Dave & Buster's Austin - South

Reviews Summary

Dave & Buster's receives mixed reviews, with many praising friendly staff, fun games, and good food, especially for parties. Positive experiences highlight attentive service, strong drinks, and enjoyable VR options. However, criticism focuses on poor customer service, slow or inattentive staff, overpriced drinks with weak alcohol content, and some food quality issues (including food poisoning reports). The arcade has a decent selection but some find games expensive or malfunctioning. While some love the atmosphere, others feel it's overhyped or poorly managed. Overall, experiences vary widely depending on staff interactions and timing.

Celebrated my grandsons 7th birthday party here. Manager Aaron was attentive and helpful. Loved the reserved party area. It was very roomy with plenty of tables and chairs. The game room was huge and clean!

46 minutes for fried pickles. Dang. No manager involved oh well. I'll still come back because I love lemon drop shots. Awe geeze. Best bartender did leave though. Enter at your own risk. I miss you Tim.

I was a diehard Dave & Buster?s fan as a kid. I always told everyone I'd one day grow up and own one. (They don't franchise in the U.S. so that dream was doomed to failure.) I visited multiple D&B?s about 10 years ago, and they looked very outdated and on the decline. Happy to say that they are finally making a comeback. I convinced my partner and 4 of our friends to go to this location with me on a random Sunday afternoon. There was no wait for the bar, food, or games. All of the games were in working or

So I never been to this South Park location yet it's a new location wanted to check it out we decided we were going to celebrate it for my nephew's birthday party. We all ordered different types of food there were some decent specials but nothing too great I didn't realize the food here was a little bit pricey I guess the games and all that kind of just adds up still the atmosphere is really nice I will say though we were there on trivia night and we could barely even hear ourselves or the people just acros

I can't get enough of Dave and Buster's. It's my go-to place for family fun in Austin. It has everything I want and more. The place is always clean and well-stocked and ready to play. I never have to worry about finding what I need or waiting in long lines. The food is solid and the drinks are cheap. The burgers are thick and juicy, and the margaritas are strong and refreshing. The staff is kind and helpful. They always greet me with a smile and offer suggestions or samples. The best part is the arcade. I

We were there for a birthday party on Saturday feb 1st and the place was great. Our server was excellent and the virtual reality games were so fun !! Prizes are also well curated.

I'd give 10 stars if I could! We were fortunate enough to get tix to the Easter Bunny Brunch! I'm here to tell you-IT WAS FUN! The food was FANTASTIC! The kids had a blast (so did the folks) and the management was SO eager to please everyone! The egg hunt was TOO fun, food was GREAT (and a lot of it!). The waitstaff was so kind and helpful, the bartender, Jacob, could easily be the only reason I'd come here (he knows his stuff!) The ?prizes? awarded were HUGE! I really wish I had told you how much fun

Best place to be. Walk in to find the hostess ready to greet you and guide you to the fun! There are kiosks at the front so that if you're there to play games, you can recharge or buy a new card to play. If you're there to eat or go to the bar for a drink, the hostess will seat you or lead you to the bar. Drinks are delicious and my favorite will forever be the backwoods blueberry lemonade. Very sweet and dangerous. For appetizers, their wings are great. They have many flavors (sauces and dry rubs) to

Finally tried Dave & Buster's for the first time and I was impressed! ?? I tried the Mango Berry Bull ?? and the Philly Cheesesteak. The drink was beyond amazing ?? because it has strawberry-infused ice cubes and a sweet citrus taste. The fries were well-seasoned and had a nice "crunch" ?? which is a must for me. The Philly Cheesesteak came on a soft hoagie roll with a lot of filling ??. There was no room left for dessert which can only mean there's an excuse to return. ??

I've never been to this location since it has opened. Me and my family decided to go since my aunt had came down from Oklahoma. And let me say never again will we be back. Our service was horrible I ordered appetizers that were supposed to come before my food. They didn't come out until my whole family and myself were done eating and the staff gave me a hard time about taking them off of my ticket. At least 3 of us had to change what we were wanting to order because the server said they were out. And we wer

if you liked chuckee-cheeses as a kid or ghattitown then this is for you lol. the food was as expected and the waitress was real nice. my only issue is they have 4 cops in there watching the place which is a vibe killer. something bad had to have happened for them to beef up security

I spent 15 minutes sitting at a table after being seated by host. Reason they said they chose not to address me initially was because host left the ?please see host?? sign. I'm not sure as to why I was given eye contact and ignored. That's poor customer service. I had to stop and ask a waitress to assist me. Seriously disappointed, if someone needs to see the host first it could have been address as they are sitting there. Mine was simple employee error but for it to allow these individuals to ignore me lik

Best for adults. Not really the best game for younger families. The games are more pricey than most arcades but they do offer a lot of VR options. It's fun but you will spend quite a bit to entertain your self.

My kids and I had alot of fun! Its clean, not too loud, and alot of games to play on. However, if you end up finding a game that requires skill and spits 1k tickets and your good at it you'll be stopped and researched by managers. Almost like at a casino. We had won roughly 10k tickets in about 2 hours. Could've easily made 20k -30k in one night. They have a trigger that if get to many tickets your card will be locked up. Reason is cause some games "malfunction". Sure. My card ended up getting confis

TL;DR: awesome staff & mgmt, Tim is the MAN, good reward perks, clean facilities, great game selection, great food I really can't speak highly enough of this place. As a grown woman without kids, I never thought I'd start visiting a Dave & Busters on a weekly basis, but my partner and I have made this one of our go-to date nights. What really sets this location apart is the staff. They are wonderful. After only two or three visits, Tim was greeting us by name at the bar and had our usual orders memorized.

One demerit for being unclear about which "select domestic draft beer" is available during happy hour (apparently only domestic light beers). This location was also out of the happy hour white wine and two of the domestic drafts at the time we visited, which wasted time during ordering. D&B keeps their atmosphere very loud, making conversation difficult, but we knew that going in. They make a competent burger, which was delicious. The factory seal was still under the squeeze cap on the catsup, not sure if i

We got to visit this location twice on this trip; the first visit was on a Wednesday, we met James and he was so nice! He briefly showed us some of his "props" in the office, and chatted with us about our travels and his time with Dave & Buster's. This location is about average-sized if not slightly below average, but it is a newer store. Everything was nice and clean, and the Midway has the large Monopoly game which you don't see everywhere, and the Avengers Infinity Stone drop game which I love but have

Didn't eat, but ordered a drink. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and the place was clean. Everyone from the bar(Nat) to the game crew (Alexander) and the young lady who greeted us at the front was very polite and nice. We will absolutely visit frequently since we live so close.

Waitress was wonderful and helpful with questions I had. The food is what you'd expect, somewhere about Applebees basically. Why I gave negative stars is because in the time I was there ( 2 and a half hours) I had 7 Long Islands, any other bar I'd be floored, but there they were so watered down I barely had a buzz. $7 for a Long Island is a great price, but not when it's the equivalent of a soda basically. And as far as a personal note that I wouldn't take stars off for the games kinda suck. Limited selecti

I really wanted to like location since it's much closer to my house than the north location. We went Sunday and played games. Two of the card recharging machines would not work on the tap. Got hungry and saw a host to sit at one of their limited tables. It wasn't clean. Food crumbs were still on it and the chairs. Our waitress was training someone so it took a while to take our order, no biggie. Two people in our party got their drinks and two did not. Waited and waited. Appetizer came out and still not the

I got the BBQ Ribs, they were horrible. I would recommend the brussel sprouts. My wife got the boneless wings, no flavor. Our waitress seemed very clueless, had way too many issues.

I've always loved Dave & Buster's but since they opened this location I've been going way more often and it's so fun! I also think their food is amazing and they have trivia night on tuesdays!

The food was tasty here and the drinks were good. I liked the games offered. It was me, my fiance, and my fiance's 10 year old girl. She and I played the most together while my fiance tried to rack up points for prizes. We had a lot of fun and she got to pick out some gifts for herself. It was pricier than other arcades, but I enjoyed the atmosphere here, which is what I think you're really paying for. It was air conditioned and all the staff was friendly and helpful

We went to play games. Only frustrating issue is that the self help kiosks were not always working. Games were great! Family had a good time and plan to return.

It's a fun place to spend on an afternoon. The food is ok and fills the need if you're hungry. The games are fun

We drank and played, didn't eat. Was "ok". Drinks for me weren't strong enough. Games don't last as long as we'd like, but having an option to go have a drink and play games, watch games on TVs close to home was cool.

Dave & Buster's is always a fun time but they need to hire more servers and more techs walking around to make sure the games are working properly. We always seem to lose money on the games and wait a long time to be served because their servers are just overworked.

This place looks a lot smaller on the outside, but it's actually pretty big. Lots of games and TV's. Half priced games on Wednesdays. Get their app to track and transfer your credits if you need to.

Janiya was the best waiter. She made sure all the food came out quickly and drinks were on point from start to finish!!! Make sure to tip your waiter. I went on a busy packed Saturday and she was able to take in the chaos of all my kids while ensuring she got orders correct. We enjoyed all the games but most of all the big game of the night was the one with the fidget spinner.

This was a great ?? place to eat and watch the game and the UFC fight. They have really big screens that are really clear. The food was great, too.

Such a great place to have fun with family and friends! My sister had a get together for my nephews birthday. Waiter was really awesome! Great customer service and drinks were bomb.

I love this place with my 2 little ones it's always a great time of just hanging out family fun kicking a** lol no mercy! The food and drinks are always on point!??????

The food was great, and the service was attentive and warm. The downside is that there are too few amusement facilities, only about half the size of those in the northern area.

So much fun and the food was great! The manager even came to speak with us to ensure we were having a great time. Def recommend

We did our kids bday party here and it was great. Wasnt able to reserve a table so we just went. Our server Trey was amazing, super attentive, kind, patient. especially in an environment like that. Will most definitely be coming back again.

I love Dave and busters so I was very excited to have one open up near where I live. However the service at this location leaves a lot to be desired. We went to eat dinner and play some games, and we purposefully did not order drinks at the beginning of the meal because we were waiting for their late night happy hour to kick in. About 10 minutes before happy hour the server asked if we wanted to order drinks and we said we'd hold off 10 more minutes until the happy hour kicked in. He insisted that it would

We went just to play games for my son's adoption day on a Tuesday evening just before dinner time. It was mellow, clean and fun! Kids were able to play all the games they wanted and we had a great time! Honestly, could go again at that hour without all the chaos.

Service was excellent! Pedro, the manager, was able to accommodate our large birthday party last minute after another venue told us our reservation was going to be split between multiple tables. Mike, our server, was great, too. Our food came out incredibly fast and Mike was always available when we needed anything. I would leave a 5 star review, but the music was ear blowing loud. We had to shout to attempt any kind of conversation and despite the yelling, we couldn't hear each other and our throats are no

We visited at 6pm on Friday, party of 5 and we were seated right away. The food came out really fast and our server April was amazing. My grandson left his toy dinosaurs on the table and April found us in the game area to return them. There were a few mix ups with food orders but it's to be expected for a new place. Overall great experience!

First of all, let me say that the staff is above all wonderful. Super friendly, lots of smiles, loved everyone we met. However, the venue itself is such a disappointment. There's like 5 games that are actually worth your time in the building Most well known games have functions built in to reap your money (for example, the piano tiles game goes on an automatic scroll, rather than manual like most other arcades. Along with this, the play price is roughly the same and provides only about 15 seconds of play ti

The food here is expensive! The food was just okay, nothing to write home about. For 2 adults and 2 kids to eat, out the door, was over $100. This is just entrees and non-alcoholic drinks. I'm talking basic entrees - chicken strips, kids pizza, chicken caesar salad, etc., not steaks or ribs or something that would justify over $100. Soda and tea were $4 each and lemonade was $5 each. Order water if you are going to eat here. I would come back for the games, they were well laid out, the cost was reasonable,

This D&B sucks! The service at the bar was terrible. It wasn't even busy, but couldn't get any of the 4 bartenders to stop chatting enough to ask if I needed anything. In fact, I walked away, came back 30 minutes later, same thing. When I finally was able to order, their selection was very limited. Games were meh. Overall the worst D&B I've been to.

First time ever visiting Dave & busters. I didn't get a chance to experience the games. I did try the food. I tried the pretzel sticks as an appetizer. For a meal, I got the chicken strips, and my mom got the mushroom burger. The food was definitely good. I did try the mushroom burger, and it was really good. I will definitely be going back to try more food & check out the game selection. Service was very nice, informative, and helpful.

The kids love coming here, the atmosphere is awesome!!! It's perfect for the family, the kids play games, I get to have a cold brew, many to choose from!!! Highly recommend!!!

Forgot my card at the bar after I closed my tab and only realized it after I was driving home and received a notification on my phone that my card was used for a purchase at Dave & busters. I immediately drove back and asked for my card back and also a receipt of the transaction that happened while I was gone. They said they had no record of any transaction, told me to leave my contact information so a GM could deal with it. Of course a GM never contacted me. I kept calling for several weeks after to speak

Update: Changed my review from 2/5 to 1/5 because of this awful response. What even is that? Shows the complete lack of care and attention you'll receive. Original review: Games are good, but it ends there. I'll probably only go back for happy hour. Went there for the fight on 4/20/2024. Called and asked about dinner wait times, and they said it's walk in and tables were open. I walked in 10 minutes later, and they said its a 2 hour wait. Seems like a miscommunication, but not a big deal - we sat at the

Sat at the bar for 20 minutes on game day waiting for a bartender. Only 1 bartender for whole bar. We had to get a manager to staff the bar for the crowd. Ordered food and drinks got a table after almost 2 hours. Had our kids at the table, one of the staff asked us to leave the table so they could sit another party, we happily moved our kids by us at the bar. We were then told kids can't be at the bar. The manager rudely asked if we were going to spend money or take up space and to get our kids away from th

I visited the South Park Location the last hour before closing on a Wednesday night not knowing what to expect. I'm happy to share my experience. Scott & Morgan were my bartenders and they were very attentive and speedy with their service. Drinks were deliciously prepared & not too strong. Alexander was on the game floor and he was try to help us with one of the VR games that was not working on the left side, Godzilla Kaiju wars. He was not able to get it to work. I still was able to play on the right side

We booked our 5 year olds birthday party here. The booking process was a little confusing and the event coordinator was difficult to get in touch with. I attribute most of the issues to the fact that the location is so new and may still be working out some kinks. When we arrived we spoke to Eric, the manager, and he was very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our unlimited game cards and Eric helped get the issue resolved. Our server Alexander was also very friendly and accommodating (I later learne

It seems like it was a bad time to sit at the bar. Short staff. Waited over 20 minutes to get served. The Bartender finally took the order for drinks and even though we made it clear we wanted to order food, she never came back to take the order. Ended up leaving. Terrible service. On the 4th July.

Had a fun time! We let loose after a stressful work week! Food was good!

We went in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday around noon, and it wasn't too crowded. Plenty of tables, good service, and decent food (6/10). The selection of games of games was amazing and surprisingly pretty cheap. No wait on any of the games. Would definitely recommend it.

We had an amazing time at the Austin South D&B! All of the staff were amazing and the food was delicious!

No major complaints here. I would have liked to see our server a little more frequently for some drink refills, but to be fair I was away from the table playing games, so not entirely their fault.

Good food, cold beers ?? plus games. Great entertainment.

VERY DISAPPOINTING! I had never been there before and was looking for something to do with my kids that was reasonably priced so I drove 45 minutes to visit because of an ad I saw about $8 for 10 days play. VERY MISLEADING! I get there only to find out it's $80 for 10 days not $8/day. So that was out of our price range. So I get a $20 for $20 coupon on the app only to be told that the free $20 is for next visit so the kids did not get to play games. The games were ridiculous point system and over priced. Fo

Not sure about the food because we never even got greeted. We went to see a friend?s concert, and sat at the bar because there were no tables. We sat at the corner because we didn't want to take up valuable real estate, knowing that our order total would be low. We were there for over 1.5 hours and no one even greeted us. That's literally the worst way to gather return business. I know I'll never return.

My husband and I both got horrible food poisoning from the pretzel dogs. It was the only thing that BOTH of us ate all day (we split the order), so we know it was from that. We've had it coming out of both ends for two days and had to go to the hospital to get medicine. Y?all really need to make sure your food/food prep is up to code because I looked through the reviews and we aren't the only ones to have gotten sick from your food.

I had a great time at my work a Christmas party here. Trey did a great job getting our drinks to us all night.

Had a nice server (Sofia). Manager seemed attentive for her, according to him she didn't feel well but seemed like he was forcing himself rather than wanting to. Games are a joke here. The best games didn't work. Most seemed to be having issues. It ruined the experience. I was billed without the specials they advertised (all you can eat wings with credit for games Mondays). I got none of those specials. Paid full price for wings and game credits. I didn't mind. I was nice and told them it was all OK. Not to

Great location, service was good and food was ok. Brought my family for some last minute fun on my son?s birthday. He chose not to have a party and to go to D&B, he loved it so much he can't wait to go back. Food was ok but not for the price, drinks were strong so that's all that matters. Will definitely be going back soon.

Customer service needs some serious work. We came here for lunch with our two kids on New Year?s Day. The place was pretty slow but we prefer that since it gives the kids options to play all the games they want with no wait. The server came to the table and told us right from the beginning to ?bear with me, I had to work until 1:00am last night and I'm really tired?. Not really what you want to hear when you're expecting good service. The food came out quickly and at the end, we asked the server for two b

I'll start with we love Dave & busters we were excited to try out the south location. We were greated when we entered . We have an older card we have maybe a year old the kisok wouldn't let us add money so we went to the winners circle added the money I swiped my card a few times at a machine when I realized it didn't give us the right amount of chips that I paid for the the manager was able to fix it but the whole thing took at least 20 mins it was a bit of a mess the girl that added the money didn't give

Nice location at Southpark Meadows. Plenty of parking. What the hell is up with the most unfriendly host Adrienne. What a horrible experience walking in. Previous hostess Lexus was amazing. As for the layout. Restuarant seating and bar right up front when you walk in. TONS of tv's. A small area by the bar is open seating. The rest is to be sat by a host/hostess. Large game area. Tons of games. Games to win prizes and games for fun. Great food and good prices for happy hour on drinks. *reply to owners - we w

Had a great time! Brought my work crew. Food was excellent and had a ton of fun playing games.

The arcade is small: fewer games than most other Dave and Busters, but overall has a good spread of games. They've replaced older games like HydroThunder, House of the Dead, and BattleTech with other more modern games, but, overall it was still a good arcade. We had 2 ap's, split an entree, split a desert, and several drinks: The pretzel sticks were filling but great. Solid choice ??. The pot stickers seemed under cooked (chewy, not crispy), and the sauce for it was too salty. The Chicken Parmesan was alri

Had their wings. Tasted like wings you get from Pizza hut. They were soft, maybe undercooked, no crunch at all. Also out of XX at 5pm on a Friday night. Very disappointed. And don't blame it on being new, that's no excuse for poor service and food. New: worse place, can't believe I gave this another chance. Out of XX, all Mexican beers, ran out of CO2 so flat sodas& lied about reservation. Not coming again won't let me give no stars

Went here for a party played games i really didn't eat the food. I will come back again for sure.

Had a blast at trivia on Thursday with host Hannah and server Jakks! Jakks was so kind and interacted with us all of trivia! Will be back and would definitely recommend for a nice Tuesday out with friends

Our server is Desiree! She provides personal service, almost like family! Ask for seat #503 and experience the best! The kids love the games and everyone rocks it out! Thank you D&B's!

My son attended a 12 year old birthday party and had a blast! Sadly he lost his phone during the party. We came back to look for it, and Madison stopped what she was doing and helped us look for 10 minutes. She was eventually able to find it, and saved the day!! Staff here is absolutely amazing!!!

Everything was great. The only thing is everything is a little too high priced especially the video games. For the average person, you don't get to go here very often.

Visited on a Saturday night and it was packed. I would recommend reserving a table to secure a spot. Food didn't take long and the waitresses were always checking on us. 5?service!!

Before playing games, my Son and I had some food which took about 30 minutes to wait for and it wasn't busy at all. Maybe they were short staffed being 2 days after x-mas. I asked the waitress where the bathroom was and my son and I got up at that moment to use the bathroom . When we got back to our table, all our food and drinks were cleaned up. I'm like, where is our food ? That was weird. We were not gone long at all. Anyway, the games are OK, just very short game time on each machine.

The crowd at this location needs to be watched. I took my glasses off for a quick game and they were stolen. Employees were useless. Waste of time and money.

Couldn't wait for this south location to open since it's so close to home, as we entered the welcome was great the environment was wonderful, already knew what we wanted, however the alcohol drink menu had no prices, the waitress quoted us $4.00 cheaper then the real price of our drinks. When we saw our bill it was crazy, wish we would have snuck in mini's but it is what it is, just a suggestion, if ur low on $,drink before u go??,oh i forgot to mention that after i drank my "alcoholic" drink i had to run t

Nour was our waitress, and she was awesome and very tentative to my son and I. Great place to watch football games, too!

I called several times to be assured that the WWE PLE was on the screen. And is was assured that the event was going to be played. And that was not the case. No one was sure what I was talking about and still agreed that it was there. Me and my party stayed for the food and games , but was misled about the sports event.

A Great for kids and adults. Good food, adult drinks and plenty of games. Reasonable prices and both waiters were very professional and easy to talk too.

Place is loud! But we had fun, Flatbread and Quesadilla were fabulous ????

I wish there where more shoot them up games but the overall experience was awesome and the pasta was alot more food then I was expected very happy

I will never go back, some of the bartenders will look over you and skip pass you and go straight to another person if you're black and waiting to be served. The drinks are so expensive and they only put about a tsp of liquor in a large glass. A drink costing $14 is highly ridiculous with a little to no alcohol is crazy.

For such a huge place very limited video game selection and how do you NOT have pinball? Underwhelmed by the whole experience... won't be back.. Also, the staff literally yelling hello at you when you walk in is unnecessary.

Alex, Ian, and Natalie were amazing!! They deserve a raise in my opinion, very nice and professional. I highly recommend them 3 as your bartenders at Dave and Busters !!

Had a good time!! Took my 17yr old for a friend's birthday!!

Lots of modern games. Plenty of space unlike other crowded arcades (pinballz, evo). Expensive but you get what you pay for. Tons of driving games and not the old ones.

We had our daughter?s birthday here and they were so helpful. Food was great and everyone had a wonderful time. So grateful to all the nice staff that helped us!

The staff were all very friendly. The music and was quite loud which just added onto the expectedly loud baseline volume with all of the games, people, and TVs. Fairly small location but still a good selection of games.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?
