Dave & Buster's Vernon Hills

Dave & Buster's Vernon Hills

Reviews Summary

Dave & Busters offers a fun, lively atmosphere with a wide variety of arcade games, VR experiences, and sports viewing, appealing to both kids and adults. Food quality is mixed—some praise burgers, fries, and specialty dishes, while others criticize pre-made items, cold food, or overpricing. Service varies greatly: some staff are attentive and friendly, while others are slow, dismissive, or absent. Private rooms for events receive high marks, but crowded times can worsen service. Drinks are hit-or-miss, with some overpriced or poorly made. Broken games occasionally disappoint, but repairs are often underway. Overall, it’s a solid choice for entertainment, though dining and service inconsistencies may detract.

Customer Reviews

We attended on Wednesday after 10pm. Service was slow to order and for questions. The cashier/server didn't seem to know things and constantly asked the mgr or others. My family spent over $250 on food and a 90-minute unlimited play card ($60 ea child x2). It's not worth it...it comes with a meal that is between $10-15 dollars, with a drink. The card doesn't allow the use of any specialized games that double the points. This card only allows the user 1500 points per user. I don't recommend this card.

The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Small portions, heavy pricetags, the table and menus were sticky. ?? Our waitress was honestly the best part about this place. She was pretty attentive but, never smiled. The place was loud and it wasn't even packed full. Personally, I wouldn't eat here again just because of my concerns over cleanliness and the seemingly broken emotions of the staff.

My ratings are based on ONE SERVER/BAR TENDER, Tyson. We recently visited D&B on a Friday night with our 1.5yr old son. We were not greeted when we walked in and after asking the person at the front desk how the cards worked (haven't been in a looong time) he acted too busy/annoyed to help and said to check out the kiosk thing instead. Not sure why as it was pretty empty and no one else was walking in behind us. Why couldn't he have just sold us the play card himself?? Been friendly ?? We proceeded to walk

After reading alot of the reviews I didn't know what to expect! So i went there on Friday 3-28-25 Around 6:30pm with a party between 15-17 ppl . So went we get in i was greeted right away and told them i had a large group so they went to get a table ready and came back only in 5mins and we all was seated. Waitress was on deck waiting to take our orders. I think it took only 20 mins for the food&drinks to come out and no one had no complaints ! The waitress came and check on my group several times . Also t

Our family are frequent visitors to Dave & Buster?s, and it's always a fun time?but we've especially appreciated the recent upgrades. They've swapped out several of the older games for newer, higher-quality ones, which keeps the experience fresh and exciting for the kids and the grown-ups. The space is big, giving everyone room to spread out, but not so massive that you lose track of your kids?something we really value. It feels like a good balance between fun and manageable. One suggestion: I do wish the

Food came out cold. Very loud, sensory overload. Might be fine for families with kids but not for us

Could have more games however it was an overall good time. The food was delicious.

Best and newest video games around. Great bar to watch sports with a large selection of drinks. Restaurant with wonderful menu choices. Great and friendly customer service. Use Dave and Buster app for greater convenience. VR ride is fun. Elevator access to second floor for handicap individuals. Plenty of parking.

LOVE this location!! They have amazingly yummy food, fun, tasty drinks, awesome games, a great selection when it comes to your favorite sports & some of the best servers EVER!! I should know, I'm one of them!! ?? Ask for me and you'll have an amazing experience... I promise you that!

Good old fun. Sometimes it's good to take yourself back to the memory lane. Place is nice, plenty of arcades.

Each time we end up at one of these places I question my sanity. Now let's be honest I don't know any kids that wouldn't enjoy themselves. The place is good size with hundreds of games. We went right after they opened since we had stuff to do later in the day. The staff that we bought our cards from were very nice and helpful. The place was super clean and almost all the games were working properly. They have a huge dining area, but the kids didn't want to eat there so we played for an hour and moved on.

Food was actually decent for a d&b our server pssshhhh had a "large party" (according to the gratuity added to my check 6ppl) and the server was terrible. Not sure if she was high, lazy, or just wasn't feeling it. She greets our table by saying "yall kno what u want". No introduction nothing, then checked in on us once.

I held my son's birthday party here. We did opt for the private room. That's definitely the way to go for big parties. We had great service all around. The food came out on time and it was very good. Our waitress was awesome!! Definitely on point with everything we needed. We had a great experience all-round.

It has been a while since I've been to a Dave & Busters and I did not regret it. The dimly lit dining area, atmosphere, the amazing food and drink selection, and friendly staff made for a delightful late dinner. Highly recommend. 5 stars across the board.

We were not a priority for the front desk person, who was on a personal phone call. It was our first visit to the facility, and it didn't start well. You need more staff to guide guests to the correct area of the facility (in our case, a kids' birthday party).

I took my 2 kids there after a sporting event waited for food after being acknowledged and they never came back after. We tried again were acknowledged then 2 tables that sat down after us received service. I then informed the manager, she asked me where we were sitting idk why. But offered us a power card which we declined. Then said that she would look into this and discuss with us. The kids finished up their remaining balance on the cards. As we were leaving the manager looked at us then quickly looked

Not very impressive, I have seen commercials for the place but this was my first time there. It's nothing great. It's an overpriced arcade with not that great of options. Some of the options advertised were not even working. Very disappointed, thought it would be better. The service and waitress was great!

I will never go to this location, which is 20 minutes from my house. I will take the longer drive and go to the location in Schaumburg. First, when my family (came in from AZ) and I arrived, we weren't greeted. We found out that they raised their prices 2 months ago, which is crazy. When we purchased our cards for approx. $183 (3 cards totaling this amount), we went to play the games and several were not even working or barely working. There was food all over the floors and underneath the tables, trash ever

Service was not great at the food area. I had to ask for silverware by walking up to the bar. The first server didn't take a drink order. The second one did but as soon as she found out that there was a server before her, she walked away and we had to wait a while for the first server to come back. Let's face it, we're going here for kids to be entertained, not the service, so just have the right expectations.

05/21: We frequent the Hawthorne mall but had never gotten around to visiting Dave & Busters until recently. On the birthday we took the kiddo there and it was the best! We didn't get time to try the food though but the arcade games were so good that the kiddo & the dad had a fun time there! Edit 04/22: Adding photos

Lots of Construction going on in the area, but you can't tell once you walk through the front door. Great environment for both kids and adults. The whole family had a good time. Dave & Busters also has good promos if you eat there as well. You are able to get "free playing chips" for each dollar you spend on food up to $50. Games are simple, fun, and include the popular characters that everyone knows. Fun!

Not impressed with the entrees, pre-made patties for burgers, weak chicken fingers, real good fries, a couple nice deserts. Waiter didn't want to offer refills while the servers/table buss people were more attentive. Fantastic multimedia TV area around the bar.

We came for the games and to have a good meal. I had the burger which was ok. Nothing to brag about but not terrible. The games were fun but really expensive. 60 bucks a kid lasted about an hour or so. The prizes they ended up winning were ok for about 10 mins.

Lost jacket, which was given to the staff for token-based valet. Had to leave out in most coldest day of the year. Instead of of being sorry and compensating properly, D&B of offering cheap value. I felt its so much unsafe to visit this place where your personal belongings in valet are not safe. I won't recommend this unsafe place to anyone.

Drinks were on point every time I bought 4 drinks total had me right. And a grilled salad was everything. Customer service was good and the atmosphere was very soothing. I will be back, thank you.

We waited 30 minutes for someone to arrive at our table to take our drink order. He then disappeared for another 30 minutes never to return. I kept looking around for assist and no one would help. We finally left and went to Lazy Dog. Really disappointing, it's my daughter?s favorite place but this is not acceptable. Even worse is that no one will acknowledge this nor will anything change. I'll go elsewhere.

Played games and had lunch. It adds up quickly. Diner who is gluten free had three options to choose from due to the SHARED frier. Food is $$$ for what you get, but our server Suzi was very helpful. Most games were operating well and they have prizes available in a store-like area. Would come back on a rainy day to play games.

Planned to show up with my kids, on a Wednesday, when they opened. Their website and Google both say that they open at 10am. Drove 30mins to the mall, just to find a sign on the door saying that they don't open until 11am. Really annoying that in this day and age, a company this large can't update their website properly.

Went with a couple of friends around 10:30 for some drinks and happy hour apps. Took a while to get a drink, food was quick and okay. Overall the experience was horrible after the food and drinks came there was no bartender or server in sight to check on us for more food or drinks. I actually had to walk around and ask if we could get served and was actually told "no there's no one here right now, let me see what I can do" after a little while longer the bartender apologized for "having an emergency" and as

Same ol, same ol Dave and Busters. Dated food and absent service. But it's wonderful for a 7 year olds birthday party. There were 2 of them right next to us. The games are always fun!

Overall: It's what you expect, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Games, booze, and family food. The good: GAMES GAMES GAMES. I mean, you know what you're getting into when going into a DnB, so from that perspective it doesn't disappoint. Every typical DnB game you can expect to be there (I still wish they had arcade and pinball at these places though). The atmosphere and food are what you'd expect from a DnB. The pizza dip was surprisingly really tasty and hearty. Big ol' beers at a reasonable price. T

I'm shocked at how great the food is here! We ordered take out and the Latin Life Bowl is so delicious!! I only grabbed a photo of mine, which had shrimp. The Chicken Parmesan looked so delicious I couldn't help but take a few bites. The Chicken Cobb looks really good. We got crispy wontons with shrimp dip and truffle fries? both also really good.

I am posting pictures of all the out-of-order games on 1 single Sunday visit. At least 10 games including Rock Em Sock Em Robots, Mario Kart, Space Invaders, many arcade games. Staff is ignorant of policies. For example, I was told no Power Hour after 9pm. But when I swiped my card there was Power Hour. The wait staff rarely bus tables. You eat surrounded by dirty dishes all over. No wonder no one is here. Go to the Addison location. The staff is great and the place has more working machines.

Not as good as usual. Father's Day, only a couple of people were sitting in the restaurant area. It took 15 minutes to get a drink from the bar. 5 minutes later the food showed. Onion rings and fries were cold. Chicken sandwiches weren't bad.

I'm a Legend status, so I'm supposed to get an extra 15% on my chip purchases. Front desk forgot to add them (despite asking during purchase), and manager refused to make it right, instead offered 45 chips (supposed to get around 130). Wont be coming back here because of this manager. Come on man, I spend thousands at your store and you can't come off $20 bucks in free play? Sad.

This was our go to location for years. Now, we will gladly be going elsewhere. I'm not sure if there has been some major staff changes or what but my gosh, this place is nothing like it use to be. Dining- We were at our table for well over an hour. When we got there, it took a long time to even be acknowledged at our table. Our drink order took 20+ minutes. Our food took a long time as well. It was not like this place was even busy. There were maybe three tables when we were there and a couple more came tow

Loud and very busy but we had fun. Way more expensive than I would have thought. We stayed for a couple hours and every one had a good time. Food was no good for us. They did a detailed allergy menu that helped to see what everything contained. But being allergic to both dairy and gluten, there was only a single option available for us- fries. Worked as a good snack and we went to dinner elsewhere. Drinks for adults were yummy. But also very pricey.

The food is delicious. I feel the restuarant was understaffed for the evening. I didnt get the service I would have expected for what we spent.

We had the absolute worst waitress with a poor attitude. She never came to give us drink refills and gave us the wrong change at the end of our meal. The manager was very polite and sympathetic; he took our game cards and comped us free racing games for our trouble. The food was delicious but extremely overpriced. The games are awesome, though! Eat somewhere else before you go!

The best p?rt is the owne?/superviso? almost scolding you fo? not bein? f?st enough to order. ???? Good food option, the environment is a bi? KPop rest?ur?nt & the people is rel?tively nice.

Had a great time going here with a group of friends. We had a problem with one of the machines but the staff was very helpful and took care of it right away. It was a bit busy but it was Saturday so that is to be expected. Overall it was a fun experience.

Very good place for games for teenagers and kids. We had a play date with 9 members and it was a blast. Staff were helpful and self service kiosk was easy to load and check your gift points. Virtual reality was a super hit..kids enjoyed..??

This is one of the nicest D&B I've been to. Staff was friendly. Food and drinks were good. Game area was clean.

I didn't eat here. It was fine. Not a place i normally hang out, but i enjoyed myself.

I do not appreciate being lied to. I asked the manager specifically if the games were half price at the time when I arrived and she confirmed that they were indeed. She made it clear that the games were half off but the food was not. I was not aware of the specific pricing so I relied on her response and used my credits based on the information she provided and was unaware that the games were not half off as I was told by the manager of the location! I reached out to the location after discovering this and

I've only eaten there once food was okay I mostly only go for the games I got frustrated when we hit the jackpot on the spinning wheel but a guy who looked at the machine said we didn't before hitting the jackpot we had the winning for the other numbers no issue it wasn't till we hit it then the guy said it's not on it but clearly it was I should?ve taken a pic. I'm not much of an argumentative person.

We just visited this place for the first time. We were there to celebrate a Birthday. I was very pleased with the variety of games available. Almost all of them were in working order. They had plenty of games for adults and children. The atmosphere was great. We didn't try any food or have drinks, so I don't know how that part of the establishments is.

Terrible work of managers and all other staff. I will never recommend this place to anyone. If you want to ruin your mood, to be shouted at and eventually kicked out. Please come to Dave& Buster?s and talk to the manager.

Dave and Busters is a popular entertainment destination for people of all ages. The restaurant has a fun and lively atmosphere that is perfect for a night out with friends or family. The restaurant is known for its wide selection of food and drinks. They have everything from burgers and fries to salads and sandwiches. The food is always fresh and delicious. One of the main draws of Dave and Busters is their extensive selection of games. They have everything from classic arcade games to the latest virtual r

So much fun, great experience! I had never been, and had such a blast! This was our first date night out in a long time and we couldn't have chosen a better place to go! Delicious drinks, great bartender, so much fun!!! We had Nachos (best nachos we've ever eaten) and each had a couple of drinks as well and playing games for hours and it was worth every penny! Plan to spend about $100

Games were ok but got over charged and food was way to salty and didn't taste good alot was wasted.

This location seemed bigger than most Dave and busters ive visited. It had alot of games to play. Not too populated! Food was ok out of my party of 7 only 2 that the food was ok every one else didnt like it.

The food was far better than anything I'd expected from D&B. Like, shockingly good. Outside of the food, cocktails were fantastic and the service was stellar. It is a bit costly, both food and games, and we really weren't thrilled with the kind of trash you're able to trade in your tickets for, but my children had a good time so it is what it is.

I have found with most Dave and Busters the food is average and the service is rather slow. However, you still cannot beat the arcade. It's a great outing for the kids and families. Be ready to spend nothing is cheap in this place.

Me and my wife went for her birthday... The menu from the website isn't the same menu in the store and there was a fly... The server was a sweetheart tho

Love this location. Best Dave and Busters around. We attended the Dave and Boosters event and our hostess Vanessa was the best. Made our experience wonderful. She was so bright and helpful. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Arcades are Arcades. That was fun but If you are looking for quality food go to the food court in the mall instead. Ordered Mac and Cheese, it was ok, slider burgers was very dry, and a Chopped salad (from a bag). We exchangedit for the side house salad it was better fresher then their $10 chop salad. I think this place needs to rethink their menu. Very disappointed with their food. My wife is vegetarian no options for her but salads. They use to have a portobello burger but they took off their menu. Only

We went to this Dave and Busters for a birthday. Rose was our server we'd never been so she made sure we knew what to do with our tickets. The kids were busy and Rose gave us the best service our drinks stayed full she didn't miss a beat. Then the dessert was so decadent. If you are looking for a place to take the family this checks all the boxes. I'd ask for Rose too she was an awesome server.

Though the service can be a bit bad during crowded times, this place is pretty neat for those looking for prize games, and the food is decent too.

It was very lively and the players today were awesome and polite. My 2 yr old got more active and loved the doodle jumper, and galaga

Atmosphere ? 3.5 Stars Overall Service ? 3.5 Stars Food taste ? 3.0 Stars Food presentation ? 3.0 Stars Price ? $$ Moderate Summary ? Pretty fun place to hangout considering you are in mall and they have great food, drinks and video games. It will receive better score if they have space for pool and shuffle board.

Its busters. Doesn't have many high jackpot games though. Maybe better off at Rosemont for tickets.

Had a blast with my 6yo son. Spent about $110 on chips, played for a couple of hours, and still had chips left over to come back the next day to play with the whole family. Food was really good, our server was great (I think he said his name was Kaleb 3/10/24 lunch shift). We'll definitely be back.

Had a blast with the kids! Staff were so kind and accommodating. Clean restrooms, games, tables, and dinnerware. Haven't been to a D&B since 2015, I forgot how much fun they were for the whole family.

There is a decent collection of arcade games. However, I believe an imbalanced amount of games that are there simply to get tickets versus those that are genuinely fun and interactive. Multiple games were broken and out of order. However, the staff was hard at work repairing several of those. I believe shortcomings in the diversity of fun arcade games is made up for by the great service of the staff and their responsiveness to your needs. This review reflects simply my opinion, as the guests that were wi

Been sitting here for 17 minutes and not one person has even acknowledged my existence. Everytime I come here I keep saying next time will be better and I'll give them another chance but every experience is worse than the last. This place is killing itself.

Ok, it was both my daughters bday and we all had a great time. One thing I will say is that all you can eat boneless bbq wings, the barbecue sauce really doesn't taste like barbecue. Needs a better flavor or better sauce... Aside from that, all the other food we had was delicious and our server. He was great

Food was just OK. Nothing worth noting. The draft beer was huge, but they were sold out of the first two I tried to order. My niece loved all the games of course. Fun time, but if I go again, I'd probably eat and drink elsewhere ??

We came to celebrate my son?s girlfriend?s bday here. We had lots of fun!

Took our son here after his Navy Basic Training Ceremony! Service was IMPECCABLE and everyone made us feel welcome and our business appreciated!!! God Bless Dave and Busters!!!

Very great place I came there for a business party and the food was good and the drinks was good customers service was top tier by the two lady's working our section

Waiter was great food was good the kids had a great time will definitely bring them back

We always have a blast when we visit here. The food is really good and our waitress was super nice and patient, as we took up a table for a couple of hours while the kids all played games. It's a little pricey, but it's definitely a fun place, once in a while.

Bad service at the bar from Roni. Not rude but ignored and couldn't even order a happy hour drink before I had to leave since she never even came on my side of the wrap around bar despite me being the only person at the bar. Food was good, like all the sports and tons of TV, but fix the service.

This place was ok. It could have more games for the adults.

Drinks were OK (TERRIBLE bloody ) very overpriced. A bug jumped out from under our wings, hair in fries, friendly server. Not worth! Run away!!!!!

Me and my partner went to this Dave and Busters and were blown away. The games were fun as always, but I was happily surprised by service at the bar. Our waiter Justin and his manager Jamal are great examples of the kind of employees you'd want in any profession, and will make sure to come here more because of it. 11/10

The lettuce wrap $8.79 saves the day over the salty battered chicken wings $9.99! Not a good experienced for a first time customer.

Cassandra was the absolute freaking greatest server ever. Matter of fact I will be contacting management to give her an accomodation.... Due to the lackluster tip my son left ..... PS we were there celebrating his graduation from Navy boot camp so I would imagine that no one is Worthy of an exceptional tip in his eyes. Please note that is not a reflection of the service that you provided. Her customer service was so on point it reminded me of the pre covid world please let the new hire Shadow her use her as

Mark our server and Jamal the manager we're excellent. I will come back because of them.

This was a great place for a kid?s birthday party. Caleb, our waiter was phenomenal. We brought our own birthday cake in and he immediately offered to put it in the fridge in the back. He was extremely patient and personable with our party of 15. The games were a hit as well. The food was good for everyone, I personally got a salad and it was drowning in ranch dressing. I would suggest getting something fried! The construction hides D&B a lot however once you get inside it's a lot of fun!

The bartender was polite and service was excellent. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and the presentation of it blew me away. It was more than I asked for which was good. And let's not forget it was delicious ?? There are numerous games to play. I had fun ??

I didn't believe they had the rare Star Trek Tribble card in the coin push machine, so the tech opened up the machine to show that they did indeed. Honest house of gambling. I appreciate that.

I love this place! I've been coming here for years and the food and drinks are always perfection. The customer service is great as well, at the front desk we asked to get game chips back because a game charged us but didn't let us play. They were happy to give us the chips back. This place is great except for one thing, it's a smaller D&B location so they don't have lots of games. Other than that this is a great place to hit for happy hour or night out with the family!

The food was pretty good. The pretzel app was fantastic! The atmosphere is more chill & relaxed. The bar is definitely a sports bar with plenty of TVs. It kind of took awhile for us to get waited on though. We had to move to the bar because the service seemed faster there. The bartenders were pretty attentive overall. They have a pretty diverse prize selection for people of all ages. I feel like they could expand their amount of games & variety of games though. However, they do have some cool & exciting gam

We love coming here with our friends to spend some time together. Dave & Busters has a good amount of games to play and it's a fun atmosphere! I haven't eaten here yet but we have gotten drinks and the service can be 50/50. Once there was a waiter that was super energetic and gave us incredible service! But from our last visit, my husband went to the bar to get a beer and the bartender gave him attitude the whole time and she just seemed annoyed. That was the only drink we got that night since we didn't wa

If I could give my experience anything below 1 star, it would be something between 0 and -5. Upon trying to order food, my experience was not great to say the least. I had been sitting at a table for around 5-10 minutes and was not acknowledged. I then decided to approach the bar where I was ignored for 10 more minutes. I watched the waitress/bar tender approach several other people while ignoring me. She then stated, ?I'll be with you in one second,? in which she never came back. Finally, I sat at a table

Had a fun time with family but when we went to the bar for a drink the bar was very dirty when only 3 other customers were there, and it took more than 15 minutes to get 3 simple drinks. I don't like to give negative reviews but maybe some training and direction on cell phone use would help make it a better customer experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?
