Extravaganza Wilmington

Extravaganza Wilmington

Reviews Summary

This arcade offers a mixed experience with strong praise for its rhythm games (DDR and ITG), clean environment, and helpful staff. Many enjoy the game variety and reasonable prices, especially on half-price Tuesdays. However, complaints highlight rigged claw machines, occasional broken games, and inconsistent service. While some find it stingy with short playtimes and high costs, others appreciate the fun atmosphere and rare game selections. Prizes and redemption options are generally well-received, though operational issues (hours, machine reliability) occasionally disappoint.

My son won a PS5 on Saturday, November 30th on the Cut 2 Win Machine. We were told they didn't have it (someone won it earlier in the day) and would get it for us...and here we are Tuesday December 3rd and I have the luckiest and happiest 11 year old. The owner was extremely nice and followed through. We were already impressed with the arcade, the games are current and were having fun..my son just hit the jackpot. We will go and have fun in there when we hit the mall. Course we know we might not always ge

Tuesdays every game is half priced, it's a pretty good deal. especially compared to most modern arcades. my boyfriend and I have gone multiple times and always have a good time. doesn't have the biggest selection in the world, it's fun nonetheless. and don't bother with the claw machines. they cost too much, your more likely to see a pig fly than win those. but that's every arcade.

Super Fun ?? ! Always super satisfied with this arcade! Super nice staff Nelly is super nice! And it's super convenient that it's in the mall! Can't wait to go again ??

I'm shocked no one is complaining how bad this place is. I have never been to an arcade this stingy in my life. Not only are the costs exorbitant per game, but the play time is extremely short. I spent a fortune just on the claw machines alone, which don't even pretend they will let you win

The newest arcade in Wilmington, NC, this arcade has roots from its sister location in Greensboro. The variety of the games is impressive and the fact they have (2) dance games in house will cater to those looking for some nostalgia or looking to let the kids get some exercise. The redemption games are nice and varied and the prizes worth the ticket amount. The cleanliness of the arcade is nice and, as drinks and food aren't allowed inside, free of stains on the floor and spills on the equipment.

Rhythm game enthusiasts will be pleased to know this new arcade inside of the mall houses TWO dance games. A DDR 5th mix cab running 7th mix and a beautiful ITG machine running "Simply Love" with thousands of songs to choose from. Whether you want to enjoy some ticket prize games or get to those gorgeous dance game machines, this was a very clean and enjoyable experience. The staff is helpful and kind. Not a single complaint I can think of. My brother and I plan on coming back weekly at a minimum, if not mo

Great Place, Great Games, Great Prizes, and decent prices compared to other arcades such as Dave n Busters!

Went on Tuesday for 1/2 price games. Kids had fun. Attendant was helpful for any problems.

about half the games didn't work at all. more than once I scanned my card, it took my credits, but then the game didn't work. when we went to use our tickets to buy something, the guy working there was nowhere to be found for about 4-5 minutes.

Like someone else mentioned, this place is great for the DDR enthusiast. There is an In The Groove machine too, but I don't play that, so I can't comment on it. I went specifically to play DDR and was not disappointed. The person working there was super nice and helped me get a play card. The DDR machine was DDR Extreme and it was in amazing shape. I was pretty light-footed on it out of habit from playing at home and it registered about 95% of my steps. It's 6 credits to play 3 songs, and a 20 credit play c

The claw machines gave absolutely no slack, letting no one win. This place must be owned by serious money pinchers. This must be the only place in Wilmington that doesn't care if you win nothing from a claw machine, regardless of how many attempts. The kids need something to look forward to.

I went here yesterday with a friend who came to visit from out of town and had blast. I've been saying forever now that the mall should have an arcade and I'm glad we have one now. The space is pretty big and they even had an ?In the Groove 2? dance machine which is super rare. I'll definitely be going back!!

If you're looking to just give money away, this is your place. Not a big selection of games. Only 1 pinball machine. Typical modern games to win tickets.

No hours of operation posted but the place is all lit up and running with employees in the back, and the gate closed at 4:15pm on a Wednesday.

The prices were pretty good and they had a great selection of games! I had a blast being there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
