Customer Reviews

Hartland has been a fixture in Ship Bottom for decades. The course is fun and the greens have always been maintained. While it is probably the best looking of the central golf courses, the greens are starting to be a little tilted and uneven. The arcade has also (admittedly like almost all arcades) turned into a lot of ticket machines - the 6 player X-Men cabinet is long gone. It's still well worth golfing here, I go every trip to the island. There are steps and elevation changes, and it is cash only.

A pleasant mini-golf course that manages to pack a lot into a surprisingly small spce, including a lot of elevation change and challenging holes -- and a chance at any of several prizes at the end. Be warned that it's cash-only; no credit cards are accepted.

I did not go to the golf, but the arcade was awesome! The prices for prizes were cheap compared to other places. The best arcade for prizes on this island!

Super unique and fun course. The staff clearly take pride in the place. Lots of ?low hanging fruit? hole-in-ones which is a great confidence builder for the kids. The arcade still operates on tokens and tickets, which I love. No soulless plastic arcade cards.

5 stars plus. They go all out for the weekly Wednesday tournament. Golf course is always great and fun to play. We go several times a week. Wednesday tournament day is FUN FUN FUN. Raffles and prizes.

This was a fun little spot to come and play mini golf. Friendly staff.

My 3 grandchildren, from TN, visited me in NJ and we went to Hartland Golf. They were fierce competitors on the course and had an awesome time in the arcade while collecting tickets and prizes. The owner, Mr. Dave, is an amazing man who obviously cares about children and recognizes them with a sense of respect and a sense of humor. They had so much fun that we went a second time! The course is beautifully maintained and so much fun!

Wonderful location, challenging 18 hole course, quaint arcade full of classic machines and a kind and intuitive staff that is great with kids!

Great place for miniature golf and some arcade games. Only complaint is only one pinball machine and the majority of the rest are redemption machines, but still much better than the arcade down the road at Fantasy Island. (which Fantasy Island has no pinball and the non-redemption machines present there can be counted with one hand despite being a much bigger venue!)

Been coming here every summer, and the people working over at the arcade are super friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to! Great selection of games (Fast & Furious SuperCars is my favorite) and a great selection of prizes.

Fun little golf spot with a neat Arcade & friendly staff. Much better than the Sandtrap which was closed by 7pm. Love the prize wheel at the end.

My wife and I took our 3yr old son Mini Golfing here for his first outing! We couldn't have been happier with the amazing staff on the course and in the arcade. We would highly recommend anyone with a small child learning the ways of mini golf to give Hartland a look. You will not be disappointed

Went here to cap off our boys 2nd birthday weekend. The staff was beyond amazing and our kids had so much fun. The mini golf was beautiful and the landscaping was perfect. The arcade had a great selection of games. I would highly recommend this for everyone to visit.

Went for the first time this weekend with my family. One person working and he was great! Very helpful, friendly and welcoming.

Hartland is a challenging but fun course. If you can figure out the breaks on some holes, hole-in-one opportunities are abundant. The ball launcher hole is really cool. The management here is phenomenal, and they're always playing good music for the guests. Always a great experience at Hartland!

I had so much fun at this place. It is cash only so be prepared for that. The holes are different skill sets, but nothing super dramatic. I like the layout of the place, you aren't standing in other people's games when it gets crowded. Lots of parking too.

Fairways are in great condition, less valleys and more straight than other courses on the island. Greens runs quick and you have to be strong on your mechanics. A few hidden water hazards, but this course can produce several birdies over 18 holes. Dining at the clubhouse has good options and arcade games.

It was my sons birthday while we're vacationing in LBI this week. Heartland Golf and Arcade treated my son like a king because it was his birthday. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and kind. We will definitely be back every year.

Been going to Hartland for 20+ years! Great family atmosphere. Very competitive course. Owner and staff are always very friendly! Best golf on the island!

This is Luke. I'm on my moms phone. I went to the arcade to play a few games but if you don't get jackpots you only get a few tickets. All of the prizes are like hundreds of tickets and they're only little things. I suggest to not go in the arcade unless you are rich. The miniature golf was fun though. The golf would get 4.5 stars. Remember though ... the arcade was garbage!

Great place to bring the family. Fun and friendly

Staff was attentive and my girlfriend and I had a blast! There was lots of variety between holes and a fun challenge. Well definitely be back.

The staff are awesome, and the course is well kept and pretty. Arcade is also well kept and relatively affordable.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST PLACE ON THE ISLAND!!!!!!!! the owners went above and beyond for us and stayed late so the kids could finish playing in the arcade!! Will for sure be back next time we are here! Thank you both for such a great a night from us and the especially the birthday boy!

Convenient shore fun for the kiddos. 7/2023: Another great time for the kids. They played mini-golf and really enjoyed it. The arcade is always a hit.

Great mini golf course, smaller arcade, but what sets this place apart is first-rate staff who go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. Highly recommended for families with young children!

Slightly overpriced but still the best course on the south side of the island. Every hole is fun and you have a pretty good shot to win a free game or arcade tokens at the end. Great time for everybody

This course is nicely tended (as of the summer of 2018) with new greens and holes that are challenging and fun. Perhaps a few too many hole-in-one holes if that makes sense. Prizes are mostly to get free arcade games but that's fun too.

Smaller but very enjoyable mini golf and arcade. Staff was exceptionally friendly and made the visit extra special. Mini golf and arcade and some food and drinks. Tricky to get into parking lot depending on where you are coming from.

This is by far the best Mini golf course on the island. Holes are very fun and every hole has its challenges. The best part is the 19th hole where you can win amazing prizes.

Enjoying a night mini golfing with my friends when on the 16th hole, an employee approach our group and told us that one of my friends was playing like a "jackass" and that we were making the people behind us wait. Honestly yes there were 5 people in our group but there were lots of groups that had more than 4 which is their rule. We were minigolfing in a timely manner and it was utterly shocking the disrespect that this employee showed us. My friends and I have often gone here, but never again.

Great course! Staff is super nice as well. Great for casual players who wanna have a good time.

This was an AMAZING golf course. This is one of my all time favorites! I definitely reccomend this course. The course was also very clean and put together. There were no leaves on the green, which is rare.

Great course. Some holes are tough, but it is a well maintained course.

Fun location. The Mini Golf is fun and pretty well laid out. I have seen better putt-putt courses but this one is definitely worth your time.

Fun miniature golf course and arcade with actual games and not full of cranes like most other arcades on LBI. They are often busy which shows how fun they are but can be a pain at times.

Best mini golf course on LBI, plus an arcade!

It is very nice and clean. It is super busy and we had to wait for others. It was lots of fun and we won a free pretzel and tokens.

It's a great mini golf course, but they need to add numbers on the holes.

The arcade is very small and the coupon redemption prices pretty high. The mini golf greens were in great shape.

Great 18 holes of mini golf! Arcade is small but the course is fun, and you can win prizes on the last hole!

Cute mini golf course. Not crowded. My husband and I each got holes in one. They were decorating for Halloween.

Nice little course, not the nicest on the island but if you like mini golf it's worth a visit.

Very nice course. We had fun playing there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time playing there.

Dave made sure we had the best time on the course today. Some friends are in from out of town and this just made our trip

All good holes, except the mechanical hole probably needs maintenance. The arcade inside is a good place to chill after a game. Recommend??

Cute place and fun golfing. Well priced. Staff was really friendly even though they were really busy

One of my two favorite mini-golf places on LBI.

The best mini golf on the long beach island. Very challenging with so many unique holes . Highly recommend!!

The people who work there are super nice and the course is always clean and we'll maintained (and the 11th hope never gets any easier)

Great little mini golf course, nice arcade and super nice staff! Always love going to Heartland!

We loved it!! The owner was so nice and the golf course and games are fun.

Best mini golf course I've been to in years. So much fun and the owners are so welcoming

The kids had alot of fun, and things were well run, clean, and the course was a great size.

This place is always amazing! Whether you are an adult or a child you are guaranteed to have a fun time!!

Another LBI icon, the best minature golf course in the world I must say and the end is the best part where you have a great chance to win something.

Great place to play miniature golf on LBI.

Great course and fair prices. The parking lot is small and on a one way street near a light, making it difficult at times.

Fun place to play mini golf. Grounds are well kept and the flow is good.

The arcade was lots of fun. The ski ball is an oldie but goodie

Great mini golf course. Family had a great time. Not too hard, not too easy.

Lots of fun, plenty of hole in one chances, makeable final free game hole, all around great

Really fun and creative miniature golf course! A good challenge and fun throughout!

A lot of creativity and thought went into designing these holes - very well designed and a lot of fun!

Awesome course. Nicely kept. Great final hole. Lots of opportunities for holes in 1!

Great family fun atmosphere for a nice game of mini golf in the summer.

Great service and fun arcade. Mini golf is very well maintained

No A/C ...very uncomfortable in 90+ degree weather ! Wont accept credit card!

It was crowded, but we didn't have to do a lot of waiting. Kids had a blast.

Golf is good, ATM inside is a scam machine with forced hidden fees.

Really fun minigolf course! Lots of excitement with gizmos and tricks!

Nice course. Fun holes with a few cool gadgets. Friendly staff.

Super fun!! Lucky Wheel to win food, drink, free games, ect.

Course is fun and they always have upbeat music on.

Very challenging and fun! Also cheaper than other places.

Such kind workers!! Made it the best day ever for me and my daughter

Many miniature golf places in lbi they are all fun

I freaking won and got a free soda so go for it. You won't be as good as me, but you can try.

I lost to my wife and another friend, otherwise it was great!

Great mini golf spot for families or a date!

nobody can defeat me in the mini golim basically tiger woods

Love this place because of the mini arcade at the end.

didn't golf but the arcade was lame

Lots of fun, family friendly, great owner

Friendly place and great service. They cater to kids!

Great fun course. Get coupons!

When you need a break from the beach, this place is perfect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
