5 Stars ? Perfect Date Night Spot with Great Drinks, Food & Games!?????????? We came to Double Tap for a date night full of food, drinks, and games?and it absolutely delivered. We had so much fun and left already talking about when we'll be back. The drinks were spot-on every time?balanced, flavorful, and consistent. Not overly sweet or heavy-handed with the alcohol -A great drink isn't about dumping half a bottle in; it's about craft, and they nailed it. It's clear the bartenders here know what they're do

Great vibes and a ton of fun. Mix of classic and new games, and the presence of multiplayer games is nice. Games are priced reasonably, and the space is cozy but not suffocating. Food is pretty good, but drinks are just okay. Very sugary and not a alot of booze, but they're cheap.

Not a great pinball place. It's one of those arcades that makes you buy a card. $24 for 700 credits (after tax and new card fee). 55 credits per game of pinball. No 3 credits for $2 like most places. Comes out to 12 games pf pinball for $24. What a rip-off. Staff was good

They went from a coin system to play the arcade games to an annoying card tap system to play games. My group had a whole cup full of coins that they wouldn't convert into taps. Also prices for drinks at the bar aren't shown very well

This place was awesome fun! The workers were really nice and helpful. Lots of old and new games, Skee ball and pinball games. Most game's cost 50 cents. Good selection of beer on tap. Also got a pizza and it was good for bar food. On Sunday's from noon -8pm you can bring your kid's for family day. My children had a great time. We will be returning.

We went for a birthday celebration, and the food was inedible. The crab Rangoon pizza was not how it used to be, nad was drenched in a spicy sauce that has no business being with a crab rangoon pizza. We also had to wait over an hour on our pizza, so it was a huge let down. Worst experience I have had.

Absolutely worth your time if you're hitting the town on a night out. It's such a neon, baby-Vegas vibe, and a real cherry on top if you've never been to a barcade. If you have been to one before, it's still a great time, but manage your expectations. On one hand, it always blows my mind that these places in college towns have as many arcade machines still functioning with all the flowing booze. Very, very disappointed. First: no more tokens. They've switched all the games over to exclusively use plastic credit card things. Honestly, this is a major vibe killer. However, it could be acceptable if the terminal you use to get one explained the system better. There were a bunch of numbers around the screen, but I didn't know what they meant and I wasn't sure how many "taps" (play credits) I'd be receiving. Lots of fun. A bunch of legendary classic arcade games, great service and lots of drinks. What else could you ask for? I had a great time here and will definitely return and recommend it. Game on!

This is a neat spot! The atmosphere is cool, and there's quite a few games to play! The drinks were good, I'd recommend the health potion or the mana potion, both super yummy! Bring a group of friends and play all sorts of games. My personal favorite is skee ball! The staff was nice and I would definitely go again!

Nice vibe, but do not order food. The Burger was the worst I've had and sweet potato fries were burnt to a crisp. Beers are over priced and you only get a 12 ounce pour. Don't jiggle the pinball machines as the tilts are set at a ridiculously low tolerance. I'd love to see this place survive and improve on pricing and food quality.

Games are fine. Real attraction is the very, very handsome bartender from Ottumwa.

The atmosphere here is great! Old school games in a modern bar. Food is a bit on the slower side (they use the kitchen of an adjacent restaurant) but service is friendly and fast. Decent beer selection and lots of games and pinball.

Buried beneath aging walls, the lords of pinball call my name. Like a child eager for Christmas, I waited with little patiences for Double Tap to open. Then one mundane day I walked by and saw the lights were on and door open. So skipping merrily, damn near tripping down the stairs, I wandered down to the den of digital splendor. The atmosphere of this bar is great and so are the people. I've always had excellent service here and a ton of fun. Specifically, Grace Harris (bartender), always has the most upbeat and professional attitude when at work and dealing with customers. All around, a great experience and I highly recommend!

Big kids arcade.. pinball machines, lots of old school video arcade games. Big bar in the middle with lots of good choices for beer and mixed drinks. There is a food menu but didn't try the food. The games use tokens so be prepared to exchange cash for tokens in a machine. I didn't see an ATM machine in the establishment. Great atmosphere. When we where there alot of families where enjoying games. Also had skeetball!

Half the games straight up don't work and just take your money. They also raised the amount of coins each game costs since I went here last (few weeks ago). I was excited to see they put in a DDR machine (knock off brand but whatever). To my shock and horror I couldn't hear the machine over the awful music they're playing. Came into this arcade, which is sweet because it was an awesome throwback. We ordered two pizzas and some nachos and it was great Bryan our bartender was incredible and I really really liked the drinks they have there.

I really enjoyed my experience here in Tap Tap, in Iowa City. I was especially delighted with my server/bartender Grace. Not only was she polite but was on top of everything! She created an amazing and welcoming atmosphere that i?ll definitely find myself coming to again. When ordering the Nachos, she made sure the order came out on time and I was pleased with how quick it came out (and delicious!). Thanks Grace!

Great hidden arcade in downtown Iowa City. Got Mario Kart two player, 4 player PAC Man, Guitar Hero, ski ball, a few pin ball machines, and pong to name a few. Claim they have food but the last few times I've been they don't have their kitchen open. Games are reasonably priced. Young children are only allowed on Sundays on family day.

It has an amazing atmosphere!!! I love playing their multiplayer Pac-Man game and skee ball. The staff was super friendly and made really good drinks. Especially the bartender that made my drinks, Virginia, I personally had the enderdragon and had a wonderful experience.

Stopped in today to play some pinball. The machines are in very poor condition don't look like they havent been maintained in quite some time. Playfields were very dirty and many bad switches. Whomever cleaned the bar Saturday night or Sunday morning must have used a dirty bar rag to wipe the glass because they almost look like they were frosted glass and were sticky and nasty. Super cool place with good working machines. Whenever there is an issue with a game, they are quick to help you out with a positive attitude. The drinks are a little pricey, but that is to be expected. The food is good and fairly priced. The bathroom cleanliness is hit or miss depending on who is working and how busy they are.

Great atmosphere, just don't breath on the pinball machines. The tilt bobs are extremely sensitive. Nudging is pretty much out of the question with the exception of Deadpool. Oh well, gotta keep the drunk college kids from abusing them. I get it.

This place is so cool and such a vibe. They amount of arcade games they have is crazy. Im a huge fan of guitar hero which im terrible at and pac man where i am the champion! Ian is there almost every time i go in and he is always so friendly! and makes some great drinks! Im one of those girls that just orders something fruity - annoy i know - but he does such a great job coming up with tasty concoctions.

It's a small bar/arcade (beercade), but it's a super cozy and fun environment. Perfect spot for a fun night with friends in a college town. It was my first time going there with friends and we had a great time. I got to play lots of games that I hadn't played since I was kid like Ms. Pac man and the old super Mario. The cocktails were really good and I highly recommend the crab rangoon pizza. If you crab rangoon, you will love that pizza ?? Prices were decent. Will definitely come again.

Fun adult arcade with lots of games to play. Mixed drinks are very tasty! Removed 1 star because we ordered a pizza but never received it due to some issues in the kitchen, but overall a fun place!

went saturday evening for the first time expecting it to be busy, definitely a good amount of people inside but the games are spaced out evenly enough and they don't have all of the super popular games in one spot so it didn't feel crowded whatsoever. the bartenders working were awesome, suggested great drinks and had multiple redbull options for my vodka rb. drinks were fairly priced, and most games being only 50 cents really sold us. we will be back!

I love double tap. Got the Pac Man and would recommend that to anyone who doesn't like fizzy drinks. Played a few games and McKynlee really took care of my experience and made my visit great

This was a really cool spot to play old and new arcade games. The drinks were fun and inventive playing off of video games with names like ?health potion?. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because the games are expensive and add up quickly. For a college town, would?ve loved to see lower prices to have fun here.

Virginia, Bryan, and Ian are fantastic! We came for happy hour after work and had a great time. Atmosphere, music, and Mario Kart are the best! We will be back!

I think it is very unfair that they ID people just to play games. I know you serve alcoholic beverages but me and my friends are here to play games not to drink booze. Me and my friends had a bad experience because of poor customer service and policies from this business. I like the games they have here but not the way they treat those who want to play real arcade games. 5 Stars for game selection 1 Star for customer service.

One of my favorite IC places to go. The games bring me back to my college days. Last time I was there, Virginia made me a Peach Beach - I highly recommend!

I ducked in briefly on a hot afternoon to beat the heat for a little bit while waiting for something else to start. Two people bought two drinks and $10 worth of tokens for less than $20. The tokens easily would have lasted us an hour if we didn't have to go earlier. Now I have those tokens rattling around in my car reminding me I have to return. Looking forward to my next visit!

Great atmosphere and game selection! Drinks were somewhat reasonably priced, the games were a little expensive. Games include older arcade classics (Frogger, Pong, Dr. Mario, Pac Man), newer games (Mario Kart, indie games), and physical games like Skee Ball and Pinball!

From the bar experiences I've had so far, definitely one of my favorites. Friendly and down to earth Bartenders, a great retro environment that is made even better with friends. Would highly recommend if your downtown. 10/10 great experience.

Visited during Jazz Fest, the place was sparsely populated, but I imagine they get busy on Friday and Saturday nights. 21+, but all-ages for family day on Sundays from noon-8. The atmosphere is clean and modern, as you'd expect from a newly renovated building, and the layout only partially constrains movement and personal space, depending on occupancy. Hollister fire hazard it is not, but it's still a basement arcade, so don't expect Double Tap to compete with Spare Time's vertiginous 52,000 square foot ven

Nice space, drinks are are reasonably priced. Varied selection of games in good condition. I also give them props, I opened a tab and a drink I did not order was added to it. Called the next day and they refunded, no issue.

I love the crab Rangoonpizza with ghost pepper cheese, and Tuesday is half price pizza. The staff is so friendly no matter who is working, I love the games, can't be beat for atmosphere.

Some games change weekly to keep it fresh. However, some games cost more than they should, like 75 cents for pinball instead of the standard 50 cents.

The coolest bar in Iowa City! You never see ?Barcades? like this anymore. And it being located in a basement gives it a unique speakeasy feel.
