Hammerhead Hops & Grill

Hammerhead Hops & Grill

Reviews Summary

Overall, reviews are mixed but lean positive, with many praising the fun atmosphere, good food (especially wings, burgers, and drinks), and friendly staff. Bowling facilities are often highlighted as modern and enjoyable. However, some criticize slow service, inconsistent food quality (like salty or misflavored dishes), and occasional poor experiences with wait times or unaccommodating staff. The bar is popular, though some find it overcrowded or overpriced. While most would return, a few had severe issues with service delays or incorrect orders. Cleanliness and family-friendly vibes are noted as strengths.

Customer Reviews

Had the hot n honey wings. They were great. The 3 homemade pierogis saut?ed in butter and onions was very good. Nice selection of beer.

Drinks A little pricey $12.50 for a martini. But great drinks! Loved the self pour drink bar wall. Friendly servers. Nice , modern and clean.

Food was really good! Had incredible chicken fingers and the fries were fresh cut. Free popcorn for patrons of the bar. Had a mixed drink. The staff were nice. Me and my family went on a not so busy Thursday at 5-6pm and it wasn't crowded at all, food came out in decent time, and was good quality. Prices weren't outlandish. Overall I'll be visiting again soon!

I had an exceptional experience bowling ?? here & dining here! I wasn't really sure what to expect going in... but, I paid close to $50 for an hour long bowling session. The technology available for bowling participants will make an impression and is sure to generate a few comical jokes and memorable laughter! The alley is equipped with top-of-the-line laser lights, speakers (not sure if you can request music) , bar tables, and nice relaxing seating for players! The bar is really state-of-the-art and is eve

Been here only 3x and never had a bad experience. It's super clean even the bathroom and the staff are nice and patient. Some cool and creative things to do with the screen! Never had the food yet so will update eventually.

If I could give the food and service a zero, I would! This was hands down the worst "dining" experience I've ever had. We waited 45 minutes for the first order to come out. And they came out one at a time every 10 to 15 minutes. 3 of our 6 orders were wrong. And it was 1 hour and 45 minutes before the last order of fries came out. They were cold and sitting in a literal pool of oil. To make the terrible food worse, the staff was unphased and unapologetic about the wait. When we received our bill, it was jus

Ordered loaded fries paid for them and never got them ?? great place good drinks but the tenders didn't really seem to get to everyone when I asked about it they just said they closed down the fryers

Great food, awesome drinks amazing staff and the coolest bowling alley around. Id give 10 stars if i could.

Great staff at the bar

Part of the Hampton Lanes Bowling, you can expect good, genuine pub food. We went for the bowling and fully expected the typical bowling alley food offerings (which I always felt is comparable to that of a food truck), so fresh, real beef pub burgers, craft beers, homemade pierogies, and boardwalk style French fries was definitely a treat! We were waited on quickly and the prices are fair. Hammerhead and the bowling alley are clean, well maintained and the staff friendly.

I didn't have food this time, but elk the next time I go. The bowling alley is the cleanest I've been in.

I can say this is one of the cleanest bowling alleys I've been at. Service is great as well. Reserved a lane, and shoes were already at our lane, and the game was prepped for it. I've never seen that before! Would definitely go back. Can't really rate the food properly for myself, but I can tell you my 6 year old ate all her Mac n cheese, which doesn't really happen as much.

Great experience for my daughter's birthday party. Our hostess was on point and very attentive to our needs. Most of the food was very good...except the pizza. It was undercooked even though we requested well done. Other than that, the service was great, and atmosphere was energetic. Everyone had a great time.

There is only like 2 bars in Northampton. This is my favorite of the two. Bowling alley bar/ dive bar vibe. Cheap drinks, familiar crowd, usual loud vibe. Pool tables are always a plus. Always have had a good time here.

Like the arcade. Great Bowling Lanes. Great food and drinks. Enjoy yourself.

Fantastic experience, the upgrades are outstanding, the game room was a lot of fun too, the wings were very good, the drinks reasonable.

If I could rate no stars I would! I will never go there again! We had to get our own menu & waited over 20 minutes before a server came over to our table. Me and my son waited over 2 hours for a cheeseburger and bacon ranch quesadilla that never came! Supposedly the server put our order multiple times but the cook didn't make it. Our friends friends got there food 1 & 1/4 hours after they ordered it and my husband got his 1 &1/2 hours after he ordered his. And on top of the ridiculous long wait, all of th

It was great. We were there from 8pm and had a great time. I didn't like the drink I ordered. Sex on the beach , it wasn't good but then was recommended a tito's drink. It was soo good. I also really loved the green tea shot. We ordered Jack Daniel's and sweet and sweaty wings. It was delicious ??. Unfortunately the fries I had were disgusting. I had a hard time trying to eat it. All in all we had a great time and a great experience. I would recommend to a friend and will definitely be back. Thank you

This is one of my favorite places to go for social outings:) the bowling part of it is very fair priced and very clean and the bar staff are just awesome people and really take pride in what they do :) and to top it off every Friday night starting at 10pm Josh from glory hogs runs a beer pong league that is extremely popular and the DJ does his thing.. Friday nights here are most definitely the place to be for a great time with great people..

Service is extremely slow. Also, make sure that you ask for an itemized bill. They'll charge you for food that you ordered but never got delivered to you to your table/lane. Make you wait forever to order your food while the time in your lane is being consumed up without you being able to enjoy it because of the long wait for the food. It's such a shame that bowling alleys are dying out in our area, and the few we have left have terrible customer service.

Come on guys, had high expectations for the food. Is Tuesday a bad day to eat there? $10 burgers you can throw a few fries on the plate. Pierogi fries, burgers, french fries get a thumbs down for me sorry. The kids did have a fun time playing in the game room we will be back to go bowling

Solid place for drinks, food and some fun

Nice bowling alley and bar but it took about 1 hour and 20 minutes for the food to come out. The Jack Daniels burger tasted good.

Awesome place. They did an amazing job when they renovated. Bar is big, plenty of lanes, arcades, family friendly, and nice and clean.

May be a bowling alley, but the food is terriffic. Chicken/steak cheese steak and the chicken bacon quesadillas were both outstanding. Service was great.

The lounge is attached to the bowling lanes so you can work up an appetite and then sit in the lounge to a surprising variety of microbrews or familiar standards on draft. The food is better than what you normally get in a bowling lounge and the staff is friendly. It's got a great neighborhood bar feel complete with pool table....!

Great local place. Bar was very busy but server was very attentive.

A friend and myself decided to go here. We have never been here before. We showed up me, (Caucasian) dressed in a long sleeve shirt and jeans. Him (non- Caucasian) dressed in a Harry Potter hoodie (with the hood up) and jeans. We sat, were greeted promptly and ordered. Drinks came out right away. My food came out quickly (chicken quesadilla), his ( cheese burger) came out 17 minutes after mine. We sat ate and each had 2 drinks. We were there about 2 hours. At almost the 2 hour mark, another

We went to partake in bowling.. didn't finish 1 game and so called league complained about the kids being there bowling and wanted us moved to another lane.we were told to move to opposite side but we left instead...what bowling place isn't kid friendly? It's a public place...kids will be there bowling and having fun! Maybe the other people shouldn't go when it's open bowling!

Bowling lanes were fun...loved the child bumper bowling. Ordered food and 2 hrs later no food. Apparently delivered to someone else. Waitress could not remember who or where delivered to in building?

High tech, fun place. Food is good, better if when we all order in our party, we could get our food together and sometimes one plate is cold, if that was corrected 5 stars would b given for food

So glad to see them open and thriving. Good beer selection. Little IPA and Seltzer heavy but that's the trend. Overall a great place to enjoy a night out.

Did the games there, but 2 and a half hour wait for a game

Hope the timing of this review suits the owner better than the last one. I agree standing behind your staff to uphold the law is important. I did indeed speak with my friends and they still agree with me. The service was sub-par. The food was good but I still felt that I was disrespected.

I've been going to this "bar" for a while. Every time I'm there, I see the owner drunk on the clock and an employee that tends to just sit at the bar and take multiple shots. It seems like this employee cares more about having a good time rather than doing their job, same goes for the owner. I've also gotten uncooked chicken and the tortillas are not crisp but rather soggy. I highly recommend avoiding this place. Even though the Gin Mill in Northampton has some outragious rules, I still find it more comfor

I haven't been here since they burnt down police is freaking amazing people are amazing the waitress is amazing this place is unbelievable best in Lehigh valley

This is the place we go on Fridays after all the other good bars close. Same trashy people there every week. DJ is a cool guy but he desperately needs to update his playlists. Only thing good there is shuffle board. I'll go about 2-3 times a year. During the day it's a normal restaurant/bar that's usually empty and used for bowling party's.

Great place to take the kids or watch a game

I had a Jack Daniel's burger and fries. 5 stars. I also had beef tacos.

Went for football. Ordered boneless wings (Jack Daniels), deep fried pickles, and nachos. I'm not sure which was the worst thing. The wings tasted like ketchup, not sure how they can even be called Jack Daniels flavored. The pickles were spicy for some reason, I've never been anywhere that were spicy. And the beef in the nachos was crazy salty, like seasoned salt, not at all the flavor you're looking for in nachos.

well for starters, kaitlin is the best bartender I have ever had. she is on point with drinks, food, which is awesome, etc. there's also free poker, its called quad 5 poker, every monday night that starts at 7:30. it's so much fun and, even better, its FREE poker! I would suggest checking this place out, I guarantee you will not be disappointed so check it out. especially free quad 5 poker!!!!!

It's alright. I haven't bowled there, but it's a halfway decent bowling alley bar. Decent selection of beer on tap and nice bar game selection with pool, shuffleboard, and Foosball.

Very nice atmosphere. Great service always. Food is pub fare, and is very good. Salads are good and fresh as well. No complaints here!

Wonderful update from the old building. Great place to take the kids. Lots of games and high tech bowling with themes and lights.

I have not been there in long time I like the new look of the place staff was very nice and helpful fast service

The food & service r good. It makes for a fun time out, bowling & having a meal. U can even watch everyone bowling from the lounge. Would recommend it!!

Upgrades are fantastic, and the wall of beer is pretty cool, too! Wish I took a photo but I was having too much fun - next time!

Decent bar food and prices. Service was acceptable. I would go back but probably wouldn't go out of my way to stop there.

We had a great time bowling! They have a very clean and friendly place. It's a little expensive, but they have a hold a great family environment.

Great for any size crowd and all ages. A well rounded mix of people. Live bands. Located just inside the bowling center. Lots of parking.

Was the most unfriendly bartender. As a bartender myself I expect my servicer to be a little friendly and not toss money, food at customers

The hammerhead lounge is a decent bar, its attached to a bowling alley, the bar itself has some events,on 11/29/19 a beer pong tournament was held and a few of my friends were part of it, the DJ was good and the drinks served were pretty nice alcohol wise, all in all decent establishment, the food was actually pretty good American cheese burger was 7 out of 10

Great local bar. Only rating 4 stars due to the insane amount of cigarette smoke inside. Bar is quick and efficient and friendly.

Great Atmosphere, service place to relax and have fun and eat all in one. Great Job to the owner ????

Top notch beer selection, was here for the bowling. There is a wait for a reason. EVERYTHING is brand new

Great place. Food was good and the bartender was extremely friendly.

Good wings, fair prices. Wednesdays are half price wings , so I'm told(I was there Thursday).

The people here are always so nice, the drinks are cheap and the Pong on Fridays is awesome!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
