BIG FUN and IT WAS CLEAN At first I thought it was expensive- but they just charge you differently. I don't know I didn't do the math, but I think it evens out. Main point is it's big fun And I don't think I've ever been in a bowling alley that felt clean in my entire life so? Plus, if you order chicken nuggets, there's a little robot that will deliver them to you it's not like the creepy robot at Stop & Shop. It's a nice happy little food delivering robot You should go
Such fun for kids. The little pins and bowling balls are much more gentle than regular bowling. Their Saturday night black light bowling was such fun. The food is solid, though slow. They have a fun, cute robot cat server. The only real issues were the run down condition of the bathrooms. They were clean but barely even functional. But still lots of fun. Would return.
Went for a birthday party. Its a small duckpin bowling alley with a small arcade and cafe. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The best part though was the absolutely adorable pizza delivery robot. So so cute. Will be back again for a family night of bowling.
This place is amazing. Old school bowling atmosphere that I haven't experienced since I was a kid. Plan on having my 44th birthday here so the cat robot can bring me pizza and beer.
We had a good time celebrating my grandson's birthday. I think should have more space and sell alcohol drinks in a way that the kids don't notice what it's.
what a fun family experience, duck pin bowling and a super cute arcade. We loved the robot that brought our food to us, super cute.
I took my boyfriend here for a date I planned and we had a lot of fun it was super affordable and easy. I myself never heard of duck pin bowling but he has. I was sweating like I was nervous cause it was so hot but I'm sure it's not always like that?(?) anyway I think I'd go back I liked it. Although I lost?twice ??
Family friendly, food great,atmosphere very homey,easy prices,overall a 10
A great experience. We could tell the family takes pride in their business. We'll be sad when places like these are no more.
It's been a while (years) since I've been here. Used to live in NY and make road trips with friends here to play duckpin since we don't have it on long island. Prices were fair, the food was really good, the staff was super friendly. Met the owner a few times, nice chatting with him and the staff. I'd love to come back but a drive up from Florida is quite the trip.
The staff are professional, friendly, and passionate about keeping one of the few duckpin bowling spots around alive and thriving. The pizza they hand toss is good too! Highly recommend a visit.
I bowl every Monday night and its a pleasure to see the owner Todd there making sure the entire place is tip top clean. His Mom is in the kitchen youve gotta get one of her handmade pizzas
Their were 7 of us.4 children & 3 adults.Everyone working there were very helpful.
I love this place , my kids and our family love it too. We did one birthday party in the memorial weekend and even when they were short of staff they were amazing. Greatly recommend.
Great time with family and friends at the Highland Bowl NYE dancing ducks go bowling party!
Fun for tge whole family and staff was awsome
It's a little pricey, but it's clean and the staff were very nice. They also have arcade games. The food was delicious. Easy to get to. My husband, granddaughter, and I had a wonderful time. Lots of fun and tons of smiles. It's definitely worth going to.
We held a birthday party here recently and were very happy with our decision to use a Highland Bowl. The staff was attentive and friendly, the pizza was great and the kids especially loved the arcade area and the food delivery robot! I highly recommend Highland bowl to anyone looking to host a party, or a fun family night out- we will definitely return!
We just had a birthday party here for a group of kids ranging from ages 2 to 8. The kids had a blast. Booking was super easy and the owner was very pleasant about having to reschedule our party. The set up was great, pricing was very reasonable and facility was clean but most importantly the kids had a wonderful time!
Just went bowling here today. This is a great place for all ages! There are lanes for the young ones with bumpers, as well as other lanes for everyone else. It has a great retro vibe, but also has new upgrades including automatic scoring. We went with our adult children and we all had a great time. Saw a lot of young children enjoying a birthday party, as well as some older bowlers having a good time. The staff were very nice and friendly. The place was very clean and had a wonderful selection of food
Overpriced food. Arcade games are wonky and don't work correctly, end up spending credits and don't get to play the arcade games. They use drain pipe as bumpers. Bowling itself is cheap.
We had so much fun here! The wings were great and Ty made me my fancy cocktail I asked for with no questions asked.
First time here. First time ever bowling with a 3 year old. Such an amazing family run business. So much fun! Very clean. We cannot wait to go back. The automated scoreboard was easy to use. I would recommend highland bowl to anyone looking for a fun place to go.
Family run. Lots of fun. Affordable ($69 for two hours, five people including shoes, unlimited soda, large pizza). Went there twice while in CT. Duck pin bowling is awesome. It's easier for kids because the balls are smaller, but they can actually roll them versus a regular bowling ball. On the other hand, it's a little harder for adults because you have to have better aim. Used to have one in WI. None on the west coast. Wish they did. Definitely will come back.
Clean facility, good service at the desks, and up-to-date software to keep score.
Don't know what's with the negative remarks about the place and staff. Maybe everyone making negative comments still lives in their parents basements and needs a safe space and crayons to calm their tempers. With that said it's a great place perfect for the kids and the staff is amazing. Food is also good and my kids had a great time.
Had a wonderful time with my grandkids and Father!! I love the bowling balls because they are Great for kids!! My 3 year old grandson had absolutely no issues with the balls being too heavy etc. However the icing on the cake was the Manager. He was absolutely AWESOME!! He was very kind and actually came over to show us how everything worked at the bowling alley because it was our first time at this establishment. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you for your kindness and customer service!!!
So amazing! Such a fun time with my team. So glad to have a local bowling alley! Clean, fun friendly.
Came here as part of an adult birthday party and had a really great time. Everything was clean and well kept, the food was good, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Great drinks and pretty decent beer selection too. Will definitely be back.
Might be the best duckpin alley in the state. Automatic scoring, arcade, and decent food and drink selection. Its a family run place so on rare occasion the place isn't open right when they say they will but otherwise a well run operation by people who care about their business.
Went there for a 7 yr old birthday party and the kids and parents alike had a blast. Very fun time for the whole family!
First time visiting here we really injoyed it we had a blast with the glow in the dark duck pins bowling. Also I was surprised with the food, very good burgers made fresh to order so little bit of a wait but wel worth it. Saturday nights starting at 7 the lights go out and glow in the dark begins.
We had a great time as a family at Highland Bowl this past weekend. There wasn't much of a wait to Bowl and they have some pretty cool arcade games to keep you busy while you waited for a lane to open up. The lanes are modernized with computerized scoring systems and each lane was equipped with a hand sanitizer station. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the pizza was quite good. Not what I expected for a bowling alley. There was actually someone hand tossing dough and a real pizza oven. D
I took my daughter Nicolena there for her first time duckpin bowling. We had a very fun time. The food is priced good and the food is good too. Can't wait to bring her to dancing ducks.
Went in with a big party tonight and everything was awesome! Pizza was delicious, service was great and we all had a great time. Had people in my party from 3 years old to 66 and everyone loved it! Will definitely be back! Thank you Todd!
Went tonight for cosmic bowling ?? The place was a little crowded but plenty of hand sanitizer and the staff was very friendly
Todd has upgraded his bowling alley where it is up there with technology. The house is very well kept. They also decorate for the holidays. Great place for bowlers and families.
There is one star because bowling is fun. But the entire time we were there there was inconvenience and condicention: when we got there there was no where to park, it was so congested that just walking through the door I felt like I was going to be groped. I witnessed the owner yell at a child for passing in the way of his weird robot waitress that is not covered so anyone can touch it into the crowd on the way to the table. He yelled at us for asking for balls, my receipt stated a pitcher was purchased for
Staff was super friendly. My 5 yr old had so much fun bowling and at the arcade. The bowling balls are perfect for kids. The bathrooms were perfectly clean as well. Highly recommend for a family night
Horrible experience! I seriously don't know how this place has such high ratings. Horrible customer service... The rude woman behind the counter misunderstood when we said 9 bowlers and charged us for 10. When we went to enter the names at our Lane, I noticed that it was trying to make us add an additional name before we could move onto the next screen. I went back to the counter to ask how to delete the blank name and she said we couldn't and we had to add someone. I told her we didn't have anyone else to
Friendly and courteous staff that creates a welcoming and fun family environment. They work hard to abide by Covid guidelines by social distancing bowlers, cleaning all balls/lanes/equipment regularly and after use, and requiring masks. Duck pin bowling is great fun for novices and pros alike as there's a challenge in it for everyone. We went during their cosmic bowling time which illuminates the lanes with black lights and fog flowing all throughout the alley, and it was a great deal of fun, and an excelle
Todd Turcotte, Ryan and the team provide a safe, fun, family experience with great treats and eats at the grill too!
We went in the afternoon around 3pm. This is NOT the bad stereotype bowling alley that is equally about the bar and tired food than bowling. Or overrun by the league. Instead I was pleasantly surprised to find that while it does allow you to buy alcohol with your food, it was clean and bright, and geared towards families. They have other distractions and games like skeeball. Lots of fun.
Been bowling here with my kids several times (although they look forward to the arcade part more!), then had my son's birthday there. Good value, good fun, kids were happy! Try duckpin bowling if you haven't yet!
Friendly staff. Automatic scoring. A Very cool robot that delivers your concession orders. My family and I had a blast. Definitely will go back.
Great little place to bring the kids. It was very clean with the usual amenities. Food, drinks, a small arcade. The duckpins make it so much easier for the little kids.
Absolutely wonderful, the staff was extremely attentive. Ryan was especially helpful and kind. It was my first time duckpin bowling and I couldn't have felt more welcome
I got told that I was going to have the place shut down because I brought a dunkin donuts coffee inside ?? . All they needed to say was " sorry, no outside drinks aloud" but instead I got a lecture on how I was going to get the place shut down. And how bad it was for me to do that. But anyways, I came for a kids birthday party . whole nother story - we'd be here all day . basically they barely let them bowl and then for an hour they're supposed to eat and then they give them a few tokens each to play the mo
Lots of fun. Great place for hanging with the adults or taking the kids. They have food, drinks, and a bar. A little for everyone. Will definitely go again
The night before my wife and I were married, we rented 10 lanes at Highland Bowl and invited all our younger friends to come bowl with us, in lieu of a bachelor/bachelorette party. We had a blast. Todd was extremely helpful and flexible in arranging the details of the event and even called me the day before to make sure there weren't any last-minute changes and to check on his inventory of snacks and booze based on our predicted drink needs. He suggested the glow-in-the-dark bowling and music choices and re
Great place to have a kids birthday party. The adults even had a fun time!
#bestdateever Good price good fun, great drinks! The place is open nearly all the time and very personable, they make you feel comfortable and will teach you some tricks as most of them are professional duck pin bowlers!
I came here with my friends who live in Cheshire. I am from Long Island. The old woman who checked us in and gave us the rental shoes was very nice and friendly. We got to our lane and didn't know how to reset the pins at first. When one of my friends approached an older man with a Highland Bowl shirt on and asked him if he worked there the guy responded sarcastically with "No I am just sitting here." Then we were near the end of our second game and the pinsetter had a problem. It wasn't resetting the pins
Cool place for duckpin bowling in ct. And its all digital so you dont have to keep track of scores manually. Good for young kids and is socially distanced for covid. There are even events for birthdays and somthing on saturday. Will recommend.
Went here for a birthday party for one of my child's classmates and while it was a good time, there were a couple of things that would make me not want to go back. There's no ATM but there are arcade games so be sure to bring cash with you bc the token machine doesn't take cards. As for the bowling aspect of the party. There were around 10 kids on 2 lanes (the adults didn't play). We were only on the 7th frame when we were prompted to return the shoes bc the pizzas were ready. One of the hosts went to ask
Great experience at highland bowl, played a few games and got some food after. Pizza was great and the owner Mike is very nice!
We had such a wonderful time. I love the fact that it's a family owned business. Everyone there was so nice and helpful especially the owner. We will be visiting again. ????????
Everything was out of date. The score keeping machine wouldn't work. The employees were not friendly. Trying to make the machine work took about 30 mins of our time and we didn't get that back. The employees were rude and didn't want to help fix the machine. Kept saying ?next week will be better? I'm sorry I paid for today to work and today to play. I will never be back!!
I went to inquire about their birthday parties and the lady said the birthday flyers were on the counter and that I had to book it online and then walked away. She was not friendly or pleasant in any way! She barely even made eye contact. It was so rude of her and very unprofessional and I will never go back there again!!!
I bowl here regularly. There are fewer Duckpin centers with every passing year and the owner of Highland is enthusiastically committed to maintaining the best center in Connecticut. Lanes are in good condition, pinsetters are kept working as well as possible for historic technology. The food is also a step above with all items cooked fresh to order. Most leagues are looking for more bowlers on week nights or stop in weekends for open bowling or kids parties.
I was here with a group of friends back in December. I'm not good at bowling myself but it's a lot of fun and I think duckpin bowling balls are easier to handle than the other bowling balls. Pizza and drinks were included in the bowling fees but the pizza is about the same quality as Ellio's microwave pizza, so don't expect too much there.
I was in there last week. Very cool. Lots of history. Good luck many years ahead.
This was so much fun. I had never been duck bowling before. Food & drinks were also reasonably priced.
This is a fantastic place to bring children. This is Duckpin Bowling which is a small bowling ball, similar to a Skee-Ball. It has a small arcade that the children can learn tickets to get prizes. In addition it has a great selection of food. Their prices are very reasonable.
Great place for duck pin bowling! A bit dated but what bowling alley isn't these days. They have digital score keeping as well as a full arcade and hot food bar.
Not many Duck Pin Alleys as there used to be. Staff is friendly and keep the place clean. Food is pretty good for something to snack on
I love this place because it's fun and affordable! Employees are very nice and helpful! I go here with family as often as I can and you should too ??
First off, stafff utterly rude and disrespectful, DID NOT GIVE MY CHANGE BACK. Games were not functioning asked for a refund and refused to give my refund. If you are thinking about coming don't because you'll be highly dissapointed.
The place is fine, very dated. Duck pin bowling is fun, especially for little kids. The prices are reasonable for an hour of entertainment.
Best birthday party ever. Excellent! Kids had a ball. Staff was very nice and trim care of everything.
Amazing! I always come here with my friends every month on Saturday for glow night! Cheap and good quality! Love it!??
Nicely remodeled and convenient to reserve online. Great time was had by tweens and teens in our group!
Good family spot, I have never been duck bowling before but it was definitely fun. The food is ok.
Duckpin bowling at its best. Great family run operation. Awesome food. Tip the robot.
Great food, great owner, great experience. Absolutely recommend this place especially with their new rules it feels very safe
Fun place, have kids, been here for a couple birthday parties. Always accommodating. It's duck pin bowling.
Very clean bowling alley, decent priced, not crowded at all, staff very pleasant and helpful
Very clean, lanes and equipment is well maintained, food and drink is inexpensive and good
Always a great time! Great family owned business, the homemade pizza is delicious as well.
Great place to have fun with your friends!! Friendly and courteous staff. I'd definitely recommend!!
fun with the kids and small groups. The scoring system is really old. So if you do not know how to score just enjoy the bowling.
Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, good food, and fantastic staff. No wonder I see myself returning to this place so often!
It was busy and ok. Didn't play any music though.
Awesome staff, very helpful and friendly. 1st time with the kids there and we will definitely be going back.
Fun! Bowling was well priced. And they are currently going under renovation so the place will look awesome when they are finished.
Great place! Fun for all! Friendly staff.
Great place to take the kids. Better than the Hamden duckpin. Games for the kids even drinks for the adults
Very family friendly. Staff was more than helpful and kept the surfaces disinfected.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
