occasions. The staff is slow in the response time to correct our issue. They offered no remediation to our inconvenience

We had fun. Seemed clean minus the ceiling leak by the restrooms. Staff was nice, though there was only one girl working the food counter and the drink counter. She looked a bit overwhelmed. Food was good too! ????

Had no issues with staff or service! Very nice and they were very helpful! Had fun and the prices were great! In fact we had a great time and we wanted to finish our third game so we purchased another hour and even played a forth game! After that we were tired out so we left early but it was still worth the price! Is there an email that I can contact the owner with?

The new lanes are a huge upgrade. The approach area was super dusty making it feel like you could fall over at any throw. That was only an issue the latest time I've gone so could be just a one time thing. Prices are on the higher side with few specials. Overall, decent alley.

This place has come a LONG way in the year and a half the new owner's had it. Of course I liked and miss the previous owner too, but the new ownership has made some much needed changes here. The maintenance guys are real nice, down to earth and do a nice job. This is the best this place has ever looked in 20 years!!! They repainted the interior and added better lighting. The bathroom is immaculately clean. And though the wooden lanes still need upgrading, they replaced the pin decks with synthetic ones wh

We wandered in after eating at Alfe?s (downstairs). Couldn't have been better for two adults, two teenagers, and a 6 year old. Great lanes, nicely renovated, very nice and helpful staff. We'll be back!

Bowling was great until the place became overrun with loud, aggressive, rude teenagers. My father (68 yrs) and I (47yrs) retreated to the bar when that happened and tried to play pool. It was my first time in the bar area so I wasn't sure how the pool table worked because there was no quarter slot and all the balls were down. The rude bartender nastily said it was $12 and hour to play pool. We were shocked at the price and my father said we'd just like to play 1 game. The bartender with a ton of attit

Don't get me wrong its a great place and bowling is amazing, there's two things. One the pizza wasn't all that great I can't really expect much from bowling ally pizza but I mean still. And two the machines had some type of issue and it took the people at the desk a pretty long time for them to do something. But hey we did get 1 free bowl card so I guess all was worth it.

The bowling alley has been steadily improving over the last several years and the $2 Tuesday evenings are of course the main attraction. The lanes score pretty well (I like em kinda dry) and the newer scoring computers are certainly a plus. The overall facility, including the bathrooms, are consistently clean. The machinery is much better maintained than under previous owners, thanks to an older, nice fellow Joseph, (who's well acquainted with the alley's history), and his cohorts. They're all great people

Lanes are nice, but they had way too many issues within the hour we bowled and then shut us down after we JUST managed to finish one game... Not worth coming back if there's going to be so many problems and then not get some time to make up for all of the issues. Probably won't be back. Started on pair 3-4 told to move to pair 7-8 after 5 frsmes because our scoring cameras stopped working and gave everyone strikes, then got told 7-8 were down for maintenance and had to move again to 9-10 after we just got o

We went on a rainy day so it was INCREDIBLY crowded. The facility itself was clean, fun, and we'll operated. But the fact that this is the only bowling alley in the area means everyone and their mother flocks to it when it rains. If you're ok with waiting 45 minutes for a lane and dealing with inconsiderate children then yes this is a totally good place! If not, maybe pick a different activity for the day

Busy for a Sunday, but got a lane right away. Unfortunately the snack bar had a 45min wait for food because of 2 birthday parties going on. The only thing I'd suggest they do better is sanitize the bowling balls after each lane use.

Great place to bring your kids and friends bartender is extremely nice and makes good drinks! Owner is a very nice young man including all the workers here! 100% have to try this bowling alley out!

Always a good time! Very kid friendly with lighter balls, kids size shoes, bumpers, and a ball ramp. We love the music and fun lights!!

Nice family place clean and very good service and value would visit next time in Wildwood

This is a pretty darned good bowling alley. The hours are great, ESPN is always on. The menu is expansive, but not strange- all the fried classics you can imagine. Domestic Beer pitchers are $12! My one drawback- it is fairly expensive for just bowling. Two hours, plus shoe rental will run you $20.

I went to island bowl today for a bowling tournament with the usbc and the owner had no employees show up on time and had nothing ready for the bowlers. I will NEVER go back to this place due to the lack of leadership shown from the owner. Poor service all around. I will take my money and service somewhere else next time.

Ok, but a little crazy with kids running all around most of the time. Was shocked when a Miller Light draft was $6 bucks! Served in a small plastic cup, not even 12ozs! Only option in the area so I have no choice.

Good bowling and decent staff. The food isn't edible. If your intending on eating food here. I would you rather eat your own feces. Nearly vomited from the nachos. The pizza is undercooked and uses fake materials. It's a bowling alley tho. But they should care about food tho.

This place Sucks! 3 hour wait with 6 people in the lobby while others wait to see if the 80 other familes on the list decide to ever come back. 3 pinball machines, 1 works. 2 air hockey tables, 1 works. Young chick at the counter is beyond clueless. I realize she was overwhelmed but really? And the place smells like a$$! Great Location though.

I love Island Bowl. I came late to my sister's birthday last week but I enjoyed hanging there! I snagged some pizza, which we brought home and actually tastes amazing reheated! I also ordered a pizza burger that I ate and enjoyed! Bowling prices are fair and it's a fun family meet up place! (I also can't stop thinking about their Walking Dead Pinball machine.) I'll be back in the summer!

It was HOT Apparently the Air conditioning was in need of repair, so my children and I literally melted, despite the faint circulation of the ceiling fans. Nonetheless, we did make the best of it, as they offer a great deal for groups such as mine, that included shoes, 2 hours of bowling, pizza and a pitcher of soda??

My husband and I recently went on a tuesday night for his little sisters birthday. We had a good time but I wouldn't say its a family atmosphere, there was teenagers humping each other, cussing like truckers and singing along to Big Sean I don't f*** with you. Please clean up some of the vulgar!

Very nice staff! The girl at the snack bar was the best! It was our hockey teams end of season party! Great day out and off the video games!

Our bowling lane score was deducting 1 pin on every ball. So a strike was 9! Kid at the counter was clueless to fix it. Can't complain too much as the place hasn't been updates since the DooWop days. ??

I would highly recommend bowling at Island bowl. The establishment is clean, with good food and drinks. The center has wood lanes which are well maintained with a fair and consistent oil pattern for league bowlers. I would like to see Island bowl address the steps carrying bowling bags in and out of the center. The pro shop can provide everything bowlers are looking for.

Tuesday discount night is the best bargain on the island if you have kids

Nice place, went a few times, wasn't too over crowded. It's a pretty big place with lots of room to move around. Lanes are nice, clean and function as intended. They have food and beer too.

Solid lanes, recent owner has made great changes and really taken care of the alley. Incredible bowlers, amazing pro shop, they've got just about everything you need in one stop for the casual and more avid bowlers.

This is in response to Zach Rohrer's comment. The tournament was scheduled to start at 11am and they had staffing there by 9:30 to welcome my tournament staff so that we were prepared to start our tournament by 11am. Joe and his staff are always great to my Southern Jersey Shore USBC team and I hope that we can continue. Joe has made great strides at the center and I thank him for his hospitality as always.

Staff yelled at us when we told them that the ball return want returning our bowling balls, into our two hour game deal that they had someone came over and opened the ball return to find out that there was balls from the previous game still lodged in and told us to not throw them but it was the previous people before us. Then thirty minutes later we could start our gameand one of the balls got stuck again, then we went to the desk and said something then where told that we weren't getting the 30 minutes bac

Had a great time. Staff was very helpful. Enjoyed the pizza and 2 he special. Good family fun.

It was a great place to relax with the family. We had pizza and drinks with a great weekend special. It wasnt very crowded and we were able to have a really great time.

Clean facility and friendly staff. No problems with the digital scoring or the actual lanes. We were here for a birthday party and everyone had a good time!!

The gang an I had a good time.we went in there for weather.thought bowling would b fun an different. The roof started leaking.then my dorry mate Mike got a strike. The whole place shut down.all the boards that keep score.shut off.power generator came on.then the place shut down.who said there in no higher power.i believe

Good idea for parties but don't count on them to get the pizza on time and the staff minus the main guy that works the counter needs a serious attitude adjustment.

Thank you wildwood bowl my family and I came in last minute to celebrate my grandsons Birthday not only were they accommodating also very friendly. We had a great time.

I called ahead to ask if they had wheelchair bowling ball ramps, I was told they did. When we arrived (on a very rainy day), we learned the bowling alley is upstairs with no elevator, it would have been nice of we were informed that when I had called inquiring about the ball ramp.

Such a great night out local in Wildwood! The bar area seems to have renovations and it's a cool spot for good beer and great pizza!!!

We had an awesome time bowling. It is very clean in here. And dare I say it there are better arcade games here than the boardwalk.

Awesome place for the whole family. Kept very nice & clean. The staff are so very nice & extremely helpful!! Great place to have kids birthday parties!!

Had an awesome time. Friendly and professional staff. Great atmosphere.. Definitely recommend.

Came in for two games while on vacation. so heres what I see. renovations have slighly been made front desk area looks decent but beyond that is bad. I dont mind a dated bowling alley looks wise but the lanes need to be in working order, so when your game is compromised its no fun. So heres the lane details. Got lane 15. 1. The front end of all of the lanes the boards are cracked. 2. The lanes arent oiled properly. ive gone to brunswick zone, local alleys in PA and never had a house ball grip in the first 1

To dark. We had a birthday party and could not see well. There were no large balls to accommodate larger hands.

They were out of the food we wanted. I used the bathroom and they were out of soap, paper and paper towels it was a mess they only had two people working. It was also very hot. We will not be returning to this bowling alley.

Lots of fun! Very chill and workers are polite. Nothing to complain about! <3

Great prices and fun place to bring the family. Not the most modern bowling location but it still has everything you need. Affordable food, beer, and lanes.

Place was clean staff was nice prices were good didnt get no food but had fun

Excellent place to share with family. 2$ per person (shoes), and every game per 2$. Pizza lower price in wildwood with great flavor.

Ive been coming here almost every week for several years in the winter and i love it. They have leagues for all ages and good food.

I always enjoy bowling at Island Bowl. I've never had any complaints except maybe just the steep stairwell to the front doors, but a little burn never hurt nobody! ????

Lots of fun. Cool place.

Thursday's are the perfect day to come to Island Bowl because there are plenty of open lanes. Great place to casually bowl.

My family had an amazing time. Staff were wonderful! Can't wait to come back!!

Nice place, have good Tuesday deals, and redpin nights on Saturday. Scoring in some lanes aren't accurate, but staff is friendly and helpful.

A clean spot to bowl with good prices. The staff is very friendly and understanding. My favorite place to bowl!

I, Went there for my niece's birthday party had a great time pizza and food was good only bad part was the bar was closed had to go down stairs to a nother bar for a beer and bring it up

Lots of family fun at a great price. Decent drinks at the bar.

Rude. Not understanding at all. Management is rude. No one that works there enjoys life. End of story. Go somewhere else.

We called for the prices since we are not from around here and the guy was so rude he literally was like ughhh! Over the phone. So we will not be coming here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
