Highlands Sports Complex

Highlands Sports Complex

Reviews Summary

This sports facility is generally praised for its cleanliness, variety of activities (arcade, rock climbing, multiple sports courts), and helpful staff. Many appreciate its spacious, well-maintained design and convenient location. However, several reviewers criticize high costs, including expensive entry fees for tournaments and overpriced concessions. Some note poor supervision in climbing areas and limited affordability for larger families. While most rate it highly for events and sports, the pricing structure is a recurring drawback, making it less accessible for some visitors.

Customer Reviews

Highlands Sports Complex provided an outstanding birthday party experience for my daughter. The kids loved the climbing activities and arcade, and the unlimited food and drink options were a great value. The staff handled all setup and cleanup, were incredibly friendly, and ensured everything went smoothly. The modern, clean facility made it even better. Highly recommend for stress-free and fun celebrations or everyday fun!

Went for a gymnastics competition. Place is very large and quite nice. It has decent amount of restrooms and good food options. They had other events going on so very busy and the parking was not the best. After circling a few times had to park in a gravel side space so if you need a handicap space you may be out of luck

The facility is nice and the staff is helpful. The sports facilities are nive and well maintained. As for the bad, well the cost is pretty high and good grief don't buy food, it is very expensive and not always fresh. The restrooms don't seem to be cleaned regularly but weren't awful.

Me and my family were here for Tournament of Champions. They hosted the best ran wrestling individuals I have ever been to. Plenty of room and bathroom space.

First time being at this facility. The restrooms were clean everything is modern. Indoor food court with a arcade, multiple levels. Alot to do for the whole family. Indoor sports fields, rock climbing etc etc.

Amazing sports complex! Went here for a robotics competition this year and last year. Floors and clean and the facility well maintained. Staff are also very friendly, and the rock climbing is a nice addition!

This place is nice! It is an all in one sports complex, with a full game room and cafe! I really liked it, I will be back?.some of the workers were rude but for the most part, my experience was great!

If I could give negative stars I would. Complete ripoff. $15/per day to watch kids sports that we already paid for. No weekend discounts. Don't bring a family or you will pay the mortgage of the building for the month. $4 for a styrofoam cup of burnt coffee.

Very clean, well kept facility. Parking tricky for LARGE events but manageable. Some of the cleanest public restrooms I've ever been in.

Very nice complex! So much to do around the complex as well as inside. Facility was clean and well taken care of.

I was looking for something for my son to do, and I remember The Sports Complex at the Highlands. He truly enjoyed playing basketball with other boys his age, we stayed close to 3 hour! I will definitely take him again. Nice clean facility, and the staff were helpful.

Large multipurpose facility with a lot of supporting business, hotels, and restaurants in the area. Building is very clean and organized. Event we attended was well organized and had support from the facility.

Great venue for multiple sports. Indoor turf had lines for football, soccer, and indoor baseball- very impressed. Then the other side of the facility had roughly 6-8 full size basketball/volleyball courts!! Concession was decent, but overwhelmed with the number of people attending the event(s).

My son left his new nike tech jacket there we called the worker said it was there and they had it but when we showed up somebody had already taken it.His sister bought it for him for his birthday so it meant something to him plus its 150.00 jacket!

Very nice facility for volleyball tournaments. Not overly crowded, good services and clean restrooms.

Had a roller derby tournament here, great place!! It was my first time there & I was impressed.

Awesome sports complex, one of the best I've ever been to. The concession stand has a wide variety of food and fruit. Bathroom's are clean and are completely touch less. They even have birthday and event rooms!

Very nice facility, however, front desk lady could use some customer service training.

Soo much fun! We did the rock climbing and the arcade! The rock climbing was soooo much fun!!@

Very nice facility. Nice game room. Didn't eat there but has a little food area too.

Utilized the outdoor softball field today.

Beautiful love it out there my Brother play football

Expensive!! My wife and I had to pay $25 each to go in and watch our 8 year old grandson wrestle. Most facilities charge us $5-10. $50 on fixed income is a lot. Of course we went, but we're not using any of the facility just watching there should be a special admission price for that.

Extremely clean and a perfect place to have indoor tournaments for baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, football. They have a full concession stand and family arcade.

It's nice to see such a large building so busy with different activities. It's a wonderful facility that offers the community a safe place to be entertained and watch others compete. Wide range of events that draw the community to come to.

Good fun and the food is good, but it's a bit pricey.

Great place, the arcade is fun

Certainly not for families who don't have a ton of money to spend. The facility is fantastic but cannot be enjoyed by every child in the area due to their outrageous prices. $6 for a hotdog make it a chilli dog for $9?! Absolutely insane food prices on top of it. If you have a larger family like myself, it was a huge disappointment that we couldn't enjoy ourselves without bring a few hundred dollars with us. Had to turn around and go elsewhere for a family outing ??

My daughter is on a volleyball team and practices here. It's a really nice facility. Second year doing volleyball

Facility was clean and had easy access from the interstate. We utilized the outdoor turf field for a soccer game. There were bleachers, it was nice to not have to carry our own chairs in. Very busy place with lots going on, appreciated the on-site concessions. There is also a wide variety of restaurants near if you prefer that over the concessions.

Came for a Birthday Party - nice Arcade made better with affordable ticket items and fun big ticket items -fun staff. The Climbing area was amazing -staff was very attentive - kids had all kinds of structures to climb on and challenge themselves. Birthday Party Rooms are too far away from this area as our guests got mixed into all of the sports tournaments going on. Nevertheless it was a nice place and the conference room held our group well.

Every time we go there to play with the son it is rented out to clubs schools and the like. Never new all these schools had money to rent facilities when they can not even furnish stuff for the kids all say teachers have to buy so many supplies for students to teach them. It is not for any one only for those who want to spend a lot of money to rent the whole thing out. It is nice clean and the people are friendly. Just not for the individual if your not in a club or on a school function not for you and the

Went here for a craft show and not for the sports facilities. But if I was a few years younger, still active in sports, and lived closer, I would love to play soccer in any of their fields. Looks and felt like a top notch facility!

Was here recently for a softball tournament with the team I coach. Everyone I spoke with was very polite and helpful. Each umpire we had knew the rules, went above and beyond to answer my questions and help the girls learn the game. We will be returning!!

Took my daughter up here for her bday! They were so accommodating & friendly! Kept checking up on us if we needed anything. Had everything provided that we needed. Great prices. Very helpful. Everyone had a great time. Will absolutely be back! Staff is very well trained in customer service. We all loved the rock wall climbing & the arcade room. So nice to have a facility like this for the family or date nights that's local in our area.

The place to be for anyone who enjoys a good time. All of the premier tournaments in the panhandle area including volleyball wrestling basketball softball and more are held here. Good food. Excellent management. Cleanest restrooms. Must visit.

This place is absolutely amazing....and they are even done with the completed build yet either. Basketball, indoor soccer, football all have great fields & courts and plenty of them. They have plans to build a swimming pool on location. It has a great little arcade & and a pretty awesome rock wall climbing facility. Great spot for a birthday party too. Personal sports trainers are also available. I'd give it 6 stars if I was able to. GO here! You won't regret it

Huge space for all types of sports and a great venue for anything and everything!

Went today with my 4 year old and 14 year old sons. Listen, staff was TOP notch. Very attentive, kind, accommodating, interactive, and very good with my kids!!! The facility was impressive. Very clean. And the whole experience was fantastic. So much to offer there. The boys were entertained for hours. So glad i found this place!! Definitely will be back!

This place is huge. Clean and well kept up. $5 admission, not horrible, but I was there for summer league games. I did see 6 basketball courts, 2 football/soccerr fields, and an arcade, that's just inside.

First time I have visited this place, heard about it often. I went to the Christmas Expo they had last weekend. I can not tell you how big of an event this was, plus how spacious. So many vendors and they have so.much to offer and even other facilities. I will be going back

I cannot say enough good things about this facility. Both of my kids have used this -- daughter for volleyball, and my son for basketball. The facility has so much to offer, from the courts and field, to an arcade and rock climbing. It is an awesome addition to the Highlands shopping center. And parents, you can go do other activities while your child practices. A win/win all the way around. We will be using this facility for many years to come.

We stopped to see the Ohio Valley Snake and Reptile Expo. It was interesting. I'd never been to a show like this. It was very well attended by exhibitors and shoppers.

Have gone here two weekends to watch my two neices in the basketball tournaments. Very nice facility, clean, easy to navigate. Nice arcade, lots to do for everyone. Rooms available for Birthday parties etc. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the $11 per person, per day charge for spectators and athletes to watch and participate in the tournaments. We were not using any part of the facility. And 3 day tournaments. That's a lot to cheer on your team, plus food was expensive as well.

Huge, amazing new fun place to take the kiddos. Very cleanness builsing and friendly staff.

Super neat experience with the kiddo, he wrestled the Tyrant Tussle here. The facility was comfortable as far as temperature, the food was fairly priced, and we visited the arcade while there.

Excellent sports facility to take your family t and enjoy the day. They have a climbing room, arcade, many sports courts and other activities

We were there today for a birthday party. My daughter had an amazing time, however, while in the climbing area there was very little supervision. She actually climbed to the very top of one of the structures without her belay on. It took the mother of the birthday girl yelling at them, for someone to even notice. There were several other times the employees were all just standing around in a circle on their phones, not paying attention to the kids. In general, the facility is great. But, I'm not sure we'll

Was here for a baseball game, but the field was nice, building was large with lots of activities. Was pretty busy while I was there. Looked like a good place for a family day! Has food, too.

We were there for a basketball tournament. The facility is beautiful, the staff is very friendly. Definitely something for everyone here. It's like a Disney for athletes. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

My son has football practice up there the other day. He absolutely loved it. The facility itself is amazing. The arcade and Rock wall are nice things to do as a family.

Nice place. Lots of accommodations.

Had my son's 10th birthday party here. An awesome facility for parties and local sports. The rock climbing area is really cool, food was great, and the arcade was a nice touch.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. My son got his brand new soccer ball stuck and the facilities said they would get it down within a week?it's been over 4 weeks at this point. Every time I call to see if they got it down they keep saying they'll call when they get it down, and when I email they won't return my emails. It's been over a month people. How hard is it to get a ball down? How hard is it to be honest and to actually return a call or email?

Love this place! They have good concessions and activities to do while in between games, including first rate rock climbing courses and a descent sized arcade room.

I went there for the Wheeling Area Home & Garden expo/ craft show. It is a really nice facility with lots of convenient parking available. There was plenty of room for all of the vendors as well as the people in attendance.

Staff went above and beyond in locating some items that were inadvertently left at the complex. Complex GM went so far as to check garbage cans for our missing items. Arena is absolutely beautiful, not to mention a great location.

Went to a Volleyball event there. Was a fantastic facility to watch an event. Bright, Clean, lots of room. Has decent concessions for all tastes.

This place is awesome.......best place for sports activities

Good experiences every visit. Great facility.

Amazing place, kids love it. Wish it was more affordable for all demographics. As far as sports for kids, I'm the grandmother and even me and my son working full time cannot afford to pay to get kids into certain sports, especially with me than one child..

We spent an hour playing kickball. Without any offers of anything to drink... we waited! Go back to our room, have our party, Bluetooth wouldn't auto connect, and then they tell us to go to rock climbing, never mention an age requirement until after 2 out of my 3 kids were strapped up! Can't even let my 3 year old walk around or anything with my other 2 children. So I have to miss out on them enjoying the rock wall while I stand there and wait with my 3 year old as threw a fit! If mentioned prior, I would h

Kids loved it. The photo booth isn't for kids to get pictures tho. You'll have to hold them at 3 4 feet

This had to be designed by a parent who has multiple children and the oldest plays a club team sport. Plenty of room, clean bathrooms, arcade, and concessions. Brilliant!

First time visit. Very busy place but managble. Visited the Arcade and disappointed that the rock wall section was booked up, ???. Looked around and watched some of the competitions that were being held. Staff seemed stressed but helpful.

Nice facility, one of the only ones tjat charges us an entry fee for JO volleyball. $11 each person each day, $22 per person for the weekend and we provided the entertainment. Considering all otjer tournaments are free entry since our teams pay a high price to be there. Other tjan that its a very nice place. The absolute best sink fawcetts in the country! There is water, soap, and hand dryer all in the fawcett. Star Trek Voyager aint got technology this futuristic. Maybe its why they charge a high en

Awesome job on the wrestling tournament everything went smoothly great food options plenty of room and a friendly upbeat atmosphere!

Good place to rock climb, bad place to have low self-esteem and feel like everyone is judging you! "Yes! I know I'm morbidly obese. As I was eating a rotisserie chicken waiting for my turn to climb!"

Had my sons birthday party here. Great fun and service. They do all the work so you can enjoy your child's party.

Nice and clean facility!

It is a very beautiful Complex.

Beautiful Facility. I went to watch my niece play a soccer game on the outdoor field.

Very nice complex. They have great sport areas, an arcade area and a great rock climbing area for kids which is very reasonably priced.

Impressive! Clean, massive areas hosting a variety of sporting events. I saw teams playing soccer, a large volleyball tournament playing on 4 courts, video arcade, climbing walls, and private rooms for birthday parties.

Brought the kids here a few times. They love it and keep wanting to come back. Place is huge, they love the indoor field, basketball court, and arcade.

It's a nice clean comfortable place to watch a football game.

Was there for a charitable fundraiser,we all had a fun time.

Great place. My grandson loved the rock climbing area. Very reasonably priced. 12 and under is 10.00 for an hour.

BEAUTIFUL FACILITY! excellent use of space and there is so much more coming in the future! LOVE this location for volleyball, can't wait to have tournaments here... (hopefully soon)

Great place for many sports; also very good for birthday parties!

Packed house but clean, very nice place. Wish the batting cage was more available. Having to rent everything weeks before is not a great thing.

Great facility for events. Even has arcade and rock climbing area. Nice and clean bathrooms as well.

So much to do. Loved the arcade and the climbing walls! Excited to sign our kids up for all the sports options.

Seems like a great place for some wrasslin'! Beautiful venue, helpful staff. Heck yeah.

We love it. The staff was so nice. We enjoyed the arcade and rock climbing. Definitely coming back.

We love rock climbing, the arcade and watching football here. Free parking and reasonably priced.

Been there for many Volleyball tournaments. Great venue. Excellent concessions.

Very nice sports complex, was the 1st time visiting, was there watching basketball games, was very impressed ??

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are virtual reality games in arcades worth playing?

Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
