cobra is a great bar! the vibes are super awesome and it's a great spot with good prices. recently they've gotten rid of a lot of their arcade cabinets which is a huge bummer. the place used to be filled with games, now it's just a couple machines in the back. it's kind of lost its charm to me because of this, but it's still a good place to hang!
This place was packed on a Wednesday night. Diverse crowd and fun atmosphere - if you like arcade games and loud music. Drink prices were decent, and the service was good. Security was pretty tight. I'm guessing it can get rowdy. When I was there, the crowd was great. There were people from college to people who came after a convention.
I was there yesterday with my wife and my aunt having a good time. The security from cobra asked us to leave because downtown security asked them to. This was based on an interaction I had with downtown security in a parking lot. It was discriminatory. We felt targeted when we did absolutely nothing wrong. Even the security guard who asked us to leave knew it was wrong as the only reason I was given is ?because the downtown security said so?. Will be telling everyone the treatment we received.
First time ever going to a bar like this and genuinely loved the atmosphere! Gives me late 90s early 2000s arcade vibes which were paired with a decent selection of arcade machines. My favorite part was the staff! Micheal, the security there at the time, was a very respectful man. He gave me an introduction to the place which really helped! Also there were two bar tenders that I wish I asked for their names because they were kind and caring individuals. Thanks to the staff there, I actually was able to enjo
The pinball selection is good and work well, The happy hour deal for games is great. I like this place but the games are all finicky now and need a technician to definitely refurb the classic stuff. The newer games aren't as good as the old ones they've been replacing. None of the light gun games work anymore, the 3rd strike & mvc2 cab buttons stick and need refreshed, and killer instinct needs to return. They got a good selection that just needs real attention.
Fun bar with tons of retro games. It would be great if the drink tables were wiped down to not be so sticky. But otherwise a fun experience with great staff. Bring cash as the token machine requires 1, 5, 10, or 20 dollar bills.
Always my favorite go to spot on the weekends even during the week to grab a drink during happy hour !! Friendly staff always welcoming with a smile and drink in hand , good vibes , always clean & good atmosphere!!!
The place is cool to do a little day drinking and play games. The nightlife is of the younger crowd here and that's okay. DJ plays great music too.
Great arcade vibe and retro games! Happy hour is 3 hours long?what's not to love
Atmosphere is great and fun, servers are nice from my experience. Music could be better, seems when they get a really good song they change it right away but the vibe is nice if you're here with friends
This place was nice. Had a good time with some coworkers. Wednesday night is ladies night so you get a good handful of coins when you order your drink. The games there are pretty standard arcade fair and fun. Except for the mortal combat game. Overly difficult and the buttons were not responsive. Beers at happy are very cheap but they don't serve food so eat before hand.
The most overrated ?club? in the west valley. Packed with low end clientele with egos to put it nicely. There are way better places to enjoy your night, safely in downtown Phoenix. This place is not it. Google ?Cobra shooting? and it dates back for years. With the most current one being 4/27/25
I really enjoyed my visit. I stopped by on a Monday evening. I saw people of all ages enjoying the pinball and arcade games. They definitely have some classic games like pac man, tron, galaga, street fighter, Tetris etc I noticed some cool new school art on the walls. The bar tender made some great drinks. I would definitely re visit.
Told security to get his hand off my back bc bro was deadass holding me like a kid weird ahh dude bros ego got in the way told me to walk then started talking as im walking away lmao chump
Fun times spent on Friday evening here. The concept is simple, drinks with vintage old school arcade games. There's an atm to withdraw cash and obtain tokens. There's no food here and sometimes the bartenders are understaffed, leading to slower service. Overall, a satisfying evening filled with arcade games and White Claw!
Games won't take cash, only pepperoni pizzas on happy hour - what the heck man
This place was SO COOL! had tons of games from childhood that were so nostalgic! Only a few ate my tokens lol. $5 gets you a good amount of tokens here. I played for about 1.5 hours on the $5 and tried every game I wanted to. It does get very crowded so it's nice to show up right when they open to ensure you get a chance play the games you want to. Also got a Modelo for $5. They played good music and have a nice misted outdoor patio area. There was also a food truck right outside too! Super cool concept & p
Unprofessional especially the so call security guards. No wonder it's ghetto up In there. They've had trouble with shootings I do not recommend at all.
Really fun if you're under 25. The music was good and the theme is cute, but it was more for a young young crowd. We went on a Saturday and it was really full. Like everyone pushing everyone. The bathroom had vomit and pee all over the place. A little more on the hood side.. maybe on a different night the experience is better.
Not enough games to play in the slightest!!! Some of the ones they had didn't even work. Bartender was friendly but gave me the wrong flavor drink that I asked for. B o r i n g
This place is a blast, pure and simple. DJ has great taste in hip hop?? Atmosphere is awesome, they really nail both being a great arcade and a cool quasi-clubby bar at the same time. Love the art on the walls. Even the bouncers are nice! Always poppin, probably since it's kinda slim pickins in the downtown area, but this place would do well anywhere. Easy five stars.
Terrible, place is very dusty and congested. The bartender was very rude. She refused to serve us and took others orders before us. She called me rude for asking what I wanted to drink. Tucsons Cobra is way better. Front guy was chill though.
Trying to call this place is almost impossible, the number goes straight to voicemail every single time. I was trying to reach out to the bar to make sure someone gets home safe and nothing. Unreliable bar to the max if you're trying to contact someone who's phone died ect. Get your mobile device together PLEASE!
Visited here today with my wife. They had about 6 beers on tap, a decent selection, but not great. They had a good selection of arcade games to play from, most cost a token to play. Luckily there is both a token machine, and an atm machine at the location. Its worth noting there is no food served here, but there is servel close places to grab a meal such as Angel's Trumpet close by.
This guy is terrible at his job. Everything else was great until my run in with him. I'd advise you talk to him about how he treats others and not to abuse his ?power? again because he's security. Absolutely Terrible. Do better. Like be serious this dude is even hitting the vape lmao.
Fun spot, nice mix of chill bar and club. Can get very crowded on weekends. I feel like it's not what it used to be but it's still a good place to hang out
They make you empty and hand over your water bottle before you can go in then they have the shittiest water setup I've ever seen if you need water while you're in there. Besides that it was alright. Not good enough to get me to go back again with their ridiculous water ban
Service is slow even when the bar is dead, and it is not worth going once a line starts to form at the door. It is definitely fun to play the games though if you go on a weekday or earlier in the night
Happened to be here for women?s night and happy hour, so I got to enjoy 2 beers for about 6$ and free arcade games for the night! The bar is dark and cool. Whilst sit offers rest-bite from the pounding sun the music is an intense mix of indie and hard rock. There are numerous machine of all sorts of arcade games (personally I'm a fan of the dance mat). Should you wish to top up the tan, the smoking section outside get a huge amount of sun!
Meh. Pinball machines obviously haven't been balanced since they were installed. They will sell you a drink and scream in your face for having one while they run your card. Also I guess they wash the dishes in the parking lot? See photo. I suggested coming here and feel like a bad friend. The DJ was good, but I like music from 2012 before the end of the Mayan calendar. Seriously can't believe the reviews, maybe they just haven't been anywhere else. ?????
Going strictly by the star ratings...I "liked" it. Bartender was friendly, beer was cold. Good selection. Nice specials. Loses a star for arcade portion being a bit rough around the edges. Marvel vs Capcom 2 was busted. Calibration of area 51/max force was way, way off on the one gun. Killer Instinct was way overtuned. DDR pad was decent but song selection was weak. Will likely come back as I still have a bunch of tokens.
Great place to chill! The wife and I kicked back and played all the games ??????? Drinks are very tasty (beer is beer), all games are 1 token and pinball is 4 tokens. This is must place!!!
Came across this awesome place downtown and had to leave 5 Stars! Great people and some super cool old school games. Definitely need to hit this place up when you are in town!
Fantastic bar with really good DJs. Would be really nice if they upgraded from arcade machines to more modern video games. Be prepared for a long line.
Got there early and walked right in, it will definitely be a wait if you go later. The guy doing check in said it was half off drinks next door at hi score so I got this luxurious drink called Kawaii for $5 ?????? 10/10 would recommend
Music was great! Enjoyed playing the arcade games. The drinks were pretty good.
Great atmosphere and great service. Ask for Carolina as she is a great part of the staff. Would have liked to catch the baseball game but all they show are movies. No food service, so bring some munchies in your pocket.
Nice collection of pinball and retro arcade machines! Definitely worth a visit if you're in phoenix
There is fun to be had here. Bring your quarters down and then enjoy
A very retro bar that took me back to my old 80's arcade days, they have a great drink selection and much more games than are listed on thier website. They open at 4pm. They do not have pool or foosball .
A wonderful bar with throwback arcade games. The service was excellent and the prices very reasonable. Went on a Wednesday and the bar was crowded. Stop in and have a blast.
This is a great place to get tipsy and have fun. It's an Arcade and Bar! What more do you need? They also have certain days when girl and guys get free tokens. And let me not forget to mention their new area on the opposite side of the building. (Where Snoh used to be). Not as many games, but it's less crowded and has an Anime theme.
Interesting experience visiting this arcade/bar. Selection of vintage arcade games while listening to good music and drinking drinks. Long lines and they seem to have a limited capacity.
Urban music. If that's your jam it's dope. No alternative, no country. Just hip-hop, rap & R&b.
Fun place for date night! Be sure to bring ID and get plenty of tokens for the games. There isn't a lot of seating and the place gets crowded around 10:00 pm. Expect to wait in line if you come after that. Parking is almost non existent.
I stopped here while walking through First Friday and it made the perfect pit stop. The taps were ok, the cocktails seemed fine, but what got me going was the phenomenal music choice. A mix of old rocksteady reggae remixes and classic jams was the perfect audio compliment for a bumping arcade bar on a Friday night. I didn't play any games, but it seemed like there was a good selection. Most importantly, though, the dance floor was alive and it was an easy place to have a good time.
Arrived with a friend at roughly 4pm on a Sunday (Halloween Eve), the bouncer at the front was grilling the IDs pretty hard, they have some okay outdoor seating, as soon as you walk in you're at a wrap-around bar with a DJ/dance area with games around it, some high bar seating booth/tables on the opposite side, a token machine, and some old arcade games in the back. They only had three pinball machines and The Mandalorian was the best out of the bunch, the arcade games were relic status/old bowling alley s
Went early in the evening to pass some time, great selection of games, music, ambiance, and service. Some drinks and classic games was just what the group I was with needed. Good patio to take a breather on if there's a line for your next gaming session.
Very nice staff, but greatly lacking on the arcade games. Decent pinball machines though.
Great local bar. Nice to place to play the old classic arcade games. Good selection of beer.
Fantastic DJ, but they allowed way too many people in to the point that you couldn't dance or even see the bar to get a drink.
Games weren't that great. Atmosphere so so. Didn't stay long.
Fun atmosphere! Great drinks! There used to be alot more games but we still had a great time.
Before the house music and the whole ?Club? vibe, Cobra was an awesome spot to hangout, drink a few, and play some games. Now, it feels more like a it should be in Old Town Scottsdale. In all fairness however, this is one of my favorite bars in DTPHX. Friendly and swift bartenders, great games, and unique events.
Accidently stumbled upon this gem. Bar full of arcade games, so much nostalgia when I played rampage and Donkey Kong. DJ on site and anime on the televisions. It became packed after 10pm which is good but with such a small space did make it hard to move and play games. Overall though, had a fantastic time. Favorite drink of the night was the Kirby. Had a rich orange flavor.
This place is AWESOME and definitely took me for a trip down memory lane. I will be back and I highly recommend it!
This was my first time here and definitely one of the most fun I've had for a Wednesday night, probably ever. We have decided this is our new designated spot for ladies night on wednesdays here on out. Fun environment, great music, and amazing people! My new favorite hangout. Thanks for a fabulous evening, Cobra Arcade! ?
Absolutely love the place for all the arcade games. Drinks are good too if not great.
I LOVE COBRA. WHEN I'M NOT WORKING, I'M AT COBRA. WHEN I AM WORKING, I'M THINKING ABOUT COBRA.
I'm a kid again at the Cobra Arcade Bar. So much fun for nostalgia video games. These games are every bit the quarter (token) munchers they were as a kid but still a great time. The bar has an excellent selection of liquor and beers. The no crop dusting sign may be my favorite part about the place.
The idea of this place is perfect. Who doesnt love loud music arcade games and alcoholic beverages!! They have lots of Retro games that I liked playing as a kid and even more as an adult!!
Staff is nice and attentive in bar is busy but not too busy to have a good time
Definitely not about video games anymore dance club people drinking sure video games not so much
Awesome place to chill. Great options for drinks, arcade games, dj and dance floor. Love the pinball machine. There were food trucks outside which was smart for the hungry crowd leaving. Bathrooms are small and need maintenance.
The dance floor crowds the arcade experience. Drink menu was OK. Very crowded. I like how they extended the patio so we can sit outside .
Badass place! All old school games. Love it. Drinks cool
Amazing place! Very welcoming with a bunch of classic arcade games and a large bar with lots of drinks! The games are mostly 1 token and the Rick and Morty pinball is really difficult but fun!
Great vibe, good music. They need to do better on their drinks.
I haven't had a chance to try any of their drinks, but the arcade portion is totally worth it. I haven't played some of those games in more than 15 years.
Sooo much fun. Loved the the atmosphere, games, staff was really nice. The misting fans were so needed.
Fun environment, all the retro games , nostalgia galore. A buzz is way better in the 80's. Yes definitely go here.
Cool spot decent games n chill bar parking on street tho gotta pay.
Good vibes and drinks to go crazy for friendly staff members and really know how to pull you out of an funk
Guy with the long hair was super rude about not letting me use their bathroom right before they opened
This place is a lot of fun and the bar tender that was there this past Sunday afternoon was in such good spirits but he was the ONLY bar tender there so he was quite overwhelmed. It just took too much time to get a drink which took away from time spent with our friends and playing the games. I'd have given them at least 4 stars if they were better staffed.
Security guards are very unprofessional and management needs to step up and do something about it before they take someone?s life away or end up hurting someone really bad, very poor experience never going again I don't recommend this place!!
Had such a good time really recommend the Drunk Ducky
Packed, over-crowded lines, horrible parking, average playlists by the DJs...still super fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there and plan on going back again!
It's super packed after 9pm during first Fridays (and probably most Fridays tbh).
Bismol experience at this Cobra Arcade bar compared to others. This one is significantly lacking on the quality arcade games, small space and many of the machines will eat your coins. I am a huge fan of Cobra Arcade, this one did not live up to my experience I've had compared to several other locations. Wasted several coins trying to play, the coin eating machines should be marked or removed from service, pinball machines were disappointing compared to the other Cobra Arcades. I will not be going out of my
I love frequenting this place but it's usually a stop on the way somewhere else. I don't know how to navigate the bar scene so I order my Princess Peach, grab some tokens, lose horribly at a game or 5 then hit the road. Cobra is an awesome place and I'm glad it exists.
Cool place to chill and hang out. Has a live Dj booth. Great bar and open patio
Great place to bring and hang out with friends. Definitely more when it's not as crowded. They have classic drinks and a wide selection of old school arcade game with hand draw original artwork on the side of the machines.
service stinks and their staff sucks. probably racist calling out hispanics for being ?loud?. the girl bartender had an attitude the whole time
Cramped, and a lot of games weren't working right (though I assume the alcohol might have something to do with that). Met some cool cats hanging out at the fighting games. Beer prices comparable to anywhere else, but arcade games. Didn't get crazy till after about 9pm on Saturday. Before that was pretty chill.
Great place for a younger crowd. All the games I grew up with!
Very Chill place with a nice friendly crowd. Female bartender made my sister a specialty drink she created w/mango & Tajin....BTW that drink should be called June 15th. I'm at the carwash as they scrub the dried residue of June 15th off my door jamb lol. Thanks alot...our 1st time was awesome & my sister enjoyed her birthday. ??
This place definitely earns the title of one of the top 10 nightlife hotspots in Phoenix, especially on the weekends. If you enjoy good music, awesome arcade games and a drink or two, this is the place to be! And don't let that stop you from coming during the week as well; there's just as many specials and good times to be had then too!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
