Holiday Bowl

Holiday Bowl

Reviews Summary

This bowling alley receives mixed reviews, with many praising its friendly staff, classic atmosphere, and well-maintained lanes (especially after recent upgrades). Several highlight its family-friendly vibe, good food, and reasonable prices. However, some criticize the outdated facility, poor maintenance (stuck balls, broken equipment), and occasional rude or unwelcoming staff. Racism concerns are mentioned in a few negative reviews. While some love its nostalgic, "hole-in-the-wall" charm, others find it dirty or in need of renovations. The consensus leans positive for a casual, local experience but warns of potential service or cleanliness issues.

Customer Reviews

We had our sons birthday party here and it was a great time! Family friendly and the people who work here do a great job! Pizzas were yummy and bowling was fun.

This is a nice quiet bowling alley. It's obviously older, but still fairly nice! There are billiards in the back room and a fairly thorough snack bar! The food is decent, better than some bowling alleys because it's homemade. Nothing is falling apart, and everything overall is very nice. Glad we found this little hole in the wall.

Holiday Bowl is a nice family oriented entertainment facility. It includes food, beverages, game machines, bowling and billiards. This establishment is a safe place to join Bowling and or Billiards Leagues. There is also a shop for Bowlers to shop for equipment. The bar area has friendly and joyful cooks and counter help to maintain great customer request and care. The parking is plentiful! I highly recommend this place if your interest is listed in this review.

It's a good place but could be better, specifically with the stuff, the personal here most of the times are Really Rude & disrespectful. The 2 old guys on front register from Bowling & pool always sounds & seems like they are upset all the time, they need to get better stuff than this,Like the lady from snacks she's so adorable & kind . Everything else is good ?? Best days to play bowling Tuesday,Saturday & Sunday Game per person $4.75 Rental Shoes $4.25

It was a lot of fun very clean very nice staff had bowling and pool played both with the kids

I used to live by here when I was younger, but I never went. I used to have nightmares about being left alone there with a grilled cheese sandwich. I came back years later and finally went in for once. It was a nice place. Everything worked, the food was well priced and fairly good, the people were nice. It also has a decent number of people that come. Anyway, I came back and defeated my nightmare and ordered a grilled cheese, and had a round of bowling.

It was great it has an old time feel food, atmosphere, and staffing are very good and accommodating. The also serve alcohol ??and the also have a place to shoot ?? pool

Pleasantly surprised about this place. My husband and I had a random night where the in laws took the kids. What to do? Not a lot of money? 29 bucks for 2 games and 2 shoe rentals. Had a few beers. So much fun.

Got engaged here. Great bowling here too :)

Excellent staff, took time to tell us about the center, leagues and tournaments. Bowled on the lanes, appeared very well maintained. Looking forward to finding a league to join.

Had a good time. Friendly staff

this place was truly shameful, the cashier was being super rude and the cashier was the old white dude, i would never reccommend coming to this establishment. After being thsts rude and disrespectful, Maybe it was bcs of me and my friends race. Ill warn u people right now dont ever come here! z

Fourth time there on yesterday and I finally bowled well. I didn't bring my benchmark ball and used a stronger cover. Almost perfection!

Classic bowling experience!!!! Spacious Great ball selection

We went for a work function....they have a club sandwich it's pretty good for bowling alley food

Have not bowled there since I was a kid! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The food bar attendant was very accommodating to my low carb diet request which was a steak and cheese sub no bread. She offered to make it into a steak and cheese salad..and even came to my lane to get a cheese preference! It was amazing and I will be back! And I'm glad they are not closing. You don't get this kind of service from Bowlero!!!!

Unfortunately this was not what we were hoping for as a family bowling night. The advertisement was for a night glow bowl with music but neither happened. It gave zeros for multiple turns for no reason, which made the scores of several of us inaccurate. When we mentioned this just to make the business aware as we turned in our shoes, the man behind the counter sarcastically asked, "what, do you want free bowling?" Not great customer service. Lastly, it reeked of weed which isn't family friendly. We'll be lo

Typical bowling alley, only reason it's a 3 star is because the lanes are slanted. My kids 1st time bowling and their balls would roll from the left to the right or from the right to the left when it started in the middle as it got closer to the pins and ended up being gutter balls. It wasn't a happy day for them, even though we cheered them on every attempt they made.

Made me feel like I was back at home new in the area old school bowling alley Feeling

From the outside you will be like, ok...not to sure about this but once inside you will be impressed how clean and well taken care of the inside is. I played pool, did not bowl but they are usually packed so the equipment must be great on that side as well. Service is great and everyone is friendly.

This place isn't my go to alley. When I do it's mostly just for tournaments. Every time I have been here I haven't had any problems. Everyone was nice and helpful. The food leaves a little to be desired but it's just average.

Been here a couple times for company get togethers and a couple times for lunch and it's a decent place. The prices are decent and they recently installed touch screen scoring which is so much easier. They make a great BLT and fries. Staff is always friendly.

They need to nock that building down and rebuild, I was there for a bowling tournament, and the sewer was backed up. Had to go outside and use the restroom. Horrible, never again

Small location I am glad to have found! I would definitely recommend as I had a wonderful time! The staff were so friendly! I was able to get some tips and successfully win 4 games lol. I will be back!

Not coming back. Tried to make reservations for our daughter birthday party on the website, which wasn't working. Then tried to call and make the reservations but their phones weren't working apparently. We get to the bowling alley the day of the birthday and explained what happened to the man at the desk and he said ?It's just common sense to call and make the reservations if the website isn't working.?, in a rude tone. Noticed a lot of the bumper rails on the lanes their were half broken. It was all-in-al

We love this place. It's smaller and older but with all the charm. Everyone is friendly, it's clean, the bowling program is up to date and the food is not only good, it's affordable. And it's not so crowded and loud that you can't enjoy your time.

Brought my son in on Wed. 9/12 @5pm. So he could practice his for the youth leage that i signed him up for on saturday mornings. Came into the place and the man said that there were no lanes available although there was not a soul in the building. My son was very disappointed. Im very disappointed.

I might js be bias cuz I have so many childhood memories there, but it's so amazing and I love it here and it's kinda greasy and crusty but I still love it (good bowling and nachos btw)

EXTREMELY dirty. I would not touch the food with a 10ft pole, half of the gutter guards were broken, and the entire building smelled repulsive and moldy. Workers are uninviting and offputting, and the area its in is even worse. The two old white guys working there have not-so-subtle racist undertones and seem short with anyone who's not also a white man. Not worth the money one bit.

Had a great time. Staff was very helpful and nice. We need help clearing the lanes and it was no problem helping out to make sure our game ran smooth. People like Kevin Bruns are just negative all the way around as well as others. Would revisit anytime. Thanks for ET. PS if you don't want to spend $3 on a can of Miller. Than stay home and and buy your Miller from the store. Some people just find the negative in ET they do or places they visit. Who want to deal with that person.

Everyone in our party had fun. Staff was helpful. Not too enthusiastic, but helpful nonetheless. Place on the outside looks a little scary like you're walking into a horror movie. Just needs some renovations and it will match the bowling alley inside.

It was so fun and if we needed something it was there all i needed to do was just say hey this

Staff was very rude just because we were asking questions about the deposit needed to play billiards we didn't understand. Maybe because we are all young and Hispanics? I don't know but I would not recommend this place to no one. I thought since it's a family owned business it was going to be a great place to have fun but the vibe here is just not pleasant unless your white and wear camo clothes.

Great prices, great people, and a Fantastic atmosphere. We will definitely be going again. Thanks for the great time

A hidden gem in chester. Its nothing fancy, but a bowling alley is a bowling alley. It's always clean, everyone is friendly is the food isn't terrible (although the pizza is overpriced for what you get. It's a very bland generic pre-made oven pizza)

Wow I was curious to see if this place was still open. I haven't been there since I was a kid. My friends and I spent a lot of weekends there. Our parents would drop us off and pick us up when it closed. Back then parents could leave their kids and it was always safe. I miss those days.

Very rude as soon as we walked in, didnt greet us, automatically said no drinks aloud because i had a water container to make my 6 month old daughter a bottle with, "said theres a sign right here" and pointed to small piece of paper behind him on wall. Were going to bowl in a more family friendly setting !! I wouldnt ever suggest going here !!

Always a fun place for the family. Food and drinks are good. Clean environment with a friendly staff. Would have left a five star if they would have let us know ahead of time that their bowling league was coming, but besides that it was a great time. Would highly recommend.

A ok place to go and spend time with family and friends. Don't order the food though. It wasn't any good and over priced. It's like they use the same oil for everything. We had children tenders that tasted like funnel cakes. I also think these days shoes should be included in bowling fees. Just my opinion though!

Was called to Sub on league last Tuesday evening. I frequent many bowling centers in the area have to say the shot the lat two sub nights nat Holiday was exceptionally good. It will be tragic if this center is closed down.

This place is cheap and not really crowded. There was one other car at 6:00. The place is still very fun and not at all run down. The food is also decent and not too expensive.

The place is infested with roaches. The man at the shoe counter handed us a pair of shoes with a roach crawling on it! When my boyfriends daughter saw it, she screamed ew daddy a bug and when we looked to the man behind the counter, he just stared at us like the whole conversation wasn't even happening. There were roaches all over his counter so I'm sure they are probably 10ft away over at the kitchen too.

The Lanes Were Very Dry Food Was Great Don't Know If I Would Bowl There Again

Pretty upset about posting tho review. We love to shop local and we love our community. We run two businesses and have two toddlers so we never get to get out on our own. Tonight we finally had a night to ourselves so we wanted to go out and do something. We arrived here at 8:30 and we were a little skeptical because as soon as we walked in they turned off the billiard room lights. But we asked if we could play a few games and they turned back on the light no problem. 9:00pm rolls around and they start clea

Went for a party the staff was rude and not helpful. We had a group of kids and it took us a long time just to get the lane set up and working properly they didn't even get to finish a game. The lanes have to be reset after every turn and the balls get stuck almost every single time as well. The lanes/computers are really poorly maintained. I would not recommend this place at all.

This place is not all that big but it is very homey. There were so many families enjoying each other. I love seeing the love!!???? The man and young man running the place were very nice and attentive!

Holiday has been our bowling leagues home now for 2 years. Since we started there, the alley has update the scoring systems and TVs making the alley feel newer. This year they have really up'ed the service as well including a new drink menu and a waitress staff.

Such a fun, and chill place. We love going to that ?? alley. The older male worker (maybe the owner) that's always thr is very nice too!

Lanes were good, that's it. Terrible food and terrible prices on beer. $3 for a can of Miller? No way I'm paying $18 for 6 canned beers, I wouldn't pay that if they had a tap either.

I have bowled here for over 3 years now and it is by far on of the best ran bowling alley's that I have ever been to. They just got new up to date screens and will continue to be my go to bowling alley. Great job guys

We bowl here weekly. Like the old-time vibe but why do they allow vaping at the lanes??? Isn't this illegal in public places?

Family went bowling. Had a great time and place was fine. Food was a lot better then I expected. The experience and the place was good enough that we intend to go back like bi-monthly.

Had a great time! It's been a year since bowling for my family. 2 hours of bowling cost $140 for 6 people. Is that the new normal?

Their website is incorrect. Definitely call before going. Drove all the way there and they didn't have open lanes. Leagues are on Fridays, but there website.doesnt say anything about that.

Old school alley fun and they have pool tables and games. We will be having our son's birthday there very soon!

Thought is was great. Great staff. Good food and the beer was cold. Had a great time , haven't bowled in years!!

It's an older building but the lanes have the newest scoring systems with all kinds of social media built in to share your experience. We weren't expecting that. Nice.

Overall decent. We felt they were over priced and if youre wanting beer, forget it. $3+ for cans and bottles and no pitchers.

Lanes were great tonight, shot 700 scratch. Should have shot higher, 3 poor shots stopped 700 from being 750-770 or better. Over all great night.

Might be an old house but everything seems to work really well , easy the score their Lane conditions in great shape approach is a little tacky for me but everybody seem to have done fine I will go back love their doubles tournament first Saturday of every month

Decent place clean establishment friendly staff food so so. Overall very good enjoyed my time there

I went with my family and the receptionist attended us in the worst way, he is a racist with Latin American people

Good place for a family outing

The staff was not nice and insulted my Pikachu. The pizza was moldy and they told me to give them money for a pair of shoes. I told them "these shoes are mine and I don't care if they say holiday bowl on them I'm keeping 'em." They then too me to leave or they would call the popo. That is how I went to jail the first time. Also, a guy dropped a bowling ball on my mother and said, "whoops" and kept on walking. Yeah never going there ever again.

Nice place and staff

Pro: nice lanes. Very clean. Good food. Con: Dont go on tuesday. Call a head to make sure they have lanes b.c they dont have many and in the league nights there are none open.

For Bowling lane food, at a long standing, privately owned lanes, the food tastes good and is priced fairly. The servers/ cooks are all friendly and know how to run a grill and fryer

Food us great people are friendly just don't understand why they crowd people on one side and don't use the other

Staff wasn't very friendly and I call before we went for prices. Definitely paid a lot more than I expected because the information I received on the phone wasn't completely accurate.

The best lil hidden billiards/pool palace in town, Regular tournaments, fun play, plus they have bowling for the Kids and an adult section with awesome food and FIREBALL to boot!!!!(ALCOHOL NOT FOR CHILDREN)... I recommend you give it a try you wont regret it!!! TELL'M MAMA Gee sent ya!!!

Terrible time! no music, funny smell, bad staff, no arcade, there is no bar, sketchy food, don't go bottom line

Actually everything was good. Reasonable prices.

Very nice place clean pool tables. Not crowded arround the tables plenty of space. Nice people fair prices per hour.

Could really use some updates. Great staff.

Clean, fun and everybody?s pretty Happy! Prices are good and it's also a good place to go play pool!

I have been bowling in a league there for over 25 years. All of the staff are great, the food is good and the prices are the best in town. Bill Pope

The staff was very rude and would not want to rent us shoes! The prices were very high for such a hole in the wall bowling alley! Will never go here again!

Needs better bowling balls and newer and larger shoes but overall a great price and time.

Fantastic gem. Take a pass on the uptown alley and come to this place. MAJOR family friendly.

This place is ok the staff here is pretty bad they are always pretty rude and you have to say your order like five times and they sill manage to mess it up at least from the times I've been which has only been on Sunday nights

Love this bowling alley, the small, local feeling is great and we go a few times a week to get a few games in. Staff is great and it's clean!

Love this place! The staff is friendly and the concession bar/food is really good for a bowling alley.

The staff are very kind, at least on Saturday evenings. They squeezed us in last minute and were very friendly.

Good food and friendly staff. Great place for a family outing.

Nice place. Friendly staff.

Nice staff hold the Special Olympics Bowling Regionals today

My wife and I played three games and the price was $29. We used to bowl three games at century lanes in Hampton Virginia once a week and the bill would be $14. We will not be back, I would not recommend this establishment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
