Positive reviews highlight excellent customer service, especially from managers, and good value for family outings. However, recurring complaints include poor maintenance (broken equipment, pest issues), inconsistent service (understaffing, slow concessions), and cleanliness problems (sticky floors, stale food). Good movie theater. Bad layout. It looks like it was a movie theater but at the last hour someone dropped a Dave and busters on it. But the theater seats were really comfortable and soft, and can recline!

Juan and Cody are two of the managers and they have always gone above and beyond our expectations! So polite, inviting and helpful. They also seem to do an amazing job in leading their team a way managers should. They lead by example. They actually help the employees and customers. It's very refreshing. I always had a great experience with all the employees as well. Never even came close to having a complaint with the experience or food! I highly recommend!!!

Hooky Waxahachie was amazing!!! My boys had the best time. All three of them used the word ?EPIC?. The games were fun, the movie and food were outstanding! The bartender Mary personally made sure my family was happy with everything! Hooky has put in the work and it definitely shows! Can't wait to take my family back here again!!

Took the family to see the Lilo & Stitch movie tonight and was surprised to find out that the theater had been sold and is now called Hooky. It's currently under renovation, but that didn't take away from the experience at all. From the moment we walked in, the young adults working there were incredibly welcoming. They greeted us with smiles, asked what movie we were seeing, and told us to enjoy. The same friendliness continued at the snack bar, where the staff kept up a great conversation and made us feel

Management was awesome, took care of all of our needs. Staff was very friendly.Having the southerly manners goes along way and definitely makes you feel welcomed. My son enjoyed the movie and games. Earned enough points easily to even get a gift that he wanted. Seats were comfortable and the room was clean. The only con that I had was they needed to wipe those doors down . As I left the room from watching the movie you can see all the finger prints from all the previous guests. Maybe that particular day the

Had my son's 18th birthday here. Was an incredible experience. Think it will go down as his best birthday ever. The staff are unbelievable. So friendly and accommodating. Thanks so much to Justin, Juan, Bryce and Mary. You all made our experience great.

Hooky theater The entire place was dirty, from my shoes sticking to the floor, to the bathroom that was just simply gross. The climate control was set way to high, I started sweating the moment I walked into game area, hoping that the actual movie theater would be colder, which it wasn't. The concession stand prices seemed much higher and Hooky doesn't even offer hot dogs. We ordered pretzel bites with cheese and mozzarella cheese bites. It took + 15 minutes and we missed the beginning of the show

As a regular customer who just wanted to enjoy a peaceful movie experience, I was really surprised by the situation involving Mariel Pernias and her children. I've been to this theater many times, and I've seen her kids acting out before?running around, being loud, and even disturbing other guests. This visit was no different. Her children were loud and disruptive while people were trying to settle in for the movie, and it was clear that she wasn't making much effort to calm them down or manage their behavi

We recently celebrated my daughter?s 10th birthday at EVO, and it was absolutely fantastic! This is our second year to do the party here and whoever the manager was on duty on Oct 26 went above and beyond. He made my daughter (who has a wheat allergy) her very own gluten free pizza as a surprise! The kids had a blast bowling and exploring the arcade with its variety of games. We did the TEAL package that came with pizza and sodas and it is honestly cost effective for a birthday party and it was very easy fo

This was a fun place to go. You can play games, eat and watch a movie. The staff is friendly and the prices are good. I plan to go again.

Checked out after it went from evo to hooky. It has improved by a ton. Ordered pizza and it was delicious deep crust pizza. The prices on food have gotten better also. Customer service was really great, one employee helped with the door for guest. Also the whole place is getting a make over and was very clean.

We love coming here every Wednesday night for bowling! Mary is a rockstar and takes great care of us! She is always smiling and even remembers our favorite drinks!

I absolutely love this place. My husband and I come here atleast twice a week. All of the workers are so nice but Makayla is especially attentive, whether it's at the box office, bowling, or cafe. She is amazing!

Really and truly disappointed. For $16 each, this was NOT a good experience. Had a long walk to get in, and it was PITCH dark after and we had to use our lights in our phones to get to our cars. Inside was just horrible. There was NOT ONE CUP for drinks. You'd think someone would notice and start getting cups way before they ran out completely. The drink area was a mess. You get your own drink and then their machine asks you if you want to leave a tip, FOR MYSELF, can I do that? Because YOU didn't do any

I decided to give this theater another chance since B&B did not have the showtime that accommodated my family?s schedule. On the website I purchased tickets for EVO Waxahachie (formally Showbiz); however, when we checked into theater I was told (and several other guests too) that we purchased tickets at their Florida location. What? No, we all went through their site. They asked us to return for a later showing, but luckily an employee found us available seats. I was seriously ready to request a refund fo

We had a fantastic time celebrating my daughter?s birthday today. We enjoyed a movie, played some arcade games, and wrapped up with an hour of bowling. The staff were wonderful, and the manager on duty was exceptional. A big thank you to everyone!

Unpleasant experience!!! First time visiting! Right off the bat I was excited and impressed with the facility, food prices/deals, and reclining seats. I attended with 3 teenage girls. Whom mid movie went to the bathroom and came back complaining of a staff member chasing them down asking for their tickets, which I HAD! As I understand they are probably on high alert with teenagers, I found it very unprofessional of the staff to come in to the theater, rudely ask the girls as they are sitting literally rig

I love Evo. My husband and I go to the movies here all the time. But last night, I decided to have a family bowling night for my birthday. Let's just say the night started off just a tad bit rocky, but our host Peyton and The Hospitality Manager Kristy made our night amazing!!! The customer service here is top tier!!! Not to mention they're very affordable!!!! Lots of entertainment for the entire family! The food and drinks were so good!!!! If you're looking for a great spot to hang out or just chill with t

Great theater! Clean and fun atmosphere. The reclining leather seats with trays are great for comfort and accomodating your movie snacks. They also have bowling and good game selection if you want to make a day out of it. The Cafe and Bar are also great perks.

Definitely great during the week and weekend! You can spend the whole day!! Did I forget to mention there's a theatre and ?bar??!?!!!!!

I used to enjoy going to this theater.. 10 years ago. Went recently and it was a mess. The entire floor was sticky and you could hear everyone's shoes sticking to the ground as they walked!!! They no longer have the chili for nachos, just cheese. They didn't have jalape?os, hot dogs, or hamburgers. There was alot of popcorn on the ground. The womens restrooms didnt have handsoap in them. The teenage staff is always kind so I think managers need to step up tell them what needs to be done. It would be a very

First off I would like to name the team members who did an excellent job at this theater and made up for the rest of my experience, Danny, Jessica, and Valerie were all very kind and helpful. However, I would give this theater negative stars if I could. I work at a movie theater that is both bigger and busier than this one, with a similar amount of employees, and I have a literal list of problems that I experienced at this poor excuse for entertainment. I wanted to see a showing at 10:30, I get to the theat

Loved this place good area I took me and my girl. Richard was a worker there who took our experience to the moon. Kudos to him

Visiting here from Canada to see some friends, they took me here because they said it was a good place. I'm so glad they did! The customer service there is wonderful, Kailey was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make sure the environment was welcoming to me and was very patient with me when answering my questions. She made the already cool experience that much more amazing. I had an excellent time!

Pretty cool to have entertainment down south. I haven't been to the theatre in Waxahachie since Covid hit. Decided to catch a matinee on today and was pleasantly surprised. More than a theater. I was shocked to see such a nice gaming area and an updated bowling alley. They have a concession area as well as a bar and a restaurant. The theater was spacious and nice comfortable reclining chairs. Tuesday is their movie discount day. The staff is cordial and they had $1 hotdogs. Will definitely be a regular

Formerly Showbiz, but went here to go bowling??, and let me tell you I will not be returning. Management was kind in trying to accommodate my family, but everything would've been fine if they had done ball???????? management. The people to the left of us had 11 balls, multiples of the same smaller sizes, and the ones to the right and further down about the same. All they had to do was ask that they don't hoard multiple balls of the same size (simple). The floors are horrible. They are filthy need to be redo

The pizza we ordered for our movie was great! The theater was nice and clean and a great spot to cool down after a hot day.

Just feels like it is going downhill. Plus the tip thing!! We serve ourselves and then we get to answer ?one more question?. Why? Oh, so the theater can save money on labor. It's always got trash all over the place outside. The people are pretty nice and that is good. But class up the place a little please and keep it clean. Its the only option in town and it has so much potential!

We enjoyed the movie - the sound & color was great. It was a bit cool inside the IMAX but better than to warm. Popcorn was good & none to take home. The floors in the IMAX needed a mopping - they were sticky. Overall it was great for us & a short drive from Ennis.

Nacho area was uncleaned and had chili and cheese left from the previous day. When i asked the employee of it was fresh she said yes only for the manager to come over and say the cheese is out and they wont have another shipment until Thursday. The drink area was not stocked and not clean! They did give me a discount which i appreciate for the inconvenience but this theater is usually better kept. Cleaning before leaving for the night is recommended

It's 33 degrees outside. We purchased tickets from Angel Studios to watch Homestead. When we walked into our theater it was so cold my husband turned around to find someone. ?Everyone? who could help were in a meeting and we were told they'd let someone know. Every theater my husband checked was warm and comfortable. I had two jackets on & wool socks and still froze. No one turned the heat on. Everyone was freezing and complaining. That was unacceptable & miserable conditions - but the movie was really good

This was a weird experience for us. We went to see a movie and wanted to eat first, so we ordered some appetizer like foods, cheese curds and fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks. They game out way over fried and with no dipping sauces. I asked for some marinara and ranch and they said they were out. The movie and seating in the theater was good as to be expected but the food was not good and lots of games didn't work, so after eating the food we spent money on games to pass the time and a ton of them weren

The theater felt cold and had the stale air of a Motel 6. They no longer offer combo deals?instead, a single-size bucket of popcorn and a drink will cost you $18. The bathroom floors were sticky, there was construction clutter in the hallways, and by 10 a.m., the trash cans were full and the napkin dispensers were empty. Overall, it left me feeling pretty disappointed. I honestly don't think I'll be returning to this theater.

We pre-bought tickets then had an unexpected event happen where we needed to move the time of our movie, EVO staff was so helpful and kind and we had no issues changing out movie time and receiving new tickets. Clean and comfortable theater too!

We waited for over an hour for our movie to begin. The staff only came in once to notify us that there was a problem. We were told we'd be given updates. That was the only time someone acknowledged the problem. They never apologized or offered us anything to compensate us for our time and trouble. While we waited on our movie to begin, a staff member asked me to stand up so he could get behind my chair to look at something. At the time, I had no idea what he was doing. When I sat back down my chair would no

We've been here 3x in the past 6 months and each time the caption devices were not charged, not working, or they had to go through several just to get to a working one. Each time, I, or my husband missed the first part of the movies. Was given a promise by the 1st manager an email with information about free games and the like...never received anything from him. Each time I was given free tickets, of which I haven't used yet. Why would I, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEING SAID WITHOUT THE DEVICE BEING IN WOR

It's a nice spot. I've been a few times. It's fairly clean and pretty well staffed. It's a nice environment for family and friends to spend time. The prices are fair and the variety of activities is adequate. Check it out if you're in town!

Movie theater was great, pop corn and drinks were good price. They only have water for those of us that cant do carbonated and no sugar. The hot food station was not great, They were very confused about the items on the menu, and never did get my order correct.

What a dump. This was such a nice place for a few years, then they remodeled and added bowling. The place soon went to hell, and I was hoping the new owners would bring it back. Such a nice facility to have machines, and bathrooms not working, and not enough staff to serve people and keep the place nice. I live 4 miles from this place but I guess im gonna have try the new red oak theater

This place started out great. It is getting progressively worse. Bolwing is bolwing and you can't really mess that up. The movie theatres themselves are fine. The consessions are going down hill. Popcorn was stale and of the 6 ICEE dispensers only 1 worked. The staff has been slow and or hard to find the last couple visits. (Typically found in a corner talking to each other) Nobody is rude or anything like that. Just absent. The games are breaking down. Last time, my kids couldn't play half of what

Hooky Entertainment still offers $5 Tuesday movie tickets. You can buy them in person to avoid extra fees. Kaylon was awesome; he answered all of our questions and helped us buy our tickets.

Gone down hill so fast, different owners and brands over the last 5 years...Hooky is now the 3rd or 4th owner/brand. Nothing in stock for concessions, floors beatup, displays inop.

I love this theater for a quick date with my hubby OR kids outting. We went to see One of them days and the theater was clean. The concession stand is pretty organized as well with nice staff. I will be back!!!

Noah?s was a great server to us so Polite while we wear Bowling I will be coming back because of him

It is a very nice place. Not expensive. Their tickets are cheaper than B&B. The seats reclined and they have games and food. Most definitely will be back.

Bowling was decent $ for family of 4. The arcade area is what was really lacking. Half the games were broken and the lower ticket prizes were non existent.

Used to be a fun place to bowl. The atmosphere isnt bad but its hard to justify bowling here for the cost. The floors are so dry that if you take a reactive ball here you will not have fun. Its a shame because otherwise it could be a decent local spot.

This place was fine when it was owned by showbiz. But the new owners with EVO haven't done a thing with the place besides forget to clean it, repair it or staff it. Bar service always takes way too long. The IMAX screen is barely acceptable and I'm surprised it passes IMAX standards. B&B Theatre in Red Oak is better and that place also sucks. EVO is only one mile from us but I'd rather drive to a Dallas theater for most films. We have been a customer here for the past 12 years and it's so sad to see how dow

Noah was very polite and helpful. He has great customer service. We will be back!

Fun arcade, just be aware of the little rodents running around. Saw one today around 3 PM January 31 2025 (Wouldn't order food just to be safe.) Nice place get professional pest service to clean up your pest problem. Spend money to make money ??

My family and I visited to watch a movie and snack on some appetizers. The reason for my review is to commend Cody the manager and Kailey at the snack bar. They went above and beyond to make our experience extremely comfortable. Greatest customer service ever.

I'm hard of hearing and their subtitles machines do not fit the cup holders ( too loose) and apparently they only have two working machines out of the whole place. I had to watch a movie without subtitles which was incredibly disheartening. Won't be coming back until this problem is fixed.

This place is still soooo much better than the new theatre in Red Oak. The ticket prices are better, the concession is better, the staff is friendlier. We go here every few months to catch a movie, probably more often lately as there have been better movies out there lately. They have $1 hot dogs which while probably not healthy is worth it for watching a movie.

Showbiz in Waxahachie TX has done it again! They are amazing! They go above and beyond to make customers happy. Management is always so quick to handle any situation. Love this theater. Great environment. The photos I attached does not give the Imax experience any justice, but you definitely have to try it. Manager Kristy Hernandez is the best ????

Well....came in a Sunday matinee and things are not going well. Waited to order food before anyone would even acknowledge my presence for 15-20 min. No ice at the concession stands...all 4 were completely out at 12:30 in the afternoon. Understaffed today and then the movie isn't working 10 minutes past our start time. People are nice. That's why 2 stars and not 1. But this isn't a good look.

It's very nice, the only problem is there was a bowling ball that was stuck at the end of the gutter, they got it out, but it's still broken. ??

I just wanna say that this theater has a great manager (Cody) with marvelous customer service. As well they have a great bartender (Rachel) with an underground menu that will blow your mind.. I give them a 5 star.. andi do recommend they both get a raise...please..And thank you

Went to see a 12:30 pm movie today 1/146/2025 when the temperature was in the 50s. We were in Theater #6 and the temperature in the theater was very cold even for my husband who was wearing a Tshirt under a long sleeve flannel shirt and a jacket. He went out to ask if someone could raise the temperature. The only person available was the one lady working in the concession area. She said ?it's cold everywhere? and said she wild ?try to find someone to ask. We were uncomfortably cold for the entire 3+ hours w

This place is awesome games bowling and movies! I could spend the entire day here. Justin took care of us and the huge TVs above the bowling lanes let us watch our favorite team lose. I highly recommend this place and will return many times.

Horrible customer ?? horrible movie theater experience ever Bought tickets on online to the homestead location but was send tickets for the Texas location so then to top it off I was on vacation with family and had 9 tickets completely ruined the whole night ?? And then they told me to call the Texas location so I can get a refund. So I been calling for a week now ? since 04-07-2025 ? I have spoke with everyone that answered the phone there and they keeping telling me they will call me back but nobody ever

Well movie theater is terrible today. Floors are dirty and don't look like anything was cleaned from last night. No ice in any of the soda machines. Printers are out of paper so no receipts or physical tickets. What is thought was going to be a great day off to take my daughter to the movies turned into a disappointment. Hope this is not the new norm, if it is, I will driving out of town for movies.

Theater is in need of repair saw black mold casually growing on the wall. Employee in concessions area was rude. Theater was dirty!

So this place had a few different issues. First and foremost the service was terrible. Employees were definitely more focused on talking amongst themselves. Took quite a while to find someone to get us a lane. Then requested service and waited 25 minutes before someone showed up. Ordered quite a few things for the family, and the attendant didn't write any of it down. Forgot a drink, and messed up the fries order bringing us chili fries instead of cheese fries, but charged for chili and cheese. Had to get

My family and I love coming here. The atmosphere is fantastic, management is very curious and friendly and goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. We always get drinks and we had the food for the first time today and the pizza 10/10 would eat again!

The experience is great at EVO. The smooth ordering process of the tickets online. The fact that I can use the rewards app to order my items as always a plus. Seats are great.

Went to the new Hooky Theatre and everything was perfect! Great staff, clean, great popcorn and drinks and wonderful movie!!

There was a dead animal smell coming from the air vent in theater 1. You could smell it every time the air would come on. Also they had two rat traps in plan site at the end of the long hallway by the exit doors. Also no soap in hand soap dispenser in the bathroom.

Kaylin Johnson he so fine and he's a gentleman he was so sweet too he did he's job correctly.

This is a fun place tucked on the backside of Waxahachi. It has arcade games, movies and bowling. I just had time for some arcade games but had a fun hour or so.

So much more than a movie theatre! Comfortable reclining theatre seats. 14 lanes of bowling with huge screens playing music videos and sports. A game room. A full bar with liquor and beer on tap if that's your poison. Seattle needs one of these.

Chris Gann was an amazing person and went above and beyond! The bowling staff and bar was amazing Highly recommend coming here for a great night out with family

makayla has been on top of it with all her work and overall had great customer service

app doesn't work. can't select the waxahachie. only addison. no one answers the phone! it's bs? i?ll just go to b&b. edit: these reviews are ALL from EVO. this isn't for hooky?s! y?all getting catfished. yall got rid of evo nachos & that was the best thing!!!!! BRING IT BACK! bout to start driving to evo now smh.

Had a great time with family here at evo. Good screens and good sound system. As for the ice cream stand bumped into Juan who was working want to say he offers the best customer service in this establishment.

Kaylon Johnson helped us out in redemption with respect and a good job

Love the new design! The reclining seats are amazing. The concession stand is self serve, I'm sure that helps with busy times. Everything was so bright and clean. Games are typical prices with typical prizes. Perfect for myself and my 14 and 4 year old????. Only reason I didn't give a five-star is because the restroom closest to the theater was disgusting.

Love the discount Tuesday movie prices and the new rewards program. The staff keeps theaters very clean and entertainment venue is tops.

We had a GREAT time for my son?s 10th birthday. Juan, the manager, took care of us from when we got there to the time we left. Great service and great fun. I would definitely celebrate our next birthday there.

Noah is the best server this place is really turning things around. Support hachie ??

Came in on Saturday night to watch Moana 2. Usually it is a good experience but last night was awful. The young man at the food counter was doing his best but the manager was awful. Our movie started at 7:25pm we ordered our food two burger meals and a pizza at 6:20pm thinking plenty of time. Nope it was 6:55pm we got our burger meals but no pizza. When I asked how much longer could not give me an answer. At 7:10pm I asked to talk to the manager which was in kitchen her response to the young man who told he

I ordered tickets online to see a movie on February 14th for valentine's day. When I got to the theater they were not showing the movie they had listed on their website. Could not get my money back and just gave me this card since they ran out of vouchers. Tried calling the number but it was just information about general movie needs. I never had issues with this place when it was (Showbiz). No notice to the show being canceled for that day... (Update) after a short time I was able to get my money returned

Makayla is very sweet and she's been very helpful because I was lost in the movies

The bar tender was rude and I tried to get another drink but it seem like he didn't want to serve me anymore .But besides that it was good

Absolutely repulsive that we going to the movie now for 2 with ticket prices at a staggering $25+ along with a small popcorn, small m&ms and a soda for an additional $25. So in total $50 for a decent night out for 2 and you have to deal with trash everywhere butter machine is broke.AND RUDE workers!

Great atmosphere, popcorn was very very good not too salty, just right. Everyone working was very helpful.

Amanda is seriously the best! She was working every station, kind, professional and simply made our Evo experience extra special!

It's fine when there's a big release but in the middle of the week it's terrible. Only junior mints candy stocked, all of the soda had messed up carbonation, no lids, the cups were just falling on the floor. Used to love coming here cuz it's close to the house but it's ran so bad it's worth driving 10 minutes somewhere else

Kaylon Johnson helped us out at the counter and was amazing!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
