Haven't been there in over 25 years but took my daughter and friends this weekend for the lesson and open skate and that had so much fun. Everyone working there was super friendly, the place has been remodeled and looks great. Kid wants to go back this week, and every week, so looks like I'll be spending a lot of time there
Attended a Disney themed event. This was perfect for a family outing with young and pre-teen children. They have an arcade area and reward counter.
Great Skate is so much fun! Love the themed skate nights, and of course adult night! (Happy they always bring the classic electro and break beat skate jams) And the themed character and kid friendly events are such a great idea. Now that I have kids it's so cool they have characters such as Trolls and Bluey. The new floor is awesome!! Definitely recommend signing up for email updates. The skate sessions are changing weekly. Glad Great Skate is around and hope they're around for generations to enjoy. Suc
We went to adult skate tonight and had an absolute blast! Matthew, the DJ/host, does not get paid enough. Simple as that. He has a great attitude, he was having a lot of fun out there on the rink, and he was extremely helpful to those who need it. He is one of the reasons I will happily go back. (It would be even better if all the arcade games were in working order though)
I had an amazing time at the all you can eat cheese pizza skate session. The DJ Matthew did an amazing job with the music and making sure everyone was safe and weren't hurt. Also the people at the cafe did a wonderful job, I was helped by Anthony, he gave me my pizza and was pretty nice. 10/10 service all around, will come back again!
Amazing!! Emily made sure everyone had their wrist guards on and was a great host for the games section!! Super clean and great floor for skating!
Went today for a Sonic skate that was 10am-12pm. Event was advertised on their website with a picture of sonic, and said they'd be playing songs from the soundtrack. Upon clicking on it, it said ?Disney and sonic music.? Disney has nothing to do with sonic as far as I know, but assumed this meant that they'd throw in a FEW Disney songs here and there since it's PG and well known songs, to play for the people who tag along with Sonic fans who may not know much Sonic music? they played Disney songs THE ENTIRE
Mathew always gives us a great DJ experience for the family. Always let's my kid help during 4 corners. It's always a Great Skate experience.
Had a great time for a birthday party! Party host, Nayah, was fantastic and took care of everything!
Took my family here for something fun to do and we ended up going on Disney hits skate session and met this wonderful young lady named Emily. She is amazing her knowledge of skating and focus on the kids is absolutely incredible. She did 4 corners with them and made sure that every kid felt special. I will definitely be bringing my family back for more skating.
Avery was very welcoming and had a positive attitude.he offered me and my friend snow cones and helped us with our skates
Went skating with a group of friends and have to say it was a great time!! The DJ/host Mathew made the evening! Not only was he super personable but he was on top of the rink and everyone in it - honestly impressive. My only issue this evening was that the arcade games were mostly out of order.
Avery was so magnificent. his overwhelming kindness and humble personality made me want to buy every single snow cone, the man needs a raise. none of what i say is an exaggeration and should be taken seriously in open arms. i?ve never met any employee with this astounding of a work ethic.
It's always a good time when DJ Emily is there for the night! She plays great music, skates around and offers tips to new skaters, and is very quick to respond if somebody falls or has any questions! My friends and I all love coming here every week!
I love coming here and it's always a fun time when DJ Emily is there. She's the best at curating a good experience through good music, skater safety, and rink cleanliness.
Avery was benevolent and had awesome customer service. His care and expertise with snow cones made me want to buy more. I 100% would've bought more but alas I only have two hands. Genuinely great guy so much aura. ??
We love skating here! My family all got skates for Christmas, and we've already been twice this year. The sessions are long with a decent variety of music. The staff is very kind and attentive. On our first trip, my daughter's skate had an issue and they were happy to assist us. On our second visit, Tori was awesome, quickly assisting the line and keeping the floor safe with a smile. Mario was also super kind and checked in on my daughter after a fall. We always have a good time here and will be coming back
The food is great the workers are great especially Tori , Nyah and this young man Avery all my questions and concerns they were able to help me answer every question. 10 out of 10. The birthdays there are awesome and even the characters they have
Our party was easy to plan and ran smoothly. Ethan was an amazing host and helped far beyond what I had expected. He was kind and responsive and made everything a success.
Great Skates has an amazing atmosphere! Avery served me my dollar snow cone and his aura is literally breathtaking, like he also saved my dog from choking back in 2002 and donated a million dollars to charity. What a nice and considerate dude. Would die for him.
TERRIBLE place for a field trip. Staff acted like they didn't want to work and a lady was SUPER RUDE to our students. She was yelling and kicking them out of the rink if they stayed on the wall too long. Mind you our students cannot skate so they were on the wall to catch their balance. They served undercooked chicken and had mold in their ice machine. There was something black on the ice cube in the drinks. They also reused our left over pizza to warm up and give to the next school after us to eat. Disgust
Had a great time at the Tuesday half price night. Nayah at the window was super sweet and patient. The DJ Matthew was very helpful and personal and made the whole skating thing enjoyable ?????? would recommend
Matthew is our favorite DJ. Very personable and helpful as well. Thanks for always bringing the party, Matthew! Jasmine is also great along with Anna, Gael, Gabe, and the manager Amanda was very nice too!
We had an amazing time at Great Skate in Glendale. Mathew the Dj was amazing!! Melvin was awesome as well. Pizza was good. We definitely loved the Troll theme.
Me and my derby team came to great state for pride skate and Emily was definitely the best employee on the track! thank you so much Emily for keeping us safe!!!!!
Great birthday experience! Safe, clean and fun. Lina is exceptional. The rest of the staff is great as well. Wicked birthday parties and good food. BBQ wings were fire
I took a group of students to Great Skate on a Friday night. They were very busy but didn't get our food and drinks until after 8pm when the session ends at 9pm. I've been a few time for work and this was the worst service I've experienced. Very disappointed since we go here often.
We were a little behind schedule in showing up so I was hoping to get every minute of the skate time up till 8:30pm. We walked up to the skate rental counter and there was nobody there and nobody coming to help. I eventually had to get someone from the office to give me skates, wasting some time that I'd paid for. He gave us some skates and took off again. We had to find him a second time to get a different size of skates. Then, they played the last song and kicked everyone off the rink 14 minutes early at
We had birthday party this weekend at great skate and Tori was our host and she made it the best experience ever! She was so attentive and made sure we were taken great care of the entire time we were there. Thank you so much Tori!!
Dude! Last time I was here I was a preteen on a church youth group trip. It's still as much fun as I remember although I'm older now lol. So, the fear of falling was much greater lol! Music done by a DJ, pizza and other food and lots of fun. They don't sell alcohol but do you really want a bunch of people roller skating while impaired? Lol, it would be funny to watch but not safe. They also have a lot of events scheduled for families as well as for adults. I would strongly suggest logging onto their websit
Great Skate is one of my favorite places to have fun and unwind. There's one manager in particular, Carlos, who always makes the experience better. Just a genuinely kind person who clearly cares about the place and the people who come through. Always appreciate the good energy here. Thank you Carlos, you're a gem!
I went on one of there friday 5 dollar deal nights and honestly let me tell you it was a waste of 21.84 ive ever spent in my life . I could have honestly set up a date for me and my girl downtown at Zoni Girls . Half the night there was this employee on the rink throwing people off to play games that limited the number of people on the rink . Mind you the time was from 6:30pm - 9:00pm . They played games for 1 whole hour. Limiting the time for the costumers who paid to skate . He also then began to tell peo
I will start by saying Sean and Ms Barbie and her sweet daughter are phenomenal teachers and we have learned quite a bit in the 5 months we have been attending Saturday classes with our 2 small children. Today was our last time visiting great skate. I'm deeply saddened that my five-year-old daughter was removed from her skate lessons simply because she couldn't express that she didn't understand a new skill. At such a young age, communication can be difficult?sometimes all she can do is shrug her shoulders
????? I was pleasantly surprised by how great Great Skate Roller Rink is! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the staff?especially the security?were super nice and friendly. The music was on point, keeping the energy high, and there were plenty of fun games to keep everyone entertained. The kids had an absolute blast, and we'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for a fun family outing!
I had a lot of fun with my friends at great skate and Gael was very helpful giving us our skates and helping in cafe. He was very polite and was very friendly. He offered help on skating and his advice was very helpful.
WOW! I love this place. Excellent customer service. Friendly staff. Good food. Good music. Reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place for a fun night out with friends and or family.
Tori did a great job taking care of us!
Had my daughter's 13th birthday party here. The staff was very polite and attentive. It wasn't too crowded. Food was good. The kids had an amazing time.
I went with some friends for an 18+ night on a Sunday night. We had such a great time! I hadn't been in 15 yrs and not much has changed. It was nostalgic and fun. Its well kept and I definitely want to keep coming back! It was a great place to people watch. So many talented skaters to see. Make sure to bring some cash or quarters for the lockers!
We came here for a school field trip and STEM lesson on motion. Great Skate was clean and had options for both skates and blade rental. Sarah was a wonderful and engaging STEM teacher. Tori and Miranda managed the facility beautifully and were extremely helpful and friendly. The class had a great time and said this was the best field trip yet.
Brought my daughter to Great Skate to celebrate her birthday hosted by Nayah. She greeted us soon as we came in and was very attentive to our needs. She made sure we had all our drinks full and asked if we needed anything during our time. We didn't know Great Skate provided the decorations for the tables which helped out tremendously. Props to Nayah thank you for the experience and awesome customer service.
This place has been around since I was a kid. They do make sure the kids are safe and they have a lot for the kids to keep busy. The kids love the loud music and skating is fun when you're with your friends. The birthday party was a success. I didn't have to clean my house or decorate and the kids were entertaining the entire time.
Have been to Great Skate 3 years now for our end of year school party. Always a great time. A BIG thanks to Miranda, Tori, Mike and Em, Carlos, Jasmyn, Irene, Ethan, Ash, and Apollo.
Came here on a Wednesday night for a school fundraiser that is supposed to run from 5-8:30. One person working at the entrance causing long lines and wait times to enter. Price of admission is the same regardless of if you are skating or not. Entry fee was supposed to include skate rental and a glow stick and unlimited cheese pizza until 8:30. The parent who sits to watch their children pays the same price as the child who is getting skates and skating. But you know, it's a fundraiser for the school so we
I recently booked a field trip for my 3rd - 5th graders at Great Skate in Glendale. The booking process was easy and Cheryl responded very quickly whenever we had a question regarding our trip. My students enjoyed our STEM lesson regarding motion and skate design. (You may choose from a list of 10 STEM lessons) Our instructor was wonderful and made the lesson fun and applicable to real-life. After our lesson, we enjoyed skating to popular music and enjoyed a pizza lunch. The skating 'helpers' were ava
I came for the Saturday glow session and the dj Matthew was great, really funny guy and played good music ????
well, ive known and visited this place for years, its just NOT THE SAME the mandatory wrist thingy, and you cannot bring in tobacco products, despite being an adult and knowing you don't smoke inside buildings, wth...taking peoples personal property. I get it, their rules, so i just wont visit anymore. ADULT SKATERs should go elsewhere.
I visited great skate today and had a real good time. Avery and Gabe were really helpful and made the experience much more enjoyable. Definitely recommend!
The location outside looks sketchy and doesn't look like a safe place inside it's small congested not well organized most of the arcade games are old and don't work. Food is way too expensive for the quality.
I went to great skate today and had an amazing time! Avery, Tori, Mario, and Lina were very helpful today! I will definitely be coming back!
Went here last week for a school field trip to help as chaperone and all the kids had a blast! I dont roller skate I never learned how but just being and looking at how everyone was having such a fun time made me want to learn!! The staff was nice and looking out for the kids as well. The food was as expected you know for a place like this! I was surprised that they had skates for this many kids! Definitely coming back with the family! We just went back today for our daughter's birthday party! We had such
I would highly recommend Great Skate for anyone looking for a fun and active birthday party. Victoria was super sweet with not only the birthday girl but all of the kids in the party. We had the best time due to the kindness of the staff and how well everything was run.
Had a firme ass night at great skate with the family My kids were struggling with the games at first but this young fool Avery helped us throughout the night, and answered any questions we had. That music had me feeling 20 years younger lol Had lots of fun, will come back!
Matthew was a huge help. We gathered here for a school event, kids falling left and right, Matthew was there to help them up every time. Couldn't ask for better help. He was amazing
I have taken my children several times for school events. My kids love coming every time their school has an even here. They get to skate with friends and have fun. The only thing I would say needs improvement would be the food. Overall though it is very fun.
Nice floor. Hopefully we showed up on a night thats no normal for this rink. I needed to tighten my skates (Arius plate). Skate rental attendant said they don't sell skate tools and they don't allow customers to borrow their tools. The manager allowed use of their tools after I explained to him that we flew in for a skate party. Wrist guards are mandatory Staff enjoys conversation amongst themselves
LOVE THIS RINK, 5 STAR PLEASE OPEN BACK UP I MISS YOU GREAT SKATE?????????????? (admire its beauty with my pictures)
I'm giving 5 stars the employee Mario he really helped me in the window and was patient with me while filling out my waiver and breaking down my transaction also to Melvin and Gael they brought a smile to my face with their amazing jokes and were amazing workers but unfortunately the dj didn't play good music It was family hip hop but dj spice didn't play it I've had a great time a few weeks ago when he wasn't dj and the dj was a regular employee and played way more enjoyable music and with this session the
The place was fun. Employees look like they hate their job. Food and drinks are expensive. 6 wings was $9.50 they were cold n tasted old. They were kept in a warmer, a vitamin water was $4. I do love how they have the option of skate or Rollerblade. Overall we made the best of it and had a good time. I do not recommend the food though.
Matthew did a great job in the rink and was very interactive with the guests! He truly does has a great announcer voice when in charge in the rink haha
This was awesome and Emily was the dj and skater. She was great and helpful.. will come there all the time with my kids if she is there!
Was a great place to host a party, kids had a lot of fun, the cotton candy towers were awesome, will definitely come back for future parties
Matt played a Superior mix of music types, tempos and energy as DJ. Busy session but also covered floor very well as only floor guard.
Best out of all three staring rinks in Phoenix area. Not as strict with allowing to skate backwards, better music - for adult skaters. Great hardwood floors. A little smaller compared to Meza, but not too small. Will certainly be back.
Had such a blast! Would def come here again! Avery was so nice to help take our trash and take our picture! 10/10
This place is just so confusing. Such a quality floor with so much potential. Best floor in the valley, BUT the music is just so terrible all the time. Even when it's Emo night you can just tell that the people who play the songs have never listened to the music. It would just be cool for them to mix it up sometimes and play some classic skate jams. Food is a bit pricey for the low quality. The staff is way nice for the most part but I do feel like some of them don't really care to be there or of service. I
It is sad that this is the only game in town (well at least the West valley) and the facilities are so bad. The tables are old and worn. The carpet is dingy, stained, and gum laden. Also, the owners chose the carpet squares which makes it really hard to roll over especially if you are new to skating. Many of the arcade games are out of order, about a quarter of the game do not work (note picture). The worst I'd the floor. I visited Great Skate for the first time in 2017 and I thought the floor was rough. Fa
We chose Great Skate for our daughters 9th birthday over the weekend, we're so glad we did! Our party Host Trinity was awesome, she was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of! Our birthday girl felt very special and there were lots of extras added to give her that VIP treatment! Our guests loved the pizza, wings & nacho platters! What a fun night, even the adults made memories none of us will forget! Thank you Great Skate Glendale for such an amazing time!!! ??
We went on a Sunday night adult night. Besides the awful music, it was over crowded, the one rink guard I saw was in the DJ booth. There was a group of 8 people stopping and chatting in the middle of the rink, there was a woman with this obnoxious fan that she kept slapping so it sounded like somebody was falling on their skates every minute or so, there was no order at all on the floor. I saw some woman on her phone using TicTok the whole time not paying attention to anything around her, she took out a few
I drive uber, and I drove Lina home around 2am Saturday morning. I was telling her I havnt been to Great Skate since the 90s. She encouraged me and my wife to come and told us all about the adult nights and the lessons they do. She gave me a new date night for my wife and myself. Thank you Lina
It's been 8 years since I last skated and Matthew did an amazing job making sure I was all good and amazing tips to help improve my skating!
Today we celebrated our sons birthday at great skate and we where so pleased with how it turned out! Our host trinity was amazing ?? she went above and beyond to make sure we where happy and had everything necessary. All our guest had so much fun and they really made it special for our son he had a lot of vip opportunities like going to the dj booth spinning the wheel for tokens a special cup and many extra goodies. Definitely a great place to go for family fun or to book a party and they made everything s
Visited this place for the first time after 20 some years away. It's really not all that fun anymore with how they nickel and dime you on everything. I wear a cross over bag with my personal belongings and snacks for the kids. Well you are not allowed to have the cross over bag on the skating floor and they want you to rent a locker for $5 or $7 depending on the size. If it was such a hazard for me to have my bag on the skating floor then have lockers available for FREE to put our belongings in a safe place
Matt is a heck of a DJ, love his style ?? don't forget to subscribe. The mini jar and Kel adventures
When me and my family went for the first time the worker avery really made it nice and at home for us even though it was me and my family?s first time thanks you avery great service
Melvin and Gabe were amazing tonight! Helped me with all my problems. Amazing music and food.
Mathew was the best he was very energetic the vibe was amazing and helped my kid when he fell over 10/10 will be coming back
The kids had fun, specially my 14 year old. The place is worn though, and it stinks like feet bad. The arcade games were really worn also and half of them were broken. If you plan on coming in bring your own skates and wrist guards if possible. They do have promotions once in a while so look out for those. I found "kids skate free" on FB events.
Had a wonderful experience for my daughter?s birthday party. Our host was amazing!
Matthew was the best dj and person ever!! Thank you so much Matthew for making my private party amazing !!!
Always a fun time and good music! The staff is great especially Avery!!! Thank you Avery for all of your help!
It was good and it is a really great place to go if you want some fun and learn how to or skate
This worker is so cool! He did so much for us and helped us with a ton of services. Thank you Mario!
Ha! Great Skate? more like CHEAP SKATES I wish I could rate 0 stars. I don't even have time to write about all the issues that occurred but I will talk about a few. My bf and I went on 12/30/24 and 12/31/24 and I've never had worse experiences at a roller rink. I thought maybe it was just the day so we decided to give them another try and even worse management of the rink floor. We paid for 3 hours of skating and only got a total of an hour to an 1.5hrs of skating in due to a number of issues with manageme
Great place. The kids had fun. Pros: - friendly staff - reasonably priced food & snacks - adequately sized sitting area Cons: - they ran out of balancing bars for learner skaters - the food & drink options are limited - some of the plastic tables and benches were unstable & flimsy and caused the kids to fall
Avery was very helpful with assisting our family with snocones. He was patient and very friendly.
Great place at great skate Matthew was a great host Matthew even did a shoutout to my son for his 18thbirthday thanks again Matthew you are a great part of great skate even the music he was DJ as well.
I had a party there for my daughter and the pizza was not good and I only had 6 kids show up and still got charged for ten kids and if you are thinking about throwing a party here DONT. You should have to pay for children that didn't show up. They were unorganized as far as looking at waivers it should have been looked at at the door and their customer service was stunk. I don't suggest anyone throw a party there.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
