Love barcades, really always a nice touch when a downtown has one conveniently located. We spent around 60 minutes and had played everything, I wish the place was bigger, that's the only con here. We've been spoiled by ?up-downs? in other cities. We planned coming here as a majority of our night out and were surprised at how small it is. They make do with the space, some really cool games, a nice bar and a youngish crowd. We arrived and it was quiet, by the time we left at 830 it was getting crowded, which
This place is a lot of fun, lots of old fashioned arcade, pinball and action games like Rambo, Mario Kart and Dance Dance Revolution For $5 you get a card and then $5 will get you 500 points. Each game ranges in points but many / most are 25 points (a quarter like the old days). Also had a few drinks - they have draft and bottled beverages Overall an excellent time if you have a nerdy side like I do
This is such a unique arcade that sets it apart from other retro arcade?s. While not the largest, it really hits the mark in game diversity. There's new shooting game, old school arcade style cabinets, new gorgeous pinball machines and best of all. Japanese style rhythm games. Games you just don't get a chance to play! They are in English and soooo much fun. They have a few craft draft beers for purchase. Very fair pricing. Highly recommend.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a entertaining, reasonable cost arcade in downtown Sioux falls. With games ranging from old fashion retro arcade machines (Mario, Pac-man, etc.), rhythm games (DDR, Jubeat), racing games (Initial D, Mario Cart), and more; It's a great place for people to hangout and have a great time. Shout-out to the bartenders for being super nice and very helpful.
Had a great time playing old games. Cost $5 for a card but after that games are reasonable. $5 for 500 points and games range from 25-100 so 25 cents to $1.
You can't charge 5.00 dollars (20 quarters) for a plastic card with no credits on it. It's absolutely rediculious to overcharge a new customer this amount for a .35 cent debit card. On top of having a rude bartender tell you, it states this right on the screen before you purchase it. So you have a group of 4 or 5 peaple that just walked in and spent 25 dollars with nothing to show for it. Theres no excuse for a business to be overcharging new clientele this amount instead of absorbing the cost. Terrible
Great games, great beer! I love this place. Everything is well maintained and the owners will make sure to fix something on the spot if it starts acting up. He local fighting game community meets up here on Thursdays for casual play and small tournaments, and they're real welcoming and eager to teach people. I love this place!
Owner is great. Takes care of the machines well. Awesome staff at the bar. Always a great time here. Love that Sunny's Pizzeria is making pizza there now, too!
Hidden away in a small town outside of Sioux Falls is one of the coolest arcades in the Midwest. Pop'n Music, WindJammers, Ikaruga, Mr. Driller, Point Blank, Melty Blood, and nearly every major fighting game are available here for about a quarter a play. The staff is super nice, and the draft beers an added bonus! Definitely worth the 4 hour drive from Minneapolis.
This is a pretty fun place if you miss spending quarters at the arcade than seein alot of ticket winning machines i like it its pretty awesome when your feeling bored or have nothing to do on the weekend.
Loved the variety of games and has an atmosphere that any retro gamer will appreciate...
Been there twice this week. Playing pinball pretty much alone. Good selection of games. Had a variety of bottled beers and enjoyed a salad and pizza while there
Awesome and reasonably-priced barcade. Staff are friendly and they have a pretty good selection of games. It's located in the historic Carpenter building, which has a really nice aesthetical in itself.
Did not have any food, but loved all of the retro games, and the new ones as well!! The 4 player Pacman is super fun!! Can't wait to go back:)
Their new card system is a joke. Despite the messages that pop up on the screen when buying credits, it's not explicit that your first $5 just gets you an empty game card, THEN you have to add more money to actually have credits on it. There are several other places in town that have pinball and old games and I don't have to pay what essentially amounts to a membership fee to pop a few quarters.
A little small with not much for group seating, but understand that isn't the point of the place. Lots of gaming, some of the machines didn't work. Clean environment, however the ladies room only had one of the three stalls functional. Drink prices were steep, $5/bottle, two beers on tap, and no liquor/mixed drinks. Seemed lively, bright, and safe. Edit: Appreciate the response from 81! Always nice to see businesses actively checking in. Thanks for a fun time!
81 is an arcade that has classic 80's & 90's video games plus they serve beer! No tokens and most games are a quarter to play. I LOVE this place!
Incredible food, incredible service, and overall amazing experience. No complaints. Edit: I've been here so many times, and I still haven't had a bad experience. It's such an incredible place. A hidden gem that needs to be recognized!!
Great games, friendly service, reasonable prices. We end up going here quite a bit and have no plans to stop!
I'm not usually one to leave the house to play games, specially ones that are more of the arcade type but this place was great. Very nice atmosphere, clean, games were fun, and the place is well designed. The music was loud enough to hear but not too loud. I didn't drink or eat any food but the owners were very polite and helpful. All in all I'm very impressed with this place and can easily see myself going back out soon. I'm glad my family talked me into going. It's a perfect spot to hang out and play game
It's a lot of fun to go play old school arcade games and some new ones. Very busy on a Saturday night, but able to play games without much wait. Not much space to eat, so not sure I would count on that. Bar has good selection of tap, bottle/can, and even some pop. I'd like a better selection of pop, but that's just me, non-alcoholic drinker.
Had a great time here with my wife's family. Pinball machines were probably my favorite part (especially the stranger things one that shakes a bunch!). A great selection of many different classic and new arcade games. Only thing I would recommended are better instructions on the Japanese games in English and a coin machine that takes card.
Fun and chill atmosphere. Love the game selection! Can't wait to come back.
The games are fun, but don't buy a card for points unless you like certain video games because not all games take the card. The card cannot be used for food or beverages (which I do understand), but it was 80-90% a waste of money for me because I spent $25 and only played 2 pinball games, a race game and a boxing fighting game. I left without drinking or eating because I spent $25 on points that I thought I could use for everything (that one is on me, I admit it).
A gaming gem of the Sioux Empire! With a great mix of games, nice staff & pizzeria attached to it, you can definitely make a night fly by with good food & fun. For me, it's with the drive as a day-trip getaway. I only wished I could visit more often.
The owner is clearly an arcade aficionado, and has put serious thought into his curated collection. This isn't Dave & Busters, and you won't find a claw machine here taking up space. Every game in the building deserves to be there. Best of all, most games are only 25 cents so it really doesn't cost very much to hang out here. Also, I really appreciate the 9+ age limit. Sioux Falls is lucky to have such a genuinely cool spot. Five Stars.
Seriously, too cool. A retro arcade that serves beer. The beer selection was surprisingly good. They had a mix of local beers on tap plus some bottled. Most games cost 1 quarter too! We got $20 in quarters and my wife and I played for a couple hours. Great place to bring friends, or just make some new ones. Game selection was pretty good too. Lots of favorites from my childhood and a number of imports from Japan. Should be plenty for any gamer.
If you consider yourself a gamer or a child of the arcade era then this is an awesome place. Excellent arcade with a big variety of games which were fairly priced. Nice big screen TVs for watching up behind the bar. Wall posters were fantastic. Owners were super friendly and enjoyed several hours of gaming. Appreciated that the games all had chairs for seating so can play sitting rather than standing the entire time.
I've been to over a dozen arcade bars in the country and this is my favorite, hands down. Decor is warmly nerdy and nostalgic Games are pristine condition and most are one quarter to encourage lots of play The fellow patrons are fun to talk to The beer was incredible This was amazing. Id come back to Sioux Falls for just this bar!!
I grew up playing most of these games, so it's pretty cool to get the opportunity to play them again while having a cold drink. I'm not sure why they serve food, because if you come here during the weekend in the evening, that food order better be To-Go because there's absolutely nowhere to sit and eat. People take up tables so they can leave their jackets there while they play games. A suggestion might be to install a large coat rack or implement a coat check system during the winter months? Or have a few
Changing my rating & review as this last visit was not what I am used to at what is one of my favorite places to go downtown because of all the gaming options. I noticed the game card dispenser when I got my tokens so I asked the guys working if they all needed the reloadable but annoying to have to remember game cards now & was told just the new games did, the vintage type games still took quarters. Great, until you find out that games like multi player games like Pac-Man or one of the oldest arcade items
Way better than bonus round. Bonus round owners are immature and are just downright hateful. This place the owners are down to earth. Sweeth. Work in their business and I love the game options! I love they have live gamers fees. Just a cool place. Bonus round, you owners I'm disappointed you came to this place and gave them negative stars out of jealousy. Shame on you.
This place it seriously awesome! It's so unique being a bar and arcade, and I love that they allow under age people in to play the games until a certain time. The games are only a quarter or two to play and it's all the older games that we used to play as kids. There are so many options for games and it's so convenient to be able to get drinks in the same place. Highly recommend checking this place out!
If you love button mashing fighting games, you'll really enjoy this place. The majority of the games seem to be focused around that genre. There are a few sports games, really only 2 racing games and 2 shooters plus a couple pinball machines. The beer is pretty expensive and there aren't a ton of games. I could go for more shooters ala time crisis and more racing games as well. The games I played only needed 1 quarter which was nice, but after about an hour, I was bored. That, to me, doesn't bode well for a
I really liked the place when it first opened and it was a great addition to Harrisburg as there really is nothing to do and driving into Sioux Falls to do something gets old. Most of the old arcades are only a quarter so a five or ten dollar bill goes a long way. I hadn't been in for a while and was pleasantly surprised during my last visit that he has now added pinball machines. I would have been happy with just one old one but there are several including a new Deadpool machine and an awesome Hobbit ma
Great selection of games. Craft beer (small selection, but that's ok. They're new. They have a variety of styles and breweries.) Can't wait til they have food. Seriously great atmosphere! Kid friendly (9+)
I've waited to rate this venue because my first poor visit was shortly after opening and I was willing to give poor service was due to that. Been back a few times, it's a loud arcade with bar service. The only reason I'm finally rating this is we came in specifically because we knew Sunnys Pizzeria was doing food here now. We love Sunnys so expected q bite before we move on. Sitting off the bar we didn't hear our name or ticket called. Eventually had to go fetch the pizza. While still delicious it was col
Please go here this is the best bar! You will not regret it! I love Japanese culture! They have so many Japanese games and it's amazing! Also their beer on tap is phenomenal! 1000/10
Check this out! It's right downtown and open to KIDS OVER 9, making this an awesome, family-friendly place to hang out! Most games are only a quarter! Some games are legit retro, some are knock-offs...and some don't work right, but most are fine. They do serve beer and a few food items, tho it's spendy. Staff isn't super helpful...wouldn't refund us quarters that we lost on games that didn't work! That was my only complaint...and when we said it didn't work, they didn't put a sign on it or anything. Maybe w
10/10 would go again. They have SO many awesome games to play. It has the feel of an old school mall arcade, aka DDR at the front of the shop. Everyone one that works here is nice and helpful as well. Good drink choices, I haven't tried the food but it sounds good as well!
Absolutely horrible service today. Was literally first table in tonight, time stamped receipt of 5:01pm. At 5:25pm a table that got there 15 mins after us got their food which I could see was what I ordered. Asked bartender if I still had food coming, he flippantly said yes..10 minutes later someone who came in to get food to go got their order. Pointed out to bartender we had LITERALLY been their first. Finally, 5 mins later he just blamed kitched and said I dont know why they sent them out of order? If t
Nice place, plenty of games to play. Good mix of newer and classic arcade games. If you are looking for pinball though, there are no tables here. If you are interested in drinking, 4 beers on tap and a bottle selection too.
Great barcade. Wonderful machine selection with a nice variation of machines and types. I was happy to see it wasn't dominated by pinball tables, sorry not my thing. The Queen Bee draft hit the spot for me. Don't miss out on a great experience and some great arcade cabinets.
Far superior to the bonus round in Sioux Falls. Much larger in comparison. Could use a few more tap beers since they don't have a liquor license, but the main attraction - the games - are very fun.
This is one of my favorite places of all time, it has things for all ages. However, it does specialize in those over 21. The best little arcade in all the Sioux Falls and the surrounding area
Cool place, the owner and his wife run it. Beer only--but not a problem for me. It's the owners personal collection of coin operated arcade games. Lot of classics Mario, Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, Off-Road, etc. Definitely recommend checking it out for yourself.
The games are only 25 cents. Tons of great games. I challenge everyone to beat my Dig Dug score . . .
This place is awesome!! Brought me back to my childhood! Classic arcade games, heat selection of beers on tap, local and domestic. They have food too!!
This is exactly what Sioux Falls needed: A Barcade. This isn't just any barcade either - you have a owner who truly cares and values about not only the customers but also about the games in his establishment. This is a great place to make friends, make memories, and have a blast!
An awesome arcade bar unlike any other I've seen, with a huge variety of games for casual + hardcore players alike. The owner is very passionate about what he does and it shows. The classics are well represented (PacMan, Ghosts n Goblins, Off-Road, etc) along with a huge variety of rare newer stuff you won't see anywhere else. Good selection of puzzle, fighting, sports, shooters, racing, pinball, shmups, beat-em-ups, and games get changed out frequently enough that there's always something new to play (even
They had a lot of great games that I've played throughout my life. They're all very well priced. They also have snacks and soda, as well as a nice selection of domestic and import beer on tap and in cans or bottles. If you're looking for a great night out, go to EightyOne Arcade Bar.
I went into the lobby to wait for my lyft and they called the police. If you are not actively spending money there, you are not welcome. NEW The owner just threatened to press harrassment charges for telling all of you (an him) about this. They pretend to like their customer. Just wait until you disagree. Customer service WILL be police service. Give us money or go to jail.
Great place! Arcade games from the 80's 90's and Beyond. Great atmosphere for just having a beer. Great music playing. The bathrooms are nice and clean. Wish I would have found this place earlier.
A great mix of classics, Japanese titles, and some suprisingly new games. Decent beers and a delightful experience. Bring bills or quarters as it is totally worth an arcade junkie's time.
The staff is cool and the arcade games are tons of fun. They have a large selection of new and retro games from racing, and fighting, to rythem and retro games. Love coming with friends to hangout and play games.
We always drive a bit just to treat ourselves to this fabulousness. The games are great (Tekken, Super Monkey Ball, Pop?n Music, and Space Invaders are some of our favorites), and the music and atmosphere never disappoint. So good.
Fun for about an hour. We like coming here and we like the location, but a lot of the games are the same. No mixed drinks! Food is good though??
Great place. Make sure to bring quarters. They do have a quater machine though.
The eightyone arcade bar is a great bar to go to if you like Nostalgia and classic games. They have a wide variety of any game you like to play. But sadly they only serve beer and wine no hard liquor
The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great assortment of arcade games and I'm sure with more support it will grow nicely. I definitely recommend this place for a fun night out
All the video games that we grew up playing and even some new ones that we had never heard of before. Everyone found a game that they loved and probably spent more money than they care to say. All in all, a great place to hangout and just be a kid again
Awesome barcade with a good selection of retro video games as well as what looked like a thriving community
Fun place to spend a couple hours. Kids 13+ allowed earlier in the day. Wish they had a larger selection of NA beverages.
This place is great! The atmosphere is just right, they have a good selection of games, great drink selection, and delicious food!
Fun spot to spend a couple hours or the whole night. Clean, and games are in good shape. After your first visit you will definitely want to go back.
Oh yeah. They got DK, Dig Dug, Galiga, Asteroids, Stret Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tempest, you name it. They also have newer games hooked up to screens and some kickass root beer. The best part about all the games available is that they are all 1 quarter! Strongly recommend visiting.
A favorite in Sioux Falls. Great prices on drinks and lots of classic and more modern arcade and pinball machines. A great time for 20 bucks
I've never walked into an arcade and gotten goosebumps before coming here. This place fulfills all my expectations and then some. Hopefully they can open another one in Sioux Falls.
So many games! The games are all in great condition, you can tell the owners take pride in their bar. Would highly recommend this place.
Killer place with unbelievably well maintained classic arcade games. It's clear the owner truly loves arcade culture and has put together an amazing place to relax and remember a much simpler time.
Great place! Was there almost three hours and only spent $10. Looked like they had a nice craft beer selection too.
Good selection of games. Very clean and staff/bartenders are super friendly. Will be visiting again!
Definitely a popular place on a Saturday night! Good selection of games, yummy food & drink. I only wish they had the actual DDR machine!!
Great selection of arcade games! If you guys were in Sioux Falls, you'd own the city. Worth the drive completely.
Nice place, really nice selection of games! Don't waste your time going to the "barcade" in Sioux falls. Worth the drive to here!
The games are super cool and fun, and it's an amazing atmosphere. Definitely worth a few hours of your time!
Casual bar with lots of games that are all $.25 to play. The only reason for 4 stars is could have had a better variety of drinks and games, but still a neat place to go.
It was a fun place to play a few old classics and play a few new ones.
Great game and beer selection. The owners are very nice and accommodating. My favorite bar/arcade!
Nate served me a Jack Daniels cola and his customer service was divine. Excellent experience, definitely check this place out.
Absolutely breathtaking. Arcade machines line every wall and there's so many wonderful options. I had a fantastic time there and I'm looking forward to going again!
Super cool spot right in little old Harrisburg! A nice small selection of micro brews and an AWESOME selection of old school and new school arcade games. Everyone check this place out!
Great place to play some old school arcade games. Great food. Great beer choices. Will def be back :)
Awesome place! Great game selection and a super nice Tekken set up too. Will definitely be returning. ?? ?? ??
It's the first time I've been there and the games were extremely fun and the only thing I hated was that I lost a game to my aunt Kristi other than that I would highly recommend this fun place
Super fun date night! Lots of older gaming machines to pick from and of course pinball. Awesome local beers too
Nice vibe, decent game selection. Awesome craft beers on tap. Love the location!
My video game days were the early 80s and this place has a ton of 80s games 8n very good condition. I've been her 3 times and have a blast on $5 in quarters.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Yes, rhythm games in arcades are a vibrant hit in 2025! Titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania deliver high-energy fun, blending music, movement, and precision. Modern machines boast vivid displays, booming sound systems, and diverse song libraries, from J-pop to EDM. They challenge reflexes and rhythm, with competitive leaderboards and tournaments fostering a lively community. Arcade dance floors are regularly packed, proving rhythm games’ immersive, physical thrill keeps them a standout in today’s gaming scene.
