Coin-Op is such a fun bar downtown to go to on a night out. The bar is lined around with retro games including air hockey, skeeball, and all kinds of video games. Some days it's very laid back and you can sit inside or outside with a group of friends and other nights it gets very packed! The drinks are good and their food is too. The pizza and pretzel bites have yet to disappoint. The workers are super cool and friendly. Came here recently to celebrate a birthday with a small group and we got to enjoy the

What a fun find! My husband and I were in town for some testing at the UC Davis Sacramento campus and were looking for something fun to do in the evening before driving back to Reno. A 21+ bar with an arcade (or is an arcade with a bar??) was perfect!! My cocktail was great and all the old games were fun. My husband is a ping pong buff and has a love for the old school arcade games. I'm not very good at those but did okay at QBert and a couple others. I don't remember how long it had been since we played sk

Stopped by on a Friday night. Only partook of the games. Nice crowd and very diverse. There was a decent selections of games to choose from. Some were broken/defective but not listed as out order. Others were not operational with no time line of repair. Several TVs throughout to keep up with games and current affairs/news. Outdoor smoking area and patio are nice perks.

The environment was amazing. My girlfriend, my cousin and I enjoyed our time here. I personally loved how they had a mix of retro and modern arcade games for us to try out and play! Their cheese pizza and buffalo dip was out of this world. This is a perfect birthday idea for anyone who's a nerd and over 21.

Looking for a fun night out ??? And 21 and older a.k.a Middle age and looking for something to do . This is the place memories of Friday night pizza and video games with now adult drinking . Husband and I never been it was our 21 st anniversary and we absolutely loved the cocktails and for him of course IPA?s. Bartenders are a blast and fun video games were the best !!! Please try it out will definitely be back again!

Great place to go if you wanna get out but not out out lol.

12/31/2024 EXTREMELY pissed off with this place. Waited in line. Got to the bottom of the stairs and Paid the $10 and was told that ALL games were set to FREE play. I went over to Street Fighter 2 which is directly next to Mortal Kombat 2 and both read "insert coin" so I notified the employee that was at the door taking the transactions. He sent over a technician who went to both machines and simply added a few credits to each machine but didn't set them to FREE PLAY. I'm wondering if management even cares

This is an awesome place to hang out. I'm not much of a drinker, and don't play video games. It was pretty cool seeing some of the classic arcade games from my youth. The vibe was awesome, and you see a very diverse crowd. Staff is very friendly, and I appreciate how they kept things clean, despite how busy it was for a Friday night. It was a fun atmosphere, and a great selection of classic arcade games.

I have been coming to Coin Op for many years and I really like the new updated re-design. Their Happy Hour is damn near unbeatable, with a slice of pepperoni pizza just $2.50 and discounts for drinks too! Plenty of great arcade games.

Great arcade bar for late nights. Games ranging from 25 cents to $1. Definitely a go to spot for Saturday night out with friends or a date night. They close a bit early on Sundays, but you always bar hop to the local bars after. Lots of classic arcade games to choose from!

Came here on a Saturday evening around 6 30. We sat at the bar. We ordered some drinks, Stifler's mom and a Tequila sunrise. Both drinks were delicious. We also had pepperoni pizza. Games were all working. Definitely a nice game/date night.

We were here around noon on a Saturday in February. I'll go back when it's warmer to play the Jenga outside. It's a awesome hole-in-the-wall bar that's worth stopping in if you're a friend is in town of the night. Or if you like pizza, drinks/beer, and retro games. There might?ve been 5 people in the entire place. So we could see all the games. There were quite a few. But I could see if the place got ?bar busy? the games would be over crowded and you basically just be there for the food and drinks. The bart

Super fun place! Lots of game options at very reasonable prices, .25/.50 a game... Drinks are good as well! Well made, and reasonably priced. We didn't try the food, but the pizza looked legit! I would definitely come back, great outting for a group of friends.

My job event reserved this spot for us. Man this place is great. Awesome atmosphere, beer and pizza. They have an amazing amount of old school arcades. I could play all night there.. Customer service is amazing.

I went here with my friend and we had so much fun. First of all I did not know that they have a large connect four game and Jenga! Which by the way was awesome!! We played all night and got lots of good tasting drinks. The bartenders are really nice here as well as the bouncers. I will definitely be coming back here soon, and of course I will tell my other friends all about it!

Since the renovation there are a few less games. My experience with bartenders have been mixed some were great and attentive and kind, others were just the least friendly people I've met or were more interested in flirting with other customers. Games have been mostly refurbished and joysticks tolerances have been improved but at least 4 machines had issues with accepting change or had screens that were glitched out and were unplayable. The food is good and service is standard games are functional but need m

Great place! Games, Staff, and Food are awesome! I am here on vacation and wish we had something like this where I live!!! So welcoming, all the games worked! Huge selection! I felt like I was a teenager again. It is a must see! Great for a date night, out with friends, co workers! I can not speak highly enough! Not one complaint!

Tried 3 different games. All were broken. One just took money and didn't work. They need to test stuff and put out of order signs. They're literally just stealing people's money. Drinks were fine. But it's just frustrating putting quarters in and games just being barely working or not working at all. This place is a scam

Didnt eat food olayed vidya ganes all night and had drinks. Lots of space, doesn't feel crowded, and can host large parties.

Best place to be in this Sacramento heat! Air conditioner is on and keeping you cool! Pizza here is pretty good too! Some of the games are really old and barely work though.. other than that it's a great time

So much fun! Super affordable and the staff was really nice. Wall to wall arcade and pinball games (old fashioned but I loved it) with the bar and seating areas in the center. We played Tetris, Mortal Combat, Super Mario, a Jurrasic Park shooting game, and some others.

Great place to enjoy old school arcade games and decent food and drinks. A bit pricey as each game costs a dollar for one play. Also many of the cabinets have sticky and stuck buttons which make playing them difficult. Enjoyable place if you want to have a night out in an old fashioned arcade. $$

Wow! This place is so much fun!!!!! I can't recommend it enough. It is on a pretty interesting street in Sac---The K! There were other places I want to check out around here--but my first stop when I go back to Sac will be the Coin Op Game Room. Tons of awesome old school video games and pinball machines! Giant jenga, other outdoor games, this awesome patio, great bartenders, great drinks! The pizza smelled amazing but didn't get a chance to try it. The bathroom is decorated in such a cool way and it was cl

We're in Sacramento for a work trip and decided to check this place out in the evening. It's a pretty standard bar-cade and the severs were nice. It seemed expensive to me but that might just be California pricing, happy hour was only a dollar or 2 off drinks and most games were a dollar per play, including pin ball. Some old-fashioned video games were $.25 or $.50. Overall, not a bad place to check out in the evening if you need something to do in downtown.

Very cool arcade bar with a retro vibe and pink rock music.

Awesome place to get some pizza and a drink and play some pinball and arcade games

Please get 21st century games y'all got 54 different versions of pinball that's not a game bar it's a museum. Drinks are usually pretty great though, but now there's better cocktail bars in the area.

Super fun retro video game bar! Most games are 25-50 cents. They have a slushie/wine machine that has some awesome concoction in it too. Love this place!

I miss all of the old games and pinball machines. Coin-op just feels like a bad version of Dave and Busters now, except, there's no prize area, so some of the games are pointless (aka the clown ball toss). A bunch of the new machines ate my money, so I lost about $5 on broken games. I used to tell everyone about this place, but I honestly won't be returning and won't be recommending it. I heard this place went downhill, I was hoping people were being dramatic :(

There are bigger Barcades in this world, but this is the one in Sacramento, and the games are well maintained and the beer well-priced.

Great selection of games. Too bad they dont service them. Step mania x being particularly bad, and being set to only 2 songs you can barely hear for a dollar is very rough for what it is.

As part of my Sperm Donation World Tour of California, I came here for predrinks before the basketball game kings vs goldenstate. They had happy hour on so drinks were cheap, I had a mule which was good for the price.

Haven't tried the food, but the drinks are S tier. A lot of classic arcade machines, as well as new.

This place is pretty awesome. As a pinball fan, the many pinball machines in the back are all in great shape and they have many of the newer models. Beer selection appears to rotate pretty often and they had a great variety when I was there. Prices on the machines were also very decent at .50 to 1.00.

One of my favorites! Though each time, it can take well over 15-20 minutes to be served. Even when newer guests arrive, many times skip over. Some bartenders are A+ and just simply juggling a lot, so just be patient. Love the pizza and games, including jumbo-sized Jenga. Cool area outside arcade/bar where many just vibe and meet. Love it here.

These wings were so good , me and my boyfriend ordered two slices of pizza and 6 wings and definitely wanted more .

Great place to stop before seeing a show at the Crest. Pizza and 4 drinks ran us a very reasonable $50, plus the quarters we put into the arcade machines and pinball. We'll definitely come again and bring friends. Note: Some of the arcade games are using pretty tough settings, making it easy to lose your coins quickly. If the game seems harder than you remember, it probably is.

An absolute MUST do if you're out in the Down Town area. Adult arcade room, with both old school and modern games. Have a blast from your past with games like Mario Brothers, Pac-Man, Contra. The bar is lined with lots of TV'S for sports and service tons of beer and yummy cocktails. Best of all the FOOD! To die for. They serve a simple pizza with great ingredients that is mouth watering ?????? . The vibe is fun and lively the service is friendly and cute.

Some of the games have mechanical issues, such as two buttons not working on Tekken, and House of the Dead had a faulty trigger which caused me to lose my quarters instantly. If they're not going to service the machines then at least set them to free play.

The drinks were amazing and even tho they were slammed the staff was super friendly and speedy. The pizza was really good and there were always games open. Definitely a bar to visit

It was cool like when I was a kid except with beer and without knobs. Some old school games and a good beer selection. About a dozen pinball machines. The most group fun was the 4v4 Pac man. But, every game had the controller knob missing which was annoying and a little painful after a while. Not sure if other locations are also the same. Their big Jenga was lame like it was homemade cut pieces which were not even nor consistent and made it much more difficult than normal. Will have to check out the SF loca

We did not try the pizza or the selection of beers available but the arcade game selection is good enough to satisfy all types of retro gaming enthusiasts. There is a great atmosphere and people in general are pretty friendly. A couple of machines need work but it's still a great place

I had to take my shades off? Very cool atmosphere Food was edible and only craft beer available from the beer selection.

I've been coming here for years, since they opened. This place has been incredible and reliable for great food, great games, a great crowd, amazing drinks, and a fun time. On the last Sunday of the month, all of the games are free, which makes for a great experience. The staff are amazing, friendly, and fast. I will absolutely continue coming here much more in the future!

Man, this place was a blast. I'll actually talk about the pizza because ??????. It was $3 for a big slice of a loaded veggie pizza that was to die for. I also appreciate that a lot of the games were $0.50 to play, with others being $1. This made playing for a couple hours on $20 very possible. Love the games and the food! Keep it up!

Classic arcade games, bar and a beautiful secluded patio away from the street. This place is wicked cool and atmosphere will keep you coming back.

Great service, good beer and fun games. Some games need a bit of maintenance, but most are fine to play. Not a bad barcade overall, I'd totally hit it up again.

This is always the spot games, drinks, the pizza is so fire!! best chill spot.. But...... This one bartender was so bothered gave too much attitude.. the beer is good but she expects for everyone to know what kind of beer they have..

Go at an odd time so it's less crowded! This place is great! Giant jenga, giant connect four, tons of old games! Go with a bunch of quarters, you'll need em!

Awesome combination of a bar and an arcade. Behold the Barcade! You can play classics like Time crisis, flipper and all the other arcade goodness. There are screens with different sports events at the bar, which serves beer (obviously) and food as well. There is a porch like area where you can have some smoke brakes. 5/5 would visit again next time I am in Sacramento.

Better good than i thought it would be Old school and they all work Very cool

This is a neat hole on the wall place to play old school games. It's crazy busy on Sundays after 2 pm for free play. It's not a good 1st date spot, since you can't hear them very well and no one on one getting to know them. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

As a gay 30 something male who said he'd never go here.. I was very impressed with the place. We had so much fun playing the pinball machines and the drinks were top notch. Thanks for the good times. I def recommend slower nights for no waits on games/drinks. ??

Friendly staff, downhome casual atmosphere with retro decor, bar food is really good. Reasonable prices and did note drinks watered down. Fun place to get on with your Donkey Kong. Definitely a go back to place. Have fun.

The people working at the bar last night were not friendly at all. My friend and I left because they made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. Zero sense of customer service. When I asked for water the bartender told me next time I can go get it myself by the bathroom. It felt like they were mad at us for being there. The arcade itself is fun and the pizza was decent. But the people working there will be sure to make you feel unwelcome.

Legit! Got a bit busy for a Saturday so keep that in mind (after we arrived there was a 30 person line out the door) but a great date night spot. Was really cool the didn't jack up the prices of the arcades and they took quarters rather than tokens. Almost killed shredder in TMNT!

Chill arcade with lots of games, a bar and has variety of food. Good ambience, perfect for a fun hangout

First off I want to say....it is exactly what it says....retro video games and drinks. Great feel and amusement. Just for that alone I would go back.....for this it is 5 stars!!! Here's where I made my critical error....I ordered food. Now I hear their pizzas are fantastic but I ordered off their happy hour menu and got the pretzel bites and wings. The wings were fair but the pretzel bites were AWEFUL. They were hard, dried out, and half of them were burnt. The service was poor and when I finally got someo

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 1st it is a good bar, with a a great selection of quality drafts, 2nd it is a decent restaurant with reasonable prices albeit over salted food(tried Pizza). 3rd it is a fairly priced and well maintained arcade with few non functional machines and decent 80's to mid 90's cabinet choices. Try it with the guys first, most of the girls looked bored except when talking to their companions, with a couple of exceptions.

Every time we go to Sac, we always make a stop at Coin Op. This place fn rulz!

First time here. Got there right at opening. The place is nice and clean, the music was so-so, but I'm probably not the typical patron. The selection of games was good, but the condition of many of the game controls made gameplay less fun than it could have been. I'll definitely go back and I'll recommend it to friends for the right occasion. I Mentioned a game issue to one of the bartenders and they were quick to offer replacement quarters. The food/drink service was fast and friendly.

Pizza was good for price, love the games here and ordered ?The Right Touch? and ?Summer Prime?

Blonde Bob chick was so nice, I love her, i have major RBF and she was still very professional and kind with me and my friend. I usually have trouble with first impressions with people but she was very kind. Loved my experience with all staff. All around great atmosphere. Was here on a Wednesday if that helps.

Great place to go for a drink and to play some great arcade games! They have all the classic ones plus many new ones as well. The bar tenders are all very respectful and nice!!

The Margherita pizza is delicious and their games are fun! They have rotating taps and a great selection.

Let me preface this by saying I'm from New York City. So when I say that their Pizza is great? It is great. It was thin and was cheesy. It was the right amount of oil and the crust! ???? it tastes like home. The atmosphere was great. I was there with my boyfriend and we played so many video games from our childhood. Just had it all around good time. It's not Dave & Buster's. It's where you go when you want to feel like an adult with no kids around mucking up the vibe.

Pretty decent, there is a night where all the games are free. Moose Hoof Stamp And Island Prime I believe? Best drinks!

Great! I love the way this place is tucked in. Wide variety of good quality pizzas and beers. Lots of space to eat and hang. You can't beat the last Sunday of every month is Free Play.

Incredible concept. Nice bar, good drinks, and a lot of games to enjoy and have a pleasant time.

Super fun place to spend an evening with friends with a good beer selection and fun arcade games. Even had Stiegl Radlers on tap! Pizza was expensive and nothing special, so maybe not the best place to go hungry.

Super chill vibe. Bartenders and security here are attentive and vigilant. A decent variety of games to play. Bathroom could have been cleaner.

Bend the pizza and you can eat it faster to get back to the games! Come on a Kings game night and they have great specials. Great mix of music. Georgio was our bartender, but everyone was happy with their service the night I came. Come play the games we all grew up playing!

The food and cocktails is what keeps you. The pizza is pricey but worth it. The games are fun but you could get through all of them in a short period. Service is great and people are friendly.

Such an awesome place, the old school arcade games and the atmosphere took me back to my childhood with the upgrade of having a bar! Shared a pepperoni that was pretty good but it was all about the games!

One of the best bars downtown with great craft brews and food. No dress code, attitudes, and lots of video games.

Went for the first time for a date night. Some of the games weren't working. Pizza was ok. Drinks were good. Bartender looked miserable and was kinda rude. Audibly said 'I want to off myself' after giving us our drinks. Felt kinda bad cause it was busy and we didnt want to order anything else and be a bother.

I've always had a soft spot for Coin Op, it's worth checking out. However, it did go and get me addicted to the 5v5 arcade masterpiece that is Killer Queen, then inexplicably, unbelievably got rid of it. Please, bring back Killer Queen!

So fun. I put it on our list to visit while up that way to surprise my husband and he almost lost his mind with excitement. Great game selection and layout of the place plus a full bar. I wish we had one of these closer to where we live.

Old school but had plenty of new school arcade games. They didn't have my two favorite games from the 80s era but they had plenty of favs. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They take their security seriously there as they take your photo when you pass through the bouncer/security person.

Easily one of the best bars in Sac. Go on a weekend and they're very packed and it's poppin. Weekdays are more chill and low key. One of the bartenders, Noah, is super kind and always gives my friends and I good drink recommendations. One of the bouncers, Ian, has always been friendly and definitely helps to ensure the place feels safe to have a good time. The patrons are friendly, everyone who goes there is just happy to play some games and enjoy themselves. Their pizza is also very delicious

Typical Barcade. Even recently renovated a few games ate our quarters, and they're averaging $1 each. The beer was good. Service was awesome. It's really fun and some great original classics when you find a game that works. Parking for this place is not the best and it's in a shady area near a train stop.

It's a cool place. Real fun and nostalgic. The bartenders seem a little spread thin, are at least, that's what I'm going to say, so be prepared to wait a bit for your drink. unless you're a regular. But overall, it's pretty cool. Food looked good though I didn't eat anything.

Cannot believe the quality of drinks be made in this place! I felt like we were in some high-end bar. Excellent service and high quality beverages and pizza being made. It was such a fun vibe and a great way to spend a few hours. Definitely would return if I live in the area.

It took them almost forever to put hand soap in the girls restroom. Like all of those people not able to wash their hands properly touching everything. Made me feel pretty gross . I still liked the place and would come back with friends if I had any. Beer selection is great. I also came in the free play Sunday and it was a decent amount of games that were free.

Old school 80s arcade with a bar in the center. Relive it all here if you want a blast from the past. Drinks poured heavily. Most arcade games are original 25? coin drops. Air hockey. Skee ball. Many couples...it's a great first date spot up from the Crest theater.

Went with a group and we all had a great time the pizza was pretty good cocktail and beer selection excellent my only reason for the four star is that of all the pinball games available I did not consider any of them as Classics from other eras nonetheless look forward to my next visit

Arcades Baby!! LET'S GOOOO!! Whether you're into shooting games or more shooting games this arcade Hall has it all. This place has DOPE vibes

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
