GAME OVER

GAME OVER

Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise the arcade's extensive game selection, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff, with many highlighting delicious food and good value. However, some criticize inconsistent service, long wait times, broken games, and occasional billing issues. The venue is popular for families and adults, especially after 8 PM when it becomes 21+. While many love the free-play options and variety, a few note disappointment with operational hiccups or changes in policies. Overall, it’s a hit for entertainment but has room for improvement in consistency.

This was such a fun place! It was our first time here and we had a blast! They have all kinds of games, claw machines and a really cool Photo Booth! Their frozen alcoholic drinks were delicious, I recommend the pineapple margarita! They also offer nonalcoholic slushi in 3 different flavors. My daughter loved the blue one! We just got some simple finger foods while we were there! The buffalo shrimps were soo good! To play the games you buy a card that is rechargeable. Most games only took two credits but som

Went there to just grab a quick drink and chill out. Had a great bartender she told me a bunch about the restaurant. Can't wait to go back all around great atmosphere.

I recently visited Game Over and as a vintage game buff, I was thrilled with the selection of games they had to offer. The atmosphere was great and the drinks were pretty good as well. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the games, creating a fun and enjoyable experience. However, I did notice some minor damage to some of the games, which was a bit disappointing. Despite this downside, I still had a fantastic time at Game Over and would highly recommend it to other vintage game enthusiasts. I wou

My 1st time going here and will DEF go back. The burgers are HUGE & DELICIOUS, the fries were SO FRESH & DELICIOUS too! The employees were ALL SO VERY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. GREAT place to eat at and can take kids to play video games! They even have Party Packages ????

Woah. This place is neat! Took the kids here for lunch and some games. It is deceptively HUGE. So many game choices on top of good food at good prices. We will 100% be coming back

So, they no longer do the deal with spending $20 and paying for free. The bar tender said that people were dropping off kids and leaving them there. So they have cards you can buy the hour or credits. Each game is one credit. They were a lot of racing games, like a lot. There were a few retro games. I would say about 1/5 of the machines aren't working. The kids got chicken fingers and free refills, which was a nice bonus. You can bring the kids until 8pm and then you have to be 21. Also, they have

Best arcade experience. Better than Edison's. I would say there was at least 100 different arcade machines. Even a few vintage games from the 90s. The food was great and had a decent bar as well. Definitely fun for all ages and will definitely be going back.

Hands down, this Is a great place. Good food, unique drinks and all around good time. Need a few games to be up but for the most part very very enjoyable experience for the whole family.

3 levels of new and old games and claw machines. Full bar, including a wide selection of frozen drinks and food! The service was friendly!

We had an amazing bartender who made incredible drinks. We went to play some games and had an issue with the card machine, staff fixed the issue quickly along with compensating us for the issue. The management and staff was very friendly !! We will definitely be coming back ..

Seems like a good adult arcade bar. Drink prices are good, I did not have food but their prices are reasonable, prices for games are a little much for me but I'm a bit nostalgic for old arcades so I probably wouldn't be happy with anything these days. My biggest complaint is out of the two games I played there, both had issues with their controls. Obviously damaged buttons or relays that created delayed input or just missing input, meaning you wasted your money trying to play. I'm sure that's not the cas

This place absolutely rocks! Not only is the games fun, and the place extremely clean, the staff is very welcoming and goes above and beyond for customers! We had my gender reveal party today and they went above and beyond to make everything perfect, I highly recommend this place and will be coming back soon!

Have to say very impressed with the turn around of this place. The change is awesome. Took my son the other day he had a blast playing the games. Still great food. Awesome place to hang out and get food and a few drinks while the kids play games. The bartender nailed my drinks too. Hard to find good bartenders. Awesome place would recommend to anyone ?????? I'LL BE BACK FORSURE. Updated. Came back for my second time and I'll never return again. Wow this time it was HORRIBLE. I SPENT $85 ON BAR FOOD. WAITED

We had a great time! Ordered loaded potato skins, fried broccoli and cheese, and fried mushrooms. All were delicious. There were tons of game options for everyone on multiple floors from vintage pinball to newer games like giant crossy road. We will definitely be visiting again in the future.

What a cute little concept bar! They are still in their soft open so free to play games while waiting for your food. The food is good. My fianc?e loves their boneless wings. The sauce is really good and made in house. Their Philly is pretty good too! I can't wait till they are fully open this place is gonna be a lot of fun. Right now in their soft open some of the games don't work- but all of them that do you can play as much as you like. So glad an arcade space is coming to Alton. Since they are not fully

I had my son?s birthday party there last year. Everyone had a great time from the children to the adults so this year I wanted to have my son?s party there again because everybody had such a great time. It was terrible this time I spent $300 for my kid, my six-year-old to have a birthday party for unlimited gameplay When you get the unlimited gameplay the cards don't work correctly. It took a while for them to even start working then when they did work, it will cool down and not allow the kids to play it fo

The food was inexpensive, the play was inexpensive, the food was fresh and hot, the drinks were delicious. I was really taken in on how clean and cool the atmosphere is! Plus that slushie from the very nice young lady bartender has me ready for another visit!

My kids had a good time, so I guess that's all that matters. I will say though, whoever your cook was between 1pm-4pm June 7th, he is kind of an ahole. I went by the counter because I heard the number before ours called, so I was just preparing in case our order was next, the guy who rang us up asked if there was something I needed, and I was trying to explain I thought our order was next and was cut off by their cook when I wanted to say "but no rush if it isn't", I was told basically it's got a long way,

Had a great time! Tons of games, the food is yummy. The slope down to the lower level was a little intimidating though. Staff and everyone in general was nice ?? I would definitely recommend for a fun family day!!

This was our second time at this location, the first was a fairly large birthday party and that went exceptionally well and the most recent was a date night out. Shirt story: We had a slight issue but the amazing bartender and GM on shift were great. TLDR: The money manager was hanging out off duty in the kitchen, I identify this person and that because I asked prior to leaving and this was the information I was given, talking to the kitchen folks and upon walking up the counter I attempted to gain the at

Had my son?s birthday party here on 6/20/2025. Excellent experience other than the ?private party area? was not

Nice bar, similar to Fast Eddie's, with more expensive food. Steak and Philly sandwich were great, burger and fried mushrooms were OK, and fries were fries. Bartender was responsive and vibe for a Wednesday is what one would expect

Food is delicious and you get a lot of bang for your buck with the arcade. Unfortunately, I noticed a lot of the same machines were down during both my visits.

My kids and I had a ball!!! The staff were friendly excellent customer service The food was delicious generous helpings!!! Not to mention the alcoholic slushy the crown apple was delicious I was definitely feeling it?? Definitely my go to when I come to town

We had a great time! The pizza was meh, but the loaded potato wedges were awesome! Plus, you got a lot of food for your money. I love that the games are free! You just walk up and play. The slushy bar was really good. It was $6 for alcohol 4 without. It's a great place for kids. After 8 pm, it's adult only. There were plenty of working games. Seating is a little tight, but our group of seven did just fine. It was fun, we will be back

Great place for a drink and some good bar food. Staff was very friendly and the $5 hamburger I had was very good. This is an all cash establishment for drinks and food they do have an ATM on site. Order your drinks at the bar and your food at the kitchen counter. All menu items seem to be between $4 and $6.

By far my FAVORITE place to eat in Alton. AMAZING food and very good prices. They now allow kids and offer carry outs! If you haven't tried it before I highly suggest you do. They are closed Monday & Tuesday.

I'm too young to know what an arcade felt like in its golden era, but I've been to about every arcade in the area (up-down, edisons, the escape etc) and none of them have the variety and volume of games that they do here. New and old. Tons of giant 4d shoot em ups. Game prices are extremely reasonable and the claw machines are winnable! I imagine how I felt was how kids in the 80s felt hahaha. When we came a couple months ago only a handful of the games were fully operational and the back room was closed. W

Food is mid. And pretty much all the games are broken so they don't actually play as intended. They take your money and don't even work properly. We spent 80$ on games and probably over half of that was on games that straight up did not work and just stole our money. That seems to be the business plan behind this place

Absolutely love this place! We went tonight for the first time. All of the staff was really welcoming. We had a problem with the bowling game, the employee came right over, got it running & even checked back after a few minutes to make sure we didn't have any more issues with it. I was really impressed with that kind of service! Food was great & the kitchen staff was super friendly. We received wonderful service from the bartender. I highly recommend the Jolly Rancher Watermelon Slushie. We were blown away

My grandaughter and adult son had a great time, me too! Lots of working games and all free!! Hopefully, the others will be fixed in time. Our food was good, and the bartender was solo, so we had to wait 15 minutes for beverages thru no fault of his! Great winter day spot for family fun!

Was looking for a good wing spot after mini corral closed and these guys saved me atmosphere is awesome but the food is phenomenal. Best wings around (the boom sauce and the hot wing sauce is so flavorful) they sometimes offer live music there just too many great things to say cool place is what I'll leave you with tho

Doordash delivery always received hot and fresh. Some unique selections. Good late night food. ??????

First time at this establishment family had a blast games for all ages cold drinks good food and service

So I went late at night, needed food at 1 am, and came to GameOver. Bartenders were amazing. Mike was letting us try new shots they were creating, and everything was just delicious. Children are allowed until around 8 pm I think so next time I am bringing my Littles to have some fun and eat the food. Everything was so good.

It's a family oriented environment. Great for all ages. Especially for the ages of 3 years to everyone who loves to play games ?? this is for you. They have a ?? for adults and the food is delicious or you can sit and look or walk around. It has 3 levels, but you can't tell from the outside. I believe if you give it a try, you will truly be amazed ??.

Fun adult hangout spot. Drinks are great. Food is OK. A variety of games to play, all free!

Only paid for the 41$ card and they charged us 83$ and the owner was very rude and had his work shirt on and straight smelled heavily of whiskey slurring his words

Awesome place for all ages, went there to get food and instead of calling the order in(they don't do call in orders unless you pay over phone now)I decided to go and play some games while I waited for my order and it was a great idea

Fun time food isn't perfect but it's ok. Place is very entertaining.

Such a good place they keep it clean the food's delicious the atmosphere is perfect this is a really good place to go to for a birthday party

Love this place! Friendly service, excellent food, super low prices, and the place is sparkling clean including the kitchen. THEY HAVE SLOPPY JOES.

Great place for food, drinks and something to do on a rainy day! I was definitely impressed at the size of the place!

Amazing atmosphere! Staff were so friendly Perfect date night! Can't wait to bring my friends here!

The food here is great. They always get my order done in record time. I also love all of the amazing games. I've never even seen games like the ones they have here.

Love the food, especially the onion rings! The bartenders were great too, always smiling and quick service. If you'd rather not hear lots of video game noise and kids, go after 8 pm.

A nice place that the entire family can enjoy!

Wow! Incredible games, brand new and old school, and pinball too! Also they have $5 lunch specials on weekdays that actually fill you up! Great selection on drinks and very friendly staff! Fun for the whole family.

Joined friends that are old car enthusiasts there for lunch on Friday. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

UPDATE* Decided to come back and dine in a couple weeks ago and while the food was good, the new owners still didn't have their liquor license and were unable to serve drinks which was disappointing. I also didn't care for the new gaming setup they had going on. It just changes the entire atmosphere of the place. Will still order for pickup, but probably won't be back to dine in. First time ordering take out here since the new owners took over and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu hadn't chan

It is definitely a fun place. Several machines were not working, but I attribute that to everything being fairly new and there will always be kinks to work out. We think the cheeseburgers were a bit dry. They were just cooked a tad too long. The mushrooms were great and the fried green beans were also very good.

The food was great!! At least the boneless bbq wings I had were! The games were confusing like are they free or?.. Some were broken or not working and the basement and other section was closed when we went, but for the MOST part the games are good! Still a fun place to go with friends or family but not a super long experience we were there for just an hour. Staff were super nice! I would go again but I would like the games to be fixed or removed if they don't work.

Better than ordinary bar food, the staff was really nice and unlimited games is icing on the cake. They have really opened up and improved the venue. They also have a diverse collection of games. Went today and stayed for a few hours. Had a really good time and will return again soon. Love what you guys are doing with this place.

Not serving food in house on a Wed at 7pm and only accepting door dash orders is crazy.

Awesome atmosphere lots of drinks options.

Amazing. Place has a grill, menu includes mainly burgers and sandwiches as well siders and special pizza. We had 1/2 pound burger with tater tots and fried fish sandwich with fried pickles. Food was very good, good sized servings with dips. Utilities served from an automate one at a time <3. Place is very clean. Toilets clean. Some machines were out of order, but there was still tons of games to choose from. Place also has a bar, you can order vast variety of alcoholic slushies, and selection includes 2 n

Just shows you by reviews that some people will grip about nothing. Food has always been great and get great helpings. Lots and lots of very nice Free Games!!!! How anyone could complain is beyond me.

Alot of fun! I even played the games! Great food.....good bartenders! AMAZING PRICES!

I love the drinks and atmosphere but the food is trash. The fish was fried so hard til there was no meat inside, fries over cooked, the smash burger was very bland no salt or flavor. What a waste of money

I visited Game Over for the first time today there was an older looking cook I'd say mid 40s he seemed very spiteful and was not welcoming at all once he approached the counter to take our order he looked me and my daughters up and down frowning as if we were bothering him, when I did order he answered my question about the menu and games with an unnecessary attitude which I ignored. I went to purchase games cards and then sat at the bar to wait on our food and I literally watched him eat fries right out of

Food: Pretty Good and well priced Game Selection: Not bad for a soft opening Service: Pretty good for 1 bartender and a pretty packed house. Reason for 2 stars is solely on my final tab. I was given the receipt and I pointed out that I was charged for a couple of drinks that weren't mine. Manager was called and he voided, then somehow when my final bill was charged to card 3 extra drinks were on it. So if you run a tab WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS. If it wasn't for me being over charged by 3 drinks($12) they

Have been here a few times now and it is an awesome place that keeps getting better by the day. There are tons of arcade games to play, a full bar, and a great kitchen. The bartenders and staff are very friendly and helpful. Great place for both adults and kids. Can't wait to go back again!

Most the games are broken and not set up. Just rows of broken games. It was very sad, let alone the 1 bartender was so lost at her job, no clue what to do. And another just kept going behind the bar, not helping, and serving just the 1 person they were with. And the worst part of the whole thing was the chicken and dumplings. I have never ate chicken that tasted like tuna. So mushy yet somehow the driest thing ever. This business is going to fail due to poor over sight. Needs a staff member to overlook the

No body knew what was going on when I came in for an interview. Yes I was late, but I let everyone know way ahead of time. So I couldn't imagine food or service being any much better.

Had a great time and really good food. Some of the games are broken but there were so many different games and options (you can't beat free with a purchase of food), I can't complain. My kids loved it and we will be back.

What's not to love about an arcade bar! Place is clean, staff is friendly, they broadcast sports and the food is good. That's every reason to go.

Food was nasty. Stood by the kitchen and it smelled like the sewer. Won't be back

This is an awesome place to go. The food was great. Took a little longer to get it than I thought but it was good. I had the chicken Philly. The best part though the games were free. Although I hear once the whole building opens it will be pay to play, which is fine. I'm just happy I got to play for free this time

I love the idea of this place. They still have a lot of games that they need to fix but they did just open. The food was good and the drinks were too. Games are all free so it's a great area to hang out or go on a date. After 8pm it's 21+ only. Definitely recommend trying this place out it's a cheap place to have some fun!

I've heard how great the food was so this was my first time trying it. The place was empty of customers. When asking if they were just having a slow night, the guy who was preparing my order stated that it's been slow since the restaurant changed hands 2 weeks ago. The 2 staff there were extremely friendly. I'm hoping that they were filling in for a cook as my food was way over cooked. I'll try another visit in the near future to see if things get better for them. I hope it does.

Amazing food???? shout out to the kitchen crew yall are amazing!!!! Mix drinks are great bar tender is funny and friendly made me the perfect slytherin ??martini and hey he looks kinda like tom Holland! ?? Free games great environment ??

Just tried Chubby's for the first time today and really enjoyed it! I ordered the boneless maple bourbon wings and they were incredible, very sweet and a thinner sauce which I like. My boyfriend ordered the Philly cheese steak and really enjoyed it, it was very filling. We ordered sweet corn bites too and they were really good. You order food and drinks at the window and then they bring it to your table. They had lots of arcade games too which was pretty cool.

Normally I love it here. Today I did a call in order. I had to call a few times before they answered. No biggie. I was told 30 minutes. I got there and my order wasn't even started. The white guy behind the counter said "When you keep calling I'm trying to make orders" That was rude. Then when my food was finally done he handed to me and said "HERE" He also was rude with the lady there waiting to pick up her door dash order. I understand they were busy but no excuse to be bluntly rude.

Besides the food being tasteless and my marinara being ketchup mixed with something else. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. The guy that took our order seemed unenthusiastic to serve us. Very dry and rude overall and the bartender attempted to put gummies in my drink with no gloves just her hands and didn't show any proper hand hygiene overall. Will not be back after this although I was excited to go and explore the service I was given I wouldn't recommend the place to my dog.

Was not told before ordering that there was an Hour and a half wait for food, when we got the food we were missing a burger so one of us went without dinner. Food was also terrible. The people cooking the food were vaping in the kitchen. Not enough tables to sit and eat, people trying to constantly steal chairs from us. People standing up and eating waiting for a table. Many games were broken or not working. Kids running wild all over the place. I suggest getting rid of serving food all together and getti

Great concept, poorly executed. Serves food that has a horribly long wait time, and only 2 tables to sit at unless you can find a place at the bar. Majority of the games didn't work, and people were smoking cigarettes in the basement. Maybe it could be better if it was fixed and it had seating and figured out their kitchen stuff.

If I could leave zero stars, I would definitely leave zero stars. I took my granddaughter there over 50%. I'd say more like 70% of the games were broken. We literally only stayed for 30 minutes for the food to get done. Very terrible experience.

Absolutely excellent food and entertainment for your dollar. Great place to take the kids but also a great place for a late night out.

Such an amazing time !!! Great vibes and a lot to do and Stacy at the bar was a 10/10 !!! She was amazing and did great on recommendations ! Food was amazing also!!! Definitely try the pizza!

This place is awesome free games if you get 20 in food

It's a great place to eat. Friendly workers. Me and my mom go a few times a month.

The food is so good and for a good price! Everything is made to order. I usually get a cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger is huge and has a ton of flavor. The atmosphere is down to earth and not fancy. It's just a great place to have a beer and bite to eat.

I hate to leave a negative review on what looks to be a new place but jeez if you're not ready to open the doors then don't. Fyi, your'e not ready to open. There is no staff, no alcohol and extremely long wait times on food. 2 hours in my case and all of the food didn't even make it out by then and we had to get a refund for the remainder of it. The arcade games are mostly free play so that is cool while you wait and the food was decent. That's where the 2 stars come from.

20 on food and all the gamers are free at that time it's the best game place I've ever been too foods is all ways great all the kids got too plays any game they wanted to and as many times as they wanted to im 49 and I had a blast with my kids

Came here with my wife, been waitin an hour for our order. Kitchen as no sense of order, just get out orders in whatever order they can. The potato skins are over cooked. Definitely an extemely busy place.

It was a terrible experience. Bartender was great I give her five. Can't commit on food, the cook wouldn't take our order, there was no one else there ordering food,he had one ticket that he was cooking and that was a to go order. We walked out after waiting 10-15 minutes for him to take order. Went to Fast Eddie's.

Delicious, reasonably priced food. Nice variety of drinks. Huge, really cool building with nice dining/bar/band set up. This bar/restaurant is great for everything. Comfortable atmosphere for family dining. Nice place for happy hour or for special occasion group meeting. Quieter areas to have a nice one on one conversation or date night. The staff are friendly and attentive. Even the owner Kevin is a fun guy!

Same good bar food when it was Chubbys. Not a gamer but loved playing pinball. All games are free, for now. Was told when the whole place is up and running it will be pay to play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
