Galactix

Galactix

Reviews Summary

Galactix is a highly praised space-themed barcade in Astoria, celebrated for its immersive atmosphere, unique decor, and extensive selection of pinball and arcade games. Reviewers love the app-based payment system, eliminating the need for coins. The drink menu, especially ciders and beers, receives consistent praise, along with friendly, enthusiastic staff. The venue's retro-futuristic vibe, including themed bathrooms, adds to its charm. While some note limited game variety beyond pinball, the overall experience is described as fun, welcoming, and perfect for adults. A few mention minor drawbacks like a $10 minimum for the app or microwaved food, but these are overshadowed by the overwhelmingly positive feedback.

This place is so freaking sweet! They have so many unique options for beers as well as a very fun and iconic video game selection. The employee Jessie gave us the grand tour and explained in detail all the necessary information pertaining to our crews and games, it felt as if he was purpose built(by god) to do this exact job. I cannot recommend this place enough, it felt like a total spaceship.

Cool little hidden spot for arcade nerds who like to drink. Great beer selection and many cool and unique arcade and pinball games to choose from! Will definitely be back ??

Don't judge this place by its front door. It looks very uninviting, but be prepared to be blown away once you step inside. It looks like some sort of spaceship or something inside. When we got there there was a new gentleman training and both of the employees were very friendly. They had a lot of good beers on tap and some snacks too that were reasonably priced. They didn't have a ton of variety of games, mainly pinball machines. The payment system was sort of convenient but there was a $10 minimum which

Loving the emerging gaming culture in Astoria. This place has a unique vibe and the pay via app worked better than I thought it would. Definitely will be back.

Their front door isn't the most inviting, but if you dare to open it you will immediately launch into hyperspace. Amazing pinball selection, other unique and rare games, an excellent tap list, and a super easy to use payment system. I will absolutely visit again on my next trip to Astoria!

Another gem of Astoria. Do you like Star Wars? Science fiction movies? The inside of this place will blow you away. The almost hidden black door opens to an outer space experience. Great drinks, great food, the guy at the bar was exceptionally nice. Very hard to explain the incredibleness of this place. Definately a place to bring the older kids as well. I'll definately be back with family and kids.

Ever since discovering Galactix we've made it a point to stop in whenever we visit Astoria! As a child of the 80?s I love the ambient sounds of arcades and being able to get a drink while we play (I hear that ethyl alcohol speeds up reaction times) really turns things up to 11. So to speak. My only ?complaint? would be the lack of proper cocktails? I'm not a beer drinker but the generous selection of interesting ciders makes up for things. Welcome aboard and cheers!

This place is a totally hidden gem in Astoria. Food was super good and very cheap, i only had soda but the bar looked cool. Theirs maybe 30 machines total so it's a medium sized arcade and bar but the entire place keeps you immersed in the spaceship vibe Parking is free after 6 and this place opens at 5 so street parking is easy to find

Great place! I am excited to bring lots of people here on Onward Adventures crawls! Great vibe, ciders, beer, and games an outer space atmosphere! Thanks for adding your sticker to the bus!!

Super cool place.. totally reminds me of Star Wars. The place brought back some childhood memories. Great selection of both games and adult beverages. ??

Wow, what a special place. Visited Astoria over the weekend and ventured into this place. Couldn't believe it. The amount of work and creativity that I would imagine went into this place was evident around every corner. Quite honestly, it was like something Ive never seen. Felt like I was in some wild Sci-Fi episode or re-reading RP1. Awesome games, awesome customer service. And for some reason that pizza cam really had me transfixed. ?? ????Excited to return.

Loved visiting here! The entrance in an alleyway makes it feel kind of like a secret club. I was at first grumbling about using an app to pay, but it's kind of nice to not worry about having quarters. I loved the Les Schwab pinball machine!

What a fun place! An amazing number of gluten free ciders and wine spritzers. Fun place to have a drink with your partner and play games with the kids. The app is really easy to use.

This place is so much fun! We are not drinkers, but as children of the 80's, going into a great arcade is always awesome. The payment app was convenient. The atmosphere is on point. Awesome music and fun lighting. Great assortment of games, both old and new. We will be back!

This place is home away from home for my husband and I! We love the vibe of arcades, but the aesthetic of this place is such a dream! The music, the lights, it's as if you are in a vaperwave star trek ship in cyberpunk world. Our favorite.

Just popped in for a drink and some quick arcade play and really jealous of Astoria for having a fun spot like this. Great drinks on tap and cool basement like space with sci fi theme full of old school arcade games. Was pretty quiet tonight but those of us there were having an awesome time. Hope to return soon!

1980's futuristic vibe with super nice staff and nostalgia that will help you properly disassociate, losing hours of time... forgetting the actual timeline and transporting you back to being a kid zoning out at the arcade. There's also lots of beer and cider to choose from with snacks. Bring the kids -yours or just any random kid - and blast to the past while simultaneously feeling like you're in a space ship.

Log entry 666:420 - Date of visit 8-6-23 3 accomplices and myself boarded Galactix - time approximately 1400. Crew has done an incredible job with presentation and cleanliness of facility. Good variety of arcade games - of particular note are Spectre Files: Death Stalker and Dariusburst: Another Chronicle. Good selection of reasonably priced beverages available. Note, downloading an app is required to play arcade games. It works fine but is an inconvenience on first visit. One complaint - Flash Gordon p

First time there. Was so much fun once you figure out what to do! Non expensive. Should advertise a lot more. Couldn't even do a check in on Facebook. My daughter and I had a blast!! I've told many about this place now across the river! Advertise!!

Me and the Wedgehead boys had a really good time at what can only be described as a Space Mountain Tiki Barcade. Crazy cool vibe, great staff, drinks, awesome lineup of arcade games and pinball. Can't wait to come back!

I love this arcade - have been several times and it has the right balance of games, atmosphere & libations. I'm actually alcohol-free, and they have a big range of non-alcoholic brewed beverages including some gluten free cider options. Yes, that's just juice, but it tastes good and soothes the burn of not taking advantage of their great taplist. :) We just did our first Films With Benefits event - focused on Nick Cage - and despite the fact that we are NOT trivia buffs, NOT Nick Cage fanatics & were genera

This place is like walking into flynns arcade in Tron. Great tunes, beer, a CRT displays a rotating pizza I assume is in the back for purchase. The pinball and arcade games are in great condition and the app works pretty flawlessly. Check it out pinheads, you wont be disappointed.

I was hesitant at first about needing to use the payrange app but it turned out to be quite convenient. I was able to split $25 between 2 people and play games for over an hour. Amazing place with an awesome staff and a very cool Sci-Fi theme. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and a chill atmosphere.

This place is just so cool. Went last night with some friends and their kid and we were blown away. Sci-fi, cyber punk, anime futuristic vibe done the right way making it so fun to explore their menus and games. The owner was so kind and you can just tell this place was created from a vision and they executed it perfectly. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for unique hole in the wall places. Felt like I walked into an alley in Tokyo and entered a whole new world. Will be back!

Fantastic place. Lots of games all paid through the app. Really shows they care about playing the retro stuff while still having new pinball.

Awesome arcade! Amazing setup and they have a great selection of drafts! The whole thing is an arcade lovers dream! Btw: Entrance is to the left of the South Bay Fish House down some stairs, theres a parking lot right infront of it.

Best arcade ever. Employees are always extremely nice. Games are awesome and some very rare. A must do when in Astoria. Kids 5+ welcome.

Some friends and I were visiting the coast for the weekend (from Washington) and had such a fun time with the expansive selection of arcade games and friendly/knowledgeable staff! They not only have a great beer selection, but the atmosphere of the location is jaw dropping to say the least! It is clean, and there is so much detail to make this location appear as if you're in a sci-fi bar from some work of fiction. If you love pinball, or just looking to have a drink in a VERY cool place, this place is wort

I adore this arcade! Best in town, great games new and old. Good pizza and drinks. The bathroom is so fun, lol. The whole place was really done up nice.

Had an absolute blast. A little muggy in there but absolutely worth it for the atmosphere, not to mention the great selection of classic arcade games. Highly recommend

fantastic ambiance, the decor just has to be seen to be appreciated. seriously it's dope. the drafts are an untraditional, but appreciated, 50/50 mix of cider and beer. staff was fantastic, bonus points for being cool and chatting. the only knock is the way you pay.. - no wifi to download an app that is required to play. - no 3/$2 discount. $1 a pinball game. - only $.25 fee to load less than $5 is decent tho - the fluted glasses, while classy af, can easily be broken on machines/plungers. -gotta give

Loved the look and feel of thos bar immediately! The bar tender wS great! Until we tried to play some pinball. Even though all the machines say insert Quarters here and tell you how many to insert, you can't actually pay with quarters you have to have the app which my bank card didn't support so I was unable to play any of the games. And why have labels on each machine that tells you how much in quarters it costs if the machine doesn't take quarters. And if your bank doesn't support tap to pay you can't pla

What a hidden gem of an arcade on the coast! Amazing beer and cider selection, and whomever is responsible for putting games on the floor definitely knows their stuff! Galactix has the only Deathstalker cab I've ever seen outside of Chicago, and they have Bitmap Bureau's Xeno Crisis in the Neo-Geo cab. There's also this weird game hidden in the corner that I vaguely remember playing, but am having a hard time remembering any specific details about. I got to level 3 and remember meeting some nice men in fanc

Loved this place. Amazing cider and beer selection, calm atmosphere with perfect theming to match the vintage games selection. Bets was our bartender and was such a pleasure. We will be back for all of the above and the Fortune and Glory cider on tap (please please please continue selling the Hyde Park cider).

This place is excellent! Great atmosphere, huge selection of pinball machines. Their other game offerings aren't going to blow you away, but there's a little something for everyone. the whole place has a slight space ship vibe and that extends to the bathroom as well. No dirty coins or janky card scanners, plus they have Hydro Thunder!

Huge selection of games at a reasonable cost. No coin-system (fully electronic payment through an app). Service was incredible. Food and drink selection was top tier. Also a cool game with a backstory at the end of the spiral of games. Even the bathroom was cool.

I'm a GenXer who grew up through the dawn of the video-game era. This place is super legit and *really* shows their love for the gaming experience. It's excellently curated. They've got some *super* old school classics, some bonafide special rarities, and a good balance in-between. And all the games have got excellent action. You might worry a paddle might flip slow, or a button might not snap, but obviously theses games get real TLC. For my money, though, their best game was something I'd never tried or ev

Had such a blast hanging out in this galaxy themed spot. The draft options were great and staff was super sweet. Really appreciate each station having a place to hold the drinks. Absolutely loved the ease of using the app to pay for the games, cant believe I have not seen this at other barcades!

This place is a blast. Lots of cool video games and pinball with an amazing galactic theme. Cider and beer on tap with good munchies including pizza, nachos, and pretzel nuggets. Don't forget to check out the restroom, it's epic.

We didn't even have time to buy drinks or play games but this place is an absolute VIBE. Stunning, beautiful, magnificent beautiful interior design. I don't see enough pubs with unique concepts, but this one nailed it :))

Coolest spot in town! And if you want to feel like a cool person, then you can go here and feel cool! Definitely love the vibe and all the options, the games and the drinks on tap. I've always been helped by the same person who is always super sweet and personable. As everyone else mentioned, you need your phone to pay. Sometimes it isn't my favourite, but overall, I think it's a pretty neat system and it doesn't keep me from choosing to come here over the other joints.

The games are great and we had a blast there!! We found a large selection of diverse local beers and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The game selection is awesome, their pinballs are superb (but it is expensive $1 per game....) and they also have very very cool retro and modern arcade machines.

So much fun. Perfect setting. It only takes loading the card once and then some drinks. Bam! A full few hours of fun. Chloe is an absolute treasure! So sweet and helpful

Amazing hidden gem bar and arcade in Astoria! Stumbled across this sweet underground spot on our visit, and had a ton of fun! Dozens and dozens of old school arcade and pinball machines in a super cool neon sci-fi themed space. Huge local craft beer and cider selection on tap with friendly staff. For us, the retro two-player sit-down racing games were a big hit. The futuristic spaceship theme is so well done. Coming in from the street, it felt like stepping into a little 80s TRON-like other world. FYI, the

If you're into pinball, beer/cider and/or Star Wars/Trek, this arcade is for you. Fantastic decor - they did a great job! Good beer selection and good pinball selection. Kids under 13 not allowed and kids must be out after 5 or so. Little hard to find, though. Basically a basement joint in the middle of the block. Had a great time.

We were looking up things to do in Astoria and found this place. The entrance was a bit hard to find and felt like finding a portal into the 80s. The ambiance was so cool a bit of a mix between a bar you would find on the starship Enterprise, the arcade from Tron, and games from the last starfighter. Reasonably priced arcade games, you don't even need quarters, great selection of beer and ciders, and a very friendly bartender. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a hidden speakeasy arcade exper

Awesome underground futuristic vibe! Glad we found this on a rainy Friday night in Astoria.

An amazing place to hang out, excellent arcade game selection, good drinks, and an above and beyond atmosphere. The bartender working when we went was super nice and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a chill night at a great price.

I'm not a gamer, but having this place around makes me happy. Any way to add or keep to the fun things in 80s and 90s.

Always lovely service when I come in! The beer & cider on tap is fantastic. The selection of retro arcade games is unmatched!! Wonderful place for pinball too ??

Very good Arcade at Astoria! Pizza Is Microwaved But Very Good Games, also the way to get credits into a game is using a app! Very cheap, Check it Out. Update 2024: I am switching from 4 stars to 5 stars with the info [which I had now just seen,] from the Arcade, I still recommend this as a Go-to Bar & Arcade with a arcade machine holding a port of Polybius which is a mythical game that mind controls you; Please note that the game here is NOT the original one and does not mind control you!

Great selection of games, plenty of seating and good beverage selection. Your inclusions of some shmups is noted

This place is fantastic! The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and approachable. Just a great place all around. If you are visiting or new in town and enjoy Arcade and pinball machines this place is for you. Do yourself a favour and check it out!

Stoked to have this arcade in town! There's an eclectic mix of games ranging from staples like Stranger Things pinball to fantastically weird games like Les Schwab pinball and Polybius arcade game. Bar with a large selection of taps has a pleasant low light lounge area. Games can be paid for through an easy to use app. No kids after 5.

Love that all the games are activated by my phone. No cards to lose and no tokens littering my pocket. Food was good: so we're the drinks. Dope music will come back again !

This place is so fun! The drinks are always great and the bartender is always a delight! We went on new years and they were nothing but kind and accommodating. The gaming is so fun and the vibes are great. 10/10

Came from England on our honeymoon and was recommended to take a trip to Galactix. It did not disappoint! Such a fantastic setup and atmosphere with an amazing variety of games and beers and cider on tap! Our experience was made all the more memorable by the super friendly staff Bettz; who was full of enthusiasm, knowledge and positive energy. 100% recommend!

Was back in Astoria for a weekend stay. Found this place, stumbled into it, really. Walked in and felt like I was in the digital world, and Tron was going to walk around the corner. Good beer, snacks, and CHEAP (25 cent per play) games. So many 80s throwbacks kinda subtle, really. 20/10 going back for a second night!

Great stop for beers and ciders on tap! Don't get me started on their pinball and arcade machines! Super addicting and a great stop for in between bar hopping!

We came in here during a trip to Astoria. They have a few very rare games in their collection! The place makes me think of Ten Forward if it had been remodeled. They really lean into the theming here, which is awesome! They also have an impressive tap list! We hope y'all are still around when we come back to Astoria!

SUCH a fun spot! The vibe is that of a futuristic 70s movie/80s cartoon with fun games, great service, a fantastic tap list, and atmosphere that you don't want to leave. A must-do if you're in Astoria

Awesome place! I love that it has a hidden entrance. Although it was "hidden" it was not secret. The space got pretty cramped towards the end of our visit and there wasnt much room to go between games. Will be coming back when i need my next space arcade fix.

Super cool design, very clean and the people are awesome! They had great drinks on tap and the nachos were great too. Definitely coming back!

Awesome place, wish more people knew about it, its location is kinda funky, passed the stairs the first time looking for it. It's almost like a secret layer for locals. Much better than gizmos in selection and atmosphere ??

An amazing find that feels like entering a dream. I always try to go back when I'm in town.

Great tap list with large cider selection. Strong mix of arcade machines, and the Darius Burst cabinet is an especially impressive experience.

Such a cool fun spot! Great selection of beer and cider (lots of cider ??), and love the vintage games and space decor! Definitely will be back :)

Excellent staff, excellent drinks, and excellent pinball! Always a great time to be had here!

While visiting some friends in Astoria, they took me here and it was so much fun! I loved the decor and the selection of games!

Awesome place to hang with friends, play some games and have some drinks!

Fun atmosphere, good beer, and some great pinball tables.

Underrated gem that teleports you back to a living Sci-fi movie from 1998

So many pinball machines and arcade machines! I love the app you can download to pay for the machines. Very cool futuristic vibe and a welcoming atmosphere

This place is cool as F. Underground 90s arcade with a bar?..what more you'll you want. My hats off to the owner because this concept is amazing.

Great atmosphere and service.

OMG this is such an AWESOME place to play classic arcades and pinball machines. Kuddos to the owners and management for taking me back to the 80's!!

Love it here!! So much pinball fun. Good for families.

I have absolutely no complaints about this place. We had a really great time visiting. I just wish it was closer to where we live, so we could stop in every weekend.

Fun spot in Astoria that had an excellent variety of games in an awesome setup. Really felt like you are getting on board a ship. Plus - POLYBIUS

Great beer and cider selection. Awesome pinballs machines and classic arcade games.

Super chill place. Like walking into the future with the decor. Arcade games are great!

Fantastic, welcoming arcade with a good selection of pinball machines and arcade cabinets.

Great atmosphere, large variety of games, local drinks and snacks, and a friendly staff.

Cool little spot. Hard too find for visitors (it's below fish house) but a lot of thought and effort went into putting it together

Was a great place to visit with the wife. They had driving, pinball and arcade games.

Looks so cool but its closed rn on sept 20th at least, definitely will be coming here when its open!

Delish beer, cider and great machines with no cash required. So good!

Great customer service and awesome space! Will definitely be back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
