Fun place to visit and bring the kids for games. I had fun trying many of the beers on tap. They have a wide selection! The bartenders are great. Brooke and Randee really know how to mix a great cocktail! Will be going back soon!
Stopped in to play some pinball and have a drink. Good news: most machines were on free play, and they had Buffalo Trace reasonably priced (one of my favorite Bourbons). Bad news: most of the free play machines were broken or extremely dirty in one way or another. I'd definitely come back again the play and drink, but would go somewhere else if I wanted to play on some better machines.
Had such a fun time here. Love the games made my weekend.
A very interesting place. The arcade games are fully accessible without payment, except the requirement of a drink purchase. The pinball machines are different though and do require payment. And there are good cabinets to, from Pax-Man to MK4 and Tekken 3. There are some good games here.
Very nice place! Bar had large variety on tap and the bartender was very polite. Wide selection of games and pinball machines. Pinball costs $0.50 at the minimum to play, but being to play all the other machines after getting a single beer is well worth it. All machines seemed in good working order!
Used to be our favorite spot for a Friday/Saturday night. Way too many kids allowed here after 8 pm, and the music is SO loud; probably in an effort to clear out kids but the kids don't care. 11 pm at night and it looks like a elementary school bus got dropped off. Feels weird to have kids in what is normally an adult space. Skiball machine has been broken for awhile which is a bummer :( just disappointing !
I always have a great time at DK Effect. Skeeball is usually an easy go to and with such a wide variety of games there is something for everyone. I had not be in for a while and noticed a large amount of new pinball machines which is always a good time. They now have food as well too.
Great drinks, didn't play any games as I was catching a bus but there's a good variety of arcade cabinets and there's mega JENGA, ping pong and even skii ball!!
This place was really fun! The drinks were delicious and you are able to order delivery from the pizza place next door. The gimmick of this bar is the vast array of old arcade games and pinball machines. (Most are free but i think the pinball machines were pay-to-play.) They even have ski-ball! I had a lot of fun, and was pretty much glued to pac-man the whole time i was here. The bartender was really nice and the restroom was clean.
Overall it was a fun experience.During the day it was a little under staffed. The three dollar slices of pizza we're bigger than most personal pizzas. A lot of retro arcade games that are free to play as long as you want as long as you get a drink. I only wish they had the old X-Men and TMNT beat em up arcade games.
Like the beer selection here. And the free arcade games. Pinball costs money it seems. Great to go back in time here to the days of arcade games.
40 beers on tap. 40! Excellent selection! Bar tender was great. I love the themed mixed drinks. You can control the juke box from your phone and unlimited free gameplay if you buy a drink. Definitely my new favorite place. Parking is on the right side of the building. You can order food from the pizza place next door (the mac n cheese is AMAZING!)
One of the top video game bars in Dayton, especially now that they switched their games to free to play! Except of course for the pinball and skeet ball machines. But with an impressive beer selection and a pizza shop that delivers to the bar and with friendly, helpful staff this place is definitely among my recommendations. It is just about 3 blocks from downtown, but much like everything else in Dayton it still is quite close to the rest of the bars. The only improvement would be to be in downtown, but ov
21 and up after 8:00??? NOT on the website and NOT posted on the doors. If you're gonna run a business, do better. Seriously. It's not that hard. I don't think we missed much anyway from the look of the place.
The atmosphere was casual and low key. Drinks were ok. Beer selection was good. Tokens were given with each drink (10 to 12). I personally loved it. Playing games and drinking. Some of the games were not working. Vast majority were in good shape.
My childhood arcade games are here. The old school arcade games are free to play. There is a massive selection of drinks to choose from.
Great craft beers. Decent selection of video games. Not quite enough places to put your drink and keep an eye on it while playing. I wish the pinball games were also set to free play.
Will place with a killer beer selection. Arcades on free play & a good selection of pinball machines at a reasonable price. Good pizza joint next door too.
Very fun date night here! We played lots of games and the drinks are fantastic and a huge tap selection as well! Definitely will be back !
Our family had a BLAST at this awesome hang out! So much fun & the fact that Gionino?s brings their yummy pizza right to your table is SO amazing! Will be back & thanks for such an amazing arcade for the kids to have safe fun! ?????????
Multiple bears on tap. Menu was very well put together with clear pricing. The games are fun and all we played worked well. Inexpensive way to kill time. Bartender was very friendly and informative. I was able to sample a couple beers. Kid friendly until 8PM. Will definitely visit again when we are in town. Thank you!
This place is great. There's tons of classic arcade games, and pinball as well. The environment is very friendly and low-key. There are many ciders and beers on tap, as well as shots and delicious, original and geeky themed cocktails. Several games are free to play, but you get tokens for every drink you buy. You can also buy tokens without imbibing. Drop in and drop some tokens for a high score and some highly delicious beverages!
Free play and good vibes Machines are just older so not all work exquisitely but hey you can't beat free fun and it's well run
This place was great. We got to play some awesome classic arcade machines that brought back memories all while enjoying great drinks. The mural on the building was awesome.
It was definitely a good experience, drinks were good and had fun playing games. Wish they could have had a couple of newer games, but the place was cool. Loved the vibe had fun for a few hours, I would say it was pretty cool.
If you like old arcade games and laid back arcade atmosphere. This is the place, all arcade games free play including skiball ??With exception of the wall of pinball machines. ??great place to meet up and show down. Had a great time with friends friendly staff and great drinks as well
Older vintage arcade games from the 80s and 90s. Ton of fun, most of them free. Plenty of beers on tap. Not a bad place to hang out for a hot afternoon. Coming back soon.
A great spot to replay the classic arcade games of the 80s like pacman, ms pacman, asteroids, galaga, the simpsons, star wars atari, spy hunter, pinball, digdug, centipede, donkey kong and donkey kong jr (beat my hugh score of 33,300!) along with some shooter games and 2 skeeball lanes. Staff is friendly. Beers are delicious and include game tokens. Most arcade games cost a single token, thank you! Mexican and Pizza joints nearby and they deliver. I ordered a turkey grinder with cheesebread for $9. Yu
So about 2 yeas ago I left a one star review here and unfortunately I can't change it. So to begin this place is awesome. They have cabinets I've never seen anywhere else. Drink prices are good and everything is on free play. Most importantly my last review talked about a blond bar tender and my negative interactions with said employee. I was NOT talking about Randi! After 21 years in and out of the bars around Dayton I can comfortably say Randi is the hardest working and most pleasant representation of a
Most affordable arcade around!!!!! Large open space concept. A lot of the old school classic games, even skeeball! Def non comparable to a Dave & Busters, but great for a balling on a budget birthday party. Bartender was cool, bar had a few specialty cocktails. Also had a decent fenced in patio out front for seating, eating, smoking, or drinking.
Bartender was nice. Great collection of vintage games that are free to play.
I really enjoyed this bar as a arcade collector most of the machines were in good condition and playable all of the video games were free. They also had a large selection of beer
Wide selection of pinball tables, most for 75 cents. Wider selection of classic arcade cabinets, free with purchase of a drink. Good value for how much fun we had!
This place is so much fun! I love playing Super Mario & Dig Dug. Princess Peach is my favorite drink. Great place to go on a date or with friends.
The staff were super nice! The cocktails and shots were pretty well mixed and tasty and gave me a pretty good buzz. A decent amount of arcade games. Low key too many pinball games but that may be because I'm not super interested in those. Otherwise a really good experience! Will definitely be back.
Such a fun atmosphere, love pinball, arcade games, great drinks, friendly staff. When you come across one of your fav games from forever ago...Frogger, makes you a little happy ??
This is the best place ever. What could be better than free arcade games? That's right, all the games, except for the pinball machines, were free. They even have Mario Kart Arcade GP! Of course it is recommended that you buy a drink so they can stay in business, but still! Plus they have a super cool super Mario mural outside. I will definitely be coming back here! 10/10 for sure. I would definitely recommend House of the Dead and the Mega Man fighting game.
I had an amazing time at DK Effect in Dayton! The atmosphere is electric and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The arcade games are so much fun, bringing back a wave of nostalgia while also providing a unique experience. The bar selection is fantastic, with a wide variety of beers and cocktails to choose from. I especially enjoyed the outdoor patio area, which is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a drink. The pricing is reasonable, and the location is convenient. Overall, I highly recomm
What a great idea. Great selection of drinks (taps) and they had Area 51. All they need is Time Crisis and they'd be perfect. Update:even after a couple of years this place is still fantastic. Took my 4 kids (free game play with a drink) and was able to order pizza from next door and have it delivered. Great place!
Fun times for old school video games and adult beverages.
Wow. The arcade and pinball selection here is great! Friendly staff and a great beer selection as well. You can bring in food from Gionino's next door as well.
In my opinion they need to take better care of their pinball machines. Was there for the first time the other day and noticed a couple of the pinball machines were in poor condition things broken inside of them. Other than that the bartender was great. The beer on tap was delicious. Not a bad place to go and have Beverages and play some video games and pinball.
This place was so fun. Got a Princess Peach drink, totally yummy and got tokens for each drink purchase. Great variety of games.
I was in town visiting the Air Force Museum when I discovered this treasure. Simply stated. This is a fantastic place if you love beer and old video games. This place is great if you love video games or beer. On the beer issue their selections fantastic. I'm pretty thorough beer snob, but they were several days there I never heard of but I'm glad I went there to try them. While the selection of games is modest right now, is mine or standing there expanding soon so that's great. However, the games they do h
I'm never not going to have a good time in an arcade bar but DK Effect is one of the best. Great atmosphere, great beers. I seem to remember there was a popcorn machine there, which was a nice addition. Great fun, and the actual arcade games here work properly and they have a tremendous collection of games. Definitely go if you're in the area. Great for dates too :)
Always a great time! The arcade games are free play and the pinball is 0.75 a game. The staff there is fantastic! Always nice and willing to help you find the perfect drink. They have a rotating tap list that will please any beer lover! Also, they have a full bar and make some really good mixed drinks, especially on holidays with they specialty created cocktails!
After coming here a few times now, here's my own personal opinion: Pros - Fun variety of games both free and pay to play. Drinks are always good, service always friendly and environment very laid back. Cons - A lot of games are broken here almost regularly. And when you pay for a pinball machine that doesn't work right, it hurts even worse than normal. Don't pay for songs to be played on the jukebox, either; for some reason, playing songs through jukebox app is almost so low, you can't even hear the song
This place has the right idea. Retro gaming. Tins of beer on tap. But its just not quite there yet. They are just off the mark for a hipster/niche little joint that could take off. Gaming selection is good, not great. The place kinda smells like a walk in beer cooler. The lighting and music are too low. The games aren't vibrant or loud enough, and there are 4-5 that aren't working right. Its a decent place to go, but I think it will get better with time. Also, parking needs addressed. They do offer parking
One of my favorite places to go for date night, group gatherings, birthdays and more. I can usually be found at the pinball machines and better yet with a drink in hand. Great beer selection, ciders and mixed drinks. I've always had amazing service and a good time. Also if you get hungry, right next door is Gionino's Pizzeria, amazing pizza and they even offer a gluten free cauliflower crust. My favorite pizza place in the area. So gaming, drinks and pizza, that is a winning combo in my books!
Really fun! Great selection of beer with 40 taps. Games are very entertaining. Service was great. You get tokens with every drink purchase. Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday 4-7PM, 50 cents off all pints. Be mindful as some games don't work or will eat your tokens... Overall, it was fun! Will make a return visit.
Fun old school arcade gaming also including a few current pinball games. They have a good selection of craft beer and limited but good selection of liquor and mixed drinks. Bring your own food. Very friendly and responsive staff. Kids are welcome with families. The building is small and seating adequate if a bit limited. It's not fancy but is clean, well maintained. The same for the bathrooms.
Fun retro arcade where most games are free play if you buy a drink.
This was the first time I had been to this location and I was very happy with the experience. The beers on tap were good, and the mixed drinks my friends got were good as well. We got tokens with every drink we ordered (and every shot), so we were set for a while. If you tip your bartender and treat them well you're likely to get a few extra tokens to spend on the games. There was only one person working when we visited and you could tell he wasn't very happy about a certain group, just don't be rude or obn
I had a such a great time bringing my daughter here (9 yo). She had a Root Beer and I had a couple very tasty beers. Everything worked perfectly. Staff was so friendly! We will def be back! Hidden gem.
My wife and I had a fantastic time here! It was fun drinking and playing the arcade games. Much more fun than sitting at a bar. I think they have over 30 craft beers on tap. I will definitely be returning. My only suggestion is to paint the lines in the parking lot.
Nice place! Lots of old school games to play from when I was a kid!
Pizza was AMAZING.. Wonderful assortment of local craft beers. All the old school arcade games you could ever ask for..definitely reccomend
Wonderful place. I came here on Taco Tuesday with the main goal of playing some pinball. The tacos were amazing, the beer list extensive, the staff is exceptionally friendly and the games are in great shape. I'm impressed with how clean and welcoming the whole place is. They also have nailed both the lighting and the game volume. The lighting is warm without being too bright or too dark and the game sound volume is just loud enough to enhance the player experience without being so loud as to suppress conver
Fun place to go! You get a lot of tokens for every drink and the mixed drinks are really good. They have a decent beer selection too. The games are old and a little rough though, but it doesn't make them any less fun.
I had 3 drinks and they were all a drink called "Princess Peach", it was the bomb.com!!!!!! I actually don't like beer and I like sweeter drinks so this was perfect for me.y fiance likes beer and she liked their Milkshake IPA and she doesn't usually drink IPAs. :) It was cool to get to play some arcade games for free too. We will definitely go back soon!!!
Best beer selection in Dayton. Great arcade games, all set to free play. Pinball needs quarters but there's a good selection of machines. Fun new patio. A great place for a party or a casual hang.
This place is great! Great bartender, really good food and all the patrons are nice. Special needs kids no biggie,; they treat them with respect. Inexpensive too. Can't wait for summer for that coolest ping pong table outside made out of some kind of car part. Yeah!!
Generous beer selection; TON of games, and awesome staff. My bestie held her husband's retirement party here tonight, and while the venue itself was absolutely fun, with a veritable smorgasbord of games ... well, as with anything else, if the service ain't there, then the place sucks. Brandon, our bartender, let us in early to set up and went WAY beyond basic service, offering ways to help us make the party a huge success. I don't know if you guys realize it, but I hope you do -- what you have in that young
Nice arcade bar with a decent beer selection. Most of the games work and if you have one or two drinks, you shouldn't have to buy tokens unless you are a hard core gamer. It's the best arcade bar I have been to in Dayton so far.
Favourite bar in Dayton. Love the bartenders, drinks, prices, and games. Forever my central park.
Edited this down from 5 stars. Their pinball is not super reliable, and as those are the games you have to pay for I have higher expectations. Two of the machines ate some quarters which is a bit annoying as they got them back for me, but I'm not stoked that you have to go and stand in line to do so. A handful of games are always out of order and some other games just don't work as well. If you're here for the drinks and free games, great place. Of you're here to crank out $30 worth of pinball is recommende
Highly-recommended by coworkers, and I was very impressed! The games they had were very cool classics, all with wonderfully working controls (no sticky buttons or dead joysticks!) I didn't play any pinball, but those looked in fantastic condition as well. Drinks are very good; the slimer was tasty! Also an extensive beer selection. I got to try a bunch of drinks and play some great games, I will definitely be back!
Fair beer selection. Loud, obscene music playing in the fore, and background. 1/2 the arcade games don't work properly. And the 1/2 that do work, work 1/2 the time. Limited parking. Limited seating. Location is sketchy, at best. Thank goodness for bright lighting. 2 stars for a good idea, very poorly executed. Won't be visiting again anytime soon.
love this place environment is fun and good music
My boyfriend and I stopped in last night to have a drink and play a few games, Brandon the bartender was nothing but amazing!! He made the whole experience fun and enjoyable, plus his drinks were the bomb! Next time I come to visit my boyfriend we will definitely be stopping by on Sundays to see him!
We live close by and come here often. It's a large bar and is good for a crowd of people with many different tastes; there's a game for everyone. The tokens also come with the drinks! Large selection of craft beer, and the bartenders are knowledgeable. If you follow them on Facebook, they hold a lot of events (trivia, tournaments, etc) and try to be quite active in the community. It may seem like an island right now, but that part of 3rd Street is developing quickly and it's a safe neighborhood.
Super awesome place. Great craft beers on tap. Free tokens when you buy a drink, most games are 1 token, there are a couple 2 token games, overall awesome place to grab a drink and play some retro games. Drink prices are very reasonable.
This is such a great concept for a bar, very nostalgic! They have 40 beers on tap that rotate along with a good selection of liquor. You can even order food from the Gionino's pizza next door right from the bar and they will deliver it to you. Kids are welcome but they do make it 21 and over after 8pm. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
Really nice surprise!!! Great arcade games kld and new. Most are free play also!!! The kids loved this place almost as much as we did!!!! We ordred pizza from the Gioninis next door!!!??????definitely some good pie!!! Also did i.mention they have about 80 beers on tap? And after 8pm its adult swim only!!!!
What a one of a kind place! Awesome selection of local drinks for everyone's taste. All kinds of games to play while enjoying your time with friends. Tokens with every beer purchase. Great date location Seriously one of the best bars in Dayton!!!
Awesome little place. They have over 50 beers on tap along with a full bar. 60 or so arcade games that use tokens that are free with the purchase of a drink. If your wanting to play pinball you will need to use actual quarters for that, but ever other game uses the free tokens. Eat before you come. They sometimes have pizza but not always. My only other criticism is that usually there are quite a few broke games. It's clean and the staff is awesome.
We love visiting DK! The brews are tasty and reasonable, the free to play is a mastermind! We love to crack our on some zombies slaying or alien shooting. They have so many classic games and the pin ball wall is fantastic. It's been really great to watch this business flourish in Dayton. Keep up the good work. But maybe keep two staff on hand more often. Seems like it's often being manned solo which causes a bit of a wait. But all the staff are so sweet and friendly it's great.
Went here on a family date with my husband and parents while visiting for Thanksgiving and had a blast. Music was fun, beer selection was awesome, ski ball was rockin', and I loved it so much, I bought one of the tees. We hope to definitely return when we travel again!
This place has a super chill atmosphere, is very clean, and super fun. Plenty of pinball, old school arcade games with a very large craft beer selection including liquor. I'll definitely be spending some time here in the coming weeks.
We went here for the first time when my grandson was visiting. It was a lot of fun. Excellent service - and the pizza from next door was excellent.
FREE PLAY on all but pinball. No more tokens! Great bartenders, and more beers than I can count (especially after a few). It's family friendly in the afternoon, then 21+ after 8pm. check out Q*bert, Centipede, and other classics.
Fun and games. Glad they have my favorite NA beer there.
Took the adult kids out and we all had a blast! The arcade games are classic, but the free play aspect was awesome! Leaving a large portion of the budget for their excellent selection of draft/craft beers. Win, win! The staff really do a great job of handling customers quickly and respectfully! I have to mention the restrooms we're very modern and super clean. There's also outside activities like ping pong on a really Kool old truck bed with colored LEDs under the surface & giant sized Jenga blocks which ca
Great casual place to meet up w friends, for a quick beer or cocktail. The arcade games gives an easy conversation starter for people meeting for the first time, or for old friends. It's a super convenient location, close to downtown Dayton, but off the path just enough to have easy parking and close to friends who live nearby. Plus - across the street from the Taquiera which is delicious, so you can get the best of both worlds!
If you are a fan of classic video games from the 80s and craft beer you will love this place. You get a small condiment cup of tokens with each beer purchase. I think I've finally found my "Cheers" bar. My only criticism is that they need more games and a couple of working pinball machines.
I've been here multiple times before and have always had good enough experiences. But I don't want to come back and support this business again after how rude the blonde female bartender was to us last night. It isn't hard to just simply be polite to your patrons, from the second we walked up to the bar she had a horrible attitude like we were an inconvenience to her. We didn't realize after 8 was 21 and up so she kicked my friend out, which I understood why legally so that wasn't the issue. The issue was
Such a cool idea!!!! All the classic video arcade games we grew up with. With great beer selection. You can order food for carry in from any number of close restaurants. Some deliver right to D3.
Went for a taco night special. Good arcade choices with plenty of classics. Had to cycle through two beer choices before they had one in stock. Arcade tokens are given out with drink purchases. I'd definitely give it another shot with friends who want to do some retro gaming.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
