Coin Haus

Coin Haus

Most praise the concept, friendly staff, and happy hour perks, though some note limited seating, occasional game maintenance issues, or underwhelming food options. Such a fun and unique spot! They have beer on tap where you can pour your own drinks, which makes the whole experience feel interactive and laid-back. You can sample as much or as little as you want, which is perfect for trying different flavors without committing to a full pint right away. The staff were amazing ? super fun, friendly, and really attentive the entire time. We ordered the wings and they did not disappoint ? crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. We also got the

We went in on a Saturday afternoon and wasn't very busy but we got a table and bought a few game cards. Which also yet you drinks. I really love how the center piece is the drink station. It's all self serve beer and wine. Which I thought was very cool. It's not a huge place and they don't serve food but they hook up with the pizza place next door.

Awesome hangout spot with self serve beer taps, super friendly staff, and a good selection arcade games. Prices were very reasonable. Definitely try it out if you haven't yet!

Fun place for a date night, but there were not as many games as I hoped to fill a few hours. Really nice open feeling near the tables with the large roll up window and good variety or beer, wine and premixed cocktails on tap. Love that you have a card on file to be able to pour small 2-3 oz testers of lots of drinks. Food was from surf rider pizza across the way and was amazing!

Decent selection of beers ofln self-serving taps. Some can be a bit pricey as they charge you per ounce of the tap you pour yourself. Downside is no splashes for free of the beers. So, you need to know what the beer is, unless you know it won't matter. Be nice to have more descriptive tap labels for the beers too. All in all it's a fun place to chill out drinking and playing some games.

Huge selection of ciders, beers, wines and Kombucha. Their card system for only paying for what you pour is amazing and lets you try lots of different things without spending a fortune. The games are good but some are broke or controllers are not quite what they used to be.

We stopped in after an urban hike around La Mesa. Kevin was wonderful- he asked us what we liked and recommended several options. He encouraged me to try a stout, something I would never order, but I loved it. So thankful for his beer knowledge and the ability to try things at my leisure. We played some games and then went to Surfrider. They do serve some variety of Surfrider Pizza here, but we really wanted a calzone, so had to get it from the source.

Coin Haus is a neighborhood gem. The selection of beer (and cider) is diverse and constantly changing. Every time I go, there's something new to taste. Obviously, the old school arcade games are a nostalgaic dose of fun. Just as important, the staff is excellent. They're always friendly, quick to change out taps when needed, and genuinely happy to see people walk through the door. Not to be overlooked, it's super dog-friendly - spacious and with a jar of treats on the counter. I come for trivia with my gold

This is such a fun and great concept. Get your card and choose your own destiny. Big wall of beers to try and arcade games. You can try any beer you want, paying by the OZ so you're not stuck just drinking one or two, you can try different ones. Spent a couple hours here playing the greatest of the 90's games. They also have a snack bar and a few food selections, didn't try it but it'd be more your basic items, chips, pretzels, sandwiches. Fun spot to hang out for date night or with friends.

I came by on a Saturday night around 7 with my wife and it wasn't very busy, maybe around 10-15 patrons pretty much any game you wanted was available. Huge selection of beers, really only one Cider I saw and maybe 2 wines and 2 cocktails on tap. A couple of taps had the out of beer screen but out of 30 taps it was maybe 5 so not a huge deal. Getting to try all the different brews for not a lot of money was great. I would definitely recommend this for a date night and I would most definitely come back. Did

This place was great! Classic arcade games that were free until 8pm when we went. They have lots of brews to try and a small menu.

I love coming here!! Tuesday nights are the best. Great for groups! Fun Games and great deals!! Really tasty beer and cider. My favorite was the punkin pi ale! Incredible! ?? ?? ??

A really unique and fun place to get as many as 50 types of beers in your face where you get to pour in the fun yourself from the row of malty taps. GT's Kombucha Cannabliss is not to be missed!

Coin Haus has a really neat system: receive a wristband that serves as your ticket to games and alcohol. It is a self serve system where they charge you by the ounce, so you can try a multitude of the 40+ beers on tap. They had a great selection of arcade games. My favorite was the 4-person Pac-Man setup. They also had a wide range of beers; unfortunately I didn't find many I liked despite the variety. This is probably just my personal preferences though. Overall I recommend it for the fun atmosphere and

Really enjoyed the vibe at this place... Self serve beer on tap, video games old and new, bar snacks and overall very enjoyable environment. Will be going back again !

Really fun casual atmosphere with great video games make sure to come during happy hour cuz they're free. The only bummer is they don't have a great variety of food choices. Everything else is great.

A great selection of games and huge selection of beer, some wine options too with some mixed / celsur drinks! U have to give them a payment card up front to receive a play and drink card. I really enjoyed it!

Amazing playground with a variety of choices of brew beers ! You cAn chill with friends in the late afternoon until tipsy at the night

What a fun place! We had wings, a multitude of bears to try and fun games.

Cool place with video games, a hangout area, and good beer (and some wine) on tap. Insiders tip- Tuesday nights the games are free until 6pm and there are drink specials ;)

Cool place for to hang. Is a shame I don't drink.

It was our first date in 2018 and we consider it our favorite place to hang out in East County! We try to go at least once a month. Games are fun, beer variety is great ??

After a small intimate ceremony in my mom?s backyard, we hosted our wedding kickback here for <90 of our friends and family. It was refreshingly easy to work with CRG/Coin Haus, every step of the way. Thank you to Kelly for coordinating; to Ana, Jos?, Haley and Rich for being on point with our large group and for being such kind hosts; and to Surf Rider Pizza, Swell Bakery and all the CH staff we weren't able to meet but who helped provide delicious food for our guests and make our celebration the best kin

The games need a little tlc. But overall it's a great place to hang with your friends.

Take advantage of the 0.30 an ounce special when going to coin Haus. The food is better than other places that traditionally just serve beer. The rueben and ham & Swiss is bomb and highly recommended. The beer choices are always changing and rotate with a lot of new and fresh choices. Wines, kombucha, and regular water is available too. Cups and glasses are along a wall and a serve yourself kind of vibe. My one tip is to be easy on the handle as the ounces really do add up at the end and you don't want to b

As always this place is rad! Pizza is bomb! I believe it was Jose working he definitely killed it he made a cool spot even better

Excellent place to grab a good beer and have some fun with your friends and family.

Decided to check this place out with a friend real fast, and we were satisfied. The games were half off. The staff guy was really sweet & fun and the music was really good. It's a small spot, but there are lots of drinks, so it's definitely worth checking out! The baja Blast Seltzer was one of my favorites !!!!

If you are tired of just sitting at the bar while drinking, then this is a great change of pace. It's fun and gives you the opportunity to pour your own drinks when you want.

We didn't have food but the drink selection is great

Coolest arcade. I had such a blast. Free game play, you pay for drinks. You have to go if you're around the area.

Great experience. Always fun. Great games awesome selection of beer wine and spirits. They even can get you food. A+++ service

Had a great time playing retro Mario/90's video games (NBA jam, Mario cart) games and tasting different beers. About 30 different viewers on tap charged by the ounce. You can sip and taste and have a good time. I love the spring street atmosphere with the restaurants and a couple bars. It's quiet but you can still party

It's lots of fun to pour as little or as much of whichever beer you like yourself, but I found the games to be finicky.

Different than Coin- Op. Still very fun. You pour your own beer.

I was disappointed that they added an undisclosed 5% surcharge to my bill. I find such an unethical and unusual practice unacceptable. I would not recommend going here until this practice is reversed. Ownership should remove the surcharge and simply raise the price on the menu to reflect the actual cost the patron will be charged. Charging the customers more than stated in the menu and hurting the earnings of the staff in an effort to make a few extra dollars is unethical and I cannot support it.

One of four barcades in San Diego. Pour your own beer. Remember 45?

First time here celebrating with friends- pizza was delicious, service was phenomenal. If I remembered the young man's name who was working there that night, I'd insert it here because he has Great customer service. Great selection of beer and ciders! Enough games to entertain. I will definitely be coming back!

This place is awesome! Happy hour includes free games until 6pm and the beer selection is amazing!

This little arcade is great! They give you a card and you can scan it on whichever games you want to play and it charges you as you go. There's a huge self serve beer/margarita thing in the middle with at least 20 different types, also self serve, and also pay as you pour. It's really neat. Unfortunately, there isn't an abundance of games there but they definitely make up for it with all their different beers.

This location is fantastic! The choice of beers on tap is limitless and their home made alcoholic drink has become nearly an obsession. Tuesdays are free games till 8pm and also their option takes me back in point. The atmosphere is really relaxing and also the team are outstanding. They really remember my name as well as I always really feel welcome when I stroll in the door. I would certainly offer it a 5 star rating but my beverage of selection is usually not available due to the fact that of how preferre

This place is unique because all of the drinks are self serve and priced per ounce. It's a cool way to do things and you always know exactly how much you're going to pay for drinks so it's easier to limit the amount you spend. The game variety here is also great. This place is a little on the small side but it's a fun place to hang out. Coin Haus is also dog friendly!

Had a great time. Thursday definitely is a great time to go with less crowds and great deals on beers and discounted games..Love it

Fun, fun, fun! The self pouring beer is cool! Especially if you go on a discount night like Thursday. We were able to drink amazing delicious stouts that were 8% for only $3 a glass. Love the ease of the games and the drinks being on one card.

I love this place, HUGE selection of self serve beer with pay-to-play arcade games on one side of the room and a sitting area on the other. It's cheaper to play on a week day due to a variety of arcade game deals. Honestly, the beer selection is phenomenal and it's fun to be able to pay for a taster of something new without commiting to a full glass.

The beer and game prices are extremely affordable! Only gave them 4 stars because sometimes you were paying for the foam, rather than the beer. Wish they accounted for that. But the beer is sold by the ounce and regardless of the foam, it's still cheaper than other bars/gaming bars. I would definitely come here again but PLEASE offer more food than a slice of pizza!

This place has many different beers and a few wines in addition to the classic arcade and Nintendo games. Coin is only necessary metaphorically. You give them your card and they give you an RFID card to pay for the drinks and games. When you want a beer, you simply place your card in the card holder on the screen and use the tap to dispense your drink. On the arcade games the RFID sensors are located where you would expect the coin slots to be. Unfortunately, this place has become very popular, but some fol

Fun venue. Huge selection of beers that you can serve yourself using a payment key card that you get from the counter. They also have a medium sized collection of video game cabinets that you can pay to play (also using a payment key card). Chill place but the games are pricey compared to other arcade bars, and the selection is just ok, but definitely a fun spot to go with a group of friends if you want to try a big selection of beers.

Coin Haus is a nice place. Pouring your own drink is fairly cool, the lady we met working was fantastic and super friendly, and it was very clean too! All together it was a fun place to have a drink at. The only negative was limited seating, but that was probably due to trivia taking up seats and our reluctance to sit next to people (Covid.)

This is a really fun night out. Their beer selection is massive, you pay by the ounce, and you control the tap, so it's a great place to try a new beer (or several). The game selection is pretty good, lots of old-school cabinets and a few other things. Great place to play some bubble hockey!

Pretty eclectic spot, way smaller that what the pictures show. It was free to play the night we went, I don't drink but my buddies enjoyed all the different brews they had on tap. Parking sucks, full night but not crowded. Staff was friendly and helpful.

While the beer selection is more than one could ask for, the selection of games leaves something to be desired. More modern games would be nice as they have plenty of retro ones to feed your nostalgia. The self serve concept is fun for sure but the prices mean you wont drink much. Luckily there are other bars within walking distance to keep the party going when your wallet taps out. Very friendly service at the front desk.

I heard about this place through a client so I took her word for it to try this place out. The bar tenders were very helpful in giving instructions on how the wrist bands work for the arcades & beer taps. Great selection of beer and also wines to choose from. Nostalgia on bringing me back to my youth w/ beer is great combination. I would recommend this establishment to every gamer. P.S. Get there early if you do not like crowds.

This was a super cool and fun place. Nostalgia to the max! So many options for drinks, the serve yourself is a lot of fun, the lady there was super helpful showing how to use the games and explained everything when we got there very well. My out of town family had a blast and it encapsulated some of my favorite culture from San Diego.

It was an interesting experience, the nostalgia 2D games were fun to try. There's a very small selection of wines, two whites and two reds, which makes the 50 cents per ounce daily deal not so great. And there are no places to leave used glasses in the game area, requiring walking back to the bar. Fonding few Belgian beers on tap was a delightful surprise.

Went there for the 1st time recently. It was a weekend so it was busy. Staff was rude and it took around an hour and a half to get a pizza. Which I can understand but. At least let people know how long they'll be waiting. Games were ok. MarioCarts left players wheel is off. Good beer selection.

Fun place, great assortment of beers/wine/mead/cider. It's easy to spend here since you pay by the ounce! They played music from early 2000s here-- which was cool. People of all ages were patrons. Perfect place to just hang out with friends. Overall, it was a good night!

This place is so much fun. An array of 50 self-serve beers and kombuchas on tap. Grab a glass of your choice and go to town. You determine the amount you are charged by how much beer you dispense, all is displayed on the screens next to each spigot. As you're sipping, play all of the fun arcade games! When we went it was free game playing up until 8pm.

Have visited Coin Haus 3 times now. The service is great, have yet to try the food. The staff is on top of helping you whenever you may need assistance. The beer selection is pretty good. The only downside is that in my 3 trips I have encountered multiple games that are not working, and games that are a bit overpriced. As a couple, you could easily rack up a bill here if you are both playing AND drinking AND eating. Games that are usually 50 cents to play at any other place can be $1, $2 a play. And you hav

Host/Bartender was under the influence of something and slurring their words. Couldn't figure out how to use the beer taps so we had to figure it out on our own. Was also on the phone cussing at someone. Made me and my friend very uncomfortable. Don't know if we'll come back.

I love to play the old school standing arcade games and this place has many to choose from. There is a large selection of beer and wine to choose from. The staff is always cool and there's good music. I'd love to see more protein sold. The last time I was there, I gave my credit card for a swipe card, tapped at each machine, and the end bill cost me $2.50 for 45 mins of high scores! (No booze included that day)

Underwhelming unfortunately, would not recommend. The self pour beers were a letdown. My first pour was foam and immediate $10 charge. Bartender kindly bought my next one (instead of not charging me for the foam) which was a full pour for $10. Arcades require a card to scan and pay for what you play at the end. Selections were not as vast as i hoped from the photos. Mario kart was always taken of course.

Easy way to spend $40 and a couple of hours. Went here with a couple of buddies and had a great time playing arcade games and tossing back some adult beverages. Great way to get out and socialize with other fun personalities too. Lots of different types of beverages like beers and wines on tap. You get a card, you can preload it or leave your card and have a tab. You pay by the fl.oz (ounce). The prices vary. The food is amazing if you feel like getting something. You definitely should. Oh, you need to be 2

Great games, old favorites and new stuff. All drinks are "on tap", and you pour yourself so no long line at the bar. As DD I really appreciated that they had water on tap as well. I haven't tried their pretzels yet, but they look good.

Awesome arcade bar!! We got here at 4pm on a Friday which happened to be happy hour (free game play) until 6pm. Great beer selection and arcade games. You get to choose how much beer you want to pour yourself and each beer varies in price per ounce. For the games they had game of thrones pinball, pac man, duck hunt, Mario bros. And more!

Pros: Good selection of beers and the tap list is available online so you can find what you like even if you can't see the digital menu board from your spot in the bar and you can stalk an "on deck" keg. You can serve yourself a full pour or just a taste. Cons: There isn't a glass rinse station or a clearly marked dirty glass drop point. We didn't know what any of the games cost until we closed our tab and saw the charges. I'm looking forward to stopping in again.

Great place to check out new beers/mixed drinks/whatever they have on tap, my partner loves the card system for drinks so she can try a bunch of different things without blowing $10 on a sake mojito if she ends up feeling like a pale ale. Games are good, have seen a couple out-of-order but that's to be expected with vintage electronics. Also fun playing ball with the shop pups that are always there.

If you were to buy a pint (16 oz) here you're going to spend anywhere between 9- 17 bucks for it. Pouring your own drink is not all its chopped up to be. Games are dated and the new games cost a lot and usually have a lot of people waiting to play them. During the week the place is pretty dead. Weekends it's always packed after 8.

Great selection of beer and wine on tap. A bit expensive as the drinks are sold by the ounce.

This is such a cool beer tap place! Awesome for young adults as well as an older crowd as long as you love beer and 80s arcade games ?? they also have a few types of wine on tap as well to choose from in case you're not in the mood for beer. They don't have anything food options (just popcorn and pretzels) so eat beforehand or stop by on your way to dinner. Not that expensive unless you get so drunk you can't stop lol

There idea behind Coin Haus is a new concept for me. If was my first time visiting this place, and my visit is on recommendation. I'm a huge old school arcade game guy, just as I walked in I fell in love with this place. The whole idea of a paying wristband while you pour your own beer is quite unique to me. As well as paying those arcade games with the wristband as well. Just so you know, your card is connected to your wristband. So for example... A oz of belching beaver is about .39 cents. So you go aro

ARCADE GAMES + BEER = FUN TIMES Love, love, love this place. They've been gaining a lot of popularity as of lately, so weekend nights can get CROWDED. If you're looking for a chill night to chat with friends, it'd probably be best to come during a weekday Monday-Thursday night. We got together with some family and friends on a Friday night and the place was packed. Our group was about 9-10 people, so on a busy Friday night, there was a line out the door. The place was at max cap, and at one point was only

Pour your own beer. Lots of choices. Can pour wine and three different cocktails. Charge per ounce. Games are very difficult to run on two player. I would try it with a Groupon. Men's bathroom is single and can take awhile to open. Cool concept that can be improved. Try it

The food rating is for the drinking selection! Great variety of beer, wine and cider for tasting

I loved this place. Pay by pour concept is the best only thing I didn't like was the lack of food options

It was a really cool place and a really cool idea however a lot of the games were down and the beer taps weren't working so that dampened my experience. Also, it felt very crowded and it was very hard to manuver in the space. It's fairly new and not all the kinks have been worked out but I would like to try again in the future because the staff (minus the manager lady) were very nice and helpful. Manager lady was very curt and brash, she was giving off some pretty serious attitude to everyone in my party so

Had a very nice night out with my boyfriend, Jos? was very attentive, knowledgeable, and fun. Be sure to come Monday night for the free games. The drinks are always rotating and the staff know all about them so feel free to ask questions. No kids allowed too, very nice to not have to worry about that. I'd like there to more machines, outrun, initial D, and operation thunderbolt are my favorite and I'm sure people would love tekken too.

One of the better arcade pubs in San Diego. The self pouring taps are fun and pretty much guarantee you'll never have to wait long for a drink. Wine, cider, mead, beer, and Cold Brew Coffee on tap! Tons of stouts and IPAs, not many Pale Ales or Lagers though. They do have some food, basic stuff like sandwiches, hot dogs, and nachos. Solid selection of games. Free before 6pm, so go early. Playing can add up quick!

The beer selection is tremendous in and of itself. When you add the fact that they also have wine, cider, cold brew coffee, and kombucha, it really takes this place to the next level. All of that would make this a great place to hang out, but then it's also a video game arcade! Games and drinks are paid for with a wireless card you get when you open a tab, which makes it seem even cooler. There's a limited but tasty sounding food menu, including a giant 16" twisted pretzel (!). It's bustling but not too lou

This spot is really great. They always have a very large selection of brews on tap. A great concept of getting a wrist band and pouring any amount and any type of beer you want to try. Plus the vintage video games rock.

We had a blast at Coin Haus! I should note that we were there for happy hour, which meant some cheaper pours of beer and unlimited play on the games. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it as much if I had to pay full price. Which takes me to the details: you get a card when you walk in, which you swipe at each arcade game and beer machine, which are all self serve. It would be easy to stop keeping track of what you were putting on the card and spending waaaaay more than you should. Then you settle up at the counter wh

I am definitely a craft beer lover and didn't just jump on the craft beer bandwagon yesterday. My reviews are normally short, but this one requires some explanation. It's a nice place with what initially seems like a cool concept. Basically, you're buying beer by the ounce and it is self-dispensed. Each beer has it's own price per ounce. You wear an RFID bracelet to activate each tap dispenser. Beer is measured by the 1/10th of an ounce, so it's down to a gnat's ass. Good so far, right? Seems cool? Pick

great bar. beers are by the ounce and you get a card u scan for each beer. prices are not bad. Great selection of craft beers. Mario Kart Arcade is fun, 2 ppl can play at a time

Great place to try a variety of different beers. Try an ounce or two and if you like it then you can fill up your glass. They also have a bunch of great old arcade games. Just wish the square footage was a little larger so there would be more room to walk around. It gets a little tight right now.

Love the concept, just as an awesome selection of beers and games. Step in trade a credit or debit card for a coin haus card and your off to the bank. With an immense amount of opportunity you'll certainly get caught up within the entirety of the venue. Also there daily specials will catch your eye, from extended happy hours on Tuesday and Thursdays to half price on wine for Wednesday's. Get at them, while the gettin's good

Been here a handful of times, so as you can see it's a great place. Lots of good beer to choose from, even offer usually a couple wines and or hard liquor. Many of fun old arcade games to play while you enjoy your beer and company. They also offer food and snacks, and service is always friendly.

Thought me and my girl would try this place out came out on a Wednesday and was extremely pleased . Jos? at the front was so helpful with it being our first time and sooooo friendly . Would definitely make this a regular spot , specially if Jose is there. Thankful for the nice night ??

They have lots of beers and ciders on tap to choose from. They have some wines and cocktails as well. You can order pizza from next door and they will deliver it to your table. They also serve bar food. The staff is always very nice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
