The $12 weekend family days are praised for affordability. Some note limited food options, parking challenges, or occasional game malfunctions. We had such a fun time here. There was a lot of arcade games, classics and newer ones. There was air hockey, foosball, and two bars for drinks. There was one in the main arcade area, and one in the back that had the karaoke/dance floor. We were there on Saturday, when they had karaoke going from 7-10:30, and when we got there, we had paid $12 for the entry fee. This is a bar/21+ place, so make sure you have your IDs! Also, there is parking on-site, but it does fill up quickly.

Do you enjoy the thrill and excitement of arcade fun? Do you remember the days when going to the arcade was one of the best times of your childhood? Do you enjoy pinball? If you answered yes to any of these it ??s, You're in for a treat or is it a blast from the past ??? Either way Free Play Bar Arcade is a great time with family and friends alike.

This place is awesome. My wife and I have come here many times for date night. Mixed drinks are ok, the beer list is good. Live bands on weekends. This is our first time going on family day. $10-$12 a person play/stay as long as you want. Pizza is not bad. Kids had a great time. It does get crowded at times and can be a bit loud, but that's to be expected.

perfect for a date night. I had a really good time with my man, I took him here for his bday he loved it. Family day is super fantastic because my children get to enjoy it also. a $10 entry fee for every game being free is a great deal. the pizza honestly is mediocre.

My deaf friends and I went at Free Play Bar and Arcade, I played arcade and I watched the Underground. I have reunion with the students and teachers from The Learning Center for the Deaf.

I did not drink or eat here, but I admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how great this place was. I was there on a Saturday, and for a 12 cover to play unlimited games was a great deal. Karaoke until 10:30 had some great performances and some not great performances. Fantastic DJ, two of my friends grooved all over the dance floor. Pleasant security, too, they answered some of my random questions. Mix ages, mostly a younger crowd.

Very fun place! $12 on the weekend to play all the games. Karaoke and DJ on Saturday night, which was cool. Only downside is that parking is tricky. I got double-parked, but luckily the staff were very helpful in getting me out of my spot.

Zara is the best bartender! ?? From the moment I walked in, she made me feel incredibly welcome with her warmth and hospitality. She's chill, down to earth, and makes fantastic recommendations. It's clear that she takes pride in her work and goes the extra mile to ensure everyone has a great experience. The games are great, but Zara alone is a reason to come back ? she creates such a positive and inviting atmosphere ??. I highly recommend stopping by and saying hello to her!

It's a great bar filled with old-school arcade games. The drinks are pretty good, most of them are on the sweeter side and creative based on games. Cover is pretty inexpensive like $10, and on weekends, they do have a live music and karaoke. They have a smoke area outside on the left side of the bar. Some of the games do need a bit of a maintenance check, and it gets very packed where it's hard to walk around sometimes. Overall a good place to give a try for a group hangout.

Staff were very accommodating to our performers!

Definitely one of my favorite barcades I've ever been to. My favorite part is that you just pay a door fee then you're good to play the games as much as you want, which I much prefer to other barcades that make you buy tokens. The atmosphere is also awesome, it feels like a step in time. Good drinks as well, pretty average prices. It's definitely worth the trip and my favorite thing to do in Worcester. My only problem... is that they removed my favorite cabinet, Point Blank 2!!!! My friends and I had never

Such a fun place! You pay to get in, then play as much as you want? video games like Super Mario Bros., QBert, etc. plus pinball and skeeball. Great bar, and the bartender Zara there is excellent! Always friendly and attentive, and makes great cocktails!

Freeplay is a wonderful spot to end the night if you happen to be in Worcester. Freeplay has amazing drinks, and a fine selection of games for your choosing. I can get busy, so make sure you get there earlier or later to avoid the mass of people. We prefer later into the night where I can play rhythm games for hours on end ??

I love coming here. Whenever I visit the Palladium I try to visit here because the vibes are cool, they have only an entry fee and the games are free. Probably my favorite bar arcade I've ever been to. I will go every time im in Worcester.

Awesome throwback to my youth! It was a lot of fun having come on family day, and seeing the two teenage boys enjoy the old arcade games as (almost) much as I had?back in the day. I really loved being able to progress through some games that I was not able to when having to spend quarters to do so?many years ago. The barkeep made his favorite drink for us which was the pictured whiskey and soda?it was awesome! Try this place for a fun date when it's 21 and over only?you really can't go wrong.

Came here on a Thursday night. $7/person cover charge for unlimited plays. Stayed for ~4 hours and barely scratched the surface of games to play. Excellent value, love the service model, can't wait to return! In the future I would eat elsewhere. Pizza was bleak. Best to leave coats in the car, there isn't anywhere to store them and only a few tables available inside. No re-entry.

Edit: adding a star, 3 to 4, they did move that speaker so that back room you can hear music games better now. Now it's just the ddr game that still has a house pa speaker making it very hard to hear the game. Getting there! The added club is nice too, very cool place overall. I wish they kept hydro thunder. I imagine it's not easy keeping up with maintenance of machines like buttons. Ski ball always missing balls or air hockey puck, cause people are idiots and take advantage of a good thing. Had the best time at free play tonight!! Was in Worcester by chance and ended up here after a concert at the palladium! Bouncer at the door was super nice and let us know where bathrooms and smoking area was, bbar etc. he was great. THEN we got to the bar and got the reason why we will return; Zara. Zara was super personal, suggested drinks and was great conversation. Zara was absolutely amazing, so personable and had great conversation. I can't wait to return to see Zara!! ??

One of the very first places I checked out when I recently moved to Worcester. I was a bit skeptical at first, but this place really is pretty great. There's a one time charge at the door, maybe $8 a person? And all of the games are free! Well except for a couple of them. They have my favorites, skee ball and galaga. Food wise: frozen pizza = so into it Cocktails: arcade themed names and shot specials All of the staff I've spoken to have been really great, Jules being my favorite. Love this spot, and you

Cheap cover for unlimited games! Love the 4 person air hockey! Also Zara is the goat bartender. Ask her for starburst shots!

Love it here! Lots of great games. I really enjoy Family days on every other Sunday with my son. I wish they were open in the day time for under 21.suggestion start 21 and over after 9p??

I come here at least once a week. Entrance fee depends on whether it's a weekend or an event, but it's under $15. You get to play dozens of arcade games for free, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Some nights they do live shows in the basement, or karaoke which is always a treat. Staff are always super friendly and actually want to be there. The bar can be crowded and the drinks can get expensive but if you are looking for a nice safe night out in Worcester this is the place.

Awesome place for an adult hangout. They have a great selection of retro arcade games. Very affordable for unlimited plays and the machines were in good condition. They have a bar and basic pizzas. There is also a section towards the back with live music. In the warmer months they have an outdoor space as well. Most Sunday?s they have a family day that is open to kids.

It's a really fun place for adults. Take your date for drinks, karaoke, live music, dancing, and a lot of games of all types. Pay a reasonable cover charge, and all the games are free. They have pinball, skeetball, shooting games, racing games, classics, and more.

Wonderful & hypnotic, the bartender Zara guided us on a cocktail journey in between the gaming and her personability that rivals any cocktail bar I've experienced in the past. They've got a star employee who I hope is being compensated fairly.

I really want to give this place 5 stars because Zara is SO awesome and the games were so fun but I have to knock one off because they don't allow reentry and they only sell pizza for food. The person I went with is allergic to cheese so we just didn't eat. I'm not saying you guys need to serve meals, but like, stuff you can make in a turbochef like French fries, mozzarella sticks, stuff like that. Honestly it doesn't even need to be hot food, just sell stuff like chips, candy, beef jerky etc. The food situ

Honestly one of the best experiences of my life, I am a bartender and might be a bit critical because of that, but Zara was the best. She was right there for anything we needed, so friendly and so attentive. I would 100% go back because of her.

Recommended by a friend while I was in the area as I'm a pretty big arcade head, not disappointed. Great selection of classic arcades, all working order and crisp and snappy. Atmosphere was fantastic, felt like 90s vibes for adults. Decent selection of pinball cabinets. If you have $7 to burn I highly suggest stopping in. The bartender was very chill, too. ~~Extra~~ Games I remember if looking for something specific Rhythm games: Pump it up pro - no card scan, no access to full menu (speed mod etc) at the

We had our work Christmas party here this past weekend and it was a blast! It does get pretty busy on weekends so be aware. Great to see them doing so well. I've been myself 4 or 5 times now but the Karaoke/DJ area was new to me. Super cool entrance to this part of the venue.

Zara was amazing! Makes really great drinks and very kind! Amazing experience!!! If I lived here I would come here all the time!!! (I'm here on vacation)

Had a wonderful time with friends! The arcade machines are all old-school games so it's definitely a great trip down memory lane at quite an affordable entry price. Will definitely like to come back again!

We took the kids for a family day at Free Play and it was so much fun and very affordable!! (It's normally a 21+ bar). It was packed and we did have to wait for some games, but we went at 2 and by 4 we could play almost any game (the hours open were 11-5). Non-alcoholic drinks were also very affordable! Lots of old school arcade games and so many pinball games!! Most appropriate for ages 7-18 for the family days.

Great place to play classic games and have some drinks. The staff are all friendly, they have karaoke. Cost you $12 bucks to get in to play all the games and let loose.

The negative reviews are people who are slow Litterly. First why would you leave your drink somewhere? Second why would you bring a back pack and third why would you complain about card charges that everywhere legit charges normally. Maybe y'all graduated off the short bus? Idk but that's just what I think. Bar is excellent. Drinks are excellent. Staff is excellent. Bathrooms are clean. Games are fun. DJ and band is cool. And mostly it's safe. No other bar in Worcester is this good. Especially when the dr

I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Zara at Freeplay Worcester, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked up to the bar, Zara?s warm, welcoming personality made me feel like a regular?even though it was my first visit. Her exceptional interpersonal skills created such a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, and it was clear she genuinely enjoys connecting with patrons. Beyond that, her conversations were a perfect blend of intelligent, engaging, and fun, m

This place is straight out of my childhood! It's surprisingly large with a huge variety of retro games. Lots of classics games, air hockey, skee ball, pinball and plenty of other stuff to do. The 21+ age requirement is such a great idea! You get to be the kid. Bartenders were good and quick. If you want some nostalgia or a taste of what being a kid in the 80s and 90s was like, check it out!

Very big with a huge selection of classic arcade and newer paintball machines. All systems work and seem well maintained. Friendly staff.

Really good place to chill after a long week. Food was good. Not the best pizza but it passed my expectations. Good games. The arcade brought back so many memories of the games. Late 90?s to my middle childhood 2004 era.

Definitely a great place to spend a few hours. As far as games, there's something for everyone. Really fun rhythm games if you don't mind waiting a bit as there aren't many cabinets for them at the moment. Like others have mentioned, could definitely use more food options. The smoking section had recently been made to be a lot smaller, which wasn't exactly pleasant considering how much more space is outside and how packed the section can get. The bartenders were friendly and provided good service. The cover

Family Day at Free Play Bar Arcade is great. You can't beat paying $12 for hours of fun!

Has a good selection list of rhythm games, including a rare Ongeki cab! They seem to be compatible with IC cards too but I haven't figured it out. They have WACCA, Project Diva, SDVX, Chunithm, and Groove Coaster. Stepmania and DDR as well. Everything was clean and functional as well. Would love to come back one day. EDIT: Came back the next day, there is also a Jubeat machine and an area for live music which is super cool. There was an equal ratio of men and women and it felt safe. Love this place

Affordable, unlimited plays and good a/c. Good amount of video and pinball games. A few air hockey tables. Can easily play for a couple of hours.

Well worth the $10.00 for free play that is paid right when you enter. They had classic arcade machines, pinball machines, skeeball, air hockey and photo booths. The bar offers beer, cider and cocktails. Loved the decor and vibe of the whole place. It really felt like you had gone back in time to the 80's.

It was really great. I played attack from mars until they kicked me out. I will steal the machine and they cannot stop me. I am untraceable. And the balls will be mine. Good atmosphere, awesome DJ, lots of good gaming options.

Free Play is great. I love that they have a lot of Japanese rhythm games and they keep getting more! The pinball is fun too and I enjoy talking to almost everyone I meet. A good crowd makes the place and I think this place got it right. Highly recommend checking it out, even if on l only for the Castlevania and DigDug cabinets.

I honestly can't say enough good things about FreePlay ? it's hands-down one of the coolest spots I've ever been to. My sister and I celebrated our birthdays there (yep, same birthday, four years apart!) and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the moment we walked in, the energy was electric. Tons of games ? seriously ? from old-school arcade classics to newer gems, all lined up and calling your name. Whether you're into button-mashing fighters, nostalgic side-scrollers, or flashing pinball machines,

Nice play to take a first date if you enjoy old video games this is your sign to go ??????

Me and the teenager , went for a family fun day, and it was awesome, the games are all classics, or soon to be classics and even new machines, lots to do and see, would be amazing for any party or to get together

This place is awesome. So many games. Super busy on a Saturday, full parking lot, every game taken up, but people move around quickly. Low cover fee for unlimited gaming. Everything from pinball, guns and dancing. Some of the games aren't entirely working - like skiball counter is off, some of joysticks stuck. As a non-drinker it's still a fun engaging environment, unlike a regular bar. The music is very loud, but a great mix. I miss the days of playoffs, and I'm happy this place exists. Can't wait to stop

It's a $10 cover to get into the bar, and you can play over 50 old school arcade games for free, yes free! No tokens at all!! Reasonable priced drinks, plus the pepperoni and cheese pizza are thin crust and are pretty good!

Good place to go if you're like me and miss the arcades of the 90s. Good drinks, too. I like their drinks names and how they kept it with the gaming theme. Excellent staff, from the door staff to the floor staff, all are very nice people. They're always rotating games in and out, which I think it's great. It's not just the same games all the time.

ZARA of Free Play Barcade makes the experience! She doesn't play about the drink and freely gives a welcoming presense. She eats she serves, only as the enviornment of this plac,e gives, bartenders are wonderful and accommodating, the people are friendly and kind. After $7 you play for free, welcoming low income and happy folks. Free Bulgaria Free the world one play at a time.

This place was pretty cool. It was super busy! A few of the machines were down so some limitations. Kitchen closes at 10 for any future food orders. Live bands and kareoke nights too!

Small entrance fee but unlimited games ??! Great deal! I highly recommend going. Pizza ?? is good too!

We came to FreePlay for their anime night and had a blast! The themed drinks are delicious! Strong but not super expensive. They have a huge selection of games and tons are multiplayer, which is awesome to play with everyone you came with. The dance floor is a good size and Dj Weebalicious was amazing! Played great music that we were able to dance to all night!

literally no complaints ever. I'm currently a sub-21 college student nearby and I visit for each of the family days, really just to play the rhythm games. Amazing cover charge for endless play helps loads when I'm locking in for several hours of Chunithm ??

This is one of the coolest barcades I've visited yet! The cover was 10$ and quite literally you had free play for the rest of the night. The bartender was phenomenal and theres something for everyone. The house cocktail menu was very inspired and the Rainbow Road is to die for. There's a decent beer list, and all the regular cocktails you might want as well as energy drinks and mocktails. Machines were in great condition except for the skee-ball but that's to be expected. Honestly the mix of old and new g

Amazing arcade these games are priceless they have everything and more best retro arcade experience ever and I literally mean that

Freeplay is so fun! I love that you only have to pay one price and then you can play unlimited games. There are so many games to choose from! They have plenty of drinks as well - local and all! The mixed drinks are good as well, the one downfall is the website says they have pizza but when we got there they said it isn't available yet. We picked that place as a night out because it had entertainment, food, and drinks but there was no food nor do they allow you to bring it into their facility. The website sh

I recently visited this arcade bar, and I had an absolute blast! We went for a bachelor party. The owner went out of his was to congratulate the groom. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of energy, making it the perfect spot for a fun night out. The selection of games was impressive, ranging from classic arcade favorites to modern hits. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Plus, the drinks were top-notch and priced reasonably. They have a great variety of craft beers and

Went by myself. 7 bucks for all-you-can-play! The bartender was super friendly. Great selection of drinks and games. Smoking allowed out back. I haven't played Pole Position since I was a kid and literally laughed from enjoyment the whole time. Great setup.

Great place to hang out! No ppl starting trouble there. Just a good time. Great arcades, and a live band, a outdoor deck.

It is an amazing place to hang out with friends or go on a date... it's +21, open till late and a good selection on booze ?? perfect place for a grown a** man or woman to let go and be a kid again ?? the only thing that personal I didn't like that they only have flat bread pizza for food... maybe just add fries and this place is complete ??

So glad they brought an old school arcade to Worcester. Especially for adults only! Drinks are great and good priced. Bartenders are very nice, music is great and karaoke on Saturday is a must!

Lovely arcade bar. All the arcades are free to play. The drinks are very reasonable price. About the same as every other bar in Boston, a bit higher than other bars in Worcester. This bar is for anime and TV shows fans, you will find a lot of people in cosplays, awesome environment. I would go again.

I had a blast with family and friends. Such a fun vibe day and night!

I love coming to FreePlay. The staff is incredible. Zara is a fantastic bartender with a great uplifting personality. Excellent service, great communication skills, and I plan on coming back as long as her and Lou work here. Great establishment and glad I came up to spend the rest of my birthday here. This place is incredible and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Zara who was serving the drinks was awesome, she made my time out worth it amd was very friendly, thanks FREEPLAY for the wonderful night out??????

Lots of classic 1980's games - a good time.

Changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I love coming here but the bar charges are sketchy. My receipt showed prices higher than what's on the menu. The bartender said there was a credit card fee. There was no indication anywhere of this fee, no sign nor did the bartender tell me prior to my order. It is inexcusable to be doing this to customers. Each item was almost an extra $1 and there was a $0.75 "supply charge".

On second inspection their website mentions it so I won't hold it too hard against the place or the bouncers, but I was INCREDIBLY excited to come here all day to cap off a day trip to Worcester, but we were quite swiftly denied entry for bringing backpacks; that's not my issue as I'm happy to oblige a rule like that, but there was nowhere to stash bags away and therefore all we could do was awkwardly leave. It feels like patrons from nearby or who drove in can work around this such that they won't need to

I frequent this place a lot and unfortunately have to say I no longer want to come back. Almost all of their pinball machines are in desperate need of maintenance and most of them have multiple things wrong with them mechanically, sometimes making the game completely unplayable. Things do not get fixed for many months. Great lineup if they were actually taken care of which is a shame. Staff was rude when I asked if they could retrieve a stuck ball. I left a beer I took 2 sips out of in a cup holder on a pin

We had a great time! Group of 11 people celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. So many games from my childhood that I haven't played in years. I could have spent all night playing different games. The bar pizza was spot on! Drinks were not expensive. Outside area was really nice as well.

We have been going here for a while but this bar is awesome!! Great variety of games including a lot of the classics. The flat bread pizza was good and it's nice they serve some food now! Love all the drinks on the menu! And the new Rewind Dance club is a bunch of fun!! Played music from the 70?s to now! We didn't want to leave! It's a very safe bar too, never any issues here, there's always security nearby.

Zara is the best bar tender in the world. This was my first experience at a bar ever and she made me feel so safe and seen and was a blast to talk to.

Free play is an awesome local bar and arcade in the city. They do offer small little bites of food, but they mostly offer games. Wide variety of games from the '80s '90s and even to today. They now have a dance hall with playing retro music from the '80s, '90s and 2000s. And outdoor patio where they were doing karaoke. This is definitely a one one stop for anybody who has friends or family in town and is looking for a neat place to hang out and have a drink or two. You could definitely kill a few hours easi

Zara is the best bartender she's stunning and makes the drinks strong, such good energy. I will be returning??

$6 For two club sodas after a $12 cover is RIDICULOUS. Will NOT be coming back. Manager was also super rude as well.

You can not beat the admission fee. You get in for a couple fivers and have unlimited plays on their massive selection of games. Fantastic atmosphere. Friendly staff. Fun drinks. My only complaint is the parking. But it's Worcester so that's just the way it is. Do not pass this place up.

Really cool place with a lot of options. Drinks were pretty good. A lot of the games need maintenance really badly. There are some sketchy people that work there. Front desk lady has a serious attitude problem and was drunk off her butt when we were there. We forgot to turn in a pocketknife that a bartender noticed and took, and the front desk lady flipped out saying she asked us a million times if we had one (she never ask once. all she said was ID please and then asked for the money) then we go to leave,

This place is a blast! There are so many arcade games whether there are new or retro. I also love Japanese rhythm games and was very excited to find that this place has more options than just DDR, which is a rare find!

Awesome Location! The games are retro and they will definitely bring you back to the 90s and earlier. Prices for the entry is 7$, remember to bring your ID! The games themselves are for free once you entered. Drinks are a little more pricey due to the low entry and free games as far as I would guess. Overall it's an absolute must go!

Cool spot. Very unique crowd is how I can best describe the vibe. Drinks were reasonable and you can't beat the small cover charge in exchange for a lot of fun.

Free Play: An incredible spot awaits you! If you're 21 or older, step right in for a mere $12 entry fee. Prepare for a blast of entertainment: video games, air hockey, and pinball galore. Outside, there's a stage for live bands and the dance floor pulses to either a live band or a DJ. The mixed drinks? It's absolutely awesome. Whether you're hanging out with friends or meeting new people, this place is exceptionally friendly. ??????

Incredible bar / arcade! Paid only $10 at the door and every game was unlimited! Tons of games in there! A lot of classics! Fantastic fun time !

Very professional know how to talk to people and you sure of them she is the best bartender around! With Zara we always have a great time when she is here she deserves a big raise. She goes above and beyond for her all her patrons!

Really fun, laid back arcade bar with great drinks. We went on a Tuesday and we had almost the whole place to ourselves. So fun!

Great place to hangout with friends playing games all night, staff are incredibly friendly and kind. Will go again soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?
