Eaton Theatre

Our family loves this local theater. It is a superior experience compared to the big chain theaters in the region. The popcorn is fantastic, and the retro arcade is a wonderful bonus! Great staff and owners as well, as they collaborate within the community for many promotions. There are even themed characters, meet and greets occasionally with children's movies. Visiting Eaton Theater is a treat for the whole family!

I love this theater very much! The service is great and everyone is very friendly. I often swing in to pick up some popcorn to go, too! It was fun seeing the Oriole Bird there one time, as well as attending the Halloween event downtown! Fun place to go with family and friends!

The owner here is very friendly. We arrived tonight at about 4:35 for the 6 pm show of Lilo and Stitch. I knew they didn't open until 5pm but figured there would be a line. The owner was once again very nice. She opened the doors a few minutes early so that my granddaughter and I could come inside.

Locally owned and operated by really great people very dedicated to keeping this place alive. They recently remodeled with the help of the community and it really has paid off! This is a hard review to write. First, favorite theater of all time. Second, I have not been for a little while as we are out of state, but afraid it is lost some of its total uniqueness. Bathroom with two toilets next to each other and no separation - have to ask the person on other toilet to share the tp. Floors that your shoes would stick to. Love going here. Staff and the owner are amazing and they take great pride in what they do. The decor is awesome and the arcade is fun to kill time while waiting...who doesn't love dig dug. I prefer to support a local theater where I feel welcomed at instead of the giant chain where I'm just another person. If you want that old school feel you need to visit this place.

I've been going to the Eaton Theater for about 30 years. They have really reasonable ticket prices and concession prices. They recently remodeled the interior area and they have some of the most comfortable seating in any theater, they even have foot rest stools that you can take to your seat so you can rest your feet on. Their Staff are really friendly and a pure pleasure to be around. The Eaton Theater shows some of the best First Run Movies, and they have two theaters in the building.

The remodeling was top rate! The theatre still has that old feel, complete with ticket taker booth, but shows quality films. The game room takes me back to being an 80?s kid. Love this place!

Update 3/16/23 : I love this place even more. They've done a lot of work and it shows. Seats are lovely and everyone is always so nice. This is the only theater I'll go to. You walk into the downstairs room, and it's still the old theatre. So beautiful. Another review has said that seats are uncomfortable, they are. The sound isn't the best, but for the quaintness of this theater AND the price, we're super excited to see more movies more often here. :-)

My first time going here was with my child for Sonic 2 and it was a busy Saturday but all the staff were patient and polite. The place was clean. Seats are comfortable. The arcade could use some work so it's a little less disappointing for my child but that's not a deal breaker for me. I enjoyed the theater experience very much.

Small but good! Has that hometown feel. Great ticket prices. They updated their game rooms and have a decent variety of snacks at concessions - my only sad point is that we can't buy posters there anymore. Love the looks inside the theatre - makes just being in there feels like you're the one in a movie!

We love the small theater experience. Great prices. Good family experience. The sound system isn't anything special, but really I only wish the seats where more comfy and better spaced. I couldn't even cross my legs it's so tight in front of me. I would give them 5 stars if the seating was better.

The movie theater is very old and they are working on upgrading it over time. It has a lot of history and their prices are very cheap. I like the prices a lot. It has been 4 years since my original post. The owner has gone above and beyond to upgrade the theater and is nearing the end of renovation. They have been working on new seats and have done a ton of upgrades. It looks amazing and has great prices compared to most movie theaters. Would always recommend this theater.

Awesome remodel job seats are great. Haven't gone there in my lifetime with the place in that good of shape. Only con was when a taller guy sat in front of me had to move cause there isn't much of slope to view over people.

I love supporting our local theater. It's a small town feel which is great. Service is friendly and welcoming. The lighting in balcony needs to be brighter before and after movie. Stairwell is too dark for safety reasons. The seating is tight. I know owners are trying hard to improve things but that takes money......so go and see a movie ??

Went to go see Top Gun Mavrick. Awesome movie. Prices on tickets and concessions were great. Love how they did the remodel to the theater. Absolutely had a blast. Will be back again and recommending to others. Also the staff there was on top of things. Fantastic job guys

This is an older quaint theater. It is well kept, and the prices are great. I seldom go to any other theater. This one gives you more of that homey feeling, and you don't have the big crowds to fight with.

This theatre has a lot of history. Definitely not as comfortable as a modern theatre like celebrations. However, the prices are cheap and you get that homey old town feeling when you walk in. The downside is that the floors can be sticky and the seats don't give you very much left room. The bathrooms are also a little less than modern. So avoid this place if you have OCD on cleanliness.

Many new updates! This theater is really improving and trying to make it a great experience for all who visit. People have to understand this theater was built in 1931 so upgrades can be restricted and take money. The new owners are doing amazing job upgrading as much as they can. The Eaton Theatre now has a Virtual reality gaming room and retro Arcade room. They have expanded their hours from 1 show to 2 shows for weekdays and 3 shows Saturday and Sunday. We love visiting the Eaton Theatre! I've been going since I was a little girl. There is a new owner, LeAnn, and she is so passionate about the preservation of this charming theatre. We've been going mostly for popcorn and snacks, all through covid (and beyond). Great place to go with your family! Our boys love the virtual reality room, and the retro arcade games. Fun times to be had!

A great value and Not too overly busy on openings of movies. The seats are comfortable. The leg room is less than desired. Limited drink choices. But the prices are so much better. However no refills.

Love the FREE movies in the summer but the popcorn shouldn't be so much there are low-income family going and can't afford high prices. Keep them going even threw the whole year on weekends to keep kids and teen out of trouble have a Halloween movie and some best dressed custom or prize for all like candy or a free bag of popcorn and should have holiday movies and a visit from the most favorite person in the whole world Santa free bag of popcorn and candy can. Small town charm and big budget movies for budget prices. This theater only has two screens but they make use of both of them with updated digital technology and classic theater seating. Now they also have a classic arcade and vr to experience before your film. Very affordable, with new updates seats. I am not sure if it has been the movie or the theater but the movies have been very dark to the point where you can't see what is actually happening. This was the case with Morbius (very dark anyway) and Thor Love and Thunder where they fight in the village.

A really nice little small town theater

Friendly staff and adorable decor can't save the fact that the seats are outdated and uncomfortable. My daughter said her popcorn was burnt so she didn't eat it. I ate mine... until I got to the burnt popcorn. Needs updates if they ever decide to modernize.

This theatre needs so many updates. They have a digital player, which is great, but it's one of the only good things about the theatre itself. The seats are very old and way too close together. I'm 5'6" and can't sit in their seats without my knees digging into the chair in front of me. They also have a lot of seats worn down so far the springs poke you as you try to watch the movie. The bathrooms (ladies room, at least) is laughable. It has a space issue, as well. I hope you like peeing with a curtain on

If you're looking for a theater that has 1st run movies that won't break your bank you need to check them out. Keep in mind they are a historic theater so many of the creature comforts that you get from the big box theaters are not here. But they are hard at work to make those changes. A bargain for Hollywood entertainment with a small town feel. The concessions are very reasonable and their popcorn is delicious. The new arcade and VR gaming are nice additions. The only thing that prevents that final star are the very uncomfortable restrooms and the seating. Seating is old and very close set so it kills my knees if I can't get in a spot where the seats in front are gone. It would be nice to see the seats respaced for a bit more leg room.

Great place to watch a movie, there are only two theaters so therefore, only two movies are shown at a time. Really inexpensive only $5 for a ticket and the food prices can not be beaten! However if you are bathroom shy I would use the bathroom somewhere else before the movie since they only have curtains instead of doors.

Small town and nostalgic feeling. Seating and men's bathroom *side by side toilets* need updating, but all in all, for what you pay, it's cheaper and more convenient than driving into Lansing to watch the same film. My family and I regularly go, not much to complain about. Friendly staff.

The place have reasonble priced tickets and you can tell over the years that the owner really cares about the place by putting profits back into fixing place up and adding new things and making it more up to date. Also the employees are really nice and keep the place well clean after each show.

Good prices and progressive improvements make for a good experience. The bathrooms are the only concern. They are very small and in desperate need of updating. I would guess that they are somewhere on the list of future improvements. Overall, it is a decent, family-friendly experience.

Not many small and cozy theatres like this one are around, anymore. Reminds me of the old Cotton Wood theatre where i grew up at. Reasonable prices from the concession stand. With kid options for pop corn and drinks. Parking is a bit of an issue at times as you have to park on the street or find a parking lot close by, then do a little walking. Doesn't bother me much personally; when there isn't 5 feet of snow, but everyone's different.

A beautifully restored small town historic movie theater. Daily 1st run showings on 2 digital screens. Very reasonably priced. The theater is also available for rentals during times movies are not showing. A great place for a birthday or anniversary party!

Just watched Top Gun: Maverick. The new seats and fully equipped arcade that's better than any I've ever been to with classic games make this theater a must visit. Amazing ticket prices too!

They old fashion style theater is neat, but thats all you'll get here. It needs so many updates: seats are crammed together, your knees hit the seat in front of you (the upstairs 1 is even worse, like watching a movie on a pull down screen at the library). The last 3 times we've been here I've had to leave my coat, hat, scarf and gloves on and was still cold, it's like they turn the heat on just enough to keep the pipes from freezing. The Eaton theatre is a nice place to go for cheap, only 5 dollars and walk in. I went here with my friend and we were the only ones in the theatre till about 20 minutes in and one other group walked in but other than that it was very not busy. They have raised their prices. They have added new snack items. They have handicapped seating however it is very difficult to navigate through the lobby with my wheel chair because they now have a roped lobby making it hard for me to get through and to get snacks. The floors needed lots of attention.

A real deal when it comes to the price of one ticket (date night with concessions is cheaper than one ticket at a big theater) if you don't mind the theater being a little run-down. However, this place is a nightmare for anyone above 6' tall. There might actually be more leg room on an airplane.

The Eaton Theatre has finally come back from the brink! With a full arcade full of great games for kids, a virtual reality room, and a huge selection of snacks and movies, there isn't a better spot for seeing movies. I'm so happy I have a great movie theatre to bring my kids to!

Old school theater may not have the bells and whistles of the IMAX, but the classic look is great, I love the architecture inside and the price is right! Place hasn't changed much since I was a kid.

I'll go here over any other theater. I'm getting sick of big movie theaters shutting down home town theaters. This place has two screens, but always plays the top box movies. Top screen is quite a bit smaller, usually it's the older of the two movies playing up there. Bottom screen is about normal sized, but the theater arrangement makes me feel like I'm in an old fashioned stage theater. Many seats downstairs :)

When a movie has sketchy reviews and I don't want to have to pay a ton to see it, I take a drive to the Eaton Theater. I can take my 3 kids and get them snacks and only spend $20. The staff are cool folks. The seats may not be the nicest, but I like the nostalgia.

Horrible seating, bring padding if you want to sit during an entire movie. If you get upstairs viewing I would suggest not going seating upstairs is even more uncomfortable then down stairs. This place needs a major update and I think it would do a lot better.

Affordable (both movie tickets and snacks), nice staff (although sometimes a bit hurried), the bottom screen isn't the cleanest but you don't notice during the movie. Upper theater is smaller but not too bad. Great alternative to more expensive theaters.

Well prices are great! But they showed newspaper ads for a good 5 minutes and that really irritated me. But besides that, The show quality was good and the sound was as good as an IMAX Theatre. All together the place was exceptional.

We went to their free movie event, and glad it was free cause they charge an arm and a leg for snacks and sodas! The chairs are ancient and super uncomfortable, and sure not designed for a plus size bum. Very little leg room, and not all seats had cup holders, so you're forced to hold your drink through the movie, leaving no free hands for any snacks you were just over charged for. Best small town theater. The upgrades are great and the tickets are still affordable. We plan to visit many more times.

This is an awesome theatre in a small town. Every movie is just $5.00 and the concession prices are super reasonable. You can watch all of the new release movies for a fraction of the cost.

Not clean at all! Smells just like you would imagine a theater in Eaton county to smell. Very bad. They do free kids movies every week but I am afraid of getting sick by sitting in there.

The Eaton Theatre is an iconic place for me. I've experienced many premiers there. The ambience as changed little since my first memory of the movie going experince as a child. From the creeks of the floor to the smell of thier popcorn, the sheetmetal ceilings and old hardwood hand rails.
